The Gospel is not the elementary principle of salvation that we outgrow when we become mature. It is the truth that grows all the sweeter and all the more real as we mature
We honor the Lord by bearing fruit. We honor those who pour into our lives by bearing fruit. Bearing fruit in our lives is a weapon of spiritual warfare.
The Response of The People to the Message of the Good News Gospel was Clear and Evidential of a Supernatural Work of God… Not a Natural Response to a Clever sermon.
We can never earn the privilege to be in the presence of our Holy God. So quit trying to beat yourself up, or listen to the lies that you are unworthy. We simply get the privilege of having God as our Father, Provider, and Protector because he chooses to love us.
A New Church, an On-fire Church, Believing in Salvation and the return of Jesus Christ.
We will be doing the background study to better understand the context and content and walk away with a fuller meaning.
Our study is going to be a bit more academic. We in this church believe it is necessary to study Scripture. IN Context, Not Opinion or Tradition.
If you are wondering what the will of God is - your sanctification. Bearing more and more of Christ image in this world
Navigate life decisions through this grid - what will help me to “bear more Christ-likeness in this world” (to the world and in me)
Here we see Jesus carrying His people on His shoulders into this holy conversation with the Father to make sacrifice and pray on their behalf.
We’ve seen love communicated and displayed often in the last couple chapters of John. Jesus loves the disciples to the end, we are told to love the Father and the Son, we are told to love and serve one another. Today we’re going to see some hate.
The best news you didn’t want to hear” Can you Imagine, (maybe you've been in a situation) Where a loved one was soon to pass they motion you to come close, they have one last thing to say.
The beauty of the Trinity on Display - Father, Son, and Spirit. Heavy Focus on Jesus.
Love and obedience (Obedience motivated by Love) God sees the inward not the outward.
Have you ever had a troubled heart because someone told you you were just going to mess things up, or because of some behavior that makes you frequently miss the mark, Or even more serious, because the Holy Spirit is convicting you of something you don’t want to let go of? How do we avoid those pitfalls? The answer is UNITY with God.
Jesus is displaying before his disciples what love looks like. It is others focused and moves one to action. Today, in an almost opposite point to be made Jesus will express that "actions" can be done with wrong motives and intentions, just as Judas did.
With our theme of “Vision” I could not think of a better section of scripture to go through. We are going to see Jesus serve, teach, prepare, warn, pray, and love His disciples to the very end. The very Word of God will speak and we will get to take it all in. We will learn directly from the Master Himself what His vision for the church and the individual believer is.
The testimony of the Lord is sure! We Talk about somebody’s testimony, somebody’s witness, based on do they keep or co what they say. Are they a liar or a hypocrite? However, Yahweh stay garrens!!!
Join us as Pastor Maiola reviews what we have learned in 2023 preparing us to head into 2024!
Today we are going to look at our core verse and the Biblical understanding and use of Vision.
This song has not only survived 200+ years, but it is also sung and celebrated every year. You have to ask why? What is it about this song that has made it stand the test of time?
This is why so much emphasis is made about the birth of Jesus as a divine miracle, One who was sinless in nature and totally obedient to Father. It is because of this that He could be on the cross in our place!
We too can shine because of this night, the night of our dear Savior’s birth. We can come before His presence in Worship!
They would place them into a poem format with rhyme and rhythm, suitable for singing at times while still keeping it line by line true to the Psalm.
Is the gospel written on my heart? Is it ready on my tongue? Do I know that I have peace with God because of the cross? Am I ready to give the gospel of peace to others?
The way that the name of God is seen to be so great - is through his goodness to an undeserving humanity.
We pray with urgency, tenacity, and consistency! He will not always come or answer when we want, but he’s always on time.
We end our prayers with glory to God because that is the purpose of our prayers. We remind ourselves that it is the purpose of our prayers and ultimately our lives!
The key to changing our topic of speech is to change our heart. We can do this by spending time with God daily but studying His word! When we are in the word of God daily, our heart and our words are filled with praise.
You would think something as simple as giving it to God would be something that we would naturally just do; But sadly, too often… it’s one of our last steps.
After the beauty of Psalm 68 that exalted God in his strength, his holiness, and his nearness to the weak, David now begins this song with a cry for help. “Save me O God”.
In the middle of all of history, is Jesus’ death. It is not the fallback plan, it is the plan, the very anchor point which all human history orbits. His life, death and resurrection are the focal point of our entire story… it is the lens through which we should see the entire lived human experience, including pain and suffering.
This picture is meant to be violent. Those who stand as enemies of God need to understand the reality of what that means so that they will no longer stand as enemies but surrender to this King who provides all things to His people.
If it seems like your prayers aren’t being heard - it May be due to Unconfessed sin; - it’s not that God is mad at you, No - He Loves You So Much that - If you are Walking Contrary to His Will - He will be Silent… In Order That you might Begin to Ask God to “Search your heart” and see where you have some Unconfessed sin.
When you don’t see results in your prayers, first come before the Lord and ask Him to help you take inventory of self. Come knowing that He loves you and has plans to prosper you and not to harm you!
Redemption doesn’t end in deliverance, it ends with praise. Psalm 64 David is assured of God’s heavenly deliverance by God’s earthly dominion.
Redemption doesn’t end in deliverance, it ends with praise. Psalm 64 David is assured of God’s heavenly deliverance by God’s earthly dominion.
David in his praise is not ignorant of the enemies surrounding him; But even now he looks to God and knows God will deal with his enemies. There’s a confidence that God is just and even if David is suffering now, God will bring about good from it.
There’s a picture being painted in verse one. The picture is one of stillness and trust, and there’s confidence and peace in the statement that David makes. This is what his soul does. This peace and confidence and trust comes from only one source and there is only one who is worthy of yielding this kind of response.
David often uses this phrase, the shelter, or the shadow of Yahweh's wings. David knew of the wings on the Ark of the Covenant that covered the mercy seat and the symbolism of it.
How tragic it is that, often as we grow older in our walk with God, sometimes, like David in this Psalm, we begin to depend on our own abilities, resources, or personalities! In our earlier days, with the Lord, we walked in full dependency upon him!
God builds His Church, and he chooses to use us in His mission. He’s working all around us… we can jump in… or sit on the sidelines.
In Psalm 37 and in this Psalm, David was confident that his enemies would not succeed. He knew that God mocks the mockers. Therefore, he would watch for God, for God is his stronghold!
You and I have seen God act on our behalf… hopefully you’ve recognized it. Let’s live like David and trust God, and believe he is on the throne!
Why does David choose to fix his eyes on God rather than his present circumstance? Why does he cry out to God at all? Why does he resolve to praise God in the midst of being hunted by Saul.
Some of you can feel that as a father, you’re not where you wish you could be right now spiritually and relationally with God and with your family! David models the correct way to handle this in Psalm 56!
He wants our hearts and our requests! He calls us to bring our burdens and our praise and He wants us to leave vengeance and anxiety in his hands.
We need the truths of this Psalm! It’ll seem familiar maybe, there’s a reason David cries out to God the same way in different situations and why we are to learn from David how we are to pray and fight.
When we live like there is no God, we become the supreme moral authority, at least in our own minds, and that is a dangerous place to be!
The issue is not if God will bring justice, rather when God will bring justice. Often we want justice now, but why does God wait? He waits because he is merciful and gracious slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love as we know from Psalm 103:8.
Join us this week as Paul Gates talks about his ministry, and embracing the unexpected people in our everyday lives.
If the joy is gone, chances are very great that there is some unconfessed sin in your life. The Fruit of the Spirit is joy!
Join us this week as Kahu Waxer talks about the controversial topic of Pre-Destination.
If you ever think God is permissive of sin, look to the cross. See how severely sin is dealt with and how deeply He loves you that He would pay that high a price to free you from its grip.
We are all a part of the body. We all have a role to play! Find out what your role will be this Easter.
We have received a Spirit of adoption and we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons. What does it mean, why does it matter, how these two show something powerful about the purpose of God?
Those who are walking according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh. The mind set on the flesh leads to death. Those who are according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit! The mind that is set on the Spirit is life and peace.
Join us this week as Kahu Waxer talks about the differences between the Spirit and the Flesh, described in Romans 8.
The love of God is the crescendo and the conclusion! The greatest treasure in this life is one we can never loose - God’s love. We will be separated from all other types of things; But never from the love of God.
The apostle Paul speaks a lot about “suffering” to the Christian, but it’s never suffering for suffering sake, there is always a context. Peter talks about being tested by the Lord through suffering in 1 Peter 4:12.
God is righteous, so our being in Him is being in righteousness. Him in us is us being made righteous by His cleansing work on the cross, the blood of the Lamb.
If you continually find yourself in a place of frustration, bitterness, anger, or self loathing. Ask yourself what are you setting your mind on?
This is Yahweh Elohim, the God who created the heavens and the earth; They exist because He willed them to, so when He calls they obey. Would that we have that same obedience!
Someone once said, “We can’t take our money with us, but we can send it ahead.” We can use our resources for missions and ministry, to further proclaim and advance the Gospel.
Go through and inspect, admire, adore, the works of God. Look at the church that God has built, the Church as a whole. Consider how many testimonies, stories of victory, deliverance, hope, there are. How many answered prayers and prayers we’re glad God didn’t answer!
Paul has preached the gospel to them but they’ve fallen prey to finding their righteousness in other things. The gospel is the good news of freedom from the law and sin, freedom from earning our righteousness!
Join us on this New Years day as Kahu Waxer shares with us the Theme for this new year Freedom!
As we go through our scriptures we will be highlighting this abundant life that God has designed for His children; To be free from the cares of this world, the opinions of others, the economy, or any other earthly thing.
May our hearts go out to the un-saved and un-hopeful people who have no “Hope Delivered” on Christmas day.
This message of hope is for the world; The lost, broken, ungodly, hurting, and sick. It is our job and joy to share this hope with the world!
Jesus Christ is our one and only true hope. The wait is over, God has done His part, salvation has been delivered, and hope is available! Now it is up to us to share hope!
There are many Christmas stories and traditions that are not as accurate as you might think. Take the Christmas test and tune in as Pastor Waxer talks about the history of Christmas.
All humans have eternal life, the question is not only where will you live it, but how will you live your eternal life? Learning how to live for eternity with God begins the moment you are born again, and the is eternal living.
Why does it matter if we see God as King? Because something will always be the king of your life! The thing that you worship and follow, the thing that dictates what you do and how you live, the one you seek to please.
Siege warfare meant surrounding the city and trapping all its inhabitants in, cutting off water and food, and closing off the river, depriving the city of the things they needed to live. Satan uses the same kind of tactics. He desires to cut you of from the fountain of living water!
What would make someone forget or leave behind their people and their father’s house. Something that is more glorious and grand than anything they could imagine. A King who leads with righteousness and meekness and justice.
Anytime the children of God come to worship Him, their hearts should share the expression of the psalmist. An overflow of the heart that has seen and been moved, changed, and blessed by the majesty, beauty, and grace of God.
We have also begun to understand that many times, while we do not enjoy any suffering, we have seen that our loving Father has a purpose! A Good one, to bring us back to a place of blessing.
What I enjoy about David is he seemed to have a balance between expressing his heart to the Lord openly… and yet not allowing his heart to sink into hopelessness!
The waves of this world will come and the floods will break against the house. What help does one house have to stand when all the others are washed away? Not what it is made of, not the color of paint. It’s what stands beneath it, its foundation. God must be our foundation!
Jesus draws us near to Him by showing us He understands, and therefore we can come boldly to the throne. Not by our own merit but on His!
A man may be as poor as Lazarus, as hated as Mordecai, as sick as Hezekiah, or as lonely as Elijah, but while his hand of faith can keep its hold on God, none of his outward afflictions can prevent him from being numbered among the blessed!
In order to get our attention and to get us back on track, whether we were purposeful or not in our rebellion, God will allow suffering and hardship to discipline us. David clearly acknowledges the cause and effect of his suffering was his Sin.
What's so refreshing to see is David’s honesty and vulnerability with the Lord. No excuses, blaming, or finger pointing. It is important to confess sin, because when we do, healing and restoration with the Holy Spirit happens.
It’s so good to know and to count on the fact that our Father has plans for each of us! If we pray for his direction and obey his will, we will end up in His will, blessing, and protection.
Live as the Lord has called you. Do not compromise to live like the wicked when you see them prospering, but rather commit your way to Yahweh who sees all and judges according to His righteousness!
The words of the ungodly are untrustworthy! This is not just a warning about others, but also servers as a warning for your own judgment, plans, pursuits, and opinions when your heart has drifted far from God.
Loving our enemies is not the same as tolerating our enemies' existence. To love them is to bless them and to mourn with them!
A legalist wants to debate the rules; but the point wasn’t which rules were the correct rules; the point was the basic way to approach God. We emphasize that it is based not on what we do for Him, but it is based on what He has done for us in Jesus Christ!
If we desire good lives, it is not found in fulfilling our dreams, gaining respect, or becoming celebrities. Rather, it is found in a life lived in the fear of the Lord for there is found wisdom!
Church, we are the blessed nation that God has chosen as His inheritance. His plans for us and through us cannot be stopped. God works through us and many other things, but does not depend on them for victory!
Christians’ sins are no less egregious than those who don’t believe. The price that was paid for those sins is still Jesus’ blood on the cross. The believer's sin should never breed nonchalance or guilt but always conviction, always sanctification, and always remorse.
David was again filled with hope and courage to face whatever was ahead. Sounds like some practical stuff we could all benefit by in this ever changing world.
But the best take away for us is to be big picture minded like David, not only being about the here and now and our temporal comfort but also about being prepared for eternity.
The best take away for us is to be big picture minded like David! Not only being about the here and now and our temporal comfort, but also about being prepared for eternity.
Beholding God's glory is the means in which we receive comfort.
In some ways the glory of God is best expressed by his undeserved goodness toward us!
When we reflect on the eagerness of our Lord to hear, and His ability to help. . . is there any good reason for not directing all our appeals at once to the God of our salvation?
This question can be understood as referring to both in the present as well as in the future. Here and now we can join Paul in saying, “if God is for us who can be against us?” -Romans 8:31
We know David was a rascal, but what was also said of him? A man after God’s heart
Again, God’s Economy is quite different from ours. We look at the outside, at results, but God looks at the heart. The Lord could discern that David had been consistent in his persistence.
We can be “Perfectly” committed… “Holy” in desire “without wavering.”
It's not just for David, it’s for all of us! When times are tough, when life gets rough, we have a Friend and God who has showed us how to abide in him.
This is a Psalm of ascent, to be sung and danced to while David brought the Ark of the Lord of hosts into the city of David.
The rod was an extension of the shepherds right arm. He used it to protect His flock and would use it to discipline and correct any wayward sheep!
People who have died and returned are not like Yeshua.... they will die again. We have to take off our natural bodies and put on our heavenly bodies to live forever!
There are many qualities and attributes of God that he shares with us and desires for us to share with Him. However, there are are a few that we should not partake in... and vengeance is one of them.
“Far from helping me”... How many of us have felt this way? As though God is distant, inattentive, or uninterested in us. We can relate to David in this way.
Join us this week as we gather together on Waikiki Beach for our Easter Sunrise Celebration!
Jesus thus far has been called King, Son of David, but when asked by the people, they say He is just a prophet. Here we start to see the true heart of what is happening in this scene. They don’t get the true reason He had come!
We trust in the Lord because of His love and loyalty for us through his salvation. Through his salvation and love, “I will not be shaken!” Stability is always found in understanding the name of the Lord, His nature, His reputation, and character just as David did.
Jesus Christ on the cross was our “once and for all” sacrifice. The bronze altar was a foreshadow of the cross. It caused the worshiper to start from a position of humility. So if we start out at the altar... it will alter our day!
These hidden faults in verse twelve are what we categorize as sins of ignorance, unawareness, and secret. They are the sins that we commit without realizing, not deliberate sin we try to hide.
The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. That’s what the Word does, It’s pure and allows us to get to the bottom of things, to see clearly. Just think of how little the concept of pure is today…?
All peoples everywhere are moved by the beauty of creation, but it is also important to distinguish that it is the glory of God; Not merely the glory of creation.
David’s not being prideful, but rather attributing every ability and victory to the LORD! Everything he had done and everything he now enjoyed was due to the Lord’s enabling. David did this ...and was able to do this... only because of Him!
This book will keep you from sin and sin will keep you from this book. The word of God is powerful… just look at Jesus when He was tempted.
David’s constant use of “my” in these verses continue to tell of the intimacy that David enjoys with the Almighty. I am God’s possession, creation, son, and bondservant. To say “my God” is not to take possession of the Almighty as though I own Him, but rather say that I am His!
David was assured that the Lord would control his life in the face of death and… He rejoiced because God enabled his body to rest securely… even when confronted with death.
Join us this week as Pastor David Blevins shares from his heart on "What is a Disciple?"
David reveals that if someone were to go into the presence of the Lord in Zion, they must be an obedient and righteous servant. The wicked and the hypocritical need not apply!
Even though the unbelievers are not looking up, God is always looking over; And what is He watching for? Our hearts cry!
We all go through suffering in this world. In times of suffering we can be comforted that we are not alone. God is faithful, not just to provide comfort, but assurance that we can rejoice in Him because He has dealt bountifully with us.”
Often people struggle with their faith because hope was placed somewhere it was never meant to be. We try to attach God’s perfect name to some idea that we did not find in scripture. If we did not find it in scripture we have twisted it to grant us worldly pleasure or desires. What we can be assured of is the Lord's faithfulness and love for us.
This invitation is not just one of salvation, but it is a daily invitation to know the person of Jesus. Not just daily, but moment to moment; To know Jesus and learn from Him. To witness His humility and gentleness. It is a shame that this invitation so often goes unanswered not just in salvation but in the daily lives of Christians.
This part of the Jesus story is probably the best Incorrectly known part of the entire Bible. The Bible does not mention that they were kings, or that they made it to the manger scene, or that there were only three of them. So, all of this begs the question: Who were these guys? And why were they looking for a Jewish king?
For us to find trust in the faithfulness of God for today and tomorrow we must look to the evidence of His faithfulness in the past. He who has proven Himself faithful will continue to prove Himself faithful. Mary here grants us an example of the proper posture of the heart when facing things far above and beyond our strength.
Try this Christmas to make every ornament, every tree, every song, a reminder and encouragement that your God is faithful and true to bless you and protect you.
Today’s message is a very simple point, and that’s the danger often we stumble over “The too simple” ... such as God loves you!
The reason society follows image is, it truly believes there is nothing else, nothing more important or more powerful than their “gods”. The sooner any of us realize who it is we will have to answer too, the better our lives will get! The less we will focus on image, and the more we focus on our creator.
To be at peace in the midst of chaos and uncertainty, a christian only needs to be reminded that God’s moral order and kingdom are not of this world, and cannot be overthrown!
You're going to have a tough time if your question to God is always “Why”? We need to learn to change that too, "What God are you teaching me? What am I to see or learn?"
Theology lived out during affliction expresses itself in praise, proclamation, prediction, and petition.
David is amazed that mortal humanity should have such a responsibility. He is realizing and pondering how he is such an insignificant creature in the universe and yet God cares for him immensely!
If you start to defend yourself, you’ll never stop. It will suck all your time and energy and it will distract you from doing anything meaningful for God.
You have faith, you know God is in control. But God will deliver you in the end doesn’t spare you from the languishing of the current season you're in. The christian life is not pain, mistake, or broken proof.
David’s appeal to enter into the house of the Lord is based on the love of God. It is only by God that we enter into the temple of God. This is the message of the gospel!
Faith is like a muscle, it must be worked out to be enlarged. If you feel like you’ve been broken down or beat up, take hope... for that is when David was enlarged!
It must really tick the devil off to think that creatures like David, like us, have been given the very thing he strived so hard to have. That God's glory becomes our glory when we give Him praise, thanksgiving, and worship!
This week, Pastor Waxer Tipton and Pastor Maiola Vivas both speak about how Psalms 2 relate to our current everyday life and the times.
All of the nutrients and nourishment it needs to fruit and grow. Apart from the vine even the largest healthiest greenest branches can not thrive.
Join us this week as guest speaker Krish Dhanam talks about being confident in our faith!
God calls us to repent because he desires that all would find life! He takes no pleasure in the destruction of the wicked. The call to repent is rooted in God’s grace, mercy, patience, faithfulness, love, and compassion.
God is justified when He speaks. When He pronounces judgement against sin He is righteous and good!
God’s sovereign care for the body of Christ reminds us of His sovereign care for us. Providence. Will He not also care for the body of Christ as the church lives?
Today we’re going to see what I call “The Others”. So far the narrative has closely followed Jesus and His disciples; But now we see the other disciples. Those not named among the twelve, but who still follow Jesus or recognize who He is.
This was the moment in which Jesus took upon himself the full wrath of God upon sin... the sin of all the world for our sake!. Mark only records Jesus say, “My God my God why have you forsaken me?”. This was no doubt a victory cry. This was the Lion of the tribe of Judah roaring in victory over sin!
Jesus did not need to prove Himself to be God to come off the cross to the Pharisees. It was already written to what happened to Him. There is evidence all around us to who Jesus is, are we willing to believe or make up excuses of the evidences?
Some see the cross as the end of Jesus’ ministry; But this is as foolish as seeing your wedding day as the “End of Dating” after marriage. I didn’t end something the day I got married… I entered in to something even more amazing! Something richer, deeper, and more consistent!
Who did the rabbis teach was the only one who could cleanse leprosy? God! If the priests declared the leper clean but rejected the One who cleansed him, their unbelief would be incriminating evidence against them.
Prayer is great in times of crisis, but it is even more effective when we are prepared for whatever may come by being filled in the spirit. That’s the thing about tragedy, most often it comes unexpected.
But our God is patient and kind! He bears our imperfections with love and grace, believes wholeheartedly in us, is filled with hope over who we are, and joyfully endures our process of sanctification.
Jesus had just come from the house of Simon the Leper… where a woman lavished on Jesus a great act of honor and worship… though she probably didn’t know it, Jesus said, “She has anointed my body for the burial.” Now, one day later, he and his disciples are preparing for the Passover and Jesus’ thoughts and intent are from here on focused on the cross.
Why was The Son of Man anointed with spikenard before the Passover and Unleavened Bread? It was a symbol which showed that He is the Messiah/Christ, chosen because his life was unleavened and precious in value. And the very costly pure nard will be broken and poured out, through burial, for many.
What Jesus was first responding to was the coming destruction of the temple, but they included the end of the age thinking they were one and the same.
What Jesus had been trying to convey to them and us is that His retirement plan is awesome; And it’s benefits are out of this world …“behold what wonderful stones and what wonderful buildings!”
God celebrates the faith of those who trust in Him with all that they own. Giving to God through our time, talent, and treasures isn't just about what we are giving but the heart behind it. To God, what you are giving from is more important than what you are giving too.
Listen in this week with our guest speaker Don Piper. We all have a journey in life and a testimony to give. Join in in as Don Piper shares his testimony!
There is almost no better way to command absolute love for another person than to say, love them the way that you naturally love yourself. Even the people who say I hate myself - still at the deepest part of their heart desire their own well being. This text is not calling us to neglect ourselves either. Only to love our neighbor with the same type of tenacity, intentionality, commitment that we choose for ourselves.
Join us for our Easter 2021 service as we run into a Shepard while he is out looking for his lost sheep Jacob!
Acknowledge that you’ve been made by Him, for Him, in His image. Through our faith in the Jesus, we become radiant image bearers again, because He fills us with His spirit and conforms us to His likeness.
Here’s what sin is; It’s taking our lives, made in the image of God, for God, by God and using all of our ability, our capacity, and our talent in rebellion against God. To live for our own praise, with our own purpose, in our own way. The consequence of this rebellion is death and separation. But the image that is marred in sin, is restored by the blood of the perfect image of God.
In a broken world, people are lost in a cave, and it is our job as christians to help them see in a new perspective by leading them out of the cave and showing them the love of Jesus.
But Remember... Jesus came at a time when the Temple was still standing, when the Priesthood of Israel was still in effect, and when the sons of Aaron had charge over the sacrifices. The Cohanim Presented the Lambs for Sacrifice. So... shouldn’t there have been some connection, some recognition given by the priestly line. That the final and ultimate sacrifice had come?
See what? Their belief! How do you see someones belief? Their transformed life. Even when you saw the regenerative work of the spirit in their life, you still did not believe. These people were transformed, not just convinced.
God alone is the firm foundation upon which our faith, life, hope, joy, peace, and our salvation rests. To put faith in anything else is to trust in things that will fail.
So to become great in God, you must become deep in God. strengthen your roots. Make it your priority to grow deeper in the hidden and secret places and your life will bear much fruit as it is written, "The root of the righteous . . . will bear fruit." Proverbs 12:12
Jesus entering the temple should be one of the most incredible moments of anyone’s life. The Messiah, the King of Kings has come into the holy place of God. This is where the people of God should be able to come into the presence of God. Here is the righteousness, glory, exact representation of God. This should be cause for celebration.
It is an Interesting thing how subtle our loyalties and dependencies can shift. Just who it is we are asking or relying on to “Save Us”! To whom are we saying “Hosanna” too?
Let us learn from this and seek to lay our agendas down daily that we might hear what the Lord has to say, including the warnings from God, and thus be better prepared for that which is in store; The blessings, and the sufferings.
But what I like about this story is Bartimaeus had a need, he had limitations, but he did not hide behind or excuse them or even worse, condemn himself because of his condition.
They’ve Heard this before…, it's not new… but the don’t really get it … so they just set it on the back burner…. they focus on the things they want to and like. You know what happens when this happens? “SELF-tianity”!
We are going to take time to ask the Holy Spirit for revelation on the present as we reflect on the past and look to the future.
God alone brings about this grace...we have no hand in the creation or completion of God’s grace. Planned from all ages, begun, message sustained by prophets, sovereignly guided, manifested, carried out, completed, and delivered by God.
I have found that if I apply this principle more, I get upset less. I am a child of God, loved as the prodigal, and I am also in humble servitude for all that He has done.
Destruction does not negate the Builder… in fact the contrast illumines Him all the more. Our sin, our choices cost Him pain and suffering too. The only reason there is a Christmas is because we are Sinners… that need a Savior.
Christmas and the Cross are a display of God’s love and the way He deals with sin. God and Humanity have always differed in the way they deal with sin right from the Garden of Eden. The incarnation (birth) life and death of Jesus is God’s plan to deal with sin.
I hope that Christmas this year would matter more than ever. I hope every week is another week for you to embrace the coming of Christ and the love, forgiveness, help that he offers. I hope that from the darkness of the 2020, the light of Christ would re-emerge in the church.
Before we start planning our 2021, let’s first plan our lives. Who are you gonna meet with this year? What small group will know your name and your struggles? Let's use the acronym S.A.F.E. to stay safe by being closer to God this upcoming year!
This man sadly only heard the words “give up” but not “and follow Me”. Jesus was not speaking about people who have riches, but riches that have people. If you don’t have God ...you’ll find one!
This is a topic that is very difficult, divorce is painful! God hates divorce because He sees all the pain it causes. Divorce itself is not a sin, but to divorce a spouse wantingly and willingly does become sin.
Jesus is saying, deal violently and directly with any part of your being… Your hobbies, activities, schedule, location, or whatever makes you stumble, cut it out, tear it out, throw it away from you!
Something I’ve noticed... Christians have no problem talking about being a servant until they are treated like one.
This message is to look at the Ecclesial Church authority and civic authority and to help you to know how to abide in Christ and the State governing authorities to better equip us as we move forward.
Where the disciples may have failed, may in fact be the same place we all fail. The boys father did not see his desire for he went to the wrong people. The disciples did not see God's work, for they thought they could serve for God. We are merely the messengers, the conduit to a great and amazing miracle working God!
Peter and the disciples are given a glimpse into the glory of Christ. Though there is ultimate glory to be had in eternity, God’s plan for glory on earth brings us through suffering. Jesus is our example of suffering well and trusting in the glory to come.
People had many false ideas about the concept of the “Messiah”. Many believed he would be a political, nationalistic figure; coming to free the Jews from the Romans. But of course, God had a much bigger plan and broader deliverance!
From now on, the underlying deeper questions Mark is leading us to is: What kind of Messiah is He, and what does it mean to follow Him?
Like this man, we all were once blind spiritually, blinded by satan, blinded by sin, but when you honestly came to Jesus, a miracle began to happen!
They reject this Messiah BECAUSE He included the gentiles into the plan. It infuriated them, offended them, that he calls tax collectors, dined with adulterers, befriended sinners, pursued demoniac, touched the unclean, raised the dead, called the lowly, surrounded himself with the sick, spoke with women, etc.
“I have compassion on the crowd” Theses are some of the most tender words from Jesus' lips. He is giving the disciples a glimpse into His heart. Those who put Jesus first were recipients of His compassion.
Do we see the need in others and feel such compassion for them that we are compelled to bring them to Jesus. He’s the only one who can heal all things. Pride is one of the most dangerous sins, humility brings the grace of God.
At this point Jesus is testing if she is mimicking or truly believing. She knew the “lingo” … but, did she know the man? She imitated the “religion”… but failed miserably, until she got real and came in brokenness and emptiness before Jesus.
You see, The Lord Wants Both... Righteous Actions Done by a Righteous Heart. How is the heart cleansed, the Word! How do we keep from the sin of Traditionalism? Standing on the Word of God alone!
But God is not about the ways and plans of humanity... So notice, while He was sending the multitude away, His objective in this was to put an end to the misdirected exhilaration of their ideas... and an idea the disciples themselves may have been somewhat drawn to. How often God has to protect us from ourselves?
We ask the Same Question of God all the time, “What good would that do”? The key to changing our world is found right here! Give what you got! You got skills, bring em! Each one reach one! One day, one person, at a time.
We should be able to rightly identify sin in our own lives and others and if we love our fellow believers, we bring their attention to their sin. If they love us they should do the same. As believers we are to be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger.
200 years ago before Christianity had even begun to be established in a Hawai’i, a Native Hawaiian man, a missionary embarking on his first mission preached the gospel at Park Street Church in Boston Massachusetts. That man was Thomas Hopū of Kailua-Kona, Hawai’i.
They were to fulfill a special commission and bring back a report
so Jesus’ unique instructions pertained only to that particular mission. Jesus was establishing priorities. This is where you start, in your home country... start where you’re at.
So, too, as we develop a closeness with Jesus, let us never forget that because He is God, He deserves our utmost respect and devotion, submission and reverence. He has the right to our time, money, abilities, energy, life, and heart as God, Jesus has the right to all we are.
Dads, whom do you need to bless? Humble Yourself Likewise, become a blessing to your family and others… pray for, over & with your family.
Being a synagogue official he had money and position, but NONE OF THAT meant anything to him at this moment! It's funny how so many objections go out the window when we see hardships in life.
We seem to get this idea of Satan running amuck down here, and God is helpless guess who in fact, is giving Satan permission to destroy... we are, and God, by his love for us, is giving us that choice for love is not love without choice.
Mark here has really given his readers a powerful proclamation. It can’t just be brushed aside! Who Alone but God has such Power and Compassion?
As we recently were reminded, Jesus style was to speak through parables which He Adapted to “Their Levels” of Understanding… I love that… farmers, fishermen, scribes… and the same is true today.
Today we’ll be in Mark 4:21-25. Let’s lean in to see how Jesus uses 3 key things to give us greater understanding of his Word spoken in the parable of the 4 soils and continuing into verses 21-25; And these 3 keys apply universally to understanding God’s Word.
God's got you mom! In the time of her trouble, trial, and difficulty, she gave what she could to someone else… we can see why the Lord chose this widow in 1 Kings 17.
What is a Parable? Simply, it’s a little story with a big message. They were simple; yet deep.
Jesus says your logic is flawed. You’ve judged me solely from other people’s representation rather than who I revealed myself to be. Do you think I’m too small to right every wrong and use every hurt for good if I spoke the universe into existence? How do you expect to know my plans if my ways are infinitely higher than yours?
Jesus summons those whom He Himself wanted… Jesus does not call these men out of some disinterested obligation of duty. He calls them because He wants them, He chooses them out of His own love for them.
When did Jesus die? On any Special Day? And when was He in the Tomb? So then, when what day did He rise?
Today is the day that we see Him alive... But what made this morning so incredible, so world changing was how the world last saw Him; dead, beaten, bloodied, and wearing a crown of thorns.
The people thought the Parade Was “Political” but the Angels knew it was Prophetical...all these things happened coinciding together to fulfill God's plan.
God, what are you doing in all of this and how can I join you in it?Lord, What are you saying and how can I hear you better? What are the works of God waiting to be revealed in me and in each of us through this?
Do you have hope or do you fear? Place your hope in God and do not fear the things of this world. Faith in God and His word is the anti-doe to our fears.
