Oracle’s Built and Deployed series is an in-depth look at how customers run their workloads on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). Each episode is centered around the customer walking through their companies architecture and explaining the benefits of running on OCI.
After migrating its PeopleSoft Payroll application to OCI in May 2021, Albertsons was able to run its weekly payroll jobs 50% faster than when those jobs ran on premises. Albertsons chose Oracle Managed Cloud Services (OMCS) from Oracle Advanced Customer Services (ACS) to provide administration of the PeopleSoft Payroll applications, databases, Exadata Cloud Service, supporting infrastructure, and the OCI tenancy.
To secure the environment for Albertsons PeopleSoft Payroll application on OCI, the Oracle Managed Cloud Services team deployed 13 environments in five VCNs, using default deny policies to isolate and control user access.
EZ Cloud's AI-powered accounts payable platform runs in a Kubernetes cluster on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Using an Autonomous Database and an API Gateway, the EZ Cloud app easily integrates into multiple ERP applications, supports 50 simultaneous users, and can easily scale out on demand, and do it all for a fraction of the cost of running on VMs.
To protect itself from sudden shifts in consumer preferences, Bolthouse Farms needed an applications infrastructure that could respond in an instant to market changes. By upgrading its JDE suite and moving it from an on-premises AS/400 to OCI, Bolthouse’s IT teams were able to eliminate their manual maintenance processes, replicate their environment in a disaster recovery site, and reduce the time it took to complete a full restoration of the system to less than 30 minutes, down from two hours.

Pietro Lascari and the team at Advanced Laboratory for Economics and Finance (ALEF) use the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure to deploy, run and deliver their software as a service (SaaS) platform to Banks, Insurance Companies, and Government Institutions. Alef also migrated to OCI its customers’ large Oracle databases. The use of OCI Database Cloud service (including Exadata Cloud service) brought an increase in database performance up to 70%. Moreover, migrating to OCI opened up new opportunities for Alef, particularly in processing and analytics on large data sets. Planning and operating the migration to OCI of large and complex infrastructures required only few weeks and consistently allowed them to improve service reliability, fault tolerance, and to make the disaster recovery strategy more robust.
