In this moment, most of us are beset by hopelessness about our own future, of liberty in the United States, of our shared Western Civilization, and the future of humanity itself. This despair is by design! If we lack hope, we will be more easily ruled. Be a prisoner of hope and transcend these travails as past generations of Americans have since before Plymouth Rock.

Summary:

In this insightful episode of Idaho Speaks, we sit down with Commissioner Bruce Mattare to discuss the urgency and importance of the Open Space & Park Development Bond in Kootenai County. As one of the most rapidly expanding counties in the Pacific Northwest, Kootenai faces pressing challenges and opportunities regarding land preservation and development.

Key Points:

Historical Perspective: The Rathdrum Prairie's Significance - Commissioner Mattare traces back to 2008 when county officials first recognized the pressures of growth on the Rathdrum Prairie. They saw the looming threats to the drinking water supply and anticipated transportation and infrastructure issues.

The Current Challenge: With a decade of even more intense growth, the stakes have risen. The county's open spaces, which many residents treasure, are under threat from development.

Voters’ Decision: Kootenai County Commissioners believe in a democratic approach, putting the choice in the hands of the citizens. The bond proposes to tackle traffic and congestion issues, create more parks, connect recreational trails, and safeguard the precious drinking water supply by acquiring land above the Rathdrum Prairie Aquifer.

Economic and Social Implications: Beyond the environmental concerns, Commissioner Mattare emphasizes the broader implications of the bond for the county's social fabric and economic well-being.

Call to Action: Every vote counts! The Commissioner stresses the importance of community engagement, urging residents to be informed, proactive, and to exercise their democratic right in this crucial decision for the county's future.

Kootenai County stands at a crossroads. The choices made today will shape its landscapes, communities, and quality of life for generations to come. What are YOUR thoughts on this topic? We must reject the untrammeled delusional psychosis that is post-Modernism in all of its forms, as well as the notion that lawlessness is somehow normal or socially just.  Everyone who is not a predator benefits from law and order in a colorblind meritocracy rooted in traditions that celebrate human dignity and promote liberty.

They share a heartfelt conversation about the profound effects a recall can have on the soul of our communities. Diving into the challenges that arise from divisive recall attempts, they reflect upon the scriptural teachings of unity and understanding. Together, Susan and Ed ponder whether these recall efforts might discourage the faithful leaders of tomorrow from stepping up to serve God and community, out of fear of being scorned for their beliefs. Join us, as we navigate the ever-winding path of leadership, faith, and community values.

As our American Republic is patterned closely on the Roman Republic, we had best take heed and learn from their mistakes. We must reclaim the jury box, and restore the ballot box and soap box. Elsewise, we will only be left with the ammunition box, which would be a calamity even if we win. If we take responsible action, we can still prevent the Fall of the American Republic.

There is real reason to see life in America as we have known it soon coming to an end. Most of us are worried. Some of us still hope that these dark trends may be reversed, that a recognizable America can yet be saved. We do not expect politicians to save us. They can help us or keep out of our way. We free people wish to reclaim our Constitutional Republic and build a colorblind meritocracy; a nation under fair laws that is not at the mercy of technocrats or tyrants. This is why there is so much frustration against our local Republican Party leadership here in North Idaho.

As before 1860, we in the United States are sundering. Our intensifying disagreements threaten to unmake us as one people. This is because unprecedented numbers of Americans have embraced the pursuit of an earthly paradise over the preservation of personal freedom. As these true believers are constitutionally incapable of live-and-let-live toleration, of traditional American political moderation, divisions deepen.

When those who would steal our freedom to empower themselves come, if we persist in allowing our children to be prematurely sexualized, we will accept their dominion. Why? Because we each understand that no one who knowingly permits the sexual violation of children can possibly be worthy of freedom. Because of this, we will accept our own enslavement as being just. This is but one aspect of the psychological warfare that is being waged against the Judeo-Christian West.

In this Idaho Speaks episode, we discuss the positive changes brought by the newly elected conservative majority to the Community Library Board of Trustees in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. These champions of limited government aim to safeguard our youth from inappropriate literature while reducing government overreach. They're taking a responsible fiscal stand, attempting to trim $200,000 from the library's budget to shield property owners from increased taxes. Programs under review include a knitting club and a senior fitness program, viewed as beyond the library's literacy promotion mandate. IV of IV. The Crux: Risk-Aversion & Today’s Chinese Crisis

America’s commitment to the ongoing independence of the Republic of Taiwan could, when faced with a Chinese Communist invasion of that island nation, spark nothing less than a worldwide nuclear Armageddon. Logic would seem to indicate that survival required prudence. A prudent person would avoid tripping such a wire at all costs. In this case however, a logically prudent person would be wrong! The "Green New Deal" calls for us to replace all existent technical instrumentalities with networked computer-controlled systems dependent upon a centrally-controlled electrical power grid. If we let these would-be Messiahs have their way, we will not be able to heat or light our homes, buy or sell, travel or even survive without their approval. We dare not give up our control over what Marx called "the means of production". If we abandon individual control over the many means necessary for our ongoing survival, we will be lost.

If tolerating those with alternative sexuality truly comes to mean allowing kids to be sexually victimized, if everyone is now to be judged by a latter-day Spanish Inquisition of Pronoun Police, then Americans will soon say that toleration of those with alternative sexuality has been a grievous error. If, God forbid, such toleration were to end then you who have falsely conflated genuine toleration with children's drag shows and speech codes will have only yourselves to blame.

This episode uses the metaphor of a cat ignoring an illusory laser dot to discuss the escalating culture of manufactured outrage in American society, drawing parallels with a controversy involving Anheuser Busch's marketing strategy. The host argues that such outrages have real-world consequences for everyday people, including potential job losses for workers uninvolved in the decisions that spark outrage. The host suggests condemning the decisions of those responsible, while supporting the workers by buying local beer and participating in community initiatives. The episode concludes by emphasizing the importance of focusing on real-world impacts and fostering constructive dialogue to navigate the storm of manufactured outrage.

The Kootenai Classical Academy is set to get its funding this month and break ground next month. Dr. Ed Kaitz is the chairman of the board for the school. This is a tuition free public charter school BUT it is using curriculum designed by Hillsdale College. It is a classical academy so it seeks to preserve and teach classical western education. Education will be taught as it was in previous generations where students will study philosophy, our founders, the federalist papers and read the great books of literature that are no longer taught in public schools. The bible is read as a historical text, cursive is taught, students learn greek and latin starting in 6th grade so that they can understand the foundations of language. They will be open for classes fall of 2023 but the lottery for students will happen in January. They will have a ground breaking ceremony coming up in early December and our close to naming the new school leader so there is a lot to mention but the this is a real solution for kids in our community to escape the indoctrination camps they call public schools.

Blaine and I discuss gender fluidity and the schools move to allow boys to use girls restrooms, locker rooms, and showers.  We also discuss the Idaho’s Heart Beat Law.

If you had been doing something successfully for over 100 years, would you be so easy to change with out proof of improvement? No, we wouldn’t, but educators sure did when they implemented Common Core Teaching methods. John Crowder was an educator for 20 years and when he first saw Common Core methods, he called them a failed system. In today’s interview John shares his perspective on why common core will never work.

Dave Walker wrote a column in the CDA Press about how he believes a vetting process for non-partisan races should go.  While I agree with the basic concept, I have some fundamental disagreement with how he structures his thesis.  That said, it was an enjoyably conversation with Dave and we parted as friends and not political enemies.  If we don’t learn how to talk with one another about topics with which we disagree, then our nation will continue to slide into the abyss.

In the city of Hayden Idaho residents learned of a zoning change to a residential area after the fact…or at least that is how the announcement from the city made it sound.  A low density residential area was being re-zoned by the city to allow for high density residential and commercial development—without the input from the citizens.  My guests today activated the community and took action to stop the steaming rolling of property owner rights.  While the battle is still going on, this situation is all too common throughout the state of Idaho.  Listen to what this one Idaho community is doing to slow down high density development.

If at first you don’t succeed, keep trying and eventually too few voters will turn out and your boondoggle bill will pass.  I am of course talking about the Post Falls School District’s second attempt to pass the levy.  They lost in March and are taking it right back to the May election…no cause for trying to understand why the measure was defeated, just keep trying until success is achieved.  Talk about being deaf to the will of the people!  In today’s episode I share why Idaho Speaks is against the levy…facts and figure!

  • Rein in urban redevelopment projects
  • Reduce the size of government, let the private sector do it whenever possible (We didn't cover this, but I'd like to in a future episode)

Press Release announcing Joe’s Run for Office

Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, March 26, 2021. Joe Alfieri, of Coeur d'Alene, has announced his candidacy for City Council seat #4. Joe cites his concern that the city is losing its character because of its rapid growth as one of the reasons he's entering the race.

"I think the current city council too often rubber stamps projects without giving them adequate review. Last week, for example, they approved the annexation of land zoned for residential use without even asking for a traffic study."

"We're starting to see the same type of problems that other small cities have had as they grew, and we can't sit by and just watch what happens. At least I can't "Joe said. "So I think it's time for some fresh leadership, and new ideas. Twenty years in government is too long." Woody McEvers, who currently holds seat #4 on the city council, was elected in 2002.

While a newcomer to local politics, Alfieri has been involved in several organizations since moving here in 2013. He served on the CDA Economic Development Corporation's Jobs Plus Action committee, and in the Coeur d'Alene Chamber of Commerce as its Membership Outreach Committee chairman. In that tenure, a subcommittee he led was awarded honors as committee of the year for its development of COEURfest, a community event.

"I'm running because I want to make sure that our children, and their children, can grow up in the type of town so many of us love. I don't want to see it destroyed by urban planning, so that it becomes just another small city. This place is special. Let's keep it that way."

Reading through the CoeurVoice a came across an article titled Not St. Vincent de Paul’s Problem, Everyone’s Problem.  The author, Kimber London, did a great job of detailing the warming shelter located in Post Falls and she also give a suggestion on how to help.  Noble cause and I agree…help where you can.  I’ve spent many days helping at soup kitchens feeding the homeless.  However, not to get to critical…but I notice the article didn’t talk any about bringing God in to the lives of the homeless people being served.  In today’s episode we’ll discuss homelessness and how turning to God could be a better answer.

Every parent in America sends their child to school to learn the education basics they will need to succeed in life. Watching the news, hearing reports of things that happen in schools today, I am dumbfounded by the logic behind some of the decisions being made in the education process. In today’s episode we are going to explore the idea that as a parent, you’ve probably already signed away your right to consent on health and mental wellness decisions the school makes on behalf of your child. You’ve probably signed a form and didn’t even know it…as is the case in today’s case. A case where a treatment program is developed without parental consent to help an 11 year old girl begin the process of transition from that of a girl to a boy.

Gov Brad Little is fighting to keep absolute power over Idaho. I have to ask why? Since when did it become fashionable for a conservative politician to go it alone? Since when did it become socially acceptable to shut down involvement by the legislative branch of government? In today’s episode we’ll explore Gov Littles position on the emergency declaration and look through history to see how it became acceptable to implement a go-it-alone strategy. Further, we’ll explore things we, the citizens of Idaho, can do about it.

There is a case brewing at North Idaho College in the Board of Trustees. Trustee Christy Woods has written a public letter calling for the resignation of Trustee Chairman Todd Banducci. In today’s episode we’ll explore the words published by both sides and explore how we, voters, should make a decision.
