In the ongoing struggle to be understood in a world that is built for extroverts, many introverts choose to become “textroverted.” What is textroversion? It’s appearing extroverted (excited, happy, upbeat, peppy) in written communications like emails, texts, and DMs. The sisters discuss whether they are textroverted, and provide tips for how to weave textroversion into your communication style. Plus, in their “Introverts Unite Separately” segment, Sharon and Lisa chat about the second summer of Covid, whether they should both do a doctorate, and how to cope with the return to office.

Interviews can be rough, especially for candidates of color. But they are a necessary part of the job search process. What a lot of candidates forget is that interviews are a two-way street: while the company is assessing you, you should also be evaluating them. That can be easier said than done, however. How exactly can candidates assess a potential company? Join Sharon and Lisa as they provide clarity around what red flags global majority job seekers should look out for, and what specific questions to ask when interviewing.

As the world begins to open up more fully, many companies are tightening the screws and insisting that employees return to work. There are a few that are letting their employees choose, some that have embraced the WFH forever model (Twitter, Slack) but it seems that most (e.g. Goldman Sachs, Amazon, Apple) have decided that office is best. Here, Sharon and Lisa, the Introvert Sisters, discuss why they feel companies should not force introverts. Black women, or anybody that doesn’t want to, to go back into the office.

The censorship and de-platforming of Black voices is unfortunately nothing new. As remote working has become more of the norm, more and more people have chosen to relocate to a country in which they have always dreamed of living. (Barbados, anyone?) These new expats not only have to adjust to their new home, but also find ways to fit in and not feel like outsiders. This tends to be easy for extroverts, but for introverts, not so much. In their latest Off-Topic episode, Sharon and Lisa share their experiences as lifelong expats, and strategies for how introverts can have an easier, more enjoyable expat journey.

“Why are you so quiet?” “Are you upset?” “You need to come out of your shell.” “You should speak up more.” Every introvert has heard phrases like these over and over, and to be honest, it gets irritating. It can be difficult moving through life knowing that just by dint of how you exist, people consider you to be deficient, and that you need to be “fixed.” In this episode, the sisters turn the tables. They flip these questions and statements that extroverts direct towards introverts, in the hope that some behavioral mirroring will show extroverts just how messed up, judgmental, unhelpful, and unnecessary these kinds of words can be.

The sisters are back with the continuation of their reaction to their favorite guilty-pleasure series, Indian Matchmaking. Right on cue, as soon as “The Interview” had aired, some of the racists that walk among us (we’re looking at you, Piers Morgan) showed their entire underpinnings. Of course, once they were challenged, they proceeded to exhibit peak caucasity and flood the world in white tears. In this 3rd and final episode in our Meghan and Harry series, we examine white privilege, white fragility, racism, and why Black people are tired of dealing with all of it. Join us as we wrap up our conversation stemming from the interview of the year.

There was so much to unpack from “The Interview” to end all interviews that we had to do a part 2. In this episode, we take a deep dive into Meghan’s mental health revelations, Harry’s unwavering support for his spouse, and how (randomly?) Tyler Perry ended up saving the day. Why does this matter so much? Because so many people – and so many women of color – see Meghan’s experiences reflected in their everyday lives. Because Meghan has reignited a much-needed conversation about mental health in general, and more specifically about how racism, bullying, and misogynoir all have serious adverse mental health effects. Join us as we continue the conversation.
Trigger warning: suicidal ideation, depression, bulimia, and rape are mentioned.

Trigger warning: suicidal ideation and depression are mentioned.
Yes y'all, we are still talking about this interview. And so is the rest of the world. Why? Because so much tea was spilled! Like many other BIPOC, especially Black women, we felt triggered. If you take the titles out of the picture, Meghan was relatable, but for the saddest of reasons. The racism, misogynoir, and bullying that she endured echo what so many of us experience daily. And the mental health effects that result from that are disturbingly relatable too. Join us as we unpack “The Interview” to end all interviews.

Love is in the air! Valentine’s Day is a few days away and the global marketing machine is in full swing. Retailers and advertisers are spending billions trying to convince people that all they need for an epic romance are some flowers, chocolates, and diamonds. And all that is nice, but...then there’s reality. And reality in this case takes the form of the semi-controversial Netflix series Indian Matchmaking. 2021 is barely a few days old, and it’s already setting up to be “2020, The Sequel: More Virus, Less Logic.” And so, we’re starting Season 3 with an Off-Topic episode to discuss Skylar Mack, one of the anti-masking quarantine breakers who ran afoul of the Cayman Islands authorities over the holiday season. In true COVID Karen style, Ms. Mack broke a 14-day quarantine period a mere 2 days into it. However, unlike many tourists who have acted similarly, she was made to pay the price. The sisters discuss the case, the protocols, the consequences of breaking quarantine, and why we all need to continue to wear our masks.

Thanksgiving is almost upon us. And even in these Covid times, people will be hosting gatherings and parties, albeit on a smaller scale than usual. The U.S. election is done—but far from over. In an alarming repeat of the 2016 election, Biden won the popular vote (as Hillary had), but as we all now know, it’s the electoral college votes that count towards actually securing the presidency. The race is distressingly close. Candidates need 270 electoral votes in order to win. As of this writing, Biden has 253, while the orange one has 213. In this TIS Off-Topic episode, the sisters discuss the still-pending election result, how we got here again, and exactly how racist is America, really?

Tune in as Sharon and Lisa discuss effective home workouts that can help you get your weight back on track.
Plus: Another aspect of life that 2020 has changed is hair care. Neither of the sisters is ready to go back to “normal” activities like getting their hair done. Even if their stylist is wearing a mask, they prefer not to be in such close proximity to anyone unless absolutely necessary. So: they both did their hair themselves for the first time ever. One thing the sisters have been missing since Corona started is travel. Though they’re not quite ready to hit the skies yet, they’ve already started thinking about where they should go. They plan to consult the ABC Travel Green Book, written specifically for travelers of color, to help them plan their next big trip. The new Green Book is written by Martinique Lewis, and is based on the original Negro Motorist Green Book Compendium created by Victor Hugo Green during the Jim Crow era. Also on deck: 2020 continues to be an interesting year (to say the least). Sharon and Lisa talk about Barbados becoming a republic, and why, in the wake of the murder of George Floyd, the word ‘racism’ has been re-defined.

Babyface (or as he is now called, Shadyface - Google it) and Teddy Riley did a Verzuz battle on Instagram, and it ended up being an epic fail. At least part one of it did.
