We are one body, but we are also the church. Jesus started building His church up this rock, whom he had named Peter. Through one person, Jesus began his ministry of BIG C church. Pastor Kelly shows us what being the church means, what it means to go to church, and doing church. Here’s the next “we are” statement, which makes up our whole identity.
We know from past weeks who God says He is, and Jesus’s I am statements when He was down here on earth with us. And we dove into who we were as an individual, and what God says we are. Names are one important way of identifying someone. Our names can bring honor, tell stories of legacy, our family history, and even our past. We take a look with Pastor Kelly, where Jesus gives Simon a new name in Peter. God is a star making God, that despite how finite we are, He see’s us as important. Three things we learn from understanding this, it builds confidence, strengthens faith, and fills us with joy. Pastor Kelly will show us the importance of God’s Word, and what we get from the Bible. While talking about the importance of the sun in Psalm 19, King David writes about the purposeful and importance of God’s Word to light, just like the heat of the sun is important for life.
This week Pastor Kelly dives into the peace that Jesus gives. Another quality that we see shone from light, that we identify with during the Christmas holidays. He was known as the “Prince of Peace,” which brought a peace with, of, and because of God to all mind kind. That same peace was passed on to us, as peacemakers we carry that specific identity on what they would look like.
We are wrapping up this entire Immovable series, and introducing us to the holidays and end of year. Pastor Jerrod will remind us how God’s promises had always brought good things for us. God’s covenants with us were those very promises, and He continues to remind us of those promises with symbols such as the rainbow after a storm. The reminder that He will never bring a flood upon the earth again. We are reminded by Pastor Jerrod what Romans 8:28 says, that God works all things for good according to His purposes.
We are continuing to learn about God's promises and covenants with His people. God has never forgotten His promises. Pastor Kelly will continue to touch on Abrahams covenant with God, and how that led God to making a second covenant with Moses, further solidifying His covenant with Abraham 500 years later. A covenant that continues to transcend time and generations. Pastor Kelly will also show us, how God's promises will fill us if we are willing to open wide.
We’ll explore the various covenant elements that God performs with Abram, in order to convince him and even us of His commitment. We also see that God reminds Abram that God will be his shield, and not just him but the generations that all follow after Abram. Part of this promise, was another element, the exchanging of names. Where Abram and Sarai are given God’s name, and God’s name which was known as just God, to be known as the God of Abraham from then on.
In Genesis, we see God establish a covenant that would transcend generations. Abram, who we later know as Abraham, was whom God saw and established His covenant with. A covenant that we continue to see God’s promises fulfill to this day! It was this one man’s faithfulness that cemented His promises to all the earth and all the people. With that, God’s plan of redemption could be realized and put to work. Pastor Kelly explore’s Abram’s faithfulness, which established God’s promises that continue to be fulfilled to this day.
AJ Mora, reminds us of God’s promises even when things are difficult. Even in the midst of tragedy, God remembers all of His promises given to us. During those times, He reminds us that everything is going to be all right. AJ will take us down the countless testimonies of where God promised that everything was all right, how His hands are still working in the situations, in our lives, as well as the lives around us.
One of the first times we see the term covenant spoken in the bible, we find a man that the Lord finds favor in and his name was Noah. This week, Pastor Kelly dives into the deep end of the flood water. Because of Noah’s faithfulness, God promised not to destroy all life with floodwaters. We’ll go deeper into the first covenant, and his promise that stood for the future of all of humanity.
To gain insight into Biblical events and rituals that can seem obscure, Pastor Kelly explores the practices and parts of establishing a covenant. For generations, cultures have formed covenants to ensure that promises and commitments where secure. In this message he shares the 4 parts of forming a covenant, and specifically the 9 elements of a covenant ceremony. A knowledge of these practices give deeper understanding into the cost and commitment God has made through His covenants with humanity.
For centuries, God established covenants with individuals for the sake of many. We take a look at the 4 major covenants made with people, the Noahic Covenant, the Abrahamic Covenant, the Mosaic Covenant, and the Davidic Covenant. These covenants display God’s numerous times of creating relationship throughout the Old Testament, and lead into His “new covenant” in Jesus Christ, and with us today.
Whether it’s finances, health, politics, or social decay - we seem to face a new cultural crisis every week. We need to know that we have a God who formed “Covenants” with us that are unshakable and immovable. These covenants have unbreakable promises that we can stand on when the chaos of life starts to overwhelm us.
Our road trip has come to an end. We'll flip the pages on our snapshot photo album, viewing all of the landmarks we saw on what God say's about having joy. Let's recap the points to unlocking that joy, the mind-set for it, and how to combat worry that may try to rob you of that joy. These snapshots will help you to continue to refuel your joy tank, as you continue on your adventurous life journey.
Generosity is more that just a nice idea. God designed humans to feel truly fulfilled when we generously give. Throughout the Bible, God teaches that there are many rewards for those who give generously. The ultimate reward for being a generous and consistent giver is JOY. In addition, God promises that the more you give, then the more you will receive. Jesus says in Luke 6:38 “Give, and you will receive…. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.” In this session, Pastor Kelly explores the rewards that come to those who give.
Right in the middle of Philippians Ch. 4 the Apostle Paul switches from pastor mode to coach mode. Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, Paul gives a statement that is power packed like a vitamin for the soul. He reminds follower of Jesus Christ that: God will give you strength if you exercise your faith, and never give up. In this session, Pastor Kelly give the 3 ways to build a “Can Do” faith based on Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
In this session, Pastor Kelly covers the first half of Chapter 4. The Apostle Paul commands followers of Christ to “rejoice and again rejoice.” Pastor Kelly identifies the four ways to combat worry. Worry is a thief that wants to rip off and steal JOY. But there is good news…God gives us the strategy to defeat WORRY in verses 6-9. It’s a roadmap to navigate thru the desert of worry. The four ways to exchange worry for JOY is: PRAY - TELL - THANK - THINK.
In the second half of Philippians 3, the Apostle Paul inspires the church to continue their JOY/FULL pursuit of being like Jesus. We as Christ followers, are meant to be like Christ. We’ll not take hold of spiritual perfection until heaven, but we should never stop going after it on earth. We‘ll never be sinless, but we can sin less and less and be more and more like Jesus. Paul reminds us that a life in full pursuit of Christlikeness is the most JOY/FULL life you can live.
As we continue in our series JOY/FULL, Pastor Jerrod covers the first half of Philippians Chapter 3. In these verses, the Apostle Paul repeats the important theme that we are to REJOICE in Jesus. There is no greater treasure or source of JOY, than having God with us and for us. Being in a personal relationship with the Creator of the universe, is the best gift of all. The JOY/FULL gift of having Jesus in your life is available to you and to all those who believe.
In this session, Pastor Jerrod covers the second half of Philippians Chapter 2. The Apostle Paul reminds us that the most JOY/FULL life, is the one ‘lived out’ with God and His purposes in mind. We experience the greatest JOY when we live for the good of others and the glory of God. Listen and learn how to joyfully “Shine like stars” (Philippians 2:15) in a world that needs the light of hope.
In this session, Pastor Jerrod covers the first half of Philippians Chapter 2. In these verses the apostle Paul reminds the church of the JOYFUL reality that God is continuously filling our lives with His goodness. Now, from the abundance of good that God pours into us, we can find great JOY in pouring into others. The key to JOY in this section is to have the same sacrificial and loving attitude towards others as Jesus has towards you.
In this session, Pastor Kelly covers the second half of Philippians Chapter 1. In it, he identifies the three types of “Mind-Set” that allow God to fill us with His JOY, even in the midst of difficult circumstances. We discover that when the Apostle Paul said, “For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain” (Philippians 1:21), he was able to have unshakable JOY because he was FOCUSED - PURPOSEFUL - INTENTIONAL. These three types of “Mind-Set” are also how we can know JOY in our daily lives.
In this session, Pastor Kelly covers the first half of Philippians Chapter 1. He shows through the life of the Apostle Paul that perspective is key to experiencing JOY. Paul views every circumstance and situation through the lens of advancing God’s Kingdom. He says in Philippians 1:12, “I want you to know…that everything that has happened to me here has helped to spread the Good News.” We learn the importance of having a proper “Mind-Set” affects the amount of JOY that we experience. We are also reminded how vital it is to “fix our thoughts” on the things of Christ.

In this special summer series, Pastors Kelly Fellows & Jerrod Wagner explore the need, importance and availability of JOY. The series of teachings takes you on a journey through the New Testament book of Philippians (AKA “The Book of Joy”). This session, Pastor Kelly give us the backstory of Philippians and it’s significance and relevance for today.

In this session REFINERY has a special guest speaker, Rachel Fellows. She shares insight on what the Bible says about details mattering to God. in Luke 12:6-7 we learn that no detail about us is too small or too insignificant to ca2pture His notice. Because God cares about the details of our lives, He wants us to come to Him with our all our concerns and ask for His help. “Don’t worry about anything but PRAY about everything” Philippians 4:6
In one of Jesus’ parables he describe the priorities in God’s Kingdom by illustrating the importance of proactively inviting people to come to God’s Table. He challenges and reminds us that ALL are welcome to be a part of His Kingdom described as a great feast.
Jesus uses the occasion of a dinner at the home of a pious religious leader, called a Pharisee, to illustrate the love, compassion and inclusiveness of God. He encourages us to prioritize inviting EVERYONE to come into a relationship with God through the parable of a great feast and the invitations extended to various groups of people. In the message we learn the practical ways to invite people to “partake in the meal” God has prepared called eternal life. There are 3 ways we can participate:
- TAKE: Proactively take opportunities to share your testimony
- LOOK: Look for needs that arise, be “Jesus” to people.
- INVITE: Invite and meet people here for services at REFINERY
Light is an amazing and essential component of life on earth. It was the “thing”, on earth, created by God. The benefits and qualities that we experience with physical light are the same things that we experience spiritually when we follow Jesus and make Him our Lord.
In the beginning of time, God created the heavens and earth and said “let there be light.” Later in the New Testament, Jesus declared Himself as “The Light of The World” - John 8:12. Light has amazing characteristics and qualities. Those same qualities of light can be seen in “the light of the world” (Jesus). The similarities are seen in the following: 1-“Light Reveals Truth”. 2-”Light Exposes Dirt”. 3-”Light Shows the Way”. At Christmas time we proclaim that the light is here. It is the reality and realization of Jesus Christ and the Hope He brings to a dark world.
Life happens in seasons. There is a reason for each season and a purpose in the process. During each season we experience times of “waiting” that can test our patience, persistence and faith. But it’s during these times of “waiting” that God does the most work on growing us into the person He has created and called us to be.
As we go through life seasons, we are challenged when it appears that nothing is happening. We work hard and see little results for our efforts. We experience dry times in a relationship. We wonder if there is more to the “dead-end” job that we are doing. These are the “waiting” times in each season. They are difficult and test our faith. But we discover in the Bible that we can do 3 things during the “waiting” that will help us thrive forward. Those things are REFLECT, REMIND, and REJOICE. Active waiting will result in stronger faith and more joy-filled seasons. “But those who WAIT on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31)
How do I pray? This is a question that has been asked in each generation. Also, is it possible to see real results when I pray? The answer is yes. The Bible give clear instruction on how to pray in a way that sees powerful results. Daniel’s example give us practical keys to prayer that we can use during times of chaos and crisis.
Daniel’s life was marked by an unshaken faith in the face of chaos and crisis. On many occasions, he is threatened with loss of job, reputation and life if he did not compromise his convictions. He demonstrates the principles and practice that sustained him and brought peace and deliverance into every situation. That practice is daily prayer. We discover in Chapter 9 that Daniel had 5 Key-Prayer-Points that he used when facing overwhelming challenges. Those points are: LISTENING-FOCUSING-BEING REAL-BEING THANKFUL-CONFESSING.
How can we practically experience promotion even during turbulent and chaotic times? Daniel shows us by his example that there are practical and spiritual factors that affect our promotion and advancement in life. When we faithfully and courageously hold to these Biblical principles, we will see God do miracles in our relationships and life endeavors.
In the OT Book of Daniel chapter 6 we catch up with Daniel in his older and wiser years. But the pressure is still on to compromise He demonstraes practical and spiritual principles that result in supernatural miracles. In this teaching we see three ways that he was a “stand-out” and three ways he maintained faith-filled courage in the face of ridicule and persecutio
Is it possible to have the faith needed stand up for righteousness? It is when we remember that there are benefits and rewards to those who remain unshaken in their faith. Each day our convictions, integrity and faith are tested. But, when we pass those test by standing up for God’s Ways, we experinece blessings, deliverance and miracles.
Tests can help us to grow if we look for the benefits that come from pressing through and pressing on in faith. We learn from the OT Book of Daniel how to face challenges and take a stand for righteousness. In Chapter 6, we see that Daniel experienced 4-benfits from not compromising his values and beliefs, even in the face of of a life-and-death situation. The benefits we can experiences when we take a stand for God are: VICTORY OVER FEAR - STRONGER FAITH - MIRACLES - POSTIVE EXAMPLE TO OTHERS.
What do you do when you are in a crisis? Are you able to see beyond the pain to the big picture? Are you able to look to God for answers? When we go through crisis/pressure, God can work in and through these painful situation to deliver us, grow us and strengthen our faith. We only have to strive to have unshakable faith to get us through fire and “Beat The Heat.”
The OT Book of Daniel chapter 3 shows us how to face times of crisis. Three of Daniel’s friends (Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego) were thrown into a blazing furnace because they would not compromise their values and beliefs. But through their crisis, we see God miraculously deliver them and show us how we can trust Him do the same for us. We can “Beat The Heat” of a life crisis by remembering these 4 faith facts: GOD WILL WALK WITH ME - GOD WILL BURN OFF WHAT TIES ME DOWN - GOD WILL MAKE SURE I AM UNHARMED - IT WILL BRING UNBELIEVERS TO GOD.
Have you ever felt the pressure of a deadline, the pressure of expectation at work, at home, or the pressure of peers? Pressure is real but doesn’t have to cause us to be shaken. When the “heat is on” we can look to God’s Word to see how to face life’s pressures. There are practical ways found in Daniel chapter 3 that gives us confidence to stand up to pressure and remain unshaken.

Three of Daniel’s friends (Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego) were pressured by the leaders of their society to compromise their values, convictions and faith. We see that the same things that happened then are happening today in our culture. But their examples show us how we can withstand the pressure and experience God’s miraculous provision and protections. In this message, Pastor Kelly shows how we can face life’s pressures when the “heat is on”.
What do you do when somebody in authority asks you to violate your conscience, do something you know is wrong, do something you know would be disobedient to what God says to do? You need to know how to make an appeal. You need to know how to make your case by “responding not reacting.”
Proverb 22:29, “If you do your job well, leaders will notice and you will serve before kings.” In this podcast, Pastor Kelly explores the way Daniel responded to his authority when challenged to compromise his values and beliefs. He gives five practical ways that we can respond to the authorities in our own lives such as the teach, boss, or supervisor. Those five ways are: 1. Pause & Pray, 2. Build a Good =Reputation, 3. Take the Humble Route, 4. Don’t Decieve, 5. Choose Time-Place-Words.
It has been said that when the “pressure” is on, whatever is on the inside will come out. It’s true. Pressure tests our character and integrity. In the same way that fire tests the integrity of metals, our character is tested daily. But when we pass the test, we are strengthen like metal that has been put through the forge.
In this podcast, Pastor Kelly shows how God can work through life’s pressures to strengthen us and prepare us for increased blessings, promotions, and opportunities. It’s says in Proverbs 17:3; “Fire tests the purity of silver and gold, but the Lord tests the heart.” God tests 3 area of our heart to determine if we are ready for the outflow of blessing. Those areas are: Integrity, Discipline and Courage. In the end we find out that “Testing leads to blessing.”
Every day, we face a storm of challenges personally and as culture. But God is not unaware. He can and will work through the shaking to develop us into the person He has created us to be. It is a cliché but it is true: there is no gain without pain. There is no maturity without growing pains. And the very thing that discourages us is the very thing that God is using to develop us.
In this podcast, Pastor Kelly show that there are 4 sources of “shaking” that influence our lives. Through all of it God can work for our good if we respond with faith and trust. God’s desire for us is that we are not just surfing in life, but actually thriving. He will use the shaking times to correct us, direct us and perfect us, if we let Him. Romans 8:28 says, “we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”
Every day, we face a storm of challenges personally and as culture. It seems the values that create a healthy society have been turned upside down & inside out. Marriages, families and moral values are being “shaken”. But God gives us a way to live that promises a life above the chaos. No matter how bad things get in a rapidly changing world and even in a decaying culture..., He says, “I want you thrive.”
In this podcast, Pastor Kelly begins a series of messages that will give people tools they need to thrive even during times of uncertainty, insecurity, and unrest. The series examines the life of Daniel, from the Old Testament, who lived during a time when it was not popular to worship the One True God. He faced pressure, mistreatment and rejection, yet he experienced significant success even in the midst of turmoil. He demonstrated how to live with peace and confidence even when surrounded by chaos.
God wants to bless you so that you can be a blessing. God wants to work in and through each person. He causes us to be Fruitful so that we can share that fruit with others. The same hope, peace and salvation that we find in Christ, is what’s needed by our friends, neighbors and community. They need Jesus and Jesus needs you.
In this podcast, Pastor Kelly examines the story of true friends found in Luke chapter 5. A few people brought their hurting friend to Jesus. When he met Jesus he was forgiven and healed. The man’s physical need AND eternal life were transformed that day because of some friends who were willing to share their time, reputation and efforts to bring him to Jesus. We are challenged to go and do the same - take courage and bring our friends to Jesus.
God made us to “BE FRUITFUL” and He wants us to use the FRUIT we receive from Him in same way as FRUIT from trees. Our “FRUIT” is intended as spiritual food for others. For the nourishment of their very souls. It’s not meant to be left on the branches of our lives. Instead it suppose to be shared with others.
In this message, Pastor Kelly talks about the importance of sharing the fruit that God produces in our lives. There are millions of spiritually starving people all around. They’re hungry for more that the “junk food” that the world has to offer – full of empty calories – they want something real and organic. When people get to taste and see what God has done in your life then they will want some too. Psalm 34:8 “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the person who trusts in Him!” (NKJV)
God made us to live a productive life. He told us to “BE FRUITFUL.” Jesus illustrates this principle with a picture of a grape vine. He is the vine and we are the branches. When we ABIDE in Him we will produce much fruit.
If we ABIDE (remain) in Jesus Christ we will live a productive, significant and fruitful life. But what does it mean to ABIDE? Abiding is more about being than doing. Abiding is more about an intimate relationship than a friendly acquaintance. Abiding is more about faithful dedication than causal convenience. To ABIDE means to make Jesus Christ our home, the center of our life.
God made us to “BE FRUITFUL.” He wants our lives to be productive and significant. Jesus Christ emphasizes this through his teaching commonly referred to as “The Vine and the Branches” found in the Gospel of John Chapter 15. At times there is no fruit. But, Jesus give us encouragement on how to get into a positon to bear “much fruit.”
In this brief message, Pastor Kelly speak on an often misunderstood passage of scripture that reveals that God is not looking for a way to “cut you off” or “cut you out” if your life is seemly fruit-less. Instead we discover that God is looking for a way to clean and lift up each “branch” so that it can produce tons of fruit. This illustration helps us understand God’s heart and the way we can get “clean.” God’s desire is that we would experience His abundant life and be free from the “dirt” and “mud” that sometimes coats our hearts.

Jesus illustrates what it means to “be fruitful” with the picture of a grape vine. He concludes that He is the vine, we are the branches (drawing life and nourishment) and if we abide (remain) in Him we will produce much fruit. But apart from Him we can do NOTHING (Or what we do will amount to NOTHING). A productive, significant and fruitful life is found in Jesus Christ.
Since the beginning of time, humanity has been created to be extraordinary. God never intended for us to simply exist. God made us to live a productive life and “BE FRUITFUL.”
The account of our beginning is found in Genesis 1. God’s command and instruction to mankind was to “be fruitful and multiply.” Throughout the Bible, the metaphor of fruitfulness is directed to the person who lives a righteous life. Jesus Christ Himself relates fruit and trees to those that call him Lord and savior. "The tree is know by it's fruit." (Mt 12:33 & Luke 6:43) Jesus made it possible for us to return to God’s originalintent to “BE FRUITFUL.”
The human heart is like soil. God gives his Word, like seed, to produce life. A hard & rocky heart will hinder the affects of His Word. But there are ways to soften a hardened heart.
In our continued exploration of Jesus’ parable found in Mark Chapter 4, we discover that there are different types of soil that affect root development and growth. HIs Word is like seed and the human heart is the soil by which it is planted. There are elements that harden a heart such as an Unthankful & Critical Attitude, Unforgivenss, Bitterness, and Jealousy. These things are like concrete in our hearts. Troubles of life are like rocks hindering root growth. God offers a way to softed a hard & rocky heart Isaiah 44:3 “For I will pour out water to quench your thirst and to irrigate your parched fields. And I will pour out my Spirit on your descendants, and my blessing on your children.” The Holy Spirit softens a hard heart like water on hardpack
God’s Word is like seed planted in the heart of mankind. Fertile soil has the best conditions for fruitfulness. There are 3 ways to foster a fertile heart that results in seeing God’s promises come to pass in our lives: Tilling, Fertilizing, and Watering.
In this final look at one of Jesus’ parable found in Mark Chapter 4, “The Sower”, we see that fertile soil yields crops of harvest 30, 60 even 100 times what is planted. Like fertile soil, a heart that is receptive to God’s Word will produce a harvest of blessings. There are 3 ways to foster a fertile heart;
- Till The Soil (Pride vs. Humility) Proverbs 3:34
- Fertilize The Soil (Trials, Tests) James 1:2-4
- Water The Soil (Meditating on God’s Word) Joshua 1:8
Good soil will produce good fruit. It can result in 100% of God’s Word to coming to pass in our lives. Our responsibility is to work the soil of the heart to be fertile and receptive.
God’s Word is like seed planted in the heart of mankind. Soil full of weeds and thorns will choke out and hinder fruitfulness. The thorns of the heart are worry, fear, and doubt. But there are ways to combat the thorns for a fruitful life.
In the ongoing study of Jesus’ parable found in Mark Chapter 4, we find that the four types of soil He mentions, yield differing crops and harvests. The thorny soil represents worries of life and the distractions of wealth that interfere with the fruitfulness of God’s Word and choke out our growing faith. His desire is that would be be people of faith, which means completely trusting Him to intervene in life’s problems and provision. When we demonstrate an authentic faith, then we will experience the fruitful, abundant life that Jesus promises.
There are forces at work, on a daily bases, trying to keep people for experiencing the “fruitful” lives that God promises in His Word - The Bible. When we get ahold of God’s Word, we need to hold on to it so it can take root, grow and thrive in our lives.
In our continued exploration of Jesus’ parable found in Mark Chapter 4, we discover that there is an adversary that is at work on a daily bases, striving to keep God’s Word from taking root in our heart and producing the fruit of joy, peace, etc. Jesus identifies this adversary and illustrates him as a bird who swoops down to steal seed before it can be established in soil. This teaching gives light to the importance of mediating on the Bible daily so that a person can be exactly who God says he/she can be.
“You will grow what you sow.” The parable Jesus teaches of the farmer who plants (sows) seed is a lesson that is relevant for our lives today. The seed represents God’s Word. If planted in our hearts, daily, will reap a harvest of life.
In the Gospel of Mark, chapter 4, Jesus teaches his followers a parable about a farmer who plants (sows) seed and then illustrates the varies degrees of harvest. This parable is used to illustrate the importance of “planting/sowing” God’s Word into our heart on a daily basis. The potential for peace, joy, fulfillment and success in our life, relationships and careers is all found in “the seed” - God’s Word (The Bible). It’s more that a good book or history book or moral book; it is truth and life to those who will take it and apply it to their lives. Prov 4:22 “…for they (God’s Words) are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body.”
Healthy roots lead to abundant fruit. This is true in pomology (study of fruit trees) and anthropology (study of human life). God created us to live a life that is “fruitful” like a tree. Our “roots” dictate the level of fruitfulness in our lives.
Through out the Bible, God uses the tree as an example of a life that is productive, growing and fruitful. In the same way, God has created each person to be productive, growing and fruitful like a healthy tree. Specifically, God is calling REFINERY Church to be like a Hass Avacado tree. In this introductory message, Pastor Kelly begins a series called “ROOTED: A foundation for a better you.” He illustrates that just like a productive, fruitful tree needs healthy roots, people need to strengthen their “roots” to become the person God has created and called them to be. “Blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water.Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought.Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit. (Jeremiah 17:7-8 NLT)
Once we are filled with HOPE, we have the responsibility to share or BE HOPE for our friends, family and community.
Part 3 of Hope is Here speaks to the last question: We know where we get HOPE – We know how to stay HOPE-FILLED… what do we do with this HOPE that we have? The apostle Paul l says in Romans 15:13 “May the God of HOPE fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with HOPE by the power of the Holy Spirit.” He says that there will be an abundance. And out of that abundance, we can be a source of HOPE for others. The apostle Peter goes on to challenge us to be ready to give an answer for the HOPE that we have as believers (1 Peter3:15). In this message we hear the practical ways to BE HOPE to our friends, family and community.
Once we are filled with hope, how do we stay hope filled? The examples of the shepherds in Luke 2 teach us how to stay hopefilled: 1. Lift our heads 2. Adjust our vision 3. Open our mouths
Life’s pressures, demands and disappointments seem to suck HOPE away like a candle with no oxygen. The flame of our life can seem to fade as quick as it ignited. So the question becomes, how can we stay hope-filled and keep the flame of our life burning bright. We see in the story of the shepherds found in Luke Chapter 2 that they demonstrate how to stay hope-filled even when the darkness presses in. They Lifted their heads, then readjusted their vision, then concluded by *opening their mouths by sharing the testimony of God’s miraclous works. We can learn by their examples how to stay hopeful on a daily basis.
Jesus Christ came to earth to bring hope to humanity. We can be filled with HOPE knowing that we are not alone HOPE IS HERE BECAUSE GOD IS NEAR
When Hope is deferred or held back, the heart is made sick (Proverbs 13:12). Today that sickness is felt in discouragement, disappointment and depression. But there is Hope found in the person of Jesus Christ. That is why we celebrate during this Christmas season. Hope that is felt in the very presence of God in our lives. Hope cures the sickness felt by humanity. In Romans 15:13 Paul prays a blessing on His followers “May the God of HOPE fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with HOPE by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
The greatest commands in the Bible are to “Love God and Love People.” This can be demonstrated by Honoring God and Honoring People. Honoring “others” is simple but not easy.
In Romans 12:9-10 we are told: “Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other.” Those “others” are; Family, Peers, Friends, Coworkers, and those; In our care, Who serve, Less Fortunate,Broken/Hurting. Honoring those in authority is a Biblical command with blessing attached. When we honor those in authority, we honor God and we invite his power into our lives
It may not be a popular principle, but honoring those in authority is a Biblical command. Jesus and His word, endorse and command that we honor those in authority. He sees it as a demonstration of faith. He gives us an understanding of this in Matthew Chapter 8 when he has a miraculous interaction with a Roman soldier who acknowledges and honors Jesus’ authority. The results are supernatural. When we submit to God’s principles of honoring those who are over us, we too will experience God’s blessings in our lives.
Jesus teaches us when it comes to honoring God he isn’t so concerned with the actions we take but rather the heart behind the actions.
In Matthew 15 we take a look at an interesting interaction between Jesus and Religious leaders of the day. While they were concerned with the traditions of Man and the appearance of honoring God, Jesus points out that their hearts are actually far from God. Jesus is exposing the lies they’ve believed for generations, and shows them that he is the truth.
Who should receive honor? 3 groups of people are indentified in scriptures. But above all, God deserve all our honor and praise.
In Romans 13:7 we are told to give honor to whom honor is due. So the question is WHO and HOW do we honor? The Bible lists various people and ways to honor that can be assembled together in 3 groupings. But above all else, God deserves all of honor. And when we honor Him, there is a reward that He promises: 1 Sam. 2:30 “Those who honor Me I will honor, and those who despise Me shall be lightly esteemed.” Honor is an essential key to receiving from heaven. Those who honor God will be honored and honor from God is better than honor from anyone else. Jesus demonstrates this in Mark 14 when He rewards a women for showing his extravagant honor.
Why does Honor matter? 1. Jesus models it and tells us to do the same. 2. There are practical benefits when we honor: - A Good Life - A Long Life - A Blessed Life
God doesn’t want us carrying around guilt and unresolved feelings towards others. He wants us to know a full life, free from shame and regret. When we heed the Word of God and decided to live out God’s Way of “Honor,” it frees us to live a life of no regrets. Giving honor releases the power and life of God into our situations. Jesus models to us how to live a life of honor even to those who mistreat us. His example is not only inspiring, but He goes on in the Gospel of John chapter 13, to challenge all of his follower to “do the same.”. This message explores why we should be people living a lifestyle of honor.
Honor is a Biblical principle that seems irrelevant and outdate in today’s society. Honor is more that an admired quality found in “heroes”. It is a value, that if practiced daily will result in huge benefits that affect personal relationships and reputation.
There is a matter of the heart that affects our daily life. It’s a principle, that if genuinely applied will result in greater influence, stronger relationships, healthier family life, promotions at work, and success at school. But if this “matter of the heart”…this principle… is ignored, it will result in broken relationships, frustrated family life, struggles at work, and a bad reputation. There is a life principle that builds positive reputations, forms successful leaders, and creates champion athletes; “The Disciplined Life.”
There are two types of “disciplines” listed in the Bible; one relates to correction, and the second is about self-sacrifice. God teaches us throughout Proverbs, the benefits of “Disciplined Living”. It is evident in champion athletes such as Michael Phelps and other Gold Medal Olympians. In 1 Corinthians chapter 9, the Apostle Paul illustrates the importance of Disciplined Living by comparing our daily lives to an olympic race. The winner is the one who lives “The Disciplined Life.”
God is not some supernatural being that is looking to destroy our world? He is love and deserves our utmost respect. He want’s us to have wisdom and that begins with “The Fear of The Lord”.
What is “The Fear of The Lord? Am I suppose to be afraid of God like some mythical character that is looking to squish me like a bug? From Genesis to Revelation, this topic is repeated over and over. The Old Testament book of Proverbs lists the phase “The Fear of The Lord” 15 times. Proverbs 9:10 says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” In other words, the fear of the Lord is the starting point, the launching pad for knowledge & wisdom. We are not talking about the FEAR that we feel when we see a mouse, lizard or spider. We are talking about FEAR that could be described as: RESPECT, REVERENCE and RECOGNITION. “Healthy Fear of God” is based in a love relationship.

God is in the business of taking the worst and most unlikely circumstances and changing them for good.
In this message, James Younger unpacks the unlikely story of a man named Mephibosheth. In this story we see how King David keeps his promises and brings a broken man of shame to place of honor. In the same light we understand how Jesus takes us from our place of brokenness and elevates us to a place of honor as sons and daughters.

Thankfulness is a key that unlocks PEACE – JOY – CONFIDENCE. The opposite - “Ingratitude” - is like quicksand that blocks the path to experiencing God’s abundant life. Throughout scripture we see examples of God’s people filled with fear, expressing their INGRATITUDE by complaining. God’s desire is that we would be faith-filled and verbally express that faith through thankfulness.
God’s expectation is that we live a Thank-FULL lifestyle. Not simply once a year, or even once a day. We are told to give thanks CONTINUALLY.
A lifestyle can be defined as how we live, CONTINUALLY. Those practices, routines and patterns that we conduct on a daily basis are what define our lifestyle. In this message we hear that the Bible shows us that there is a place for religious ritual that serves as reminders of our commitment to God. But God is not really after our religiosity, He is looking for a thank-FULL heart. In Hebrews 13:15 we read, “Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.”
The way to become Thank-FULL is to create a habit of giving thanks daily. To experience the daily joy that God promises requires building a daily habit of Thankfulness. Most habits can be broken or built in just 40 days. In this message, Pastor Kelly Fellows gives four ways to start building a Thank-FULL habit.

What and why do we do this practice of Water Baptism? Water Baptism is an outward demonstration of an inward transformation. It is the first step of obedience a person make after confessing Jesus Christ as Lord.
This message gives the scriptural background and practical explanation of Water Baptism. The symbolic practice is a public declaration of faith in Jesus Christ. Each element represents the identification that Christians makes with the death and life of Jesus Christ. Like a wedding ring symbolizes the unending commitment of a husband and wife, baptism symbolizes the external commitment believers make to Jesus Christ.
Sharing your TIME with a person may be the most valuable thing you can give. We are instructed in scripture to be “doers” of faith. That includes practical giving & sharing of our TIME. The Apostle Paul said in 1 Thessalonians 2:8; “We loved you so much that we shared with you not only God’s Good News but our own lives, too.” Paul’s letter to the church in Thessalonica was very caring and it was obvious that his demonstration of love was TIME. Later in Ephesians chapter 5 he challenges us to make the most of every opportunity. Time matters. So, when we give time to others, we practically show God’s Love.
The heart and action of generosity is the tangible demonstration of God’s love. Jesus gives His last parable in the Gospel of Matthew chapter 25. In it, He shares insight into the “end of days” when humanity will be judged, and he uses an example of sheep and goats. What we see in Jesus’ parable is an evaluation of faith based on “Doing”. Those who’s faith was proven by demonstrated works are welcomed into God’s Kingdom. Faith in Jesus Christ is salvation. But the “works” of righteousness is the fruit of living faith.
Generosity is more than giving away money. It’s a matter of the heart. When we operate with generosity we demonstrate faith, break the hold of materialism, and starve the “selfish beast.”
One of the verbs that we learn from Jesus is “give.” He says in Acts 20:35 that “it is more blessed to give than to receive.” He didn’t say, “it’s more natural to give or it more easy to give,” because it’s not natural or easy to give. But giving blesses the receiver and the giver. In this message we learn practical ways to be a “giver” by using #TheGivingBag to bless others in need.

The factor that is necessary to sustain and validate a person as “DOERS’ is the personal character trait called, “Integrity.” It’s defined as “doing the right thing when no one is looking.” Doing what God says can be challenging. It requires devotion, dedication and determination. But the character quality that validates the work of “doing” is “Integrity.” In this message we look at 2 people who operated with Godly Integrity that resulted in reputations that are honored today: Billy Graham and Joseph son of Jacob (Genesis).
There are benefits to being a doer of God's Word. But being a "DOER" starts with FAITH. FAITH in scripture is a VERB. Faith is not intended to be a passive religious title. It is intended to be active and alive.
In this message we answer the question "How do you DO?" In other words, what is involved with being a "DOER" of God's Word? In part 1 we briefly look at the Biblical example of Noah. His response to God's voice helps us to realize that Faith is the main factor of being a "DOER". Faith that trusts God to be a promise keeper - Faith that courageously steps out despite the obstacles - Faith that results in action.
A “verb” is an action word, a word that describes “doing”. Action is required for thoughts and ideas to become reality. When God speaks a Word, there should be an appropriate response of “doing” what He says, not just “hearing.”
It is important to listen and hear from God. But if we hear from God and do nothing about it, then it’s like looking in a mirror and seeing changes that need to be made, then walking away and doing nothing about it. In the New Testament book of James, we are challenged by God to not only be “hearers” of His Word, but also “doers”. The results of being a “doer” is a life that is purposeful, joyful, and blessed.
We find out in this teaching that even the great men and women of the Bible had to learn how to listen and recognize God's voice. The example we look at is a young man named Sam. His story is found in the Old Testament book of 1 Samuel. Through his example, and other Bible references we discover five basic keys or "checks" through which every possible leading should be judged. They are: Scripture, Holy Spirit, Godly Counsel, Peace of God, and Circumstances.
We live in a age with tons of distractions. Technology (Facebook - Twitter - Music - TV - Movies - Video), Peoples Opinions (Associates, News, Etc), Activities (School - Sports - Hobbies). All of these "voices" can become so loud that it can be impossible to hear God's voice above the roar. To hear God's voice will require turning down the "noise" and learning to listen to His voice first. Having "ears to hear" God's Spirit will require exercising the discipline of listening to Him first each day before the noise starts.
Everyone likes BENEFITS; those extra perks that come when you participate in an activity or organization. Maybe it’s a car that comes with the new job or an upgrade to the health plan for your current job. Benefits are awesome. In God’s Word we see that He extends dozens of benefits for those who come to Him, hear His voice, and do what He says. Those benefits have traditionally been called “blessings.” This teaching highlights a few of the many benefits that God extends to His children, such as wisdom, insight, and stability.
God says in Isaiah 30:21 “Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” Whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.” He is saying that He will direct us. But we have to have ears to hear what He is saying. Jesus said these words over and over in the Gospels and even in Revelation “He who has ears to hear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying.” We need to have ears to hear what God is saying, if we are going to be the people He has called us to be, and do the things He has created us to do. The way to learn His voice is by getting into His Word. The more time you spend “HERE” [The Bible] the better you will be able to HEAR.
This Christmas season we are reminded that the first people to hear about Jesus' birth were the shepherds. Some of Israel's greatest hero's were shepherds, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and King David. David authored Psalm 23 describing God's caring role as Shepherd. In this message we learn that shepherds never leave their sheep alone, they lead, guide, protect and feed. Our "good shepherd", Jesus Christ, makes it personal as, "He restores my soul."
God demonstrates his love for humanity by willingly dwell in their midst instead of a palace, mountain or distant galaxy.
Since the beginning God has desired to be in relationship with His special creation; US. Every relationship requires three components to thrive: Trust – Frequency – Communication. God knows that for there to be a thriving relationship with humanity it will require close proximity for these three components to exist. So we see in the Book of Exodus that He willingly dwells right in the middle of the Israelite camp, in a tent called a Tabernacle. In this message, we learn that God loves us so much that he is willing to be right in the middle of our messy life.
Genesis Creation Story. All the gifts He gave at the beginning of creation: Sky, mountains, birds, bees, flowers, and trees. But all these pale in comparison to his ultimate gift…HIS PRESENCE IN THE GARDEN. Everyday he would walk in the cool of the evening.
