How many people do you know who struggle with their health? Chances are, whether they show it or not, most of the people in your life do. And chances are, you’re one of them — whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, endometriosis, pcos, acne, eczema, psoriasis, autoimmune, thyroid conditions, lyme disease, brain fog, or fatigue. You’re far from alone. Living with symptoms has become the new normal. Much of the time, people coexist with their ailments, accepting them and never questioning why science and research hasn’t offered answers, as suffering has become the status quo. Sometimes though — an increasing amount of the time now — people’s symptoms start to impede their quality of life. They start to lose joys and privileges. They join the hidden army of those stuck at home or even in the hospital with mystery health issues. As they consult doctor after doctor and expert after expert and have trouble functioning on a day to day basis, their spark starts to go. They lose hope. No one is safe from becoming ill. With what were up against in today’s world and what that’s doing to our bodies, nobody is guaranteed that one day down the road, they won’t develop their first set of symptoms when they least expect it. Join Dr Hugh Wegwerth D.C. for this eye opening podcast, where he shares unique, original, advanced medical information decades ahead of science and research, that millions all around the world are already using to heal, and overcome chronic illness. If you want to keep the wool over your eyes, this podcast isn’t for you.
Three Cipro Pills Changed Her Life: April’s Fluoroquinolone Toxicity Recovery StorySchedule Zoom call click here
April was healthy, active, and worked out every day. Then she took only three Cipro pills for a suspected urinary tract infection.
Soon after, her health began to fall apart.
In this powerful podcast episode, April shares her personal experience with Cipro side effects, fluoroquinolone toxicity, and her long road toward fluoroquinolone toxicity recovery.
She developed many serious symptoms, including:
April explains how doctors could not find the cause of her symptoms. Some believed she only had anxiety or depression. However, April knew something was wrong with her body.
Her husband later researched Cipro and found stories from other people who had been harmed by fluoroquinolone antibiotics.
What You Will Learn in This Episode
April and Dr. Hugh Wegwerth discuss:
Her Progress Today
April’s tremors are now much smaller and happen less often. Her sleep has improved. Her hair loss has slowed down. She gained her weight back and feels stronger, happier, and more hopeful.
Her story shows that fluoroquinolone antibiotic damage reversal may require many small steps. There may not be one pill or one simple answer.
April worked on several areas of her health, including:
This is not a story about one miracle supplement. It is a story about listening to the body, finding the right support, and refusing to give up.
Functional Medicine Support for Antibiotic Injury
Many people search for functional medicine for floxed patients because their symptoms are complex. Each person may have different problems that need to be addressed.
Some people may also search for a Levaquin toxicity specialist because Levaquin and Cipro are both part of the fluoroquinolone antibiotic family.
April’s message is simple:
You are not alone. Listen to your body. Keep searching for answers. Take recovery one step at a time.

Could Your Eyes Be Causing Dysautonomia, Brain Fog, and Anxiety?
In this episode, Dr. Hugh Wegwerth explains how your eyes may be adding stress to your brain and nervous system.
You will learn about a simple visual test called the Troxler Effect. This test uses a red dot and a green circle to see how well your brain filters out things that are not changing.
When your brain and eyes are working well, the green circle should fade away. If it does not fade, your eyes, brain, vestibular system, or cerebellum may be under stress.
This may be linked to symptoms like:
Dr. Hugh also explains why vision is so important for brain health.
Your eyes send a huge amount of information into your brain every second. If your eyes are not moving and focusing the right way, your brain may stay on high alert.
This can make your nervous system feel like it is always looking for danger.
In this episode, you will learn:
This episode is not about guessing. It is about asking a better question:
Could your eyes be one missing piece in your brain and nervous system problems?

When blood sugar goes too low or too high, your cells may not get steady fuel. This can lead to poor energy, brain fog, fatigue, poor sleep, and slower healing.
Dr. Hugh explains why the blood sugar “sweet spot” is important for people with chronic illness, autoimmune issues, fibromyalgia, gut problems, thyroid problems, and people recovering from antibiotic damage.
In this episode, you will learn:
Dr. Hugh also shares a real client example showing how eating more consistently helped improve sleep and energy. He explains how tracking blood sugar can reveal patterns that regular testing may miss.
Key takeaway:
If your blood sugar is going too high or too low, your mitochondria may struggle to make energy. Before spending money on advanced therapies, it is important to check the basics first.

Your lymphatic system is like your body’s cleanup crew. It helps move waste, toxins, mold, heavy metals, bacteria, and other unwanted junk out of your body.
But here is the problem.
If your lymphatic system is slow or stuck, those toxins may sit in your tissues, blood, liver, and gut. This can make it harder for your body to heal.
Dr. Hugh explains this in simple terms so you can understand why lymph drainage matters, especially if you deal with chronic illness, fatigue, swelling, inflammation, gut problems, or toxic overload.
In This Podcast, You Will Learn:
Dr. Hugh Covers These Key Topics:
Five Simple Ways to Help Move Your Lymph:
Why This Episode Matters
If you have chronic health problems, your lymphatic system may need support. You do not always need to “detox harder.” Sometimes your body needs help moving its natural drainage system.
When lymph, liver, gallbladder, gut, and bowel movements work together, your body has a better chance to remove waste and start healing.
Listen to this episode if you struggle with:
Main Message
Your body was built with a cleanup system. But that system must move.
When your lymph system moves, your body can drain better, detox better, and heal better.

Unlocking the Secrets of Mitochondrial DNA: The Tiny Power Generators of Our Cells**
See the video https://www.drhughwegwerth.com/post/revealing-the-truth-about-mitochondrial-dna-the-unprotected-powerhouses-inside-our-cells
Episode Introduction: The Origin of Our Cells
Welcome, young explorers! Prepare to have your minds blown by a fantastic story about the tiny engines in our bodies, the mitochondria. When Mother Nature was making her blueprint of life, she put DNA in our cells, not just in the central part, the nucleus, but also in our mitochondria. Imagine this - each tiny cell in your body is like a busy city filled with 500 to 2000 mitochondria!
Diving into the Mitochondrial Mystery
Our adventure today takes us into a fantastic research study that reveals some secrets about our mitochondrial DNA. It shows that mitochondrial DNA gets more extensive and longer-lasting damage compared to nuclear DNA when they face something called oxidative stress. And oxidative stress is just a fancy way of saying the usual wear and tear of life.
The Safe Zone: Our Nuclear DNA
Now, let's take a look at our nuclear DNA. Imagine it like a top-security vault, like Fort Knox, but for DNA. The DNA inside your nucleus is protected, much like precious gold in a safe.
The Underdogs: Our Mitochondrial DNA
But now, let's turn to the mitochondrial DNA. Picture it like a big green ball (that's the mitochondrion) with DNA inside it. The surprising fact? This DNA has no protection. It's out in the open with no armor.
Impact of Oxidative Stress on Mitochondrial DNA
And what does this mean for your health? It means that anything causing oxidative stress or inflammation can harm your DNA. Yes, your mitochondrial DNA is always at risk, like a sitting duck to these harmful things.
Getting to know these basics helps us look after these tiny power generators inside our cells. This way, we can keep our bodies running smoothly for a long time. So, tune in to this episode, and let's dive deep into the secrets of our cells!

Let me tell you, this is an eye exercise that'll knock your socks off. Keep in mind, your eyes are the most advanced neurological system in your body, so if you're dealing with Dysautonomia or recovering from a concussion, this exercise is a game-changer.
Now, don't break a sweat; this exercise is as simple as pie. Print out a basic cross with a dot smack-dab in the middle. Stick that bad boy on a wall about three feet away from you. Then, lock your eyes onto that dot like a laser beam.
With your eyes fixed on the dot, move your gaze up and down, then side to side, and finally, diagonally.
Make sure you keep that dot front and center in your vision. If you start feeling anxious, fatigued, or any funky symptoms, that's a clue that Dysautonomia might be throwing a wrench in your neurological system.
But don't fret, my friend!

Well, buckle up, my friend, because this video is tailor-made for you. I'm here to spill the beans on a condition called Dysautonomia that might be lurking behind the scenes.
Let's roll up our sleeves and dig into some eye-opening research. Studies have shown that even a mild traumatic brain injury, like a concussion or getting your bell rung, can set the stage for Dysautonomia.
Here's the clincher: another study unveils that these incidents meddle with your vagus nerve. Feast your eyes on this image of the vagus nerve, the granddaddy of all nerves in your body. It starts its journey in your neck and makes its way to every single organ, making it indispensable for the smooth functioning of your heart, liver, pancreas, digestive system, and spleen.
But when a concussion or bell-ringing event rears its ugly head, Dysautonomia can throw a wrench into the finely-tuned workings of the all-important vagus nerve, which is instrumental in relaxation, digestion, and your body's overall performance. As a result, your health takes a nosedive.
Keep in mind, we're not just talking about earth-shattering, knockout concussions. Even mild ones or a series of minor traumas accumulated over time can lead to this predicament—possibly even from incidents that date back to your days in diapers.
So, if you suspect that you're wrestling with Dysautonomia or post-concussion issues, don't just sit on your hands. Reach out, and make your way to my website, where you'll discover a quiz to determine if Dysautonomia is the troublemaker.
And if you found this info worth its weight in gold, don't be shy—like, comment, and share with someone who could benefit.

In this riveting blog post, I will dive into the perplexing world of Dysautonomia, a condition that might be causing all the fuss. Buckle up, as this is the second part of a captivating five-part series.
Today, I'll unravel a straightforward home test that'll help you figure out if Dysautonomia is knocking on your door.
To kick off this DIY test, you'll need an oximeter, easily available on Amazon. The nifty device measures two vital aspects: the oxygenation of your red blood cells and, even more critically, your heart rate. Dysautonomia is notorious for triggering irregular heartbeats, making heart rate monitoring a must.
Pop the oximeter onto your finger and jot down your heart rate. In our example, it's a cool 71 beats per minute.
Now, get ready to put Dysautonomia to the test with these foolproof steps:
Close your eyes and swing your head back and forth ten times like you're grooving to your favorite tune. Check the oximeter afterward. If your heart rate skyrockets by over ten points, Dysautonomia could be lurking in the shadows.
Flick the lights on and off, stirring up some brain activity. Keep an eye on your heart rate.
If it jumps by over ten beats, Dysautonomia might be rearing its ugly head.
Enlist a buddy to clap loudly behind you, then monitor your heart rate. If it spikes after that startling sound, Dysautonomia might be the culprit.
With these easy-peasy tests, you can transform your home into a makeshift lab.
If you have an inkling that Dysautonomia's got you in its clutches, don't hesitate to reach out to yours truly and take the quiz on my website to gauge the severity of your situation.
If this intel has been a game-changer, do me a solid by liking, commenting, and sharing it with someone you care about.

Do you experience gas or bloating? You might be dealing with a condition called SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth).
Let's dive into the six common symptoms of SIBO:
1️⃣ Bloating or distension
2️⃣ Abdominal pain
3️⃣ Excessive belching
4️⃣ Acid reflux
5️⃣ Excessive gas
6️⃣ Constipation or diarrhea
SIBO occurs when bacteria from your large intestine migrate to your small intestine, where they don't belong, causing these issues.
Now, let's discuss some quick solutions:
🍽️ Clean up your diet: Adopt a Paleo diet to start, eliminating sugars that may feed the bacteria.
🥤 Add hydrochloric acid to your meals: This may help improve digestion and reduce SIBO symptoms.
If this information resonated with you, please like, comment, and share this message with someone who could benefit from uncovering the hidden culprit behind their gas and bloating.

Get ready for a mind-blowing revelation about cholesterol! Allow me to illustrate this with a picture of a cell. As you can see, the yellow structures within the cell membrane are cholesterol.
Every single one of your 100 trillion cells contains cholesterol, making up 20% of your cell membranes—including your eyes, heart, liver, pancreas, and digestive system.
In short, cholesterol is your best friend. Without it, you'd be dead! Now, let's delve into how cholesterol is connected to your steroid hormones.
As shown in this diagram, cholesterol (indicated by the red arrow) is the precursor to testosterone (green arrow), estradiol (yellow arrow), and progesterone (purple arrow). Cholesterol is the backbone of all your sex hormones!
That's why maintaining an optimal cholesterol level of around 200 is crucial for your overall health. If this eye-opening information resonated with you, please like, comment, and share this message with someone who could benefit from the astonishing truth about cholesterol.

Take a look at this lab result from one of my clients. Her vitamin D level is 16.5 (see the red arrow).
The standard lab range in the United States is between 30 and 100, but the real sweet spot is around 80.
If you have a chronic health condition, aiming for a vitamin D level of 80 is essential for optimal health.
The significance of vitamin D cannot be overstated. Every single one of your 100 trillion cells needs vitamin D. Unlike other hormones, such as testosterone or estrogen, vitamin D is required by every cell in your body.
That's why it's crucial to maintain optimal vitamin D levels, ideally around 80.
If this information resonated with you, please like, comment, and share this message with someone who could benefit from the power of vitamin D.

Let me tell you something critical. Take a close look at this lab report from one of my patients.
What you're seeing here is an often overlooked yet vital test – antibodies against your thyroid.
It reveals if you're dealing with a simple hypothyroid condition or a more complex autoimmune issue known as Hashimoto's disease.
Brace yourself: current research indicates that a staggering 90% of hypothyroid patients actually have Hashimoto's.
Now, I'm going to decode this lab report for you. The first marker is thyroid peroxidase.
My patient's result? A jaw-dropping 225 – we want it below 34. The second marker, thyroglobulin antibodies, also tells a grim tale – 6 instead of the ideal 0.9 or less.
These numbers scream one thing: autoimmune disease.
But hold on, there's more: if you have one autoimmune disease, you're likely harboring 3, 4, or even 5 others, lurking undiagnosed.
No wonder so many thyroid patients never truly recover.
The conventional medical system fails to address these underlying autoimmune issues, leaving patients suffering in silence.
Enough is enough! My mission is to tackle your autoimmune disease head-on, targeting the root cause so you can reclaim your health and vitality. If this message resonates with please share, like and comment.

Hold onto your seat because the image I'm about to reveal will leave you astounded. Let me break it down for you.
Right before your eyes is an illustration of your very own brain. More specifically, it's a visual representation of the blood flow within your brain, covering every artery and minuscule capillary.
Some of these capillaries are so tiny that they're merely the width of a single red blood cell.
Now, picture this: if your blood is thick due to inflammation, the essential blood flow and oxygen delivery to your brain will be compromised. That's precisely why it's crucial to be aware of the top three lab tests to determine if you're experiencing inflammation.
Thick blood means reduced delivery of vital nutrients and oxygen to your brain, which is far from ideal.
So, what are these three vital lab tests? First up, CRP (C-reactive protein), an overall indicator of inflammation. Aim for a reading below one.
Second, fibrinogen, which measures fibers in your blood that can cause clotting. Ideally, this should fall between 300 and 400 on lab tests.
Lastly, we have homocysteine, an inflammation marker particularly relevant to your brain. A favorable reading for this marker hovers around 5 or 6.
By monitoring these three crucial markers, you'll gain insight into whether thick blood may be the culprit behind your brain fog, fatigue, or potential future brain-related issues. If you've found this information valuable, don't hesitate to like, comment, and share this with someone you care about.

Ever found yourself grappling with a hazy brain or a seemingly energy-starved noggin? Let's dive into the enigmatic world of brain fog and brain fatigue.
Picture yourself indulging in a cocktail too many, and suddenly, your thoughts grow muddled, and your brain lags behind. Voilà, that's brain fog.
As for brain fatigue? Visualize yourself reading or watching TV, only to be engulfed by a tidal wave of weariness. These are two unique experiences, both equally mystifying.
Now, feast your eyes on this fascinating image of a neuron. Those captivating blue dots in the middle? They represent the myelin sheath. When inflammation rears its ugly head, it hinders nerve impulses as they travel along the myelin, resulting in brain fog or brain fatigue.
Through my extensive experience, I've uncovered four primary suspects behind these mind-warping sensations.
First up: food sensitivities, like gluten, dairy, or soy.
Next, consider fish oil – that essential fatty acid crucial for a healthy brain.
Thirdly, low blood pressure could be depriving your brain of the sustenance it craves.
Lastly, a concussion from days gone by might still haunt you, manifesting as brain fog or brain fatigue.

The Autoimmune Enigma: What exactly is an autoimmune disease, and how does it stealthily wreak havoc on your body? When your immune system, the ever-vigilant guardian of your health, gets thrown off course, it can mistakenly target your own tissue instead of harmful invaders. The result? A plethora of autoimmune diseases that masquerade as everything from thyroid disorders to fibromyalgia, irritable bowel syndrome, psoriasis, and rheumatoid arthritis.
The Triple-Threat Approach to Reclaiming Your Health: To fight back against autoimmune diseases and regain control of your health, focus on these three crucial areas:
Gut Check: Your gut health is paramount. Keep a watchful eye on your bowel movements, aiming for 2 or 3 times a day without gas, bloating, constipation, or diarrhea. Remember, a healthy gut is a cornerstone of overall well-being.
Mold Menace: When grappling with a chronic condition, don't overlook the insidious threat of mold exposure. Consult a trusted healthcare professional for a urine test to rule out mold toxicity and its potential impact on your health.
Sugar Showdown: Balanced blood sugar levels are non-negotiable. Say goodbye to hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia by regularly monitoring your levels and committing to a nutritious, balanced diet.
The Bottom Line: Ladies, it's time to unmask the truth about autoimmune diseases and their impact on women's health.

This is because NO (nitric oxide)plays a critical role in regulating blood flow and circulation throughout the body. When NO (nitric oxide) levels are low, blood vessels can become constricted, which can reduce blood flow to certain areas of the body. This can lead to a feeling of coldness in the affected areas, particularly in the extremities such as the hands, feet, and nose.
In addition to regulating blood flow, NO (nitric oxide) also helps to dilate blood vessels, which can improve circulation and increase blood flow to the affected areas. This is why some health supplements and products that contain NO (nitric oxide) or ingredients that support NO (nitric oxide) production are marketed as solutions for cold hands and feet. It's worth noting that there can be many different causes of cold hands, feet, or nose, and low NO (nitric oxide) levels are just one possible contributing factor.
Other factors that can contribute to coldness in these areas include poor circulation, nerve damage, Raynaud's disease, and hypothyroidism, among others. If you're experiencing persistent coldness in your hands, feet, or nose, it's important to speak with a healthcare professional to determine the underlying cause and develop an appropriate treatment plan.

Our gut, which was designed by God to be 36ft long, is only one cell thick. This means that the barrier between our outside world and our inside world (our body) is very thin - only one cell thick, in fact.
Unfortunately, the research has shown that when we're under stress, this barrier can become compromised, leading to a leaky gut.
Why is this such a dangerous thing? Well, when we have a leaky gut, undigested proteins can enter our bloodstream, causing inflammation throughout our body. This inflammation can lead to a variety of health problems, including fibromyalgia, irritable bowel syndrome, hypothyroidism, brain fog, and fatigue.
So, what does a healthy digestive system look like? You should be having 2-3 bowel movements per day with no constipation, diarrhea, gas, or bloating.
If you're experiencing any of these symptoms, it could be a sign that your gut is leaking.
And if you're under stress, it's even more important to take care of your gut health. So, what's the biggest takeaway here?
You need to figure out why your digestive system isn't working properly. And if you're looking for more information on that, be sure to check out my other videos on the topic.

They've got this term, Hypochlorhydria – it's a ten-dollar word for simply not cranking out enough hydrochloric acid. Now, if your stomach's running low on acid, you're in for a rough time digesting grub and soaking up nutrients.
That means indigestion, malnutrition, and sometimes even pesky bacterial overgrowth like SIBO.
But hold your horses, there's a nifty little at-home fix called the HCL Challenge, and it's on my website.
If you're thinking you might be running low on HCL, give me a shout, and I'll shoot you the link.
Hydrochloric acid is the real deal – it busts up carbs, fats, and proteins.
Now, after 24 years in the biz, I've seen more than my fair share of folks lacking in hydrochloric acid, and they're plagued with a heap of GI troubles. Yet, hardly anyone's given this protocol a whirl.

https://www.drhughwegwerth.com/24-reasons-you-still-have-fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia is a long-term condition that causes widespread pain and tenderness in the muscles and bones. It is often accompanied by other symptoms such as fatigue, sleep disturbances, headaches, and depression. The exact cause of fibromyalgia is not yet known, but it is thought to be related to a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Some theories suggest that it may be triggered by a physical or emotional trauma, an infection, or hormonal imbalances.
Fibromyalgia is a complex condition, and it can be challenging to diagnose because its symptoms are similar to those of other conditions.
It is important for individuals with fibromyalgia to work with their doctor to develop a personalized treatment plan that addresses their specific needs and symptoms.

Mystery Case Solved With The Correct Approach
If you are suffering from a mysterious medical condition that has been difficult to diagnose, then this may be the article for you.
What follows is an example of a client. It is important to note that this example is a fictional person, but these symptoms are extremely common in the patients I work with every day, and may even sound like symptoms you are experiencing yourself.
Let’s say we have a female patient who is:
45 years old
Premenopausal
Has both low blood pressure and low blood sugar
Low levels of iron and thyroid functions
GI problems (particularly gas, bloating, and constipation)
Low levels of vitamin D
Gluten sensitivity
Difficulty remaining asleep
What Does Not Work for This Client
The conventional system will see she is premenopausal and fatigued, and say she must be depressed. They then prescribe an antidepressant.
Next, they look at her GI problems and say it must be gerd. They give her a medication meant to reduce the amount of stomach problems, which only messes with her system even more.
Once they identify her sleeping problems, they may even add a third medication to help her sleep at night.
The process goes on and on, and soon she is pumping herself full of medications.
There is a better way.
Functional Medicine’s Approach
I would tell this client they are not crazy, that these symptoms are real, but that we can treat them as naturally as possible. The goal is not to fill them with medications, but is to increase their God-given ability to heal.
First we would run some labs to see what different readings we have. These labs often can tell us a lot more about what may be causing some of these problems. For example, she may have deficiencies or excess amounts of some nutrients which are affecting her thyroid, sleep, or blood pressure.
Speaking of which, I would immediately check blood pressure. A lot of women who come to me end up having low blood pressure. Because blood pressure is what causes nutrients to enter into your cells all over your body, if we don’t address the blood pressure, then nothing else we do will have much effect.
Next I would look at blood glucose levels over time. It is very simple and affordable to do, and we can find that she has poor sugar regulation throughout her day.
Once we find your low iron levels I would ask her about fatigue and if she has heavy menstrual cycles. She may be losing enough blood to throw off her body’s ability to regulate iron. It may also be diet related. Iron delivers oxygen to the body, so low iron will cause a lot of different problems.
Next is the thyroid. The conventional system only does the cheapest labs available for your thyroid. On the other hand, we have found that you have an autoimmune disease against your thyroid. That would lead us down an entirely different path of treatment as well.
With vitamin D, the typically acceptable range is 30-100. Anywhere in there, the conventional system will tell you that you are fine. I like to see you closer to 80, so we add vitamin D to your diet.
We also look at your food sensitivities to address your gluten and GI problems. It i

If you're watching this video and you have a chronic problem, you definitely want to watch the whole entire video. Why? Because I'm going to go over some very, very critical data that it can that can explain why you have a chronic problems and why you're chronically inflamed and why you're not getting well. So what I'm going to do right now is I'm going to go over a case. I'm going to go over some general symptoms that she presents. She's a female in her seventies, super, super great lady, wants to get better and she can meet and we put her on a guided plan. I'm just going to go over some couple clinic, real specific clinical gems that could help you out and figure out what's going on with your problem. So she comes in with she's been down by damaged by antibiotics in 2007. She has neuropathy, weak legs, pain in a hip current UTI and then poor sleep wakes up almost every hour. So these are really devastating things. And we did a variety of things. But I'm going to go over a couple key things that we did with her. So one of the key things that I do is I have all my clients take their blood sugar. It's a very, very simple process. You can buy the meter on Amazon for 30 bucks. So what we do is we check your glucose before you eat, 60 minutes, before you eat, 30 minutes after 60 minutes, after 90 minutes after.

https://www.drhughwegwerth.com/post/autoimmune-mysteries-revealedhttps://www.drhughwegwerth.com/post/autoimmune-mysteries-revealed
Many people are unknowingly suffering from an underlying autoimmune disease. If you, like so many out there, are suffering from some sort of chronic issue, but no one has been able to figure out the cause of your problems, it is likely that you too are suffering from some sort of autoimmune disease.
Putting it in Perspective
You probably are not aware of just how prevalent autoimmune diseases are in the modern world. Let’s put it into perspective by comparing autoimmune diseases to another very common genre of disease: cancer.
Cancer is a terrible disease. It has taken so many lives to the point that everyone knows someone who either has cancer, or has died from cancer. And yet the number of people who suffer from autoimmune diseases in the United States is more than double the number of people with cancer.
On top of that, autoimmune diseases cost Americans over $100 billion each year, while the cost to treat cancers rakes in $57 million yearly. And yet cancer gets $6.1 billion of funding to research cures and treatments, while autoimmune diseases only received $591 million.
In fact, 1 in every 6 Americans will suffer from an autoimmune disease each year. In contrast, 1 in every 13 Americans will suffer from heart disease, and 1 in 33 will suffer from some form of cancer.
There are over 80 different autoimmune diseases which we know of, and over 50 million Americans are currently suffering or treating their issues. Interestingly 75% of all autoimmune patients are women.
What Causes Autoimmune Disease?
Autoimmune diseases are when the body attacks itself. Your immune system incorrectly responds against your body’s own tissues. Your immune system is constantly analyzing everything in your body, and trying to determine if it is a “friend” or a “foe.” Your immune system errs on the side of aggression, so if it is confused then it will respond by attacking those tissues.
Think of it like your immune system getting drunk. It might recognize too much of a system or organ. Since having too many thyroids would be problematic, your immune system will decide to attack those tissues to remove the excess.
If your autoimmune disease goes undiagnosed or untreated, then your immune system response will continue to ramp up its response. The inflammation caused by your system attacking itself will further trigger an immune response, only worsening your condition.
What Forms Can Autoimmune Disease Take?
This can happen in almost any system in your body, but most commonly takes these forms:
Multiple Sclerosis
Celiac Disease
Crohn’s Disease
Type 1 diabetes
Asthma
Arthritis
Lupus
Eczema
Psoriasis

Dysautonomia symptoms & treatment
Dysautonomia occurs when there’s a malfunction in the autonomic nervous system (ANS). That’s the part of the nervous system that controls heart rate, blood pressure, digestion and other automatic processes in the body. In other words, things you do without having to think about them.

https://www.drhughwegwerth.com/post/whats-the-true-cost-of-labs
Why The Cost of Labs Seems So highWhen the largest portion of all bankruptcies in the United States comes from outstanding medical bills, then you know there is a problem inherent in the system.
One great example of this is the cost of labs. I would like to give you a solution to lowering the cost of your labs.
Looking at one of my own invoices for the cost of labs I had done with Quest Diagnostics (one of the largest diagnostics companies in the nation), you can see I had a wide range of tests done. The total cost came to $1,586.17, and that was just from the first page of the invoice.
Breaking it DownBack in 2013, when this invoice was sent to me, the first test (Thyroxine) cost me $140.61.
Now it costs me $8. How?
Since that I have begun working with a co-op of medical professionals who are trying to drive the cost down. To make that happen, I do not upcharge for labs. Instead, I only charge patients for whatever the lab costs me as the medical professional.
That comes out to $8.
Similarly, I am now able to get the cost of a $48 down to $5, and a $125 test down to the cost of a Starbucks order.
Why Does This Happen?
In short, it is because insurance companies are ripping you off, as well as your employer, your doctor, and more.
When your doctor bills your insurance, the cost inflates significantly for essentially no reason. What should be $400 in tests becomes $5,000, while your deductibles may be around that number or even higher.
The reason an $18 vitamin D test turns into a $270 test on your bill is insurance.
How to Lower Costs
The easiest way to lower your lab costs is to work with me. In 2013 my labs cost $805 to run, and now those same labs only cost $54.
That is a 93% discount for the same exact tests.
Right now the conventional medical system is there to rip you off and keep you sick. Using my polytherapy approach is important to healing, but also helps avoid these outrageous costs of medical care.
Remember, where there is help there is hope.

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)
LEARN THE NUMBER 1 PROTOCOL TO HELP PCOS
5 million women are affected, which makes the condition one of the most common hormonal endocrine disorders among women of reproductive age.
Youtube video https://www.drhughwegwerth.com/post/pcos-endometriosis-painful-periods-check-out-protocol
PCOS, painful cycles, and endometriosis are common problems for many women. There are a number of things you can do to reduce the side effects and pain associated with these conditions. I have created a new, simple protocol to help you take back control over your own pain, and I guarantee it is likely something you have never done in your entire life.
Some of the issues associated with PCOS include:
Excessive hair loss
Ovarian cysts
Irregular periods
Missed periods
High testosterone
Insulin resistance
Fatigue
Acne
Endometriosis can include symptoms such as:
Pelvic pain
Infertility
Excessive bleeding
Constipation
Nausea
If you are suffering from any of these symptoms or conditions, just know that there is hope to get better. It’s just a matter of using a plan to find the root cause of that pain.
Blood Sugar and Inflammation
There is a direct relationship between blood sugar and inflammation, and therefore a relationship between blood sugar and PCOS, endometriosis, and painful periods.
The protocol we will be talking about is all about tracking your blood sugar levels, and correlating it to your pain levels. We want to make sure your levels are in very consistent ranges, ideally in a range I call the “sweet spot.”
https://www.drhughwegwerth.com/post/anxiety-after-taking-antibiotics
Floxies and Anxiety
Symptoms of anxiety are more common in floxies, especially for those at an advanced stage. Anxiety in floxies is largely driven by the autonomic nervous system (ANS).
The autonomic nervous system controls involuntary muscle, heart, and gland actions in humans. It comprises the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems.
Most body functions like digestion and breathing are controlled by these components of our nervous system. When it comes to floxies, both components of the ANS perform specific acts to either suppress or amplify anxiety symptoms. Check out how they both operate below:
Sympathetic nervous system
The sympathetic nervous system of floxies prepares their body to avoid danger or fight back some symptoms and responses. These responses are commonly referred to as the “fight-or-flight” reaction. Most stages of anxiety in floxies involve the following activity:
Increase in blood pressure
Blood flow increase to the muscle, lung and essential areas to facilitate movement from perceived danger
Decreased blood flow to the reproductive and digestive systems
Activated stress hormones and neurotransmitters to support physical responses
Quick-release of glucose to aid necessary processing of energy
The unique nature of some floxies makes it unlikely that every patient will experience all actions in the above format. Some may experience one or two actions, while others may not have to deal with any of them.

In this episode, we talk about mold and its chronic inflammatory processes in the body.
Checking for Inflammatory Markers
[02:35]
One of the markers that Dr. Hugh checks is the C-reactive protein made by the liver.
It doesn't tell you why you're inflamed. Anything above lab range three tells you that you're at severe risk for cardiovascular disease and have chronic inflammation where your blood becomes thick.
[04:08]
Dr. Hugh's patient did all the conventional systems to rule out any bad stuff happening. The only solution in the system is drugs or surgery. All these medications and terrible lifestyle choices damage the body.
[04:32]
Other inflammatory markers include too much iron storage in the body, leading to organs rusting from inside out.
Mold Test
[05:14]
Testing for mold is essential. Mold has been on planet earth since the beginning of time. It has mechanisms to continue to live forever. It's a very clever pollutant and toxic to the body.
[05:54]
If you have any chronic condition, brain fog, brain fatigue, fibromyalgia, tendon problems, IBS Crohn's disease, you must rule out mold. Mold will cause havoc in everything because this causes chronic inflammatory processes.
[06:19]
Dr. Hugh discussed the simple way to check for mold is doing the urine test. The lab measures mold in your urine and finds out its source. If you have mold in your urine, you have mold in your blood.
[06:40]
Mold will cause systemic inflammation.
[07:04]
The mold that's measured is Gliotoxin. The average amount should be less than 200.
When mold sits in your gut, it allows harmful bacteria and yeast to grow.
Yeast[08:05]
Yeast produces alcohol as a byproduct. It causes brain fog and brain fatigue.
[08:34]
If you have mold in your gut, it allows yeast to grow out of control and produce alcohol. You get brain fog, brain fatigue, and chronic inflammation that affect your mitochondria.
Poly Therapy Approach
[08:59]
People are not taking into account a polytherapy approach. Dr. Hugh said that the body needs to be looked at as a whole.
[9:23]
Our body is designed to heal and function optimally. If you have a complex chronic condition, the better way to solve it is by a polytherapy approach.
Takeaway
[09:47]
If you are suffering from a chronic condition, you need to address them and do a mold check through a urine test.
[10:14]
Eliminate mold from the body and find the source. There needs to be some essential investigation into where's the mold coming from.
[10:58]
Those mold spores go throughout the entire house. It gets sucked in by your heating and cooling system throughout your house. You're breathing this every day.

In this episode, Dr. Hugh Wegwerth talks about Mitochondria and Intermittent Fasting. He answers the question of how intermittent fasting relates to our mitochondria. He discusses the importance of intermittent fasting and why we should include it in our lifestyle.
The Powerhouse of the Cell
[0:34]
A person has anywhere between 500 and 2000 mitochondria in each individual cell. This is why mitochondria are very critical because not only is it for energy production, but it's also for cell communication.
A Traditional Father
[1:00]
Dr. Hugh pursued a healthcare professional because his father died of medical errors. His father died a premature death at 69 years old, weighing 420 pounds and on 14 medications. His father came from a traditional family where dads always know everything, and the sun is always below them. His father taught him great ethics, and he loved his father dearly, but unfortunately, he died in the system.
Dr. Huge
[1:37]
When Dr. Hugh was 14 years old, he lost 80 pounds. His nickname was "Huge," derived from his first name Hugh. He then decided to change his life, and within six months, he lost 80 pounds.
Intermittent Fasting
[2:23]
Humans are doing intermittent fasting for thousands of years because we are forced to do it. Our bodies are accustomed to intermittent fasting, and our bodies love doing it because it kills our weak mitochondria.
[3:02]
When we do intermittent fasting, the weak mitochondria, which maybe have poor cell membranes, poor DNA function, or are not working on all eight cylinders, are recognized by the body, and they just die.
[3:39]
Once the weak mitochondria die, a process called Autophagy occurs, and the proteins and resources in those dead mitochondria are then consumed by healthy mitochondria. The weak ones are consuming and using up resources, but the energy it's producing is not very good quality.
[4:10]
Let's put more faith in our body's healing ability than intelligence within our body. This is an intelligent mechanism where God designed us with an incredible healing mechanism very intelligent. No medicine man will ever be able to know the intelligence in our body. When we're fasting, that's when these weak mitochondria come to the forefront.
The 80's Craze
[5:15]
The 80s craze was low fat. It was replaced with sugar, but at the end of the day, fat makes everything taste good. When the fat was eliminated, it was replaced with sugar on all the food there was.
What happens when you consume sugary products is your glucose goes up, and a hormone called insulin goes up, and those bathe your cells in inflammation.
6 Small Meals per Day
Even in the 2000s, they tell you that fats are going to kill you, but in reality, fat does not kill you. Healthy fats are what you need. Bad fats l

In this episode, Dr. Hugh Wegwerth DC, passionate about functional medicine and functional neurology with over two decades of herbal medicine experience, remains committed to a holistic approach to wellness treatments for his patients and has traveled worldwide to acquire a high level of expertise that surpasses conventional medicine. Today, Dr. Hugh talks about iron and its importance, especially to women, and how solutions for this problem must be created.
Ferritin Status
[00:50]
Dr. Hugh explained how a person's ferritin level is not prioritized enough in the conventional system despite its importance in people's red blood cells and oxygen delivery.
[01:04]
There are thirteen different iron panels examined to study a person's iron status. However, in the conventional system, Dr. Hugh affirmed that these tests are irrelevant if no treatment is done.
[02:20]
In functional medicine, the sweet spot pertains to a ferritin marker between 40 to 80 with a lab range of 20 to 200.
[02:53]
Ferritin is an iron marker stored in a specific location, such as the heart, liver, pancreas, or muscles. Dr. Hugh believes that it is important to get the Ferritin marker checked. It is simple and checks for the possibility that symptoms, such as bloating, constipation, or diarrhea, are caused by low absorption of iron.
Sub Optimal Status
[05:05]
Iron markers at the low range or if a person has sub-optimal iron status means no optimum oxygen delivery throughout the body.
[05:50]
Dr. Hugh doesn't encourage people to take iron supplements immediately after being diagnosed with low range markers. It can lead to being more sub-optimal iron status that could lead to full-blown and anemic condition.
Iron
[07:16]
The iron's role is to work as a magnet for the red blood cell to carry the oxygen throughout the body. However, if a person lacks iron, limited oxygen is delivered to the brain, which can cause brain fog or brain fatigue.
Importance of Ferritin Tests
[10:11]
Dr. Hugh advocates addressing every marker to find a solution and avoid a patient's long-term suffering.

In this episode, we have invited Dr. Hugh Wegwerth DC, a passionate doctor for functional medicine and functional neurology. Today, Dr. Hugh provides information on brain inflammation and different levels of neurological symptoms.
Brain Neuro Inflammation
[01:24]
Dr. Hugh states that trembling, tremors, or balance problems may be neurological symptoms of brain inflammation and are often missed in the conventional system. However, he affirms that having these symptoms are not signs of mental illness but should still be analyzed to start brain rehab.
Subtle Inflammation
[02:44]
He can diagnose neurological symptoms into three categories which are subtle, moderate, and severe.
[02:56]
Subtle brain inflammation may include weird pain symptoms such as pain in the elbow, ankle, and then to the back, or it sometimes can scatter all over the body. The science behind this activity is that the brain does not control receptors for pain. Dr. Hugh includes hazy thoughts, longer processing of information, and slow recall as subtle neuro inflammation signs.
[03:57]
A particular chemical, food, scent, or pollutants can be a trigger to brain inflammation. These changes are crucial in detecting whether a person has inflammation and a blood-brain barrier that needs fixing.
Moderate Inflammation
[05:37]
Dr. Hugh studied different materials and worked on different cases to learn more about brain inflammation. He is certain that depression, inability to concentrate for long periods and fatigue even after a long period of rest are signs of moderate brain inflammation, not fatigue.
Severe Inflammation
[06:42]
With severe neuroinflammation cases, signs of tremors, trembling, and involuntary muscle twitching are observed. Other symptoms are changes in personality and behavior, difficulty speaking, and in other cases, coma. Individuals must address Neuroinflammation immediately as it affects a person’s frontal lobe. With a damaged frontal lobe, a person may have difficulty reasoning and analyzing, affecting motor skills, and may have difficulty dealing with complex problems and analyzing emotions and expressions.
Solutions
[07:46]
Dr. Hugh offers solutions by arranging a visit if a person suspects inflammation of the brain.

In this episode of True Health Recovery, Dr. Hugh Wegwerth will discuss the significance of fish oil in our bodies. He sheds light on the truthful piece of information about the components of our body and how we can maintain its health.
Unexplained Healing Power
[00:27]
Dr. Hugh believes that our body was designed with cells that have amazing healing power. It has a spiritual component and force that help the body heal better.
Major Components
[01:34]
Fish oil is made up of Omega-3 fatty acids called EPA and DHA. These fatty acids are critical components that form the cell membrane and mitochondria in our body.
Understanding the Body and Fish Oil
[05:15]
Our body is composed of 100 trillion cells in every cell membrane. It is composed majorly of healthy fatty acids.
[05:58]
Fish Oil is a combination of EPA and DHA that are essential in maintaining the cell membrane.
[06:26]
Dr. Hugh discusses that if we don't take fish oil, and we have been flocked, damaged, or have chronic digestive issues, our cells aren't flexible and become very crusty and hard. The Omega-3 in the fish oil causes the cells to be fluid and move.
Cell Saturation
[06:56]
Dr. Hugh recommended taking up to 5 tablespoons of fish oil a day to help the cells to be fluid. When the cells are saturated and in a fluid state, toxins are eliminated from our bodies. This oil helps in detoxification because they make the pathways run normally.
Nerve Cell
[08:17]
Dr. Hugh discussed that our nerves are wrapped around the myelin sheath which is made up of fat protein and Omega-3. It’s important to take enough fats in our body to maintain the health of the nerves.
Poly Therapy Approach
[08:53]
Dr. Hugh suggested that we must have an approach to look closely into our bodies. It’s not just about taking fats, but we must understand our body and its problem to handle them well.

In this episode, Dr. Hugh Wegwerth talks about everything we need to know about magnesium, IV magnesium drip, what magnesium does in our body, and the critical protocols we need to consider before taking magnesium into our bodies. If you are suffering from any kind of chronic condition or just want to generally improve your lifestyle, this episode is for you. Stay tuned!
The Importance of Magnesium
[3:17]
Magnesium regulates calcium. It helps relax muscles. It's in energy production and it's required for over 300 energy production reactions.
Energy Reactions in Your Body
[3:36]
If you've been floxed, it damages the mitochondria, fluoroquinolones, DNA, and affects your ability to produce ATP.
[3:44]
If your ability to produce ATP is blocked, you're going to have lots of problems when it comes to recovering, regulating heart tractability, and relaxing smooth muscle.
[4:05]
Your energy production has been severely damaged due to the fluoroquinolones and the DNA has been damaged and inability to produce energy.
Magnesium Deficiency
[4:57]
Magnesium deficiency is having too much calcium to come into the cell. When calcium rushes into your cell, it causes your cell to contract.
[5:12]
Women need to stop taking calcium. Women are over calcified. Calcium is not your problem. It's if you're inflamed, then you're going to have osteoporosis. Balance between magnesium and calcium should occur in your cells.
Symptoms of Magnesium Deficiency
[5:30]
These are all the symptoms of magnesium deficiency: headaches, nervousness, jumpiness, migraines, cramps, muscle pain, heart problems, GI problems, nausea, vomiting, urinary tract cramps, tingling, and numbness.
How Chemistry Works in Your Cells
[6:33]
Every cell in your body has roughly between 502,000 mitochondria, specifically to produce energy. So in each cell, there's literally 2000 of these mitochondria to produce energy.
[6:53]
All this magnesium needs to get in and start producing energy in the mitochondria. And that's where energy is produced.
[7:01]
Magnesium is needed for the cell to start reproducing its own DNA. You can see that the magnesium is very critical when it comes to your body.
Magnesium Glycinate
[8:26]
You want to take anywhere from one to seven scoops per day. The only side effect of taking it is loose stools. Put a scoop in the way then for three or four hours you sip this with the magnesium slowly. Why is it critical? It is because of the nutrients you get from the drinking magnesium glycinate. You can also add some flavoring into the water like lemons or any vitamin C emergency packet.
[9:40]
Then you do the same thing in the afternoon. One scoop, put your flavor in or just just drink it with water and then at night you do the same thing. What's happening here is you're providing your mitochondria with a constant flow of magnesium.

In today’s episode we will be talking about Mitochondria, how it works and function, go in depth on it and know how it affects your brain and how you can get better.
How it works
[1:05]
This drug goes for the DNA of the bacteria. This the new classification of these medications of fluoroquinolones, they work in a whole different mechanism, they actually affect the bacterial DNA.
[2:21]
The DNA of the bacteria is its blue print the new mechanism directly attacks this bacterium and destroys the whole thing.
Mitochondria
[2:37]
Mitochondria is the power house of the cell, it does a lot of intercellular communication.
[5:05]
Within one single cell, one single nerve cell, you have one nucleus with all your human DNA. And then within that one cell you have anywhere between 15 to 2000 mitochondria.
Fluoroquinolones Toxicity
[5:43]
It goes after the DNA and affects DNA replication.
[7:00]
When you take these antibiotics, it completely destroys your mitochondria because it gets in the mitochondria. And then it sees all it sees all this DNA replication. It's not going to produce energy optimally; it's not going to die.
Effect
[7:57]
This is why you go to the doctor and you can have all these weird symptoms, neurological symptoms, Achilles tendon problems, brain fog, brain fatigue, fatigue, depersonalization, all these things can occur to you. Because it actually affects every single cell in your body that has mitochondria and within the mitochondria.

In this episode, we have invited Carrie, who battled his Flox Condition with a healthy lifestyle. Carrie reached out to Dr. Hugh after all the tests given to him by his previous Doctors came out negative from certain issues. He changed his lifestyle, which made him better and healthier than he was ever before. Carrie will share his story on how he battled his condition and how it affected his body and mindset.
From Abdominal Pain to Floxed
[2:04]
Carrie was having some abdominal pain for weeks. He got it checked and was experiencing some pain. His urine sample came back cloudy, and he thought that there was some blood in his urine. The doctor believed that Carrie had a Prostate Issue.
[3:10]
Carrie was prescribed levofloxacin 750 milligrams per day for 10 days. When he took the third dose, he experienced weird symptoms where he felt anxious, and his heart was irregularly beating.
[4:00]
Carrie asked one of the Nurses if he could stop taking the medications. Apparently, Carrie didn't need them because the tests came back negative, so the nurses said he could stop taking the medicines.
Carrie's experience with his medical treatment and condition
[4:50]
Carrie's symptoms were horrible. It was the worst he's ever felt. For Carrie, it was attacking his whole body at once. It included mental and emotional issues and having nervousness for no reason.
[5:19]
Carrie experienced a rapid heartbeat and difficulty breathing. He was put in the COVID protocol because of his breathing problem. It was hard for him to catch his breath, and they scanned his chest to see if he was having a heart attack or anything, but the tests came out negative.
[5:55]
Carrie started to experience tingling in his body like pins and needles. His ankles were sore, and he experienced cranial pressure, fatigue, dizziness, and being disoriented. It was attacking his whole nervous system and just everything on his body.
[6:52]
Carrie couldn't sleep at all. His heart was racing, and he just couldn't relax enough to sleep.
Interfering with his work and lifestyle
[8:59]
Carrie needed to go and reach out. When it first happened in June, he was already experiencing the symptoms. Class was getting ready to start back for the fall, and he just couldn't focus and concentrate for longer than 10 minutes. It was exhausting, and his mind was foggy.
[9:40]
Carrie was really concerned because he couldn't even focus for longer than 10 to 15 minutes. It was exhausting for him, and he had difficulty concentrating on a task.
Reflection
[10:48]
Carrie reflected on the whole process. It had changed his entire lifestyle. He said that he was doing everything wrong and said that everybody should go through consultation and have expert guidance on how to fix their diet and see what's going on with their body.
[12:18]
For less than two months, Carrie changed his diet. He took the supplements h

Tom was involved in an accident at the end of January. A tree branch hit his head inflicting post-concussion syndrome and sinus infection—eventually ruptured his eardrums after four weeks.
He called his family doctor to diagnose his condition and was given a 10-day levofloxacin prescription. He was doing well until he experienced suffering worse than his concussion. He did the responsible thing to go to his family doctor’s office where he was diagnosed as bipolar—he was gaslighted.
Gaslighting is a psychological term where medical professional downplay your symptoms. Tom was not crazy but he was treated as such by the medical personnel. After an arduous defense about his personality for months, he concluded to not talk about any mental health issues with the medical community—he will be regarded as crazy if he does and it will be a glaring mark to his medical history.
Tom went to a doctor from a major university where she was able to alleviate some of his woes. He commended her job but it only went so far. He felt violated talking about her cognitive issues until he was able to find Dr. Hugh—now feeling a lot better.
Consequences[07:38]
Tom decided to have the power of attorney after he was diagnosed as bipolar. He felt defeated and he could not think clear.

Her wife was overtaxed with work and his condition. It was a stressful situation for both of them, emotionally and mentally. Tom ended up creating a poem—while laying in a dark room.
Lifestyle
[09:52]
Tom’s condition affected his business and personal life. As the months went by, Tom channeled a positive outlook where he made the decision to work towards a healthy lifestyle.
[12:42]
Having a huge plot of land, he went to hike and travel to numerous states. With the help of his friends, he became more productive and active daily.
Stability
[17:58]
Tom cancelled his appointment to a psychologist—he was doing better. He refrained from a psychologist because he does not want to be given another drug that would potentially make things worse. He was already happy and recovering with the assistance of a functional medicine doctor like Dr. Hugh.
[20:25]
With things moving at the right direction, Tom needs more time and he would be better than before the incident.
Spreading the Word
[23:49]
Tom advices to keep things going. Keep trying and don’t stop. Even though it was an uphill battle, Tom was glad that he did not stop. Set your goal and fulfill it!
