We continue our look at cartography, moving from the past to the present. How did the interpretation of Christology by the Holy Roman Empire become a worldwide religion that is defined by division and denomination?

In this episode, I’m taking the principles that emerged in the very genesis of the story and showing how they played out in the history of Israel and then became the foundation for Christological interpretation.

Further, the interpretation of Christology as a new religion has prevailed for 2 millennia as an assumption. However, there are now numerous questions about the state of Christianity that are troubling. Could it be that the interpretation of Christology is poised to evolve into an integral worldview, leading to a radical shift or even an evolutionary leap?

This is what we propose.

View Details

In episode 4 of our series on the Cartography of the Christian religion we discuss the root causes that have led to what we see looking at the current map. To do this requires starting at the beginning or genesis of the Narrative.

The story begins with Adam and progresses to Jesus who is called the last Adam. That sounds like a seamless story that defines a problem from its very start and then, over centuries of time, evolves into an entire paradigm identified as death. And whatever was the cause of death was removed by actions surrounding the role and function of Jesus the Christological individual and modeled by the Christological collective known as the body.

We now discuss questions raised by our interpretation of this evolutionary story. Did Jesus “kind of” defeat death? Was death defeated for a small percentage of the human race? What was the root cause of death to begin with?

And why does the story outline 2 possible identities starting with Adam and Abraham and evolve into a first century conflict between those identities that resulted in the coming of a new world paradigm? Why is universal God identity the outcome of the story?

It’s all about Christology.

We continue to use the historical model of Spiral Dynamics to illustrate how worldviews and their evolution related to the interpretation of God identity. The first 2 worldviews illustrated by the Spiral model are Archaic and Tribal. These 2 worldviews show up in the Biblical Narrative as Archaic Adam and Tribal Abraham. Both are in the Genesis of the story.

These 2 figures set the stage for the evolution of spiritual consciousness with regard to universal God identity. Understanding how Adam and Abraham understood God identity is a necessary first step in the journey. We are proposing that the Biblical Narrative is actually one seamless story that traces the beginnings of spiritual consciousness all the way to our present day map. Spiritual consciousness with regard to God identity did not start with Jesus. To understand how we have a current map of separation, division and denomination in the world religion of Christianity we have to start at the beginning and then see if we can find where the interpretation of the story got off track along the way.

We are using cartography to view the Christian landscape via a map. The map helps define the great diversity of churches and denominations.

Our series explains why the result of 2,000 years of evolution led to such division.

In this episode we use Spiral Dynamics to trace the history of the situation. The state of Christianity and the church must be understood from the beginning or Genesis of the God Identity story. So I show how everything preceding Jesus and the apostolic writers set the stage for an interpretation of Christology that led to a world religion.

From here we will propose a new future for Christology, one that results in world-centric unity.

The concept I’ll be using relating to map making is cartography. The audience for this series is any and everyone interested in having a global conversation for a new earth. All are welcome regardless of denominational affiliation or non-affiliation, Catholic or Protestant and those who are now post Christian or Trans-religious.

The series will address the map as it evolved from the past, meaning how the map took shape in the first few centuries and then expanded into a world religion of thousands of denominations and factions.

We will then address the map as to how it looks today. And I’ll ask each of you to identify your place on today’s map.

This episode is a summary of the main points related to Christology and the Holomovement. We continue to show how the current problems around Christianity stem from competing interpretations. To illustrate these points I have included a Theology Quiz! I’ve taken the idea from Sesame Street. They have a game entitled, “Which of these things is not like the other?” I will show you 3 diagrams and you have to come up with the correct answer. Who said theology is not fun?

In this episode we wrap up our in depth look at sin. Sin was a specific condition that was dependent on law. So questions have to be answered.

How can sin no longer exist but yet right and wrong do?

What is sin beyond right and wrong?

Why is the understanding of sin necessary to understanding doing and being?

Why do fundamentalist Christians exist?

Why do progressive Christians want to distinguish themselves from fundamentalists?

What is the next evolution of progressive Christianity?

We continue our discussion about Law and Grace in this episode. Law and grace is a very confusing story when one interprets Christology as a religion. And at the center of any discussion of the Law is the concept of sin. Sin is part of the language of the first covenant/world. Sin has a specific meaning related to the Biblical Narrative.

We will discuss how language today in a New Earth has transcended sin language. Yes, there is still right and wrong or obedient/disobedient but I no longer use the word sin in my vocabulary.

We are in the middle of a discussion based on a trans-disciplinary approach to the interpretation of the Biblical Narrative. The series is comparing the Quantum Physics findings about our universe with regard to the Holomovement with the Biblical Narrative.

We are proposing that the cosmology of our universe aligns beautifully with Biblical cosmology. Specifically, we’re comparing the Holomovement of our universe with Christology. Neither result in a religion but rather point to a trans-religious source of consciousness and Spirit.

Our universe and the Biblical Narrative are both God stories. The Holomovent is to the cosmology of the universe what Christology is to the Narrative.

We are proposing that interpreting Christology as a form/religion does not.

This part of the series focuses on law and grace. Just as the latest discoveries in Quantum Physics have resulted in new interpretations of our universe so also our integral approach to theology results in a new, wholistic and unified interpretation of the Biblical Narrative.

View Details

We continue to compare the new scientific discoveries related to our universe with our approach to a Christology that results in a Post Christian, Trans-religious outcome. The universe is the first story told by God. We propose that the Biblical Narrative mirrors and aligns with that story. Therefore the principles in our own universe provide a trans-disciplinary validation of our approach to Christology. It also illustrates how a divided, denominated Christology, interpreted as a religious form, is very problematic. Today we will consider and discuss both our universe and the narrative in terms of the movement Form, Trans-Form and Formlessness.

We are continuing our series comparing the cosmology of our universe with Biblical cosmology. The next few episodes will focus on one of the most confusing teachings of the world religion Christianity.

I’m referring to the concepts of law and grace.

At first glance one might wonder what our universe and the Biblical Narrative have in common on this subject. But this series is proposing that the concept of the holomovement in quantum physics aligns beautifully with Christology.

However, it’s not the Christology that the Roman Empire handed down 2,000 years ago. It’s not the Christology that is interpreted to be a world religion. It’s not the Christology that divides, separates and denominates.

We’re proposing a Christology that reflects the harmony and unity of our universe. We’re proposing a Christology pointing to a trans-religious, post Christian future.

What does the explicate order of our universe as defined by Quantum Physics have to do with the Biblical Narrative?

We continue our series by looking at the in-forming movement that led to the form-ation our universe. This story aligns beautifully with the Biblical

version of God’s creative action.

Today we look at the realm of form(s) in Biblical cosmology. They made up an initial creation or world that was necessary before the coming of a new creation or new heavens and earth.

Our universe consists of 2 orders- an explicate and an implicate. The Biblical Narrative also has 2 orders—the heavens and earth of Genesis 1 and the New Heavens and Earth. We will get to the implicate order in Biblical cosmology later in the series.

The movement between these 2 orders changes everything regarding long held interpretations of Christology, eschatology, hamartiology, soteriology and ecclesiology!

God has 2 narratives, the universe/holomovement and the Biblical narrative. Their meaning and interpretation will either align or not. God is not a God of confusion. God doesn’t provide 2 conflicting stories.

**In continuing our series on the Biblical Narrative as holomovement, I'm recommending you watch the video presentation as it includes 5 diagrams that will be helpful to see as you hear the information. Link to YouTube HERE.

In this episode we continue to address the power of convergence. Our proposal is that science is now telling us that the holomovement is nothing less than God’s creative narrative.

The radical and dramatic paradigm change is with regard to the interpretation of Christology as a religion, therefore Christianity.

We continue to propose that the biblical narrative points away from itself to a universal source or that which is called God.

Here are a few of the points that I’ll be discussing in this episode:

  • There is no such thing as ‘the church’. There are only thousands of iterations of what people disagree about ‘the church.’
  • God’s holomovement narrative is that Christology is transform….it is not a form.
  • We are not eliminating Christology….we’re reinterpreting it. An interpretation that goes beyond a “little God.”
  • The result is universal God identity…not a religion.
  • Christology and the holomovement both tell the story of God’s creative action.

Today’s podcast is an update on another exciting project. The field of convergence is revealing the importance of unified approaches that lead to global unity. Science and Spirituality is an example. Presence has already shown how the historical model of Spiral Dynamics validates our approach to the interpretation of the Biblical Narrative. Now we are working with those in the fields of science to do the same.

As science and spirituality converge we can now compare how the many different interpretations of the Biblical Narrative either align or don’t align with the science of our universe.

I will specifically talk about the concept of the Holomovement and a project I’m working on with Oxford Physicist Dr. Jude Currivan and Evolutionary Biologist Dr. Kurt Johnson.

And this soon to be published work (today’s announcement) will lead into my series this Fall on “The Biblical Narrative as Holomovement.”

The excitement level is higher than ever about the future of faith especially as it relates to the amazing Biblical Narrative.

We continue our Global Conversation regarding the movement from Dominator Hierarchies to Partnership Societies and families.

In this episode I want to discuss this subject regarding gender in the Biblical Narrative and the religion of Christianity historically. So let’s do some theology.

Tracking through the Narrative, the creation story culminates with the creation of male and female. In Genesis 2 the story says the 2 become 1. This idea is one of partnership.

Domination hierarchies identify power and authority to a specific group and all others are subjects.

How is that paradigm trans-formed in the story? Why is it important in the story? How has Christianity been a model of Dominator Hierarchy?

We end our series on Regeneration and its various concepts and implications regarding God identity. Judgment is at the foundation of a dysfunctional God story. It’s time to grow in our understanding of that which holds all things together.

View Details

The implications of God’s regenerative work are dramatic. Human identity is at stake. We’ve spent time talking about the 2 creations and their paradigms of consciousness. One creation produced bondage to sin and death while the new creation delivered humanity from sin and death. The first creation had last days and came to an end. That’s because sin and death is a consciousness paradigm and God was in Christ reconciling that way of seeing. God was in Christ the individual in the process of dying to the first creation and rising as the firstborn one of the new. But why was there a need for the body of Christ or ecclesia? What was the role and function of the church? If so many are leaving the church, could it be that church itself became misunderstood by the Gentiles? The church, as it has been taught and handed down, is now a problem. It’s time to think about how God’s regenerative work was in that body. It’s time to think about a dramatically different future—or keep doing the same thing and wondering why it keeps failing.

View Details

We continue to dig deep into our ancestral roots of identity. The act of regeneration was a process that transformed all things. One of the confusing issues around this discussion relates to sin and death. Why did Paul tell the Gentiles that sin and death were going to be removed when the Deliverer came out of Zion? The Gentiles thought the regeneration process was complete when Christ died on the cross for their sins. If you want to know your ancestry you have to do the research. So once again we research the Narrative for the roots of our universal, world-centric identity.

View Details

This episode is about the relationship of judgment to that of love and acceptance. The Gentiles in Rome thought the judgment of God was a process of separating human beings. Paul goes to great lengths to show judgment as that which reveals the basis upon which all are regenerated. The separation of self as source from Spirit as source was the necessary prelude to the acceptance of all. Paul’s teaching that all Israel will be saved has stood in contradiction to the Christian religion’s teaching of condemnation, wrath and casting away for the purpose of tormenting most of the world for eternity. The Gentiles in Rome institutionalized Jesus, made him the founder of a new religion and passed down this judgment message through history. Paul deconstructs this divisive message and clarifies the nature of God’s love and acceptance.

View Details

One of the major themes of the God story, handed down for the last 2,000 years, is judgment. We continue to look at what we’ve done with our understanding of God identity as it relates to judgment. When Christology is made into a religious form its boundaries must be policed. The focus of our thinking becomes tribalistic- who’s in, who’s out? This, of course requires judgment to insure those who represent God’s chosen ones.
Starting with the Gentiles in Rome, the end result of this approach over the last 2 millennia is leading to the disintegration of church attendance, the closing of seminaries and the lack of interest shown by the younger generation.
Now is the time to ask and seek. Now is the time to reconsider long held views of judgmental, condemning language. Is it possible God’s work through Christ offers so much more? Is it possible judgment plays a role in unifying the world by leading to restoration and acceptance for all?

View Details

Regeneration is the process of identity transformation. Our human family first understood identity from a tribal or genealogical point of view. Any encounter with tribes who were different brought conflict and even war. Integral thinkers are now pointing to a movement from ethnocentric to world-centric identity. But this world-centric or integrative movement is challenging to those in religion who attach their identity to a tribe that separates itself from all other tribes. Even within Christianity the embedded tribalism of denominationalism supports the divisiveness of this paradigm.
At the heart of the struggle is the issue of judgment. In this episode we continue the conversation for a new earth with regard to the process of casting out and acceptance. Both are part of the story. However, even the element of casting out is to reveal the basis upon which all humanity is accepted and the basis of God’s mercy upon all. And this goes against our ethnocentric instincts.

View Details

In this episode we continue to look at the relationship between Regeneration and Judgment. The subject of judgment has been a very confusing one through the ages. We discuss the role and function of judgment and why it was necessary to the process of regeneration. We also begin to look at the other side of the reconciliatory process- acceptance.

View Details

In this 4th episode in the Regeneration series we incorporate the principles of judgment as taught by Jesus with relation to regeneration. What is the role of judgment in the Narrative? How can we be in a new heaven and earth when there are those who do not belong? And who decides (judges) those accepted and those who are not?

We will begin by looking at the context of judgment, throne and regeneration going back to the early history of Israel. Judgment has inflicted more destruction, pain and angst upon humans than some physical violence. It’s place in the God process requires our urgent attention, especially as people are looking for answers beyond old paradigms.

This is episode 3 in our series on The Biblical Narrative, Integral Consciousness and Regeneration. The importance of world-centric thinking is showing itself in the Russian invasion of the Ukraine. All separation thinking leads to discrimination and denomination. The Narrative is a story of the evolution or growth of integral conscious (God as all in all) from ethnocentric thinking that divides people into tribes to a new tier of thinking that has eyes to see human identity as universal.

View Details

The global conversation is happening and synergy groups are formulating a new unitive narrative based on world-centric thinking. All fields of study are joining in and this has led to a movement of convergence.

But does the Biblical Narrative affirm the principles being put forth by science, art, technology, economics, education and many more? Or do we water down the Biblical Narrative by proposing that God is in this new way of thinking?

Today we discuss these questions further in order to see where we fit into an ever changing planet. I believe we are on the cusp of an amazing breakthrough for a Narrative that is becoming of less and less interest to people.

This first episode in this series compares the current narrative of Integral Consciousness with the Biblical Narrative. There’s a big discussion going on about the concept of convergence. More and more people are seeing something exciting amid the chaos. It seems that science, art, technology, education etc. are coming together to create a new unitive narrative. Amazing!

Some 2,000 years ago the apostle John said that all nations would walk in the light of a New Jerusalem as a cataclysmic shift in cosmology moved humanity into a New Heaven and Earth. This is the space of convergence of all fields of study and experience.

In this podcast I’m going to take an integral look at the role and function of disruption. I was inspired to talk about this as I read the book, “Rethinking Humanity” by James Arbib and Tony Seba.

The same principles of disruption that were at work in the first century, cataclysmic end of one world and the manifestation of a new creation are now happening in these sectors, that at first glance may seem to have nothing to do with theology.

But we see the principles of disruption as related to the evolution of human consciousness. Disruption is necessary to the creation of a much better world.

We continue our global conversations with Deborah Moldow in this episode.

Rev. Deborah Moldow has had an amazing journey from child TV actor to the Broadway stage to the United Nations and beyond. Deborah is founder of Garden of Light, a nonprofit for those aligned with emerging global spirituality.

Deborah served more than 20 years as representative to the United Nations group, “May Peace Prevail on Earth International.” She is also a founding member of the United Religions Initiative.

She currently is director of Evolutionary Leaders, a project of the Source of Synergy Foundation. This group brings together visionaries from around the world committed to the acceleration of the conscious evolution of humanity.

So you can see that our Presence connection with Deborah opens up a truly global conversation.

It’s time to take down the walls of religious separation and evolve into a new heaven and earth where the Spirit of God is the guiding principle of our identity. All of this is movement toward a greater manifestation of that which is all in all.

If God is truly all in all we must seek the God in all people. For millennia people have sought to know the transcendent. We come from the Biblical narrative but that narrative was never meant to be hid under the form of the Christian religion. Christians talk to Christians. Denominations read books that are written for their denominations. All of this perpetuates division not dialog.

You will hear the views of others and agree with some things and disagree with other things. But Presence is engaging our Biblical understandings to contribute to a global conversation.

Do God experiences only happen to this who read the Bible?

If Christology is Trans-form what about the role and function of narratives? If a narrative is trans-form it’s about that to which the narrative points. The narrative points away from itself as Christ pointed away from himself and the Body pointed away from themselves—to GOD.

I use the bible to show it’s not about the bible—it’s about that to which the bible points!

EPISODE 3 OF GLORIOUS FREEDOM

In this 3rd episode of Glorious Freedom we conclude our thoughts on the life conditions of our time. We return to the Biblical Narrative as a guide for the challenges of growth into a new way of thinking and understanding. The first century of transformation was bringing about a new way of seeing God identity. But the glorious freedom that it promised came with a cost. Just as now, the first century followers experienced the emotions and feelings that came with putting the old to death in order to move into the new.
We investigate their struggles with frustration, hopelessness, isolation, confusion and not knowing. The Narrative reveals how the chaos must precede the joy and peace to follow.

The setting for the first century dealt with the transformation of the Ages meaning it was world changing. I’ll give my views on why our time in history at the beginning of the 3rd millennium C.E. is nothing less.

No matter what part of the globe you live on, you and I are experiencing the same challenges and feelings of change. This time of change is enormous because it presents the opportunity for an evolutionary leap in human understanding—even though it may seem to be the very opposite!

In this episode I want to talk with you about leaving the structure of religion. Humans have always experienced their beliefs in God(s) via external structures or sacred objects. Israel was warned many times about the problems with idols. The evolution of spiritual consciousness has also been tied to temples, shrines, cathedrals, mosques etc. For those coming out of Christianity as a religious identity the church building is a symbol of such structure.
So let’s start with this concept and investigate what the Narrative has to say that might guide us today.

The Passion for For type 1s is ANGER. Type 1s are often called the Reformers and hold themselves to very high standards which is a good quality, right? SO…the deceitfulness of the passions is that it seems GOOD to be conscientious and ethical, with a strong sense of right and wrong. And being ANGRY goes against what seems to be GOOD. So they resist being angry. And when others don’t seem to hold the same standards of goodness then that anger that they resist builds. But 1s are even harder on themselves so that anger turns inward so often if they believe they haven’t lived up to their own standards. The relentless demand of the inner critic to be good and do good at all times and to set the standard for what is good, replaces personal needs and shuts down feelings which, if left unaddressed will come out in the form of resentment.

Type 2s…The Passion is Pride …..This seems so opposite of what we see in type 2s who are so giving of their love, their time, knowing what everyone else needs. In fact, they are so focused on others that they take PRIDE in seeming to not have needs of their own. THEY see themselves as THE SOURCE of what others need. It seems GOOD to be so servant-hearted but when they resist acknowledging they have needs, having denied their own in service to others, they are actually denying others the gift of service.

For type 3s the passion is Self-deceit or conforming to what they think is necessary to be SEEN as successful or WORTHY. 3s are often called “Shape shifters” because they will take on the role of what they think OTHERS want them to be. It seems GOOD to be success-driven and even GOOD to be adaptable but they resist resting in their authenticity and resist knowing they are fully loved apart from any external success.

The passion of type 4 is Envy but this envy is a internal sense of a lack of being whole…like something about themselves is inherently missing. They tend to believe everyone else has that missing thing. They long for authenticity which leads to the desire to be unique because they actually believe they ARE unique because others have what they believe they are missing. 4s are SO in touch with this FEELING of deficiency that they seek value in an idealized external experiences or work or a relationship. It seems GOOD to BE AUTHENTIC and not conform but they resist knowing there’s nothing missing because they are so identified with that image. It becomes a never ending loop if left in an unhealthy stage.

Type 5’s passion is AVARICE but in Enneagram language it is not a desire for obtaining money or possessions but of resources .They retreat inward and hoard their time and energy. This inward focus allows the Type Five ample time to focus on ideas and acquiring knowledge. That doesn’t seem like a negative thing, right? I mean…isn’t it GOOD to know what you’re talking about - to gain knowledge and to not just throw your time and energy away? It can be good for sure. BUT…they worry that if they share too much of themselves, they won’t have enough left. SO…in resisting connection by retreating inward, but it also builds a wall between them and others. As they pull back from external connections, they also become detached from their emotional self.

The passion for type 6 is FEAR. They are sometimes referred to as THE LOYALISTS - great people to have on your team, right? Type 6s are so great at anticipating what could go wrong. They look for where danger could be lurking or what problems MIGHT occur at any time. We NEED these people who are cautious and security-oriented. If I’m going on a wilderness trek that’s who I want to go with! But they can become so focused on what could go WRONG that they become suspicious and filled with self-doubt. So what seems GOOD can be paralyzing.

For Type 7s the passion is Gluttony. In this context it’s a almost insatiable craving to experience ALL THE THINGS. 7s see the positive in most things and are typically focused on being joyful and happy. 7s deepest fear is being trapped in emotional pain so they try to avoid anything that causes pain or sadness. In fact, they see their worth is in BEING the positive person. It seems GOOD to look for the positive, to be Joyful, to NOT dwell in pain. And so....they resist what is actually before them in the present and deny that they experience pain. This also makes them emotionally unavailable to anyone else who might need them in time of grief. And what happens? They disconnect from their heart and my body, rationalize away the pain and escape to a place in the future where there is no sadness. But that place doesn’t actually exist and instead of feeling FULL of all aspects of life, they are left feeling a hunger and emptiness through what appeared to be GOOD.

Type 8s passion is called LUST which isn’t just about sexuality although it can include it. 8s have a desire for INTENSITY in whatever they do. They take the initiative and make things happen! They see the world as unjust and power imbalanced. So they feel they need to dominate so they are not controlled. They are the most assertive type in the enneagram. 8s want to be self-reliant, to prove their strength and resist weakness, to be important in their world. 8s are often referred to as THE PROTECTOR. They are often champions for the underdog. That sounds SO GOOD! But in their attempt to control and NOT BE controlled they lose touch with vulnerability. They can see it as weakness and so they resist letting their feelings be seen. Make no mistake, though…8s are very feeling people but keep up the powerful façade so they won’t be hurt.

Type 9’s passion is called Sloth. So…what does ‘sloth’ mean in Enneagram language? It is sense of inertia to YOURSELF….a falling asleep to your OWN passions, abilities, desires, needs, and worth by merging with others. Why have type 9s been called the PEACEMAKERS? Because they strive to maintain peace both internally and externally. So, this means avoiding conflict at all costs!

You will often read about type 9s’ desire for Peace and Harmony like they are one and the same. But they are not. I think that 9s - like all of us, actually, would love to live in HARMONY with the world but we settle for NO-CONFLICT. The tendency is to GO ALONG with others to avoid not having peace. So - where is the deceitfulness of Good here?

Type 9s often make great mediators because they have an ability to see all sides of a situation. How great is that? They generally have a calming effect on people, they are usually non-judgmental, easy going. But, as we have quoted throughout this series, “what you resist not only persists, but grows stronger.” When you resist your own needs to accommodate others’ it will result in unhealthy relationships - maybe even a codependent relationship. Avoiding conflict with others keeps Nines from being fully present in relationships. Avoiding internal conflict leads to inertia and self-forgetting. When so much of their focus is on other’s then there isn’t a lot of energy to take care of your own. 9s can become passive-aggressive and resentment builds because they have so much to contribute to the world but taking on the role of THE PEACEMAKER keeps them from taking action on their own desires. Once again…this is the loop that we all get in when we don’t acknowledge our suffering. We are deceived into believing our GOOD WORKS will equal being LOVED.

As we continue to look at the deceitfulness of good through the enneagram perspectives we see how the passion, which comes from the latin word 'passeo' which means 'to suffer', of each type is tied to an attempt to resist the suffering by doing good. But, in the words of Carl Jung, what you resist not only persists, but will grow in size. When we resist confronting what makes us suffer it will only lead to deeper suffering, loss of self love and loss of relationships.

In this episode we look at Enneagram types 4,5,6 and 8. We are saving types 7 and 9 for next week as those are our types and we'll explore how this journey has opened up such growth for ourselves, as individuals, as well as our marriage.

Denée and I continue our series on the “Deceitfulness of Good” coming from the perspective of the individual as understood through the use of the Enneagram.

I really like the Enneagram as a way of understanding spiritual growth in every day life. If our study does not provide tools for looking inward at our own personal journey, we are not going to enjoy the fullness of life.

I’ve learned a lot about myself through working with Denée and the Enneagram material. It’s also helped me understand where she’s coming from when we work through our life conditions. People look at the same things but often see something different. Our marriage has deepened greatly by constantly communicating, being honest with each other and showing respect for our differences.

Along the way I have become less fearful of seeking out my areas of weakness and seeing new opportunities life more abundant.

In this episode we began looking at each of the nine perspectives regarding our human desire to be loved and accepted.

We return to the podcast world today in a new series I’m doing with Denée! The topic is the Deceitfulness of Good. We’re approaching this subject from multiple perspectives. Denée will be coming form the 9 perspectives of the Enneagram and I will be coming from theology and world religion using the Spiral.

The human being is so complex in our make up. We are the sum total of many different elements and life conditions. All of us experience transformation in some way every day of our lives.

The past year has been challenging on many different levels. We will discuss the global human longing for moving from chaos to unity.

All of our tools for transformation must include our individual and personal growth as well as our growth in relationships, groups and collectives. The more tools we have the more likely we can experience positive transformation no matter what challenges present themselves.

"The success of humanity's evolution will not be determined by "survival of the fittest," but by our own capacity to converge and unify" -- Pierre Teilhard de Chardin Central to the integration theme of The Ambient Christ is harmonizing the creation/evolution stories together as one, (a) for future generations, (b) to round-out the gospel story by explaining the third (organic) nature of Christ in creation, and (c) for a futuristic vision of where history is headed in keeping with the biblical timeline toward the Omega Point of history (a Christogenesis). The chief contributor to this integral view was French paleontologist, theologian, and mystic Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, who saw evolution as including the rise of consciousness in progressive stages, unfolding from its elementary state embedded (incarnated) in the heart of matter, to its advancing rise in biological, psychological (mind) and finally spiritual form over deep time. According to Joe Masterleo, author of Ambient, such a global advance in consciousness replicates the unfolding of same in unhindered human psycho-spiritual development (see 1 Cor. 15). Below find two short video clips on the significance of Teilhard's work and vision, found here and here. More than seventy years after his death, this gestating global synthesis is now birthing as Teilhard envisioned, headed in the direction of a third eye (spiritual) seeing necessary to bridge multiple splits and divisions at all levels toward a unitive global consciousness. (For those wishing to explore Teilhard's contributions in greater detail, there are corresponding YouTube videos of greater length that can be readily referenced online.) Teilhard anticipated the advance of the highest levels of human thought and consciousness converging in the direction of a new and inclusive synthesis. This Spirit-generated synthesis will result in the natural selection of a new human phylum (remnant) that has overcome its defunct ancestral habit of dualistic thought and perception. For an explanation on the faulty human tendency to think and perceive dualistically, and the necessity of overcoming the intensity of this subtle error(sin), see two video clips on same by Richard Rohr, here and here. Upon completing the unitive synthesis in his book, Joe extends Teilhard's vision by anticipating what this new, totally spiritualized phylum of humans will look like as homo elektor or homo universalis, evolved light beings and light workers, co-creating a new world with God "on earth as it is in heaven. #science, #evolution, #spirituality, #christ, #theology, #creation, #integral, #cosmos, #universalism

Both science and world religions agree that a unified field exists in the cosmos that holds everything together. In fact, the word Universe means “a reality turning around on one thing. Yet paradoxically, both disciplines offer different stories about the mystery of that one thing, the Creation Story (religion) and the Evolution Story (science). In a divided, post-modern world of disjointed stories, a novel, unifying story is in order. A truly integral story must be internally consistent, replicate itself at all cosmic scales, join inner/outer worlds in a practical synthesis, and offer a future-looking global vision for the planet. In “The Ambient Christ,” the author proposes that the Creation and Evolution stories are competing partial truths joined by a universal element, or constant (singularity) common to them both – light. Einstein and Tesla revealed that everything that appears solid in the world is light energy in a state of vibration, abuzz with pulses, oscillations, wave motions, rhythms, and cycles in a vast continuum of interconnected energy fields – all defined by the vibration and frequency of light (electromagnetism). Appearing in a countless variety of created forms, and cloaked in a variety of cultural beliefs, interpretations and practices, the author details how light is the single substance reconciling them all. Chief among the geometric forms found at all scales of the cosmos is the spinning, spiraling torus. The taproot of all forms, the torus is the underlying structure of every atom, molecule, cell, crystal, plant, animal, human, planet, solar system, and galaxy. Donut shaped, the torus is creation’s chief cornerstone, whose center point is a singularity, a black hole or zero-point (ZPF) that connects the Infinite Invisible (Spirit) with the space-time field everywhere. Such doubles as the biblical definition of the Universal Christ, the chief cornerstone “in whom all things consist and cohere” (Matt.21:42-44, Col.1:17). This seamless nexus joining Spirit and matter is the creative source of limitless growth, potential, information, inspiration, generative reorganization, and stabilization – an apt job description of how and by what energy and configurations divinity works and is co-present in all things. See working models of the torus and toroidal flow IN THIS VIDEO.

In episode 2 we begin to dig deeper into the common threads and connections between science and spirituality. Here are some thoughts from author Joe Masterleo:

From small beginnings, God makes things that make other, more complex things. Like a tiny mustard seed, all created things uncoil and evolve from an invisible dynamic center point at their innermost. Appearing as if out of nowhere (ex nihilo) from empty space, atoms group into molecules which form cells, which in turn form tissues, organs and eventually organisms. Among the universal images cast onto the field of matter from the quantum world (Spirit) is the spiral motif. Spirals are found at all scales in the universe, from quark to quasar. The spiral is a complex vortex that twists and rolls the stuff of creation from a sub-atomic zero-point at its tightly packed center, uncoiling from there like a scroll. Graphic designer Cristobal Vila has created powerfully animated images of same set to music in two awe-inspiring videos. The first is “The Amazing Fibonacci Spiral/Sequence,” found here. In the second, “Infinite Patterns” found here, note how the DNA molecule spins and whirls around an invisible axis the way plant tendrils coil around a garden stake. DNA and RNA contain electromagnetic feedback loops from the zero-point quantum (invisible) order we call God. All things large and small are created from the magnetic still-point of an invisible axis at their center (axis mundi) impressed upon the canvas of space-time by light. Quantum mechanics supports the notion that God is light, the invisible origin and substance of all created form.

This is the first episode in our series and I’m very excited to explore an integral approach to this subject. We begin by talking with Joe Masterleo, author of “Ambient Christ.” His book looks at the ways both science and spirituality are converging. The book goes in depth on models of science that point to a universal field that holds all things together. This, of course, is what we see in terms of God or Spirit in the Biblical Narrative. There is evidence of an All in All in both fields of study.
In this episode you will hear Joe explain how his journey led him to this understanding. We’ll talk about the major elements of the book and set the stage for the next few episodes that will take a deep dive into scientific models and the quantum realm.

The Trinity is at the heart of most Christian denominations. In fact, it is one of their most important creeds or doctrines. But humans are becoming tired of religious dogma and creed. This approach to Christology is no longer satisfying to people and we’ll explain why.
An integral approach to Christology always recognizes its two-fold nature. Christology is both the individual and the collective Christ. What you say about Jesus as Christ must be said about the Body or Collective as Christ. The nature of the head cannot be different than the nature of the body.
We then ask the question, “what are people hungry for today?” Are they wanting to hear more about the Trinity in your neighborhood?
Christology has a specific and unique role and function in the Narrative. It is Trans-Form! People are more hungry than ever for change. We want to see so many things move forward to better places. This requires transformation. And transformation is most powerful when seen as the action of God/Spirit.
So join me as I talk about these most important and pressing issues of our times on the planet. It’s all part of a global conversation for a new earth.

We have examined the Christian creed of the Trinity as it has been handed down since the earliest centuries. Our previous episode focused on the historical decisions that affected this doctrine beginning with the Roman Empire.
In this episode we discuss the Trinity from the Biblical Narrative. Our integral approach to the Narrative interprets Identity in relationship with theology not Christology. Christology is revealed as role and function in the story. We must also remember that Christology is both individual (Jesus of Nazareth) as well as collective (The Body). So we’ll look at the nature of both Jesus and the body from an aspect of unity and oneness.

In this second episode Cody and I discuss the historical context of the Trinity. Spiral Dynamics informs us regarding the Traditional level of consciousness which dominated during the Roman empire. In the Traditional era a person did not question authority. So no one could question the Caesar who represented ultimate authority. The empire saw Christianity as a way to consolidate its citizens under one religion. Making Jesus God eliminated all other claims from different religions. Confession to Christianity and its creeds was the authority determining one’s loyalty. Politically the term for going outside the boundary was traitor. Religiously the term was heretic.
But as spiritual consciousness has evolved many things have changed over the last 2 millennia. Now is the time to question the handed-down confessional creed of the Trinity.

In this episode we introduce our series on the Trinity. It’s great to be back with Cody as we continue to deal with all of the challenges of 2020.
We begin by using the same integral approach to this topic that we’ve used throughout our study of the Biblical Narrative. This approach also takes into consideration the Theology Without Walls movement. We’ve spoken quite a bit about this movement in our previous series on Atonement.
Once again we consider the biggest wall in world religion; Christology. And any discussion of the Trinity will center on the hermeneutics applied to Christology.
Cody and I want to consider the relevancy and meaning of the Trinity to a world seeking answers to the division of human beings. We ask, “Is the Trinity a dogma and creed to which one must confess in order to be inside the walls of Christology as a religion, or is the Trinity a universal story of human identity and oneness with the divine as revealed by Christology?
Is Christ identity or role and function? What’s the narrative telling us about who we are?

Our first 3 episodes have traced the evolution of Christological hermeneutics over the last 2,000 years. The 3 world views of Traditional, Modern and Postmodern have all contributed to thousands of denominated, separated groups who share one common theme. When Theology has encountered Christology it resulted in a world religion.

But those who write and research in the field of Integral Consciousness point to the appearance of a new level or stage of hermeneutics. An integral approach to Theology and the role of Christology within it results in an outcome beyond religion. The Narrative itself becomes the pointing finger toward that which is Ultimate.

We have seen in the last episode that attachment to form is common to all 3 previous worldviews with regard to identity. But what about the Biblical Narrative as a form? How should we understand the role and function of narratives in general? What about other narratives?

And let’s recall the statement of Jerry Martin, “Is TWW a form of comparative theology? Yes, if it is understood as a Comparative Theology Without Walls. But it is an alternative to those forms of comparative theology that are essentially confessional, seeking to enhance one’s theology by studying another tradition.”

Note how the concern of any comparative theology revolves around its forms.

We will look at 2 specific chapters in the TWW book for this discussion. First will be Paul Knitter, author of “Without Buddha I Could Not Be a Christian.” Secondly we’ll consider the work of Jeffery D. Long on “A Hinduism Without Walls? Exploring The Concept of The Avatar Interreligiously.”

This session will focus on the role and function of Christology as it relates to the movement from Form to Formlessness. Life is synonymous with growth and transformation. We experience transformation both individually and collectively.

We are currently experiencing a pandemic on a global level as we create new ways to communicate and meet as groups. As individuals we have been isolated and forced to spend more time processing our thoughts.

In the trajectory of the Biblical Narrative we see Jesus as a model for our personal growth. The Body models the Christ role of transformation for the human collective.

We will study of Christology from an integral perspective. God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself said Paul. The Narrative is a God story from beginning to end. Christ represents the way God is the source of all growth and transformation.

Christianity is the world’s largest religion. Therefore, its walls are higher than any other religion. But can there be a path forward that takes down this wall of arrested development? Can we move beyond Christology as a religious form?

It’s time to consider the history of Christology and the ever changing/evolving hermeneutics that have defined it.

We already know from Social Science and historical data that we’ve experienced three worldviews that are still alive and well here in the West. They are Traditional, Modern and Postmodern. When you track these three worldviews you track the hermeneutical evolution of Christology from fundamentalism to progressivism. But all 3 worldviews still end at the same place; Christ as a world religion.

The current leading edge discussions on consciousness have been termed Integral. Integral consciousness is now a whole field of study that applies its principles to business, finance, politics, education and even professional sports.

Presence is asking what Christology would look like using an integral approach to hermeneutics; a post-Postmodern lens. The difference is radical. Rather than separate itself into thousands of relativized and denominated religious forms, Christology points toward that which is ultimate.

New approaches to all narratives are now possible without walls of superiority and identities of more than/less than. Theos is the outcome - not a particularistic religious form. Is such an approach valid or possible?

About 5 years ago I attended a meeting of the American Academy of Religion in San Antonio, Texas. This group meets once a year and averages about 10,000 people in attendance! Attendees are theologians from different world religions who look at current issues in literally hundreds of break out groups over 3-4 days.

The Christian tracks have theologians from numerous backgrounds and areas of expertise. I went to San Antonio because a new group had formed called Theology Without Walls (TWW).

Why is this important to Presence?

TWW is challenging theologians to pursue studies of God beyond the walls of their particular world religion. So this is an attempt to move beyond the Interfaith movement. I want to share with you some detail about their foundational concepts and how this finally addresses the questions and proposals offered by our Integral approach. Our integral hermeneutic is now in play!

Cody and I wrap up this series on Romans 9-11 by discussing the doxology of Paul. One cannot help but notice its tone of celebration about the nature of God. Why was Paul so ecstatic? What does the doxology have to do with his understanding of universal acceptance after universal disobedience? How do you see God? Thanks for joining us today!

View Details

Paul makes it undeniably clear that God's answer to human frailty is mercy. He uses the word mercy 4 times in his concluding remarks. He emphasizes God's grace toward all those who did not believe like the Gentiles. All have been found under disobedience that He might have mercy upon all. This includes their enemies (11:28)!! What does our planet need to awaken to? What is our way forward? Thanks for joining us.

View Details

Paul draws his conclusions about God's universal love and acceptance in chapter 11. God's work in Christ was to take down the wall of hostility between Jew and Gentile. God identity belongs to the realm of the formless. There are no boundaries separating our global family with regard to value and identity. Everything and everyone is one. Paul lets the Gentiles know they have misunderstood their role in God's reconciliatory process, a process that involves all of us.

View Details

The Narrative tells us that Jesus arrived on the historical scene in the "fullness of time." In what sense does this fullness show up in the story? Paul explains that one element of fullness was the world-centric message of God identity that brought the Gentiles into the promises of God made long ago. Identity would break out and beyond the ethnocentric world into the universal nature of God. But another element of fullness that was necessary was regarding God's wrath. That fullness was modeled by unbelieving Israel. And the fullness of God's wrath was essential to gentile salvation as well. Not to determine who achieved proper faith and belief in order to obtain God identity, but rather to reveal the failure of all humanity to grasp anything through self as source. "He has found ALL under disobedience that He might have mercy upon ALL."

View Details

Paul begins Romans by saying, "the righteousness of God is being revealed from faith to faith." God's righteousness is fidelity to the promises. The revelation of how God keeps those promises has 2 elements: justification by faith and unbelief/condemnation. We continue our discussion of the necessary revelation of human consciousness that leads to condemnation and failure. Our failures were never meant to leave us separated from God. Our failures are necessary to our growth in understanding God's acceptance. Life is always about growing in light of God's fidelity to His promises.

View Details

The evolution of God identity came through a two-fold process culminating in both justification as well as condemnation. Paul explained to the Galatian gentiles that the bondwoman, representing those under law, would be cast out. Therefore, do not give in to the Judaizers who were attempting to subject them to circumcision as part of their new identity.

Paul now explains to the gentiles in Rome that the casting out of the old was to make way for the acceptance of the new on the basis of God as source of all human identity. God's final word was not casting out justification and condemnation. The final word was acceptance, reconciliation, and restoration of ALL things.

Romans 10 cannot be understood apart from Romans 11. Sound simple? Well, it wasn't for the gentiles in Rome and it hasn't been for Christians during the last 2000 years. Today we discuss the 2 concurrent themes running through the last days: justification and condemnation. Both had a role in the universal reconciliation of the world and the restoration of all things. The role of condemnation is what the gentiles misunderstood. That's how we got Christianity!

Thanks for joining us.

Paul goes into detail in chapter 10 about the current state of Israel with regard to faith and belief. We have to remember that Israel also had those of great faith and deep belief (see Jesus, apostles, etc.!) The Narrative reveals how we humans will always have the potential for growth. Faith can always be deeper. Belief can always be stronger. In this sense our past represents a time of less faith and belief. Paul points out that Israel stumbled when she encountered the faith of Christ. However! Paul will also ask, "have they stumbled that they should fall? Certainly not!" (11:11) Our lack of faith will keep us unconscious of the abundance of life, but it is not a work or requirement that determines our identity as God's own. Thanks for joining us today.

In this episode we finish our discussion of Romans chapter 9. There are 2 aspects of our human nature that are being revealed in Paul's time. One aspect relates to our self-centered instincts and brings about wrath. But wrath is a term in the Narrative indicating the removal of what stands in the way of our growth in spirit. Wrath is never the final word in this amazing story of our life's journey. Instead, wrath always leads to reconciliation and restoration.

View Details

Today we wrap up our conversation on the wrath of God in Romans 9. This subject will come back up in chapter 11. We will be able to fill out our understanding of wrath in its role once we complete Paul's line of thought. Ultimately, Paul understood that the story of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob pointed to a revelation of wrath and reward that would be fulfilled through Christ.

View Details

There are two elements of salvation running side by side in the transformation period or what is called the last days. Those that remained attached to the passing world of religion as inaugurated by Moses were going to experience wrath. Those that followed the faith of Christ would be rewarded. However! We continue to discuss the role and function of wrath as that which sets the stage for restoration and reconciliation. Wrath serves to remove all that stands in the way of human misunderstandings. Wrath is for the benefit of God's children. Join us as we discuss this in more detail.

Abraham symbolizes two aspects of the integral trajectory in the Biblical Narrative. The first aspect relates to his grandson Jacob who later became Israel. This aspect is biological through genealogy and lineage. The second aspect relates to Abraham's son Isaac. Paul notes that ultimately Abraham's descendants would be through his seed singular - meaning Christ. The birth of Isaac and the resurrection of Christ both come by the power of God. Paul is setting the stage for correcting the gentile misunderstanding about salvation and their saved/lost paradigm.

View Details

Today we compare Paul's use of Romans 9:6 (a very controversial verse) with his writing in Galatians 3:16. His motivation for writing both groups was to emphasize the source of salvation and the source of our identity. The gentile struggles with this have been handed down through the centuries from the days of the Holy Roman Empire! We look at why an integral approach to Paul is so vital to moving beyond these long held struggles.

View Details

We wrap up the first 9 verses of Romans 9 in this episode. Paul sets the stage for how Israel is saved. His teaching on salvation is consistent throughout his letters. Salvation is not of the flesh or human doing. Paul starts chapters 9-11 by clarifying how Israel is saved by God or Spirit as source and not through their attempts to keep the Law. While this seems obvious to the gentiles, Paul will have some shocking news about the manner of their own salvation. But, first, he must establish the role of Israel in this process.

View Details

Paul is concerned with the saved/lost paradigm of the gentiles in Rome. He knows that God's work in Christ was to deliver humans from judgment — not set up humans as judges. He begins by going back to the roots of this story and the role of the fathers. The fathers were foundational to religion — the religion of Moses. But Paul starts with the promises made to the fathers. Promises of deliverance from religion.

This episode wraps up our first look at the critical passage in Paul's letter, Rom. 11:26,27. We'll return to it later but these 2 verses have found themselves in the middle of numerous interpretations. We continue to use the Social Science model of Spiral Dynamics along with an in depth study of the Narrative. The problem revolves around a 2000 year old paradigm of saved/lost. The gentiles did not think all Israel would be saved. How about you? Do you have a saved/lost paradigm? How do you determine a person's fate when they die? Thanks for joining the conversation!

In this episode we begin doing an exegesis of Romans 9-11. Paul reminds his Gentile audience of his own ties to Israel in the days when he was known as Saul of Tarsus. Paul connects his past beliefs and understanding with the ones of Israel who were currently standing against Christ. Why would God call someone like this to be the apostle to the Gentiles? Thanks for joining our discussion.

We continue discussion of Romans 11:26,27. Paul explains the source of deliverance comes from Zion. Zion is a symbol of 2nd tier space. It is the space of spirit and being. Sinai is a symbol for human doing and that space creates bondage. Thanks for joining us in this look at one of the most controversial passages in the Narrative.

We focus on the problematic verses of Paul's Romans 9-11 section. It's chapter 11:26,27. Today we discuss the universal understandings of Paul when he tells the Gentiles that ALL Israel will be saved. He goes further by saying that God will turn away ungodliness from Jacob. Jacob is another way of saying ALL Israel because Jacob is inclusive of all 12 tribes.

And as Cody notes, God turns away ungodliness from Jacob rather than saying God turns away the ungodly of Jacob!

We'll have more to say next week on these 2 verses, but join us for the initial look at Paul's radical vision.

The 90 verses of Romans 9-11 are a great example of why an integral approach to the Narrative is so important. There have been so many differing/conflicting views on Paul's work because he has been interpreted through a 1st tier lens by those attempting to make Jesus a religion. We are at a time in history that now provides models of integral thinking. That perspective makes all the difference. Thanks for joining us today as we introduce the background of interpretations past and how we intend to proceed forward.

The human ego understands identity through attachment to form. Examples of this would be, " I am a ---Father, Husband, Accountant, American, Heterosexual etc. In fact, those labels are not definitions of identity but rather serve as types of roles or functions. The foundations of God identity began with Adam and his attempt to be like God by grasping the knowledge of good and evil. Good and Evil became the 2 forms by which God identity was achieved and maintained since the opening of human eyes. We examine this understanding in light of an integral approach to the Narrative.

We wrap up our Faith episodes (for now) and discuss justification. The other side of justification is condemnation. But neither justification nor condemnation are the final outcome of the story. Salvation from God the Deliverer is the final outcome. As the old age comes to an apocalyptic end with the destruction of the Temple, Priesthood, Genealogy, and the city of Jerusalem itself, there are 2 types of identities revealed. Those who followed and imitated the faith of Christ were "justified" in doing so. Those who clung to the age coming to an end suffered loss of the identity attached to that first tier, form based, age.

BUT! It was God who delivered all in Adam into the new age of salvation. So justification was a reward after the Spirit and condemnation was the consequence of "after the flesh." Listen now to hear more.

Today we look at the term "much more" as used by Paul to show the relationship of faith to salvation. Faith comes from human beings. Salvation comes from God. Faith is that which points to God as the source of our identity. By faith we walk in the confidence and assurance of our God-given image. Thanks for joining!

In Faith episode 5 we discuss more about the faith of Christ. Christ is uniquely God's manner of fulfilling all the promises made to the Fathers. Christ alone was crucified and raised and it was His faith alone that pointed to God as the only power of life--even life from the dead. All first century followers were imitating the faith of Christ. Their faith, therefore, was not to point inwardly as a work from self as source which guaranteed salvation, but rather it pointed to God as the sole power of giving life - to all - that God might be all in all.

In Faith Part 4 Cody and I continue to trace the evolution of faith through the entire old covenant period. Their faith was associated with promise. Next week we'll discuss the faith of Christ which fulfills the promises. Thanks for hanging in there with us!

The evolution of faith went from Abraham through Moses and on into the arrival of Christ. We have studied the Narrative from the point of view illustrated in the Spiral Dynamics model. Abraham, Moses, David, and the prophets were evolving within a 1st tier world. 1st tier faith is related to Promise. 2nd tier faith will move into fulfillment. What does that mean? Thanks for joining us today!

View Details

What is the role and function of faith in the Narrative? The writer of Hebrews points out that faith was not enough to fulfill the promises to the Fathers. Why not? We'll talk about that in this episode and begin to deconstruct definitions of faith that have been handed down over the centuries. Then we can look through an integral lens to find the meaning of faith in God's universal plans for His global family today.

We begin a study of Faith by going back to the beginning of the story. In the Genesis of creation the source of all things was God. The human response to God began with Adam and Abraham. While Adam's consciousness attempted to be like God, Abraham's consciousness moved him to depend on God. We look at the Genesis of faith as a concept whose trajectory will find fullness in Christ.

Salvation was a journey from Archaic Adam to Christ. The amount of time in this journey points to the nature of evolution. You cannot force it. Why didn't God simply send Jesus after Adam and Eve had their eyes opened? Because they were not ready to comprehend the mind of Christ. Everything that happened in the history of humanity was necessary for incremental growth. Thanks for joining us as we continue to draw conclusions from our historical perspectives.

The culmination of universal salvation was revealed historically in the changing of the worlds. The first World or Age had a necessary role and function for teaching Israel (as our model) about the principles of Law. Those principles were just as necessary as the one revealed in the 1st tier of the Spiral. But once that function reached its fulfillment, humanity was ready for its next step in consciousness. That step was into a new world or new age. It was only after the appearance of Christ that the 1st tier identity of Law and self as source became a problem. The 2 worlds, covenants, Jerusalems, mountains, etc. revealed the macro picture which we discuss here.

Well, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. So we discuss this thing called salvation and set the stage for our concluding episodes when we return mid-January.

We hope you continue to part of these conversations. We also hope you and your loved ones have a great holiday season!

Our human identity comes from God as source. We are of God, meaning children of God. God is also the source of the space called New Heaven and Earth. It is deliverance into this space that defines salvation. Once again God is the source of deliverance into this space just as God was the source of deliverance for Israel from Egyptian bondage.

Being created of God is the “whereby” of our identity.

Being delivered by God into the New Heaven and Earth is the “wherein.”

It’s all about God.

In this episode we discuss the concept of acceptance as salvation. The religion of Christianity has historically stressed pleasing God via obedience to some form of criteria necessary for salvation.

But we consider whether acts of pleasing God in order to be accepted really reflect the message of Christ.

Isn’t the Narrative moving in the opposite direction? Do children need to please their parents to be accepted? Or does one become conscious of their God-given identity that is innate? Isn’t it the EGO that always looks to please through doing?

Thanks for joining today!

Salvation has been tied to the evangelical viewpoint starting in the Traditional level. But there has been a mass migration away from fundamentalism over the last 20 years.

This reflects a change in the understanding of what it means to be saved. Is salvation for the few who please God through doing? Is salvation universal?

What does the Biblical Narrative tell us?

We continue our introductory remarks today in order to set the stage for a lengthy discussion of this controversial concept.

We can trace the understanding and interpretation of the Body of Christ from the first century to the present using the Spiral.

The first century followers lived in the center of a Blue (Traditional) worldview. They naturally interpreted from an institutional framework.

Just as the Roman Empire had a Caesar, Generals, and Centurions so also the Body of Christ became an entity ruled by a Pope, Cardinals, Bishops, and Priests.

The advent of Modernity (Orange) brought us Martin Luther who dared to question. Questioning led to protesting and consequently a proliferation of new denominations.

The current leading edge of thinking is Post-Modernity or the Green worldview. Many have moved into new forms such as non-denominational, emergent, and progressive groups.

We continue to ask:

  • What’s next?
  • What will integral faith communities look like?
  • Will we begin to see the Body of Christ as a first-century transformative model leading into a universal understanding of spiritual community?

Thanks for hanging in there with us as we wrap this topic up—for now!

View Details

The role and function of Jesus was transformative. Jesus is the firstborn one from the dead (all in Adam). The body of Christ was also transformative. They were the firstborn ones from the dead. What came after Christ and His body? The resurrection of all the dead.

Where do we live today? We live in the space beyond the transformative work of Jesus and His body. We live in a new heaven and earth where there is no more death. There is no separation from God or from others. No one today need be born again.

Because we walk in the light of that first century body, we know that God is all in all.

View Details

The body of Christ, as it has been understood for centuries, is a great example of divisiveness. Christianity is an interpretation of Jesus Christ as a new form, displacing the form of Moses. The church became a particularistic, form-based model.

We continue to discuss the enormous ramifications of interpreting Jesus Christ as Trans-Form. This approach frames Jesus and His body as eschatological in nature. Both are transformative in that both die to an Egoic, Self-Centered level of God consciousness and rise to a new level of consciousness that is Spirit centered – a movement from doing to being.

Both Jesus and His body complete their role and function within the last days period of the first century and become the first-fruits of a coming new Heaven and Earth.

Neither Jesus nor His body is present on planet earth today. Jesus entered into the realm of formlessness which, metaphorically speaking, is described as the right hand of God.

His body is also caught up and becomes metaphorically the New Jerusalem in whose light ALL NATIONS walk.

Thanks for being a part of this historic shift!

Paul emphasized the necessity of dying to form and form attachment. In 1 Cor. 2:2 he said, “I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ, and him crucified.” The followers in Corinth were struggling with their understanding of role and function in the first century transformation of the ages.

It is a natural instinct to identify with a spiritual teacher and a particular group. The history of Christianity is the story of denominational thinking.

Cody and I discuss this history and continue to re-evaluate new interpretive possibilities.

Thanks for joining us.

Today we focus on the concept of the cross event with regard to its meaning for the body. This first century collective was to imitate the role and function of the individual Christ.

The cross is a symbol of dying to something. The collective body was entering into death with Christ. Paul is emphasizing the importance of dying when he wrote to them, “I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.”

Jesus and His body modeled death to the self. The self must attach to form for identity, meaning, for its very existence. The body was following Christ into a death to form. Paul knew that attachment to him, Peter, Apollos, or even Christ, would simply birth another religious form.

True identity is being of God and God alone. We discuss in detail what this means.

View Details

Today we look at Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians. He expresses his concerns in chapters 1-3 about their understanding of the Body of Christ.

Paul’s question was, “Is Christ divided?” This question draws attention to our trajectory of evolutionary consciousness. The end goal of the Narrative was to deliver humanity into a new unified space called a New Heaven and Earth.

Unity is a primary theme in the story of our identity. Humans began in a Form-based consciousness paradigm. Identity was temple, priesthood, and law.

Jesus and his Body were to represent God’s reconciliatory work in Christ for the purpose of Trans-Forming into a space beyond form and boundary-driven thinking.

For 2000 years the religion of Christianity has made Christ (and his body) another Form. Division can only exist in the realm of Form. Formlessness cannot be divided. So, we consider the implications of our current world views which have resulted in unprecedented division among humanity.

Today we wrap up our eschatology overview. We’ve given this perspective from the insights of integral theory, specifically with regard to the quadrants. Please refer to the book by Ken Wilber, “A Theory of Everything.” This is a good starting place to see how an all in all God fits beautifully into an integral framework.

Today we conclude with the radical difference in interpretation related to an eschatology that moves consciousness from a 1st tier world of form (therefore Jesus and his body) into a 2nd tier new space—the space of a New Jerusalem. The impact on how we understand our global human identity and how we relate to all others is at stake. It’s time for the evolutionary leap!

Welcome to the conversation.

We are bringing the focus on eschatology to a close for now in these last 2 episodes. Our discussion today further looks at the reasons why an integral view of eschatology must include a collective known as the Body of Christ. First we illustrate the 4 quadrants which are an aspect of Integral Theory. The Body is represented in the lower quadrants.

Then we use the VENN diagram to illustrate and map the place of the Body as it relates to the individual (Christ the person) in the overall trajectory of the Narrative. We once again re-emphasize the space of Trans-Form is for the purpose of role and function. It is NOT Identity.

We continue our discussion of eschatology and kingdom. Israel represents kingdom in the 1st tier sense of form. The throne of David is a literal throne adjacent to the Temple. The Davidic kings ruled over a geographical territory. This kingdom, in the realm of form, was subjected to other kingdoms and empires such as Assyria, Babylonia and Rome.

As Trans-Form, Jesus ascends to the symbolic throne of David in the realm of Formlessness. His trans-Form work pointed to the defeat of sin and death—the final enemy whose existence required the Law which governed all internal Form boundaries—obedient/ disobedient etc.

We conclude this episode with the introduction of the rapture and rapture language. We’ll take this up in detail in coming episodes.

View Details

This discussion introduces the concept of Kingdom and its role in the Narrative as well as its relationship to eschatology.

Kingdom represents the seat of power. The source of power is the subject of the story. In the beginning of human consciousness, the egoic self seeks to grasp power as a means of survival. The story of the Kingdom of Israel has much to teach us about our own journey.

We discuss the traits of misused power and the way it has manifested in history. Thanks for joining us on this “power trip.”

How do we answer the question, “who am I?” Our existence and our very identity depend on the environment or the space in which we live. Today we discuss this idea of identity and environment/space from the perspective of the initial heavens and earth as a consciousness of form that evolves and transforms into a New Heaven and Earth, meaning a new space. That new space of human identity is God space. It is formless in the same way that God is formless. There is no separation with God. God is all in all. This movement from one Cosmos to another also relates to a movement from bondage to freedom. Thanks for joining us as we discuss it all.

View Details

An integral approach to eschatology includes the 2nd tier space of being, formlessness and spirit. This space is defined in cosmological terms as new heaven and earth and new Jerusalem. The lower right quadrant of an integral interpretation takes into account the cosmology of form and its developmental history through the centuries in the narrative.

We propose God space as the realm of our next evolutionary understanding, meaning that we can now see how our true self is identified with that which lies beyond the historical plain.

View Details

Today we continue our discussion on the role and function of the collective (body of Christ) with regard to Trans-Form within the 1st century. The Quadrants model informs us from an integral standpoint that evolution involves both the self as well as the collective. This is why the Narrative says so much about eschatology beyond the Cross. It is also why eschatology has been the 2000 year-old thorn in the flesh when it comes to understanding our universal spiritual identity. Welcome to the conversation!

View Details

We continue our discussion of eschatology as it relates to the model of the Quadrants in Integral Theory.

We began in the last episode with the UL (upper left) and UR (upper right) quadrants addressing the individual. We discussed these in terms of Jesus of Nazareth and his internal consciousness (UL) and his external biological body (UR).

Today we move into the LL (lower left) and LR (lower right) Quadrants relating to the Collective/Ecclesia/Body of Christ.

We will begin a discussion of the LR in terms of things made with hands. In archaeology this applies to the examination of artifacts as external evidence of the internal consciousness (LL) of a people within history.

In our VENN trajectory this would be the realm of Form. God Identity is initially understood by His dwelling in the Holy of Holies. In other words, in a building made with hands. This is the realm of the LR.

Thanks for joining us today!

Eschatology is a transformative movement in salvation history spanning a 40 year period within the first century from the Cross event to the Temple event. In an integral approach, the upper quadrants represent elements of the individual while the lower quadrants deal with the collective. Today we talk about eschatology and the collective. Just as the cross was an external event in history involving the individual, so too was the Temple event an external sign of a greater spiritual reality. So we began with the teaching of Jesus concerning his coming and the END –of the age/cosmos.

Cody and I introduce some basic concepts today including some personal experiences shared by Cody as he grew up in his church. Our discussion of an Integral Theology moves into the realm of Trans-Form or the end of 1st Tier in the Spiral and the beginning of 2nd Tier.

**Note again on the Venn Diagram where eschatology is located in the trajectory of the Narrative. Its role and function is both dying and rising.

Today we lay the foundation for our eschatological series by noting its basic elements. First, the span of eschatology begins with the Cross and ends with the Temple event in the first century as taught by Jesus in Mt. 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21. The movement into a new heaven and earth paradigm or new Jerusalem paradigm is part of human history. It represents the space between 1st and 2nd Tier. This Trans-Form movement was integral to both the individual and the collective.

Note here the use of Wilber’s Quadrants in Integral Theory and our application of it in the Narrative.

Jesus models the individual and his body is the collective.

Eschatology is critical to both. To reduce eschatology to the cross, or conversely, to only the collective body distorts the story. We no longer have an integral theology.

We discuss how Jesus and the body go through 3 eschatological aspects in the process of Trans-Form.

Thanks for joining us today!

Doug and Cody discuss the difference between 1st and 2nd tier perspectives. Even though Postmodernity has brought greater inclusion and higher values to human rights, it still resists the leap into 2nd tier. In Christianity, postmodern level consciousness would be recognized as progressive or perhaps emerging. But post modernity still attaches to Form, as do all 1st tier levels. Even this interpretation of Jesus focuses on Re-Forming –over and over again. But 2nd tier interprets Jesus as Trans-Form or the movement of spiritual consciousness into Formlessness. There is a clear role and function of Form and Trans-Form in the Narrative as God’s trajectory raises us up into the realm of new heaven and earth formlessness. Welcome to the conversation!

Our continuing discussion of postmodernism takes up the aspect of disagreement versus attacking. The advent of Progressive Christianity within postmodernity has brought about sharp disagreement with the worldview of the Traditional level. At the same time, Postmodern progressives are now under critique from those who are seeking an Integral approach. Social media is now a manifestation of the challenges presented by competing world views. So, how do we converse?

This episode takes a closer look at the way Post Modernism is situated compared to the Traditional and Modern levels. A comparison of science and religion is made regarding the shared trajectory of both as humanity moves into ‘Green Space’ (Post Modern Level of Consciousness in Spiral Dynamics) and positions itself for the leap into formlessness. And Post Modernity is examined for both its transcendent elements beyond previous levels as well as its unhealthy aspects. We’ll close this episode noting those unhealthy aspects and then ask how (or if) we can critique this worldview without attacking those who hold it.

We begin a look at the last level of first tier in Spiral Dynamics; Postmodernity. The postmodern level or stage reacts against the shortcomings of modernity. That is, humans can enter periods of deconstruction for a while, but they eventually long for a reformation of community or reconstruction. Post moderns do not want a regression to the older, Traditional definition of community. Rather, they want to transcend the tightly drawn boundaries of previous world views which excluded many others on the basis of class, race, gender and orthodoxy. This level is where progressive or emergent Christianity resides. So, the question in future episodes will be, “what comes after a first tier interpretation of Jesus as a religion?”

But today we have a link to 2 VENN diagrams that will greatly assist you as I go through the mapping of history and evolutionary spiritual consciousness that brings us to postmodernity—the last first tier level.

We conclude our discussion of the Modern level or stage. Modernity began a deconstruction of Christianity that continues to this day. It was Martin Luther who introduced Modernity to the paradigms of Christianity. At the heart of his deconstruction was a new approach to human authority and God identity.

Until Luther, no one questioned the egoic basis of the Christian religion. And after 1500 years of using a self as source paradigm, Jesus as religion or form had been suffering under corruption.

We also note the importance of individual participation in the realm of interpretation versus reliance on man-appointed authorities.

This episode sets the stage for the entrance of Post modernity to the world’s stage.

We should be aware that better does not mean avoidance of threats and challenges. Nothing better can evolve without chaos and deconstruction as part of the process.

Rob moves to the question of WHY things get better. This connects our creativity to our God image. The synergy of collectives is becoming stronger as we remove boundaries between fellow human beings. We do not have to participate in better things alone. Finally, we discuss the goals of a better trajectory. Specifically, the focus is on liberty and freedom and their importance in the Biblical Narrative.

Today we complete our discussion of Empire by tracing the role and function of Kingdom through the Narrative. We start with the prophet Samuel who sees Israel’s desire for a King as a problem. The nature of kingdom evolves from self/ego as source to God as source. The battle is on for obtaining power.

The Narrative integrates with the Spiral in the sense of transcend and include; meaning that there is a first tier understanding of kingdom through David and a 2nd tier understating of kingdom through Jesus. Jesus is inclusive of the Davidic lineage as his direct descendant, and yet, Jesus transcends the work of David in restoring the kingdom to God.

Thanks for joining us.

This session concludes our introductory discussion of the Traditional worldview or Blue Meme perspective. The element of empire evolves at this level and Israel wants to be like all of the other nations/empires. She asks for a king. This desire was an amplification of Adam. It symbolizes the unhealthy manifestation of desire; coveting. Both Adam and Israel covet power; specifically, they covet power through self as source. Desires are all God-given but human consciousness can do what no other animal can do—reflect upon that desire for the purpose of self-gratification. The Ego wants power! Adam wanted the power to be like God. Israel wanted the power to rule herself. This is another necessary step of evolution- the evolution of Kingdom (God Power) and sets the stage for the transformative work of God through Jesus. Power comes through one source only; God. So, what does that mean for religion and Christianity?

Doug and Denée continue the discussion of the 2 major elements of the Traditional Level in the Biblical Narrative; Empire and Institution. Both of these have in common the development of Law. In both cases there arises the need for control and the execution of judgment. We note how these foundational principles have continued until our own time. Today’s emphasis is on Institution and its relationship with religion. We set the stage for our concluding podcasts on the Blue Traditional level before moving into Modernity.

View Details

We continue the discussion of the Blue Traditional Stage. Two of the themes in this worldview were Empire and Institution. Although we note that empires were part of the historical record in the Narrative (Egyptian, Babylonian, Roman) the discussion begins with Institution. Specifically, we investigate religious institution as it come on to the scene through Moses and the Law.

We note that Law requires judgment. Therefore, God identity is understood as self as source, meaning that ones own keeping of the boundaries establish and maintain God identity. This first tier understanding and interpreting of God enforces the concept of separation and the need to please God through doing in order to be one with God. While this stage was necessary in order to teach humanity about morals, ethics and healthy life decisions, it also put everyone in bondage to a system of control.

Next week we will return to empire and go into detail about Israel and the Kingdom of God.

In Part I of our conversation regarding “Leaving Church” we laid the groundwork for today’s segment by introducing the Enneagram and the 9 types. Earlene shared on overview of the Type 2 also referred to as “The Helper” while Denée shared her type, a 7, also known as “The Enthusiast”. If you are not familiar with The Enneagram we will, again, share some resources we use and recommend.

Earlene, Denée’s mother, and Denée each grew up in the same fundamental Christian denomination. Not only were they very active members of their church but their family history of church leadership runs deep. So ‘going to church’ wasn’t just an activity but an ‘identity’ and a way of life.

As their views of God began to expand beyond the boundaries of their traditions, the conflict with those in authority came to a breaking point when they were told they could no longer be in fellowship with the only church family they had ever known. When asked, “Why would you want to stay where you no longer hold the same beliefs?” Earlene didn’t have a satisfactory answer. That answer became clear, but only after much heartache and introspection.

Earlene and Denée share their story of how they each made the transition and dealt with the trauma through the eyes of their perspective personality types.

Today, although no longer a part of any organized religion, they continue to work with people in a variety of environments to offer comfort, support and validation to those going through similar experiences. Rather than promoting more division, their hope is to point to the whole Spiritual community where all every ‘type’ is not only welcome, but is already a part. It’s through honest conversation that we truly get to know each other. It’s through our stories that we connect.

We’re going to introduce another tool or map called the Enneagram that is a beautiful complement to The Spiral Dynamics model. The reason we are layering the Enneagram into the conversation is, while we may be experiencing life from the same collective world-view, such as a Traditional or Post-Modern, our own unique motivations and reactions will come into play especially when we encounter change.

What is the Enneagram? It is a Map of our own unique personalities to help us see our particular traits, actions and reactions, coping methods and our style of speaking. It’s also a map for what is going on inside our internal landscape or terrain. But what makes The Enneagram different from other Personality Typing Maps is that it helps us understand WHY we do the things we do and what is driving us. It shows us the lens through which we see the world and gives us a look through others’ lenses. It is a powerful tool that shows us what it feels like to be in our own skin and it offers a way to understand others in theirs.

As mother and daughter, Earlene Fowler and Denée King share a lifetime of being told ‘the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree’ or ‘they’re two peas in a pod’! But the Enneagram brought to light why their reactions to being told by those in authority that they could no longer be a part of the only church community they had ever been a part of, were so very different.

In Part 1 of this two-part series we share what it’s like to experience life from our own unique ‘typologies’ or Enneagram numbers. We will set the groundwork for why our reactions to one of the most emotionally traumatic events in our lives — leaving the traditional religious community of our family —were so very different.

Today we introduce one of the primary levels of the Spiral, the Traditional Level. This level was present when Jesus appeared on the scene. It creates the concept of Law in order to move away from the Warrior worldview. Jesus, Paul and the other Apostolic writers will start all of their teachings on the foundation of Moses - Law and Traditional principles but then move beyond to even higher levels. Like all levels, the Traditional can be healthy or unhealthy. Jesus did not come to destroy this level but rather to fulfill (Matthew 5:17 - "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them).

Once again we see the concept of transcend and include at work. This is only the beginning of the conversation around Traditional thinking. We will be referring to it throughout future podcasts.

Today we discuss the Warrior level of consciousness as human world-views evolved from the more simplistic, Tribal level or stage.

Once again, we refer to the work of Don Beck and Chris Cowan, “Spiral Dynamics” as the basis for our discussion of the Biblical Narrative in lieu of world history. Israel’s interpretation of God and God Identity was shaped through the red lens (warrior) of power and dominator hierarchies.

God did not evolve into a different God as the Narrative progresses, but rather, human consciousness evolved as humans grappled with the nature of identity.

The Warrior level represented a lot of deconstruction and chaos. The previous tribal level functioned primarily through isolation and separation of groups, but as populations encountered each other war became the default way of dealing with differences.

The Warrior level is ever present, even today, as the egoic response to perceived threats. We discuss how many people in the Christian religion have suffered at the hands of those in power. Fear is the major weapon of choice for silencing those who dare question the power brokers.

Jesus experienced first hand this mindset. As we continue to grow beyond 2000 year old paradigms, we should expect nothing less. When the ego attaches to a form for identity, the blood will flow when that identity is threatened.

Thanks for joining the conversation!

We conclude our discussion of Jerusalem and its continued history of controversy. While the cross was the eschatological moment of transformation for Jesus the individual, it was Jerusalem that symbolized transformation for the collective known as his body. From the cross to Jerusalem’s end are the first century bookends of a total transformation and restoration of all things.

We look at Peter and John with regard for a New Heaven and Earth space wherein a New Jerusalem is to be found.

This New Jerusalem is without boundary regarding human spiritual identity. It is the home of our global family and therefore fulfills all that God promised to Abraham; a promise that God would bless all the nations.

We continue to encourage a conversation for a new earth, one that provides life for all beyond the multiplicity of us versus them paradigms, beyond doing and beyond religion.

Why did the president’s announcement regarding recognition of Jerusalem cause such an uproar? Why is this ancient city still in the middle of political and religious conflict on a world-wide scale?

In this episode, we build upon the 3 part discussion of Abraham just concluded. Abraham looked for a city whose builder and maker was God. (See Hebrews). Is that city the Jerusalem located in today’s middle east?

We include the links below to provide background for the current discussions taking place on the world stage.

Also, let’s once again look at the VENN diagram for today’s discussion of 2 Jerusalems. The evolution of spiritual consciousness in the Biblical Narrative is symbolized by this city as it moves from Form to Formlessness.

The Genesis of human consciousness has 2 elements: Self as Source and Spirit as Source. Archaic Adam has an eye opening experience of Self. Abraham has an experience of Spirit as Source through living by faith. The Tribal level of Abrahamic consciousness points to different cosmologies. Tribe will evolve from the particularistic (Nation, singular) to the universal (All Nations).

God is Source of Identity. Faith points toward God’s work, not humanity’s.

A change of worlds resulted in a change of Identity.

Human Self as Source has historically produced division and conflict. Dependence on the human self for God Identity has been futile. Father Abraham was NOT a post modernist. Abrahamic faith pointed to spirit that transcends forms, divisions and denominations.

What then, does this mean for the transformation of our faith communities? Looking ahead, how should we interpret the Faith of Christ?

View Details

We trace the evolution of faith as it existed in Form initially and then the movement into Formlessness. The promise, given to Abraham, reached fulfillment in its universal manifestation. The promise was fulfilled by God’s action—not human action.

Christ fulfills and delivers. Formless = God as Source of Identity. The faith of Christ pointed away from Self and at the same time toward God. Trans-Form –time is short. The ‘form’ of this world is passing away.

We discuss Abraham as related to Cosmology. Abraham’s faith pointed to a Cosmology of Formlessness beyond time, geography, biology, holy cities, sacred lands, buildings made with hands and paradigms of doing. We use the phrase “made with hands” to illustrate these principles.

We begin the 2nd stage of evolution as it moves from the individual Archaic) to the collective. This is the Tribal stage or level. Tribal begins with a very closed understanding. For example, the beginning is limited to biology/genealogy.

Abraham is the Genesis of Tribal consciousness.

Time Magazine, in 2002, wrote about the significance of Abraham in religious history. Time labels Abraham as a representative of particularism. But is that a fair assessment? Is that true but partial?

Could Abraham take God Identity from the particular to the universal?

If Adam is a universal symbol for sin and death, could Abraham be a symbol of deliverance from sin and death into a universal symbol of life?

Abraham is always related to the concept of Promise. The Promise begins in 1st tier as a great nation (singular). The Promise finds its fulfillment in 2nd tier by God blessing ALL THE NATIONS.

NOTE: Use the VENN. Nation to all Nations/Particular to Universal/Form to Formless/Religion to Spirituality itself.

Is Christianity a 2000 year old form or particularism? Is it time for another growth movement in our interpretation?

We acknowledge that millions still find Jesus as a religion as meeting their life conditions. But, we begin a new conversation for those who have left Christianity and those who are seeing Jesus as God’s servant for an ALL NATIONS (universal) outcome.

Romans 1:17 “for the righteousness of God is being revealed from faith to faith.” This faith to faith trajectory is defined as faith of Abraham to faith of Christ. Abraham introduces spiritual consciousness beyond the self, meaning, that faith looks or reaches outward. Adam introduced self as source (of God identity) and now Tribal Abraham, through faith, introduces all that lies beyond the self, which is to say, all that relates to the realm of Formlessness, Spirit and God.

Adam begins a first creation which brought consciousness of the Self on one hand but, also brought about bondage to separation or death.

NOTE: see the VENN diagram. Form/Trans-Form/Formless

Adam begins a trajectory of understanding one’s God Identity. Adam’s foundational consciousness of self is at the heart of Israel’s law keeping in order to establish and maintain God Identity. The creation founded on self-consciousness would pass away. A new paradigm or new creation would result.

We discuss the elements of each of these creations as outlined in Hebrews 12. We compare Mt. Sinai and Mt. Zion as Form and Formless or Self as Source versus Spirit as Source (of one’s God Identity). Jerusalem plays a critical role in the Narrative. The elements of each Jerusalem define the trajectory founded in Adam. Paul, who always went back to Adam for his understanding of identity, outlines the importance of each mountain in Galatians 4. Paul also emphasizes the implications of each Jerusalem.

IN THIS EPISODE:

Today we continue our discussion about the initial level of human consciousness as proposed in Integral Theory; that of the Archaic. You will find it very helpful to pull up the doc here in show notes locating Adam in the realm of Form as well as his relation to what is evolving—Trans-form and Formlessness.

  • God/Spirit as Source is the creator of humans and the ground of being from which spiritual consciousness arises.
  • God kills! (that which stands in the way of growth).
  • God makes alive! (the process of transformation into the realm of formlessness).
  • Consciousness based on a False Self Identity is necessary for the foundation and understanding that leads to a True Self Identity.
  • Adam represents the human self as individual while Israel will become conscious of the very same principles in the collective.

IN THIS EPISODE:

We continue the discussion of the first level of the Spiral and its application to Adam. Each level in first tier is boundary driven. Therefore, humans attached to the Form of a level as an understanding of Identity.

Adam introduces us to the 2 forms behind all other first tier forms; Good and Evil.

We discuss Adam as the foundation of boundary driven thinking upon which the other levels evolve.

A comparison is drawn between Adam and Israel. What Adam began, Israel multiplied. Here we note the relationship of the Law and Sin and Death. When boundary driven thinking is used for one’s identity, the resultant state is death or separation from authentic God/Spirit identity. We conclude today’s podcast with a brief discussion of Romans 8 and the 2 creations or 2 tiers. The first is in Bondage the second represents Freedom. Bondage is the entrapment of Boundary. Freedom is deliverance from that paradigm of consciousness into the 2nd tier or 2nd creation space beyond boundary. Boundary is a necessary role or function but it cannot be used for Identity.

IN THIS EPISODE:

We introduce the concepts surrounding the initial stage in Spiral Dynamics; theArchaic. This stage is the foundation for human spiritual consciousness.

Within this stage are the concepts of Form, Boundary and Governance (Law). Creation begins as void and without Form. Adam also begins without Form in terms of an unconsciousness requiring the opening of his eyes.

The opening of the eyes required a God given commandment. Without a command, Adam would never have been conscious of the Forms Obedient/Disobedient and the violation of Boundary. Behind all consciousness of those Forms are the Forms of Good and Evil. We begin a conversation today that will require a number of episodes to see how the Narrative presents the human evolution of God consciousness and the understanding of our very identity.

The Archaic stage, like all first tier stages, is a necessary part of God’s creative work regarding our spiritual consciousness. This stage does not represent a disastrous fall. Until there is consciousness of Form there can be no consciousness of our true, authentic identity-Formlessness.

Thanks for being part of this conversation.

Today we continue our discussion of Role or Function versus Identity.

The apostle Paul was a universalist when it came to identity.

Let’s look at Paul’s 2 universal identities in Galatians 4:
Flesh (self as source) versus Spirit (God as source)
Old and New Covenants (agreements)
States of Existence—Bondage versus Freedom

Using the VEN diagram we outline the trajectory of human spiritual consciousness moving from Form to TransForm to Formlessness. We invite you to join the conversation!

Identity…what is it?

What happens when we confuse ‘role’ and ‘function’ with our true identity?

Why do so many of us suffer from Identity crisis?

In this episode, we examine roles, function, and their association with the world of form.

Examples of external form in the Biblical narrative include:

The Israelite Temple – an external form whose function was tied to God. Identity in this form is where God was seen as separate (in the Holy of Holies).

The Land – Boundaries determined where Israel settled as a nation; the land was divided into parcels for each of the twelve tribes.

Boundaries are the source of all the conflict we are experiencing in the world today: Spiritual, Religious and Political.

Examples of Internal forms include:

  • Our beliefs
  • Our dogmas
  • Our world views

Form is necessary tool – containing useful roles and functions – but we are not attached to form for our identity.

Spiral Dynamics and the Biblical Narrative

In this Episode we will be introducing Integral Theology, a topic that will be the basis for ongoing discussion using the model called “Spiral Dyamics”. This is a model being used in many fields such as, business, politics, world relations, finance and even sports to trace the history and evolution of human world views. We will be using Spirial Dynamics in the application of the Biblical Narrative.

You can read more about Spiral Dynamics, based on the work of Clare Graves, by Don Beck and Christopher Cowan. Don Beck used the Spiral applications in his work with Nelson Mandela as he made over 25 trips to South Africa to help to bring together people who saw themselves having different identities and different human values. The movie “Invictus” was based on his work with Mr. Mandela.

As an example of our study of the Spiral in relation to the Biblical Narrative I would first quote Paul and his understanding of the evolution of human consciousness when he said, “when I was a child I spoke as a child….” saying childhood is a necessary role and function that leads to adulthood.

Integral Theology is an All-In-All theology. Any spiritual or religious viewpoint that discriminates or marginalizes or brings about an identity of less than/more than is what we at Presence will call into question. It’s time to talk about those ‘lines in the sand’!

What are boundaries with regard to human spiritual identity? What is our source of identity?

As we move along in these podcasts the subjects of Identity, Form and Boundarieswill be key topics.

Are we experiencing a Human Identity Crisis? I believe so!
