Aryn's Top 5 CliftonStrengths are: Futuristic, Activator, Communication, Arranger and Woo
Jill Amend passed away at 73 years old September 28, 2025 in Lufkin, Texas. She grew up alongside her beloved older sister and younger brother. As the middle child, she shared a special bond with both, always protective and tenderhearted—even crying whenever her little brother was disciplined!
Jill was a beloved elementary school teacher, Mom to Preston, Aryn and Phillip and Gigi to 7 grandchildren.
Known as the “mother of the neighborhood,” Jill had a gift for welcoming others with warmth, kindness, and plenty of home-cooked meals. Her home was always open - filled with laughter, homemade pies that rivaled those of her mother and grandmother, and the joy of family and friends gathered around the table. Summers often meant cousins and family filling the house, and Jill always delighted in making her house a place where everyone felt at home
Aryn (her daugther) talks about the many endearing qualities of her mom Jill in this episode. She Aryn is the founder and owner behind Oyster Creek Studios and Oyster Creek Collection, a vibrant lifestyle brand known for creating timeless, livable homes layered with color, character, and personality.
Aryn, her husband, and their two boys now reside in East Texas, where they love living among the piney woods and enjoying a slower pace of life outside the hustle and bustle of Houston. When she’s not designing beautiful homes or dreaming up new furniture pieces, Aryn loves hosting gatherings at her home, Creole Casa. You can usually find her treasure hunting through estate sales, antique malls, and thrift shops, always on the lookout for one of a kind finds, in between cheering her boys on from the sidelines at all their sports and activities.

After almost 5 years in NYC, she recently moved to Charleston, where she now works out of her art studio downtown. Kelsey travels often for events and collaborations. Kari's Top 5 CliftonStrengths are: Woo, Activator, Communication, Connectedness & Developer
In 1998, at her first Cru Winter Conference, Kari stood to her feet as Bill Bright laid out a challenge inviting students to fully surrender their lives to Christ. Though she had no idea what that meant at the time, it launched her toward a life of connecting others to Jesus.
Kari spent 15 years with Cru’s campus ministry, leading teams in Texas and Oklahoma, but it was her time in Ethiopia that shaped her heart for the world. Gripped by a desire to reach the unreached, she spent five years as a Global Missions Director before joining Jesus Film Project in 2017. (total yrs on staff 24)
Kari’s love for connecting the body of Christ to kingdom resources along with her experience serving in Global Partnerships, Global Expansion, and Digital Strategies naturally led to her current role as Director of Global Expansion. She brings two decades of experience to her role and a passion for seeing the Great Commission fulfilled.
When she isn’t on a plane, she enjoys hosting others in her Atlanta home. You might stop by for a bowl of jambalaya but you’ll stay for a life-giving dose of southern hospitality.

Jamie's Top 5 CliftonStrengths are: Learner, Connectedness, Relator, Strategic & Input
Jamie is a native Austinite who grew up making music in the church. She has a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from The University of Texas and has been teaching music and singing professionally for 16 years. Her worship experience began early, as a cantor in the Catholic Church, often singing with her Baptist father and big brother, and her music path continued after college as a contract musician and choir director for several Presbyterian congregations in Austin. Thanks to her broad professional experience and family history, Jamie has a passion for ecumenism and has participated in worship in many denominations across the city.
When she’s not making music, you can find her on Bull Creek trail, probably listening to Bible Project podcasts and accompanied by her dog, Theo (a.k.a. The Most Excellent Theophilus). The pandemic increased her passion for writing and gardening, leading to several published articles and a blog about the lessons she learns while trying to grow things in Central Texas.

Aryn's Top 5 CliftonStrengths are: Futuristic, Activator, Communication, Arranger & Woo
Aryn is a proud native Houstonian with a love for interiors and all things design. After graduating from Baylor University in 2006 with a Bachelor’s degree in General Family and Consumer Science, she worked for nearly 13 years as a health and safety professional for a large electric power and gas pipeline company.
In 2015, she and her husband found a lot on Oyster Creek near Houston that immediately captured their hearts. God had a big plan for them on Oyster Creek and they were excited about this next chapter He had in store for them. Soon after they purchased the lot, they started the design process of building their first custom home from the ground up.
During this process, she truly discovered a passion for interior design and an appreciation for architecture, custom trim work and cabinetry, trade lighting, and interior furnishings. She started documenting our building process on social media and before long, friends and friends of friends, and neighbors began to ask her for design help.
In the spring of 2019, she retired from “corporate America” and became a stay-at-home mom for about a month. Clearly that did not last long, and she decided to work full-time as lead designer and owner for Oyster Creek Studios.

Mandy is a small town farm girl from Illinois who now lives in Mesa, Arizona.
She is the Engagement Champions for CoreClarity, Inc.. CoreClarity’s proprietary framework begins with an individual’s CliftonStrengths® results, then takes a deep dive into understanding the things we don’t notice: our innate talents. Talents are those naturally recurring patterns of thought, feeling and behavior that can be productively applied. In other words, these are the things we do on autopilot that someone is willing to pay us to do.
In her 9 years with CoreClarity, Mandy has witnessed the powerful impact of their model firsthand. For more than 17 years, CoreClarity programs have positively impacted individuals, couples, teams and organizations. From teens to octogenarians; students to entrepreneurs to corporate executives; this system is the closest tool we have to writing each individual’s personalized “instruction Manual.”
Mandy has a gift for helping individuals connect deeply with their true selves so they can live vibrant, meaningful lives full of passion, purpose and presence. Using her degree in Tourism Management from the University of Illinois, her background in event planning and the CoreClarity model, Mandy has created a unique experience that leaves her clients with more than just a hike in the mountains. Her program, Meaning in Motion, helps mentor people through a journey of self-discovery that marries her love of the outdoors with her talent for bringing out the best in others.
Mandy sparks energy and elevates organizational alignment. With a strong intuition, she is most at home when honoring an individual’s perspective and offering a positive lens or encouraging words as they sort through their thoughts. With a passion for connecting others with their best self, she finds joy in helping individuals discover what makes them tick. You can find Mandy connecting with existing and prospective clients, coaching individuals, developing educational opportunities that strengthen our facilitator community, and enhancing resources that inspire us toward our greatest potential as an organization.

Kristin's Top 5 CliftonStrengths are: ACTIVATOR, ADAPTABILITY, CONNECTEDNESS, POSITIVITY & COMMUNICATION
Kristin is on a mission to love her neighbors. She put a picnic table in her front yard, painted it turquoise, and began inviting neighbors, friends, and even strangers, to hang out and do life together at The Turquoise Table.
A new concept of hospitality unfolded in her neighborhood, and before long The Turquoise Table led to a movement of Front Yard People—ordinary people who long to create community right where they live.
Today, there are Turquoise Tables all across America-- in all fifty states and in thirteen countries. Turquoise Tables have become a symbol of hospitality, a safe place to sit down and connect, welcoming friends and strangers alike.
As founder of The Turquoise Table and Front Yard People movement, Kristin travels the country speaking at conferences and events with an encouraging word on how to open our lives and homes to others.
Kristin is the author of the book The Turquoise Table: Finding Community and Connection in Your Own Front Yard and the host of The Turquoise Table Podcast. Her inspirational story has been featured in popular media outlets, including The Today Show, Good Housekeeping Magazine, Country Living Magazine, Christianity Today, and Focus on the Family.
Kristin lives in Austin, Texas, with her husband, Tony, and their four children.
While her favorite color may be turquoise, Kristin bleeds burnt orange for The University of Texas and believes the answer to world peace might involve a bowl of queso and salty tortilla chips.
