Charles just wrapped a week long consult with a larger IT provider that described themselves as, "Directionless, and without sales." Listen in to find out what the challenges really ended up being, and how he guided the client to begin changing. One of my favorite quotes from the session recordings was, "I'm not going to give you a 3 month goal because you've not shown the ability to hit a one week goal. We're going to work together on harnesses your amazing abilities to turn your team around, and this is how we're going to start, sir."
Side note - Charles is unaware this client has already recommended us to a peer, that is now on his/Charles's schedule a month from now.
Stay safe,
Jason
Special holiday update from Charles, was not even scheduled. In this episode, Charles addresses the number one reason msp's and other tech related businesses aren't selling more services, and/or products. Listen in and learn!
Hey! Charles here. Jason is on a well deserved break this week, so I'm uploading the episode. Had a great call with a contact who needed a kick in the a**. I gave him one, and made it very clear that painting yourself one way on ig and twitter goes out the window when people realize you don't do what you say you will. Hope you enjoy it. Cls
In today's podcast, Charles discusses his call this past weekend where he challenged an MSP owner who claimed to be fairly disciplined. Charles reveals the first of two methods he uses to help MSP's implement discipline, and why it MUST start with the owner/mgmt team.
While this was technically a mailbag or dm I sent Charles to answer, he turned it into not only a response, but one of his longer talks on why, at times, you should stop reading framework books, and focus on on your actual business. If you've read Traction, The Rockefeller Habits, Start With Why, this is a good listen and should provoke some thought.
Charles had a call with a listener this past week who wanted to know more about how the recent million dollar msp client made their way. Take a listen to find out how the listener reacted when Charles said, "Sounds like you suck at closing."
We received a great mailbag question via reddit this past weekend about an MSP having what they believe to be a great offering at a great price, however they're not closing prospects. Charles recorded a response earlier, sent it to me, and I think you'll love the 3 things he suggests on how to fix this all too common issue.
We received a number of great mailbag/dm's this week, all of which I forwarded to Charles. Today, he answered, "What's the most valuable thing you've ever done for an MSP?" Here's a hint - your msp may not be as awesome as you think it is!
Charles discusses MSP's spending too much money on tools, and people. This is an extremely common occurrence, which can have extremely detrimental effects on your business.
Charles discusses how he uses research, and reconnaissance, to better understand the competition.
I got word last night that one of our LS clients just broke 1 mill per year in revenue. I slacked Charles about it, and we had a quick call with the msp this morning to get some info from him on just how he did it. Spend 5 mins to learn from his rapid ascent to 1 mill and beyond!
Charles discusses a letter he received from a current consulting client this past weekend, and how her words remind us that at the end of the day, we are responsible for change and growth at our businesses. The tools aren't books, speakers, or consultants, but rather discipline, fortitude, and focus.
Charles addresses a question sent to me: "Due to COVID, my clients keep asking me for more and more work that I don't feel I should be doing. Do I bill them for it, tell them I'm not going to do it, or find another way to upset them?"
Charles performs a quick "Pick up" PC about how we just booked a meeting with a prospect we've been chasing for almost 7 years. Listen to find out why sales and marketing, just like running an msp, requires fortitude, focus, and discipline. Once your marketing and sales efforts are aligned, you'll be poised to hit what we call, "Compound Growth," which we'll be talking about for a few weeks.
