One question I received from so many teachers who are struggling to make a career transition is, how am I supposed to make time for all of this? Grading, lesson planning, communication with parents, all the meetings, the never ending to do list for teachers easily creates 60 to 70 hour work weeks sometimes before you even realize it, you are exhausted and burned out and potentially struggling mentally, and it is really hard to stay productive in a career search during this time. That is why in this episode I am going to lay out my top five tips to staying productive during your job search. Free Quiz: What career outside of the classroom is right for you? Daphne Gomez: One of the most challenging parts of switching careers from teaching is identifying your next path. You probably feel overqualified, under-qualified, or just simply have too many job titles in mind to even really feel like you can start researching or moving on to the very next steps. If you feel completely overwhelmed by this task, just know that you are not alone. And that is why I brought on career clarity expert Emily Schultz to come share her tips for teachers who are feeling pulled in all of these different directions. In this episode, I interview someone on team Teacher Career Coach that I could not work without, Sarah Mill. For as long as Sarah can remember, she wanted to be a teacher. But after just 3 years of teaching high school English, she started to panic that it wasn't what she wanted it to be. After year 4, a mix of feeling stifled by the system and an opportunity to move across the country gave her the push she needed to try something new. Now she's successfully navigating the world of freelance writing while traveling around the country with her fiance. This interview is a great listen for anyone wanting to be a freelancer OR a copywriter as we touch on both subjects almost equally.Read the transcript here!
