The Goethe Girls: Recent Episodes

Heather Parisi and Jessica Kriegshauser

We're Heather and Jessie and we grew up in South Saint Louis on a street called Goethe, which we pronounce as "GO-THEE". We have been best friends for a very long time and we've been through everything together. When Jessie moved to Kansas City in 2019, we started having weekly conversations which we use to not only catch up with each other, but to reminisce on what it was like growing up in the '80s and '90s. We also share all the great things we've learned over the years, and we offer each other a lot advice, love, and support. We talk about everything under the sun and we invite you to join us each Wednesday for these entertaining and helpful conversations which we call "best friend therapy".

Do you ever feel completely alone, or that no one would understand something you're going through, and that you have no one to talk to? Well, we are here to prove you wrong. This week Heather discovered that there are support groups for just about anything, so we talked about how important and helpful these can be no matter what you're going through.  We also explain what the "Talk and Clean" is, and we learn that Heather's cats like to make biscuits.

When we have unexplained feelings like this, it helps to look at all things around us that can influence or change our mood, especially social media. This week Heather and Jessie talk about their experiences with social media and the negative impacts it has had on their mental health. The good news is, you don't have to avoid all social media completely. You can just make a few minor changes that will help keep you in a happier place but will still allow you to see what all your friends are doing, thinking, eating, etc.

Communicating with others in our lives can be challenging, whether it's with a significant other, a friend, a co-worker, or a complete stranger. Most of us, even those of us who are perfect, struggle with communicating with others even if we don't realize it. This week Heather and Jessie discuss a listener suggested topic; being friends with a member of the opposite sex. They also discuss self-care, relationships, sleepwalking/talking kids, and so much more. If you listen closely, you'll hear our special guest speaker, Sky, as she randomly talks and "eats" in her sleep. Join us for a sort of okay conversation, and complete chaos.

This week Heather and Jessie go out of their way to illustrate the level of professionalism that can be expected from this podcast (or lack thereof). They discuss the difficulties of adulting, childhood shows from the '80s and '90s that are being remade, Heather reads some of our download stats, Jessie struggles to form words, and more! But most importantly, we have a great time and we want you to come along!

Join us as we talk like a couple of little old ladies. We discuss how things were better when we were younger, how kids today just can't cut it like we used to, and we really just show our age. There's also a special segment where Jessie struggles to remember how old she is and Heather comes in to save the day.

It's our first full episode and it's chock full of fun. Heather shares her suggestions on ways to make Christmas shopping a little easier, while Jessie talks about pants (or a lack thereof). Join us as we talk about kids embarrassing us and ways we have embarrassed ourselves (and we've only scratched the surface of that topic).
