He has been an artist’s artist, and one of the most revered musician of the past two decades. Tonight we say a sad goodbye to guitarist and vocalist Nick Colionne, who reportedly died in his sleep early this morning.

The Chicago native began playing guitar as a pre-teen, and by his mid-teens was known as a rising star around town. As a high schooler, he was already recording with such luminaries as Curtis Mayfield and The Staple Singers.

Colionne began recording solo in the mid-90s, and by the turn of the century, he established himself as one of the brightest young stars on the jazz scene. His hit “High Flyin’” was the foundation of his 2003 breakout album Just Come In and began a string of hit songs and popular albums such as Keepin’ It Cool, No Limits, Influences, and his most recent disc, Finger Painting.

A commercial and critical favorite, Colionne was known for his dapper attire that made him a familiar sight at jazz cruises and festivals. He was also known for his community service in the Chicago area, particularly in mentoring students at St. Laurence K-8 School in Elgin, Illinois. His varied community work was recognized when he won the Wayman Tisdale Humanitarian Award in 2010.

The sudden loss of this great artist and humanitarian is an awful way to start 2022. We will be praying for his family, even as we reflect on his great contributions. Rest in peace, Nick.

Aneessa kicked off her stateside debut with a winning cover of Soul II Soul’s 1989 anthem, “Back to Life,” which has cracked the Top 10 of Billboard Magazine’s “Smooth Jazz” chart. In a similar thematic vein is Aneessa’s cover of Madonna’s “Miles Away” which she relates to so deeply for its message of a long-distance relationship. Aneessa and Michael wrote “Just to Be with You” about their relationship when love was blooming yet they were so far away from each other, leading to her coming to visit…and never return home.

Most interesting is the song “Satisfied” which, ironically, was written by Michael and his first wife, Brenda. Their daughter Tiffany remembered the unreleased song and suggested it as perfect for Aneessa to sing. Real love, maturity, and acceptance don’t get any deeper than that.

Marcus Anderson’s thirteenth album “HERO” features thirteen original compositions, which is the quintessential soundtrack of our lives with a common thread of inspiration, perseverance, passion, and resilience. A new-age fusion jazz artist, Anderson’s music – as well as his message- is even more powerful and poignant in the current political, environmental and social climate of this nation and world.

HERO takes the listener on a musical journey through themes of light and darkness and the quest for meaning in an often-chaotic world. Melding a wide range of musical styles with a natural grace, HERO evokes, but never imitates, the many legendary artists that have influenced Anderson’s compositions.

“Just a Taste” featuring Tim Bowman offers a soft and slowly deepening funky vibe with darting sax lines while Tim’s melodic smooth approach brings the song on home.

There are only a few established artists who are capable of reinventing themselves and jazz guitarist and Billboard chart-topper U-Nam is certainly one of them.  As if to prove it he will release the genre-busting “U-Nam Goes Big Band”, 03/27/2020, on the Skytown Records label.

“U-Nam Goes Big Band”, a sumptuous eleven-track rendering of sophisticated mood jazz, is made even more enticing by the amazing back-story that first put it on U-Nam’s radar. A phone call to his Los Angeles studio from Estonian producer Mikk Targo is all it took. Targo, CEO and Founder of the Estonian Author Society EAU had, for the past several years, been working with a panel of music industry experts to select from what was generally regarded as the best one hundred songs Estonia has ever produced. As they did so a body of work emerged that was not only a glimpse into the nation’s musical heritage but also an outstanding showcase for the renowned Lutz Krajenski Big Band.

Coming off the back of a scintillating 2019 that saw him enjoy huge chart success with his 2 sensational albums “Future Love Parts 1 and 2” (that reached #20 on the Top25 Billboard Jazz Best Selling Album Chart and #8 in the Contemporary Jazz category) this is an exciting new direction for U-Nam to take but, with nine Top30 Billboard radio hits already to his name and an approach recognized as always innovative and often daring, his reputation for shaking the musical world to its core is already firmly in place.

Through his three prior Mack Avenue Music Group releases and his attention-grabbing work with the likes of Christian McBride, Bobby Watson, Karriem Riggins, Jeremy Pelt, and the SFJAZZ Collective, Warren Wolf has established himself as the foremost straight-ahead vibraphonist of his generation, a bop torchbearer well equipped to carry the mantle of forebears like Bobby Hutcherson and Milt Jackson.

On his latest album, Warren Wolf reveals an entirely different side to his multi-faceted talents. As the title implies, Reincarnation represents a rebirth of sorts for the Baltimore vibes man. In part, it frees Wolf to indulge his love for the R&B and soul hits that served as the soundtrack to his formative years in the 1990s. It’s also a celebration of a new lease on life, happiness, and contentment that he’s discovered through a new marriage and his five beloved children.

Guitarist David P. Stevens is back with a KILLER new five-track EP called Vibrations.  Not only is playing the guitar but singing his ass off on the tracks "Natural" w/Latoya London and soloing on "I Just Can't Wait."

Keivu Knox of Soultracks.com wrote:

"David P Stevens has crafted a successful six-album run in his career to date, and as number seven is set for a release later this month, the artist known as “Mr. Guitar” may find himself with a new nickname, “Mr.Voice.”  The new single, entitled “Natural,” is a romantic duet with former American Idol finalist and vocal powerhouse, Latoya London.  David more than holds his own vocally on the track, which talks of a love that is “beautiful and made to be.”

The vocal and musical connection between Stevens and London creates a hook that is equally melodic and memorable. Fans of Stevens' guitar work should have no fear, as his solo by track's end reinforces why he has been such a sought after musician in recent years.

Vibrations, the forthcoming release from Stevens, is set for a February 14th release, and features other collaborations with artists such as Yancyy and Teri Tobin; but in the meantime, check out “Natural” and add it to your Valentine’s Day Playlist."

By and large ‘Raise The Roof’ is the ‘Ronny Smith Show’ front back and center.  Not only does he play guitar, keys, and bass throughout he also arranges, produces and programs all ten tunes. Eight of these are original compositions cleverly complemented by the addition of two immaculately crafted covers.  The first is an edgy interpretation of the Bill Withers classic ‘Use Me’ with the second being a classy re-imagining of the Carpenters blockbuster ‘Superstar’.  Truth to tell he makes both sound brand new and when (for the only time) he calls upon the input of a supporting artist it is Scott Martin on sax that adds another dimension to the easy grooving ‘Cool Breeze’.

The first single to be serviced to radio is ‘Me Time’ that demonstrates the innate feel Smith has for understated yet compelling smooth jazz.  Much the same can be said of the warmly inviting ‘On It’ for which he certainly is and although ‘Brazilian Dancer’ proves to be a supercharged Latin extravaganza Smith is able to channel that same energy into the foot-tapping, in the pocket ‘Breaded Funk Well Done’.

Another number that really fizzes is the high-octane title cut.  The perfect vehicle for Smith’s virtuosity, it is in the good company of the moodily delicious ‘Brighter Day’ and a blues-tinged rendition of ‘Say It Again’ where Smith’s interlude on bass guitar is something to savor.

‘Raise The Roof’ is a fantastic way to become acquainted with Ronny Smith’s special vibe.  It is due out on January 27, 2020, and is not to be missed.

JWhite debuted as a solo artist with the 2012 album “New Jazz Swagger: Reloaded.” His sax play is a swirl of modern jazz with straight-ahead jazz references, emoting rich melodies and lush harmonic passes atop sensual R&B tracks. Competing at the Warren Hill Sax Summit in 2013 helped him win slots to perform at the San Diego Jazz Festival, Las Vegas Jazz Festival, Arizona Jazz Festival and Jazz at the Creek. He’s also played club dates from coast to coast. In 2015, JWhite dropped the “Grit and Glamour” EP, an outing that strayed from his jazz base. “Fearless” is a purposeful return to his muse.

A seasoned core of hitmakers teamed with JWhite to create the EP. Drummer Eric Valentine and bassist Nathaniel Kearney form a deep-pocketed rhythm section on the opening cut, “Valley of the Sun,” which bodes to be the second single. Keyboardist Gail Jhonson pours the soul of her Philly roots into the three tunes she cowrote and coproduced for the set – “Mr. NuGroove,” “Morning Rain” and “90’s Kinda Love” - the last of which features supple basslines from chart-topper Darryl Williams. Guitarist Matt Godina was JWhite’s co-writer and co-producer on “Soiree.” “Just Ride” is the only solo trek on the disc. (Source: Great Scott Productions)

The lovely Nigerian songbird we know as Douyé has decided to take an off-ramp from the highway of smooth/contemporary jazz and lend her delicious vocals to the world of bossa nova/samba with a touch of straight-ahead jazz leanings. Following the path that a few other c-jazz artists have taken (Patti Austin comes to mind), the songstress, through this latest album Quatro (Bossa Nova Deluxe), demonstrates that she is by no means boxed in by any genre and wishes to spread her wings and soar to new horizons.

While some may be a bit disappointed that Douyé is not seducing us with her silky smooth jazz/R&B grooves with this release, they should find that the material here warrants a listen. If you allow yourself to mentally go to Rio or some sun-kissed island while listening to this project, you’ll find its lure quite apropos and soothing.

The all-present, polished, sauntering vibe that dances between a lazy cadence and one with bounce holds the promise of being able to wash over you and offer a much-appreciated release.

Offering tracks like “Blue Bossa,” “Triste,” “How Insensitive,” the more up-tempo “Agua De Beber,” her glistening cover of the classic “Girl From Ipanema,” and others clearly demonstrate Douyé’s penchant for eclecticism and her ability to grasp and relate to the various flavors of jazz and other exotic music.

All in all, this transition is a pleasant one and, while it doesn’t come without some surprise for those expecting the smooth jazz/R&B Douyé, it does come with the elegance and class we’ve come to know as a signature trademark of the songtress’ projects. Her seductive voice alone is always such a persuasive factor. Well done. — Ronald Jackson

Born and raised in Houston TX, Chris Walker began singing before he began speaking. He got his start in the church as a member of his family gospel group, The Walker Brothers.  Chris plays the bass upside down like one of his early hero’s Jimi Hendrix. The Walker’s raised their children with a strong hand, and once Chris graduated from the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Houston, he was all too happy to high-tail it to New York, with only forty dollars, in pursuit of his dreams of doing his own music. With aspirations of attending the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, he sold his bass amp and bought a one-way ticket to New York; despite being denied due to inability to pay the tuition. Fate, however, would intervene as Walker was walking the halls and happened to come upon a jam session in need of a bass player. When he took the stage the school dean just so happened to hear him and offered him a full scholarship on the spot and so begun another chapter in his musical journey.

As a student and lover of jazz music, it was an opportunity that came via a former teacher, Gil Goldstein, that would bring to fruition a longtime dream of Walker to work, as Musical Director, with seven-time Grammy Award winner Al Jarreau.  In honor of the late Mr. Jarreau, Chris Walker has released a new cd: We're In This Love Together: Celebrating Al Jarreau.

In possession of a most impressive resume as a performing artist, educator, songwriter, producer, support vocalist and musical theater actress, her reputation and level of respect are top shelf and unimpeachable. However, Washington, D.C.-native Lori is electing to let her hair down to pursue a more relaxed passion path in the realms of the Quiet Storm and R&B-leaning Soul-Jazz. Kicking off this current (and surely to evolve) direction is a special double-A-sided single “I Like the Way You Talk to Me” (which she co-wrote with prolific contemporary jazz producer/keyboardist Bob Baldwin) banded with a tasty remix edit of her recent cover of the Isaac Hayes gem “Déjà vu” (made famous in 1979 by Dionne Warwick). October 3, 2017, he may have made his name playing as part of the James Brown band, but trumpeter Willie Bradley has become a go-to musician for many of soul music’s greats over the years.

Willie is readying his new CD, Going With the Flow, and it promises to be a smooth winner. To put a sharper point on that, the first single from the album is out, and it is terrific. Featuring Manhattans lead singer and longtime SoulTracks fave Gerald Alston, “In the Meantime” is a cool midtempo number that borders soul and jazz and that has a positive message of living in harmony at a time of an awful lot of confusion in the world.

"This is a distinctly full-bodied, very brassy, well-produced effort that further illuminates this trumpeter who obviously puts his all into what he presents here. Take it to the bank that this is – at the very least — as satisfying as his previous project. A two-thumbs-up album." – Ronald Jackson, The Smooth Jazz Ride.

As an ambitious kid growing up in the Stowe Village housing project in Hartford, Connecticut, Rahni was greatly affected by the musical influence of his parents. “Our house always had music playing! Day and night! It was a way of life for me!” Years ago in a small room in the back of the house, his dream began. Wires, microphones and tape recorders everywhere.  Hanging on the wall was a spray-painted replica of a gold album. Music staff paper covered the floor as an electric piano sat in the middle of the room.  He looks at the painted gold record and says “One day that thing on the wall is going to be the real thing!”  As a teen, Rahni would sit obsessively for hours taking in the magic of his musical role models. He was very picky about who he listened to. From the pioneering Gospel music genius of Myrna Summers and Henry Jackson to the jazz, r&b, and funk of Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, Bernard Purdie, Chuck Rainey, and the arrangements of Thom Bell, Gene Page, Quincy Jones and Henry Mancini.

Throughout his many years as a producer, musician, and recording engineer, he has kept his finger on the pulse of the ever-changing music industry and its numerous trends, without missing a beat! From Funk, R&B, and Hip-Hop to Classical, Pop, Rock, and Jazz! Unlike the predictability of many producers of today, Rahni is a true music chameleon.

"The Essential Collection” released August 28 on the Skytown Records label, with eight (yes eight) Top 30 US Billboard hits amongst the fifteen standout tracks this is less a retrospective and more a joyous celebration of the high octane guitar driven smooth jazz that has been U-Nam’s calling card ever since 2007 and the release of his critically acclaimed breakthrough album ”Back from the 80’s.” Not only that, and as if to underscore the fact that this is far more than simply a “best of” collection, U-Nam includes two brand new songs. Both feature input from up and coming keyboard player (and label mate) Mattias Roos and the first of them, “Let the Music Play” finds U-Nam making use of full orchestral backing to tip a hat to the legendary Barry White (with whom U-Nam has worked).

In essence “The Essential Collection” shines an intricate spotlight on U-Nam’s discography to reveal a body of work that has entirely stood the test of time. A case in point is “Back from the 80’s” and how the three numbers selected from it, the opulent “Breezin M.A”, “Keep the Faith” and the #1 hit, a cover of the Crusaders classic “Street Life” all sound as relevant as they did ten years ago. Together they provide “The Essential Collection” with a foundation from which U-Nam sensationally builds, first by plundering four choice tunes from his wonderful 2016 recording “Surface Level”,  and then by taking four more from his 2014 project “C’est Le Funk”.  The tapestry of U-Nam’s musical life is completed by his take on George Benson’s “Love X Love” from the “Weekend in LA” CD and “Shine On” from his 2009 release “Unamimity”.

True to its title, the Cleveland based performer’s independent debut album Road Trip chronicles his multi-faceted journey – starting with playing the sax in church and, over the past decade, founding and leading The Cavor Project, an 11 piece ensemble renowned as one of the most diverse bands in the city. Andre Cavor found the perfect producer to take his artistry to the next level in Darren Rahn, a saxophonist and artist who has worked his studio magic for Whalum and Butler in addition to genre greats Dave Koz, Wayman Tisdale, Najee, Eric Darius, Jeffrey Osborne and Jeff Lorber.

The collection includes three original tracks penned by Darren Rahn (“Road Trip,” “Say Something” and “Without A Doubt”), powerhouse covers of Adele’s “Hello” and After 7’s late 80’s smash “Ready or Not,” and five of Andre’s favorite all time gospel tunes – “More Than Anything,” “For Your Glory” (featuring background vocals), “Total Praise,” The Clark Sisters classic “You Brought the Sunshine” and “Heaven,” originally recorded by BeBe and CeCe Winans.

“Mixing contemporary jazz and gospel songs on Road Trip felt like a natural extension of my many live performances over the years,” says Andre, who first began playing the sax at 16 but let it go during his eight year stint in the army before rediscovering it in the early 2000s.

Faced with the obstacles of sexism, racism, social norms and the mere physicality of the instrument, very few African American women in history have been recorded playing jazz trumpet. Undaunted by such obstacles, in 2010, as a newly divorced mom of two, Charmaine Michelle set out to pursue her dream of becoming a jazz trumpeter. Even though she hadn’t played trumpet in 10 years, since she was already suffering from the loss of her family, she felt she had nothing to lose by auditioning for the jazz program at the prestigious Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Maryland.  On her 39th birthday, July 4, 2017, with many of her friends who have supported her audacious musical journey, Charmaine Michelle makes her courageous recording debut as a band leader featuring some of her favorite jazz ballads. Nobody knows trumpet quite like Harold Little. That's because the DC area musician doesn't see it as just an instrument – it's literally part of who he is, an extension of his personality. Anyone who's seen him play will tell you that he's got a fingertip feel for embouchure and valves. So it's no surprise that he's played with legends like Chuck Brown, Butch Warren, Buck Hill, Eddie Gladden and Calvin Jones. Now with his new band and album, Akoben, scheduled for release on Aug. 11th, that fuses jazz, funk and R&B, Harold is here to show that a Little goes a long way.

Ronald Jackson of The Smooth Jazz Ride said about Akoben: "This exotic and eclectic blend of material is vibrant, colorful, and smoothly melodic. It breathes and moves to its own vibe and brings the listener along for an experience-filled ride that should be quite difficult to forget. There is a solid uniqueness to its groove and texture. In a word, it has personality."

Keyboardist/pianist Roberto Vazquez returns with a project, Matices, that is so smooth and exotic that it dares you to turn your ears away from its warm appeal.

This project offers a touch of diversity and lots of charm. It also offers yet another look into the soul of Vazquez’s music. The different moods, styles, and melodies set you on a journey into the vast and colorful world of jazz music in all of its fine variations. While I personally still favor his previous Between Two Worlds release, this latest recording is a clear demonstration of the skill and polish that Vazquez offers his listeners with his choice of music. Aside from the lead track, this is an easy album; easy on the ears, easy on the soul, easy on the cadence, and easy in its approach – all the while maintaining a firm grip on melody. These all point to an artist who truly knew where he wanted to take his project. For smooth jazzers, this is a trip worth taking. – Ronald Jackson, The Smooth Jazz Ride.

Ragan Whiteside, the flautist-singer who catches the ear like few in the world of contemporary jazz can, is getting ready to make waves this May 12th with her fourth studio album, Treblemaker.

A favorite of well-known stages such as Capital Jazz, Whiteside’s sound brings to mind the stylings of Najee and Dave Valentin. The preceding album, Quantum Drive, has received major airplay and acclaim by such publications as Jazz In M.E.E., and was described as “an enchanting and vibrant album” by Hans-Bernd Hülsmann of smooth-jazz.de. As its successor, Treblemaker promises a further expanse of Whiteside’s variety and style. Frank McComb, Kim Waters, Marion Meadows, and Tom Browne make their appearances on the album to lend their touch to a well-seasoned musical mix.

Whiteside is not one to shy away from shaking up expectations. In contemporary jazz, where there is always a thirst for fresh material, she steps up and delivers, both in studio recording and on live stage. “Her tenacity makes her a force to be reckoned with. Mark my words!” said Bob Baldwin of her once, and this tenacity is obvious at every show and in every track. “We need new music!” the fans say, and Ragan Whiteside is always up to deliver exactly what they ask for. Still a New Yorker at her core and in her every note, Ragan Whiteside brings no shortage of sound to shake up some perceptions of what a flute – and a jazz artist – can do. Indiana producer, singer/songwriter and performer, Ty Causey appeared on the music scene in the late 1990’S as a vocalist for smooth jazz saxophonist Najee. Causey co-wrote and performed on Najee’s 1998 Morning Tenderness CD; which landed him the opportunity as the featured performer on Najee’s world-wide tour. The music style of Causey is a combination of smooth jazz, sensual classic soul and R&B. Ty’s silky smooth vocals and deep lyrics compliment the soulful melodic production of his music. This style of music has been very challenging for Ty due to the upswing of other styles of music such as Hip Hop and Neo Soul, but his passion for classic R&B andfJazz has inspired him to stay true to himself and the music lovers who crave the same classic R&B, soul and jazz. Tyangles is Causey's newest and 8th solo project.

Justin Young began playing professionally at the age of 16. But his passion for music started practically at birth.

In 2007, after several years of playing with other musicians, Justin Young released his debut album, “On The Way.” As a new artist, he recruited Paul Brown to mix the album, as well as a talented team of musicians. He rose into the smooth jazz world by obtaining radio spins from respected jazz radio stations across the country.

With his 2008 releases “Nothin’ But Love” and “Home for the Holidays”, Justin enjoyed airplay from The Weather Channel and Delta Airlines along with radio stations across the U.S. Since then, Justin has become a budding new star waiting to be launched into commercial success.

After taking time off to get his MBA, Justin is back with a brand new album called Blue Soul.  Blue Soul is all about getting back to the basics of real instruments, analog equipment and unique saxophone rhythms.  Live musicians performed in the recording studio which gives the songs a distinct uniqueness. No sequencers were used in the making of this album adding to the realness of music. The songs have a lot of raw feel and emotion without the aid of a computer changing the rhythm. The melodies on the saxophone have an undeniable old school feel with a unique twist of Gospel, Funk and R&B.

Soloing with a wild abandon he’s been holding back way too long, the longtime Benedetto endorsee introduces us to the latest love of his musical life, his new, gorgeous white Bambino archtop jazz guitar. Perfect combination? Sounds like a perfect Ten.

Talking Smooth Jazz welcomes the founders of 3rd Force, William Aura and Craig Dobbin to talk about their new release, Global Force.  Ronald Jackson from The Smooth Jazz Ride said about Global Force:  From start to finish, there is so much to love about this album: "The melodies, the rhythms, the sense of a phat, “whole,” sound, and of course, the skill and effort put into it all. Horns blaze brightly (saxman Derrick Edmondson and trumpeter/trombonist Mitch Mannker clearly bring their “A” game), keyboards and piano sing eloquently and with feeling, the flute calls ever so sweetly, and guitars guide us through the becoming collage. The entire project is just so alive."  Read the full review at The Smooth Jazz Ride.

For Jesse Cook, music has been a journey. Sonically and literally.  His new release, One World, begins another chapter in the multi-tasking artist, composer and producer’s quest. His destination: The digital realm. To create the disc’s emotive melodies, fluid grooves and rich sonic tapestries, he incorporated technology more than ever before.

The Paris-born, Toronto-raised Cook himself is a product of cross pollination and his guitar compositions incorporate rumba, gypsy, flamenco, Latin, Afro-Cuban, jazz and classical motifs into multicultural amalgams. On previous discs, Cook traveled extensively and recorded in disparate locales in order to foster authenticity. However, on “One World,” he opted to sonically explore far-reaching lands from his home studio while incorporating more modern technology and electronics than ever harnessed on past ventures. Cook’s alluring guitar prowess remains the focal point - expressive, poetic, evocative and emotionally stirring.

Here she is once again dancing the funk right off everyone’s dancing shoes: saxtress Paula Atherton. The lady has a new label (Maurice White’s Kalimba Music), some slammin’ contributions from one of the coolest guitarist around, Nick Colionne, lovely trumpeter Cindy Bradley, and the wonderfully talented, equally lovely keyboardist Gail Jhonson. Couple that with that same seductive, crystal clear vocal style that has brought her this far and an album of all new, all original material – Ear Candy — and I think we can look for a chart topper here.

This release marks her fourth, and each just seems to take the listener a little bit farther into the fascinating sound-rich world of this now so well-defined saxtress. That her fortunes are blossoming so well (new label, notable luminaries signing on to contribute) only further proves her to be more than ready to share the upper rungs of that wonderful c-jazz ladder. It is also evident that her style and material are irresistibly charming. Ear Candy …mmm, mmm good. – Ronald Jackson, The Smooth Jazz Ride.

One of the most stylish and creative lead bassists of this wonderful time in C-jazz is the rising star Julian Vaughn whose fluid bass runs and compositions always seem to hit that special nerve in you that’s reserved for the smooth groove. Here on his latest released,Limitless, he continues to serve it up in abundance.

Bringing in a few luminaries from his Trippin N Rhythm/Cutmore Records family (saxmen Lebron and Darren Rahn, keyboardist Nicholas Cole, and flutist Althea Rene) along with saxmen Marcus Anderson and Elan Trotman, the bassist loads up with heavy grooves and romantic seductions.

The up-tempo but easy ridin’ lead track “Ride Along” firmly complements tracks like the energetic “Initiate” and calls a cool timeout for the fluid entrance of the more laid back romance-laden offering “All to Myself” and the mid-tempo R&Bish “Ecstacy.”

Vaughn’s wonderful tribute to the late great Wayman Tisdale shows how much of an impact the jovial and greatly talented Tisdale had on Vaughan.

We all love a great up-tempo jam, and Vaughn certainly offers his share here, but his skill with crafting slow- to mid-tempo tracks with tons of melody like the previously mentioned “All to Myself,” “I Will,” and “Say Yes” is equally as powerful and full of charm.

Here is a bassist who is doing it the right way…feeling the genre and the groove and how it moves him and his music to always strive for excellence. As the album title could imply, his potential is truly Limitless. – Ronald Jackson, The Smooth Jazz Ride.

U-Nam returns with a brand new project, C'est Le Funk.  Brent Black from criticaljazz.com said about C'est Le Funk, "For the artists that walk the smoother side of the improvisational street, the groove has remained stagnant for over a decade. The differences between most artists can be measured with a sheet of paper. U/Nam's C'est Le Funk pushes the music forward and drops a groove bomb of flavor and lyrical flow that most artists are still struggling to find. These are old school vibes dusted off with a new cool funk full of attitude and a technical proficiency to match. While there is an obvious George Benson like influence, U/Nam channels this pioneering sound into his own unique presentation. Simply put, no other contemporary artist sounds like U/Nam!"
