After over 20 years in addiction, Isaiah House Client Care Navigator Brittany Moody isn't just talking the talk of recovery from substance abuse, but is walking the talk! Raised in surroundings birthing her addiction, Brittany was thrown into a life of dysfunction, leaving school at 15 while in foster care and starting her life in the madness at age 12. Randy Sundgren is a 2013 graduate of Isaiah House Treatment Center. Randy is stationed at our main door and greets everyone that visits Isaiah House. He says his job is to be kind, courteous and to direct our visitors to the place they need to be. Randy has been with us for almost 10 years.
By the grace of God, Randy is alive. Riding accidents put him in a coma for a week and a half leaving him with no peripheral vision and 50% blind, another when a horse kicked him in his chest resulted in him losing 2/3 of his liver and a car hijacking incident where his throat was slashed from one side to the other, stabbed three times and left for dead.
God had other plans for Randy besides death. Randy beat death and was destined to go to Isaiah House. Hear his breathtaking story that exemplifies #RealHopeForAddiction
Beating the odds when your raised in surroundings feeding the clutches of addiction and abuse seems to be an insurmountable feat, but for 2021 Isaiah House graduate Colton White, he did the hard work and defied the odds. From Texas, to Florida, to Colorado, to Illinois, Colton ran for his life trying to escape the madness before finding his way to Kentucky and Isaiah House Treatment Center. As a graduate today, Colton is part of our support staff showing that there is #RealHopeForAddiction

For 14 years, Brian has served in the judicial system, serving from general law, civil work, assistant Harrison County attorney, and ultimately to circuit court judge in Bourbon, Scott, and Woodford counties.
In 2021, Brian felt led to walk away from the court and judicial system, and became part of the dynamic team at Isaiah House Treatment Center. Today, Brian has moved beyond the walls of the judicial system to freely serve as an advocate for the recovery community, sharing with whoever will connect with the cause of #RealHopeFor Addiction! On this weeks episode we welcome one of the key advocates for addiction recovery in the state of Kentucky and the host of ST. JOHN LIVE heard weekly on social media MIKE ST. JOHN along with his wife Marie. Mike has been in recovery since 2016, and today is a road warrior, going into the jails, recovery centers, and hitting the streets, snatching lives from the grips of addiction.
Growing up in humble beginnings, surrounded by the lifestyle of a criminal home, drugs and alcohol, St. John morphed into a lifestyle shaped by his surroundings, landing him in jail and rehab on numerous occasions. As we wrap up #WomensHistoryMonth here on The Real HopeCast, we have been pleased to do a spotlight on women serving in the addiction recovery community. We finish up March with public speaker and addiction recovery advocate Nikki Arnold-Strunck, who tragically lost her son Brendan in 2016 to an overdose.
As opposed to letting that destroy her, she has allowed it to fuel her efforts and shares her story all over in hopes of creating awareness and healing for both the parents, families, as well as the the individual in addiction.
We are winding down our focus on #WomensHistoryMonth here on The Real HopeCast...we've had some spectacular testimonies of #RealHopeForAddiction! Our Kentucky folks in the addiction recovery community are quite familiar with Recovery Wagon and the importance for eliminating the obstacle of lack of transportation to sober living or treatment. Seeking ones identity and not fitting in at a young age can lead one to the attraction of substance use. For Isaiah House Treatment Center 2020 graduate Michael Saddler, this was the case. From athletics to skating and racing, Michael started his path in addiction at a young age, leading to homelessness, dysfunctional relationships, and a destructive journey into drug use.
Celebrating his sober date in 2019, Michael is now giving back and sharing his experiences with men in recovery, making a difference, and continuing his journey, stepping out of the shadows, and fulfilling his destiny and seeing men find #RealHopeForAddiction as a peer support specialist and assistant program administrator at Isaiah House.

At 13 years old, Jeffrey Goins suffered a freak accident that landed him in the hospital. In search of relief from the near fatal accident, Jeffrey started his path of addiction that would lead to 15 years in the madness, resulting in drugs, alcohol, and ultimately homelessness. 2016, Jeffrey started a journey at Isaiah House Treatment Center that would ultimately transform his life in a radical way. Andrew Hager’s past is no laughing matter, but many who have met the 50-year-old Irishtown native would know him for his humor. Hager is taking that lighthearted approach to discussing serious topics of addiction and recovery as he shares his testimony with others through social media and events.
Hager became sober during his incarceration in Fayette County, but his story will resonate with many who are struggling with substance use disorder, relationship difficulties and parental challenges.
Today, Hager is sober, hosts a weekly Facebook Live Show and has become an advocate for treatment and recovery initiatives and family support. Among Hager’s efforts have included hosting the Blameless Children event in Versailles in June which brought together children to share testimonies of how their parents’ addiction has impacted their lives. Hager has witnessed the vicious cycle of addiction, trauma and parental influence with his own children, even serving time in prison with two of his sons.
“That’s the path I led them on,” he told the hosts of Real HopeCast , but he is channeling those past experiences into motivation for others.
