What happens when you take a book of testimonies about leaving homosexuality into the California State Capitol to fight a bill that would have made that book illegal to sell?

In Episode 119, Part 2 of Healing and Made Free, Janet Boynes continues her conversation with Elizabeth Woning — co-founder of the Changed Movement and minister at Bethel Church in Redding, California — now in the territory where testimony meets legislation, free speech meets the Supreme Court, and Christian ministry meets political reality.

Elizabeth and her co-founder Ken Williams launched the Changed Movement in 2018 specifically to fight California's expanded conversion therapy ban — a bill framed as consumer fraud that would have made it illegal to charge a fee for any conference, resource, or counseling that offered a path out of homosexuality. They showed up in Sacramento. They shared their testimonies in committee hearings. They published a coffee table book of changed lives — the exact kind of resource the bill would have banned. And the bill was ultimately withdrawn.

That fight led to a Supreme Court case. Kaylee Chiles sued the state of Colorado for the right to offer trauma-informed care to clients whose gender confusion she believed was rooted in childhood trauma. That case has now been heard by the Supreme Court, and Elizabeth believes it will overturn conversion therapy bans nationwide — with implications for countries around the world.

In this conversation you will hear:

  • How the Changed Movement started — and what they were fighting against in the California Capitol

  • Why a conversion therapy ban is fundamentally a free speech issue, not a safety issue

  • The Chiles v. Colorado Supreme Court case — what it means and why Elizabeth believes it will win

  • Why 23 states currently prohibit licensed counselors from offering any care that affirms a biblical sexual ethic

  • The political reality of why Republicans won't address homosexuality — and what Christian advocates are doing about it

  • Elizabeth's analysis of LGBT as a political movement laced with identity Marxism — and why that framing matters

  • Why 29% of Gen Z now identifies as something within LGBT according to Gallup — and what's really driving it

  • How Charlie Kirk's death affected the Changed Movement and their relationship with Turning Point USA

  • Why Elizabeth made the Changed Movement's church equipping curriculum free after his assassination

  • A closing word: why right now is actually a window of opportunity, not a moment of defeat

If Part 1 was the theology, Part 2 is the strategy. Together they form one of the most complete conversations on the LGBT issue this podcast has produced.

What happens when a trained theologian who has fully embraced queer theology encounters the living God — through a 17-year-old boy at a Pentecostal youth service?

In Episode 118, Part 1 of Healing and Made Free, Janet Boynes sits down with Elizabeth Woning — seminary graduate, former lesbian, and ministry leader — for a conversation unlike any this podcast has featured. Elizabeth doesn't just share a testimony. She brings a framework. And pastors, parents, and ministry leaders need to hear it.

Elizabeth spent close to 20 years questioning and then fully inhabiting a lesbian identity. She left a brief marriage, came out publicly, joined a church elder board as an openly gay member, and then entered seminary actively working to push the church toward an affirming posture on homosexuality. She was not on the edge of the gay community. She was one of its theological advocates.

Then a 17-year-old boy at a Pentecostal youth service delivered a word from the Lord that spoke to a specific, private pain point in her life — something no one could have known. That moment didn't convict her of sin. It convicted her of unbelief. And that was the beginning of an 18-month journey back through Scripture, Pentecostal worship services, and eventually a surrender she didn't entirely understand — but made anyway.

In this first part of a two-part conversation, you will hear:

  • How early abuse and identity confusion led Elizabeth into lesbianism as a teenager

  • What it looked like to enter seminary openly gay and work toward a queer theology

  • The Pentecostal youth service that shattered her theological certainty

  • Why she was convicted of unbelief before she was ever convicted of sin

  • Her 18-month journey back through Scripture — and what she found

  • Why the gay community offers a level of belonging the church is still failing to match

  • What pastors are getting wrong about transgender vs. LGB — and why LGB is just as dissociative

  • What parents need to do before their child ever hears the word homosexuality

  • Why teaching children to hear the voice of God may be the most protective thing a parent can do

Part 2 continues the conversation into Elizabeth's ministry work and what she is doing today. But don't skip Part 1 — the theological foundation she lays here is what makes Part 2 make sense.

Mark Nelson was told he had AIDS and his organs were failing. 22 days in a coma later, he walked out of the hospital undetectable and engaged to be married.

What if the moment that sent you into 20 years of destruction happened at age 13 — inside a church?

In Episode 116 of Healing and Made Free, Janet Boynes sits down with Mark Nelson, co-founder of Exchange Ministries in Orlando, Florida, for one of the most dramatic healing testimonies this podcast has ever featured.

Mark grew up in an Assembly of God home, on fire for God at 11 and 12 years old, doing street evangelism with his youth group. Then at 13, a well-meaning but misguided pastor pulled him aside, accused him of being gay, performed an impromptu deliverance, and told him to "get out and don't come back."

Mark made an inner vow that night: he would never return to church. He kept that promise for 20 years — and during those years, he lived a full gay lifestyle, worked inside two presidential administrations, and eventually was told by his doctor that he had full-blown AIDS with a viral load of over 4 million copies and a CD4 count of four.

His organs were failing. Doctors told his family to say their goodbyes. His family came to the ICU and started speaking Scripture over his comatose body.

Twenty-two days later, Mark woke up. His viral load was undetectable. Eight months after leaving the hospital, he was married.

In this conversation, you will hear:

• How time with mom and distance from dad shaped Mark's identity as a boy

• The pastor's mishandled deliverance at age 13 that sent Mark out of the church for two decades

• The power of inner vows — and how they open doors for the enemy

• What life looked like working for Jeb Bush while secretly living a gay lifestyle

• Franklin Graham preaching John 3:16 — and why that day was the beginning of the end of the gay life

• The AIDS diagnosis, the failing organs, and 22 days in a coma

• What Mark experienced spiritually between life and death during that coma

• The nurse no one had seen before — and never saw again — who untied his hands from the hospital bed

• How he emerged from the coma undetectable — and married his wife eight months later

• Exchange Ministries and the work they're doing today for men and women leaving the LGBT lifestyle

This episode is for parents who are praying for a prodigal. It is for anyone who has been wounded by the church. And it is for anyone who believes their situation is too far gone for God to reach.

He reached Mark in a coma. He can reach anyone.

What happens when the pain of a broken home leads you somewhere you never expected to go?

In Episode 116 of Healing and Made Free, Janet Boynes welcomes Krissy Miles — pastor, speaker, and co-founder of Influence Church in Northern Indiana — for one of the most complete healing testimonies this podcast has ever featured.

Krissy grew up in a home defined by trauma. Her father — abused himself as a child, abandoned at 14, raised in poverty and alcoholism — brought all of that unhealed pain into their family. Krissy responded the way many children do: anger, overperformance, and eventually a desperate search for love that didn't come with strings attached.

That search led her into a lesbian relationship. It lasted less than two years — but long enough to change everything. What brought her out wasn't a program or a counselor. It was a direct, supernatural encounter with God where she was faced with one choice: this path, or me.

She chose God. And then God gave her a husband.

In this conversation you'll hear: • How generational trauma in her father's family shaped her childhood • Why she entered a lesbian relationship — and what she was really searching for • The supernatural moment God showed her exactly what was at stake • How she told her husband about her past — and what happened when they wept together • The role of forgiveness in her healing — including forgiving her abusive father • What happened when she told her father she had forgiven him • The fear that nearly destroyed her marriage at year 18 — and how God broke it • Practical wisdom for parents of Gen Z kids exploring sexuality • Her husband Lucas Miles and his work with Turning Point USA Faith

This episode is for anyone who has felt like their past has disqualified them from a whole, healed life. Krissy's story is proof that God restores what trauma broke.

What do you do when someone you love is living a gay lifestyle — and you watch them die from it?

In this raw and deeply personal episode, Janet Boynes sits down with Richard Harris, Executive Director of Truth and Liberty (an Andrew Wommack Ministries outreach), for a conversation that goes far beyond headlines and policy debates.

Richard and his twin brother John grew up in a home marked by extreme poverty, alcoholism, and an emotionally distant father. John always felt compared, rejected, and overlooked — and Richard only learned after John's death how deep that wound ran. John died of AIDS at 34, coming to faith in Christ in his final days in the hospital.

Richard and Janet — who lost her own brother to AIDS in 1999 — open up about what it means to love a gay family member without compromising God's word, and without losing them either.

In this conversation you will hear:

  • How childhood rejection and a lack of affirmation can shape sexual identity

  • What Richard wishes he had said and done differently with his brother

  • Why John stayed in the gay lifestyle even after his AIDS diagnosis — and what finally changed

  • How loneliness drives people into and keeps them in homosexuality

  • The conversion therapy ban in Colorado and what was at stake at the Supreme Court

  • How Truth and Liberty responded to the assassination of Charlie Kirk — including snipers on the roof

  • A closing word of encouragement for anyone struggling with same-sex attraction

This is the kind of honest, compassionate conversation the church desperately needs to have. Whether you have a family member living a gay lifestyle, or you are personally wrestling with same-sex attraction, this episode will meet you with truth and love.

What does it look like to stand for biblical truth in a country that legalized same-sex marriage before almost anywhere else in the world?

In this episode of Healing and Made Free, Janet Boynes sits down with Eelko Sieval, a Dutch Christian, entrepreneur, and newly appointed board member of Janet Boynes Ministries. Eelko joins us from the Netherlands — the first country in the world to legalize same-sex marriage in 2001 — to share his powerful perspective on how Christians can respond to LGBTQ+ cultural pressure with both truth and love.

Eelko opens up about his personal faith revival in 2020, how he found Janet's ministry through an online search for biblical answers on homosexuality, and what compelled him to translate Janet's book "Called Out" into Dutch so it could reach his community.

Together, Janet and Eelko tackle some of the most honest questions Christian families are facing today:

  • How do you love a family member living a gay lifestyle without endorsing it?

  • How do you protect your grandchildren at family gatherings without rejecting your family?

  • What does "compassion without compromise" actually look like in everyday life?

  • How do you maintain spiritual authority in your home when culture pushes back?

Eelko also shares why he said yes to joining the ministry board, his vision for bringing Janet's 2026 conference to the Netherlands, and how the legacy of Charlie Kirk's life has renewed his commitment to speak truth fearlessly.

Whether you're a pastor, a parent, a grandparent, or simply a believer trying to navigate one of the defining cultural issues of our time — this conversation will challenge and encourage you.

In this deeply moving episode of Healing and Made Free, Janet Boynes sits down with her longtime friend Melissa Richman — a mother, business owner, and woman of faith from the Twin Cities — for an honest, heartfelt conversation about love, loss, grief, and the faithfulness of God.

Melissa shares the story of her marriage to Matt Richman — a healthy, faith-filled, 37-year-old pharmaceutical executive — and the shock of hearing the words "stage four colon cancer" during what should have been a routine lab check. Over the next three and a half years, Melissa and Matt fought together, celebrated a year of no evidence of disease, and watched it come back with a vengeance. In February 2020 — two weeks before the world shut down for a pandemic — Matt passed away. He left behind Melissa and their three young children, ages five, six, and seven.

Melissa opens up about the devastating first year of widowhood: the numbness, the isolation, the moment she prayed God would take her too, and the slow, painful journey back to healing. She talks about the power of wise counsel and therapy, allowing safe people to love her and her children, and how God — even in the deepest suffering — was never far away.

What is “the truth in love”? What is “compassion without compromise”? Janet talks with Richard Harris from Truth and Liberty Coalition.
