In this week's episode, David and Charles discuss and answer some questions about CCGs from one of our listeners.
With so much push back on loot boxes in the past year (specifically those that provide mechanical benefit), is the old school model of booster packs for CCGs even viable today? It’s interesting that Artifact will allow players to buy and sell cards on the Steam marketplace, but I’m still hesitant. Are there other CCGs in the mobile space that are finding success with different models? Is there enough room for three big CCGs and how do they provide value for a player’s collection if they eventually rotate out cards and succumb to power creep? Is it even technically possible for Valve to allow buying/selling of cards on mobile?
