Adam and Mike had a conversation about generosity and how we can grow in our call to serve the church as a part of our standing in the rubble series.

Patrick is CEO and co-founder of Kintsugi Hope which came about following a series of personal trials and ill health affecting Patrick and his family. Prior to that, Patrick led urban youth charity, XLP which he also founded in 1996 and ran for 21 years.

Patrick has travelled to over thirty countries working with and on behalf of the poorest communities and is a regular contributor on radio and TV on issues of poverty and justice. He received the Mayor of London Peace Award in 2010 for his valuable contribution towards peace and justice and was also awarded an OBE from her Majesty the Queen for services to young people.

Patrick is a passionate communicator and equally at home on the main stage at major UK political party conferences, engaging in robust debates in the media, connecting with business and community leaders, speaking to inmates in a maximum security prison or gang leaders in Jamaica.

He is the author of five books. In this latest book, “Honesty Over Silence”, Patrick opens his heart on very personal issues, while exploring the importance of holding onto our faith and God in challenging times.

Bruxy Cavey is the senior pastor at The Meeting House, a church for people who aren’t into church. The Meeting House is a multisite Anabaptist congregation in Ontario, Canada where thousands of people connect to God and each other through Sunday services, online interaction, and a widespread house church network.

David is the vicar of St James and St Peters church Yeovil, part of the network of local churches and leaders. He is an amazing man full of wisdom and this is a great chat.

Adam and David have a conversation about what is going on in this season and what are some of the lessons for us to learn. How does the church locally begin to rebuild and reconnect post covid19?

Adam continues our standing in the rubble series looking at Psalm 116 and the promises of God. This is our first Sunday back in the building after months of live streaming from our homes.

Matt is the lead Pastor at The Light Church in Bradford. He was one of the founders and has helped lead the church alongside 21 years at Christians Against Poverty including 14 years as CEO. In January 2020 he took over the role of Lead Pastor.

Malcolm continues our series on faith looking at faithfulness. Faithfulness is a fundamental characteristic of Jesus. How do we live faithful lives in relationships, remain faithful to the truth and staying faithful in serving?

Amaury continues our series on faith sharing some of the story of what is going on in Brazil. Faith has much more to do with knowledge than feelings. Adam starts our new series on faith. Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance of what we do not see. Are we growing our faith? Are we using all the faith that is available to us? There is no promise in scripture that following Jesus comes problem free, our faith grows when we face mountains. Our faith comes into its own when we face struggles.

Adam finishes our What is Church? series looking at the Christmas story and what we learn through the different characters. How do we create space for others?

In a change to the planned series, Sarah led us through the Old Testament story of Joseph: his harsh treatment at the hands of his jealous brothers and his being sold into slavery in Egypt, where he initially prospered. Then the false accusations that led to his unfair imprisonment. Through it all Joseph refused to lose hope or give in to bitterness and self-pity, but even through the dark times he held on to his trust in God. Sarah shared that for her – and perhaps for others of us – it can seem like we are in a period where the ‘colour’ has left our lives and almost everything seems ‘grey’. Yet despite appearances, God never abandons us; his goodness and love remains, and he is constantly and creatively seeking ways to bring blessing even from the worst of situations. This is a key lesson for many of us at this time.

Rachel continues our series on What is Church, looking at how we are called to share communion and community. We gather around the table, where everyone is invited, where we remember God’s love – so that we might impact the world around us. So that we might demonstrate God’s love and transform our community.

Malcolm continues our series on 'What is Church?' looking at resistance and revolution. How we resist the traps of culture and become people who are intimate followers of Jesus. Here is the video he shared:

Adam continues our series on ‘What is church?’ looking at being Inclusive and Exclusive. The message of Jesus is for all people. God meets us in the middle of our situation - however it looks, but none of us get to stand still. We are all invited into a journey of transformation. We are all invited to change and become more and more the people that God has called and created us to be. How do we create a space where we everyone is welcome at the table? If we want to be inclusive we need to be exclusively focused on Jesus.

Adam continues our series 'What is Church?' looking at being Connected and Committed. We live in a society that is disconnected. Right at the start of scripture when Adam and Eve are separated from God relationships become about power. As a church we seek to reconnect in every way we can do that the world around us can become reconnected, restored and renewed in ever way it can. This is the kingdom of God.

We are invited as individuals and a community to be people who pursue connection in every way we can do that the world around us may be restored. We are invited to be in relationships that are not about power but submitting to one another.

However the cost of diversity is disruption and the cost of unity is our freedom of independence. Adam finishes our short giving series looking at the story of the feeding of the 5000. The boy gave everything he had putting himself in need of the same miracle as the rest of the crowd. Do we give out of excess and comfort? Where our money is, is where our heart is. When we give we give together, not as individuals. We are invited to be community together, our worship, offering and lives are meant to be done together.

Malcolm continued our mini series looking at Giving. He commented on some of the challenges associated with discussing monetary giving, before drawing our attention to some of the biblical principles found in both the Old and New Testaments regarding the issue. Though this we are ultimately reminded that to give is to worship, in whatever form that may be.

Adam launches our new short series on Giving. Looking at how giving is an act of liberation, it frees us from being stuck feeling like we we more. Having enough is a perspective not a percentage or a figure. Giving us the antidote to not enough.

Adam and Andy have a conversation about Andy's story of healing and finding dependancy on God. Following a life changing car crash Andy has been on a journey of transformation and learning who God is and what he is doing. Unpacking consecration and calling to following Jesus in a conversational style.

This week through his own experience and what God has been teaching him, guest speaker James Pickin explores what it means to deny ourselves, take up our cross and follow Jesus in our day to day lives. We are challenged in what it costs to follow Christ, and inspired in the adventure that follows.

Adam looking at the story of Elijah and Elisha. Elisha had multiple opportunities to stop, settle and that wouldn't have been wrong but Elisha knew that the full blessing came when he pressed on in following Elijah until the end. What are the areas of our lives where we need to push on through to see God move in his fullness. How do we grow to become more and more the people he invites us to be.

Adam continues our Love Letters series looking at power, temples and humility. Understanding that humility is not about self deprecation, but about knowing who God is within us. How do we become people who understand the gifts God has given us and using them?

Our series on Love Letters continues with Adam speaking about Power, focusing on King Solomon. We see “power play” in our everyday lives in national politics, working environments and our own relationships. God calls us to break the cycle of power; our words matter and have power - are our words soaked in love and grace? It is possible to declare ourselves as Christians but miss what we’ve been saved from - do we become the very thing we oppose...?

Adam and Meg share on the story of Abraham, Sarah and Isaac. They share wisdom around Gods love, his promises and how he keeps them. It was really exciting and different to share this in conversational style teaching.

Adam continues our Love Letters series looking at Peter's reconciliation with Jesus.

Jesus asks Peter 3 times 'Do you love me?'. We see this as an echo of Peters previous denial of Jesus and that Jesus response is restoration of that relationship. Jesus calls out more in Peter and prophecies over him.

When we have the opportunity to hear from God do we take the moment and see what he wants to say? Or do we deflect and look at the other things going on around us?

Malcolm continues our Love Letters series unpacking intimacy with God. How prepared are we to give him everything, how brave are we with our prayers?

Adam continues our series on Love Letters, as we come to the end of our weekend of prayer together he unpacks the Lord's Prayer. Where do we need to find greater dependance on God? Where do the things in our lives get in the way of encountering him fully?

Malcolm continues our series on faith, hope and love. Unpacking New Testament faith in 3 different senses; Faith as commitment to the fundamental truths concerning Jesus, Faith as active trust in Jesus that leads us to do as he says and faith as allegiance to Jesus the King.

Adam continues our series on Faith, Hope and Love, focusing on Faith. He challenged us to see the choice we have between fear, and acting in faith. He draws upon stories and passages mainly in Joshua and Hebrews, as well as others to demonstrate our place in the larger story of Gods people who can choose faith over fear.

This morning, Sarah talks to us about “Hope is the dream of the soul awake”. Hope is all about perspective. God has promised He is in us and with us all the time, sometimes we find it difficult to access this power and our eyes focus on the situations directly in front of us.

Hope is all about perspective, it helps us to look forward to the future but is rooted in the here and now. If we put our hope in finances, other people, our country… all of these will let us down at some point. If we put our hope in Christ, He will be life for us. Malcolm continues our series on Faith, Hope and Love looking at how we make the journey to hope from despair. When we feel hopeless Jesus invites us to name the issues, understand where we are standing and give it to him. We allow Jesus to change our perspective and see that his resurrection changes everything.

Hope is woven through the scriptures, through stories of healing, failure and transformation. Adam looks at the story of the woman who bled for 12 years being healed by touching Jesus and her hope that brought healing. Poverty is not always financial, it can be related to health, career, family. A poverty mindset roots us in the immediate. It tells us that life will always be like this.

The gospel is a story of hope, we are invited to live in that story.
