Looking back on all my Thanksgiving adventures in LA this week I excitingly share the one dearest to my heart.

The Thanksgiving of 2017 was immensely rewarding because it was my first year I didn’t deliver food to the elderly and homebound by myself. I got to share in the sweetness of sacrificing time and deepen a now cherished friendship.

Since getting married I challenged myself to let my hair grow and find contentment in my natural state. You'd think a girl who had a buzzcut having hair wouldn't make a difference. Ha! Jokes on you.  I've spent more time tearing myself down about my hair than I'd like to admit.

On my podcast this week I talk about the overwhelming feeling of inadequacy one battles with natural hair. Black hair is complicated on its own we don't need good hair or bad hair narratives for others...or ourselves.

You don't have to have your hair in its natural state to love yourself. re-read that again That is something I have battled with for the past couple of years. Wanting to own my blackness and be in the world as myself. I can do that with my buzzcut, braids, locs, or my natural hair.

Our natural selves occur when we are free and honest.  Sometimes I get my wires crossed with the superficiality of all it. For all the curly girls who can't explain why they hate their hair & cry when they try, this is for you.

This wild story time talks about how I realized during lockdown I have become a lil negative Nancy. Listen to an embarrassing tale that happened just a  mere two weeks ago! I may or may not have confused a normal body part on my dog as a tumor.

(Shocker alert: I looked like a fool and my dog is still upset we were all up in her business)
