Well my dear friends, the time has come. It's our very last Awesome Overflow, created just for you Super Stars as we say goodbye to Sorta Awesome.
The tone of our conversation is quintessential Sorta Awesome in all of its glory - we cover everything from the Awesomes of the Week we had been stockpiling to reading smut in public without hesitation to some very, VERY raw and vulnerable revelations about faith and religion. There is a LOT packed into this last conversation with you.
Thank you for letting us trust our words to you about anything and everything. Thank you for letting us trust our hearts to you, and for you trusting your hearts to us!
We very much could not have done this work without you.
Sending ALL my love,
Meg

Hi Super Stars! Just a quick note from me to let you know that we have one more episode of Sorta Awesome which will drop this coming Friday, December 22nd. After that, there will be ONE last Overflow episode, and that will come out next week, December 26th.
Initially, we had said that the Patreon would close on December 31st, however, as a courtesy to you and an acknowledgment of the chaos of this time of year, we've decided to keep the Super Stars Patreon open through January 31st, 2024. This way, you have plenty of time to listen to the last Overflow and download any episodes you might want.
TIME SENSITIVE: If you do not manually cancel your subscription to Sorta Awesome Patreon, you will be charged as usual for January 2024. So if you do not want to be charged for January 2024, please cancel your subscription to Sorta Awesome via Patreon before DECEMBER 31, 2023.
Otherwise, all remaining subscriptions WILL END on January 31, 2024 when we close the Sorta Awesome Patreon.
Please let me know if you have questions!

What happens when all those Purity Culture kids from the 90s and early 2000s grow up and get married? Well, one thing that we discovered is that a bunch of books were published to “help” us understand sex and marriage. Turns out, some of them were … not so helpful. Meg and Rebekah are here to discuss.

Welcome to the Awesome Overflow for September 2023, and friends. You better buckle up.
Rebekah and I decided to ask each other some of the questions we didn't get to for Sorta Awesome episode 459 "What was the last ...?" As it turns out, we live in wildly different worlds when it comes to the number of underwear each of us currently have in rotation, and we NEED to know which one of us is weird. Later, Rebekah reveals to me a genre of spicy reading that left me genuinely speechless (and clutching all of my pearls).
ANYWAY THANKS FOR LISTENING!
And as always, thanks for being a Super Star!

Meg and Rebekah had SO MANY WORDS for this conversation that we had to trim it waaaaaay down, BUT! The full-length ad-free version is available right now for all Super Star Awesomes over on Patreon! Not a Super Star yet? Today is a great day to become one!
Friends, what was the last … time you cried in public? felt embarrassed? laughed until you cried? Meg and Rebekah dig into each other’s personal lives by asking each other about all the lasts, and it takes them in some unexpected places!

Surprise! Actually, TWO surprises today, Super Stars! First of all, hello Thursday release of this week's Sorta Awesome! Secondly, this ad-free and UNCUT version of Episode 420 is going out to all Super Stars! Our Very Super Stars who support the show at $10/month get ad-free episodes every Friday, but this one is a LOT, and it includes a three minute section starting at the 53:20 mark that is too spicy for the regular Sorta Awesome feed. We knew that all the Super Stars would want to hear this part of the conversation that will be edited from the regular show feed. ENJOY!
Raise your hand if you’d like to take a little break from all things holiday, and go deeeeep into some fascinating topics with Meg and Rebekah! You know how sometimes, you just get totally into a subject and the next thing you know, you are chatting up strangers at the grocery store with all of your newfound knowledge? Well, that’s Meg and Rebekah this week, except instead of bothering strangers, they are bringing the Awesomes along for the dive! From movie magic to YouTube concert footage to viral frustrations to what TikTok gets wrong about feminism, they have a LOT of words about what they can’t stop thinking about these days!

Helloooooo Super Stars! No need to check your calendar, you aren't wrong. September 2022 is in the books, and our Awesome Overflow is running a little late! However, I think you'll find it to be worth the wait because I got Rebekah to sit down with me and give me the WHOLE ENTIRE SCOOP on her recent trip to Austin for Harry Styles, a proper film, surprising sounds, and more!
We know not many of our Super Stars are fans of Harry Styles on a REBEKAH-level, however, a lot of our conversation touches on things that are fundamental to the Awesome ethos: finding community, seeking out joy, and loving what you love.
I know you'll love this tardy-to-the-party edition of Awesome Overflow! Make sure to join us in the Super Star Facebook group and make sure you have signed up to text with us: +1 (405) 251-8330

Grab a copy of the book and get ready for a September conversation about how this book speaks to all the reasons we might stop loving what we love, and how we can chase down our desires (however quirky they might be!) and tap into pure joy.

Hey Super Stars! As we wrap up the (longest) month of March, Rebekah and I sat down to debrief about all the behind-the-scenes stuff of life lately! Rebekah has a Harry Styles update for us as well as an incredible list of romance novels she's going to check out on Kindle Unlimited. I share an interesting teens and social media situation that led both of us to ponder if there's any space online that can be private for us. Content warning: towards the end of our conversation, I speak a little more candidly about my mother's death this month. I wanted to give you the heads-up before you listen in case you aren't in a good space to hear some real-time processing of grief right now.
On that note, I really cannot express adequately enough how much the ongoing support of our Awesome community -- and you Super Stars specifically - has meant through this incredibly difficult time. You all are game-changers, just in your very presence, and I am wildly fortunate and deeply grateful for your presence in our community.
Happy spring everyone!

Hey hey, Super Stars! Here we are, just a leetle bit late with your Awesome Overflow for January 2022. Rebekah and I are (mostly) recovering from our rounds with COVID, and we've got a few things we wanna talk about with you! Rebekah reveals the pop culture headline that has stunned her (even if it's a few months after the rest of us found out), and I've got some thoughts on reading romance with a feminist view. I also talk about the best teen birthday party ever!

Super Stars! We made a spicy little reading challenge for you if you want to have a little fun with your reading in the year ahead!
As we recorded Rebekah's Spicy Romance novels PART TWO for the Sorta Spicy series, the two of us came us with the idea of doing a reading challenge based on the many (many) tropes we find in the romance genre. Rebekah went to work on it, and we came up with a plan: from the list of 30 tropes on this list, try to mark off 22 that you discover or seek out in your romance reading in 2022.
As Rebekah explains in this little minisode. some books may have two, three, or even more tropes happening within the plot, so you can definitely knock off a few at a time from this list! Or if you really want to challenge yourself, count just one book per trope and see how hot 2022 can be for you. ;)
When you click on these links, you should be able to open the files in Dropbox. From there, you should be able to download the file (PDF or image) to whatever device you want. OR you can just write the tropes down in your bullet journal, reading journal, or wherever you keep track of your reading challenges.

Happy reading, Super Stars! We can't wait to see what we discover this year!

Hi Super Stars! The November 2021 Awesome Overflow is here, and I think you'll agree it's WAY better late than never!
You may have noticed I haven't been around quite as much as I would like to be recently. My dad went into the hospital on November 18th and he is still there. He underwent major surgery and things have been extremely fragile with his recovery. As many of you may recall, my mom has very advanced MS and is disabled, so I've also been overseeing and helping with her care in the time that my dad has been away.
When Kelly and Rebekah offered to do the November edition of Overflow, I actually ignored my Eldest Daughter Syndrome that causes help-resistance and took them up on it!
They catch up on life and answer questions from the Super Stars, and I know you are going to love this one.
Remember you can always chat with us in the Super Star Facebook group and by joining our Super Star Texting Crew: +1 (405) 251-8330

The Sorta Spicy series continues with this newest episode featuring my conversation with our books & reading regular Katie Proctor! You know when Katie is on Sorta Awesome, we are going to get some awesome recommendations, and this conversation is no different. Katie and I both have gone through a deconstruction of faith over the years, and though we were reading different books at different times, we discover that many of the same authors and topics really shaped what we've come to understand about shared Christian faith. Of course, we both definitely lean Progressive, but we know that many of our Super Stars have gone through similar journeys of evolving beliefs when it comes to religious faith, even if your path lands somewhere different from ours.
Talking about something as personal and tender and potentially controversial can be difficult. Thank you for being a community we can trust these words to! We look forward so much to hearing your thoughts.

Hi Super Stars!! Welcome back to the next episode in the Sorta Spicy series! For this conversation, I asked Sorta Awesome regular Julie Tepperman to share her perspective as a Jewish woman living in a Christian-majority culture.
Just to be clear - there's nothing inherently "spicy" about being Jewish! But we created this series to give you a chance to hear from people sharing parts of their lives and stories that they might not feel comfortable talking about to thousands of listeners on the main Sorta Awesome show.
I know you are going to LOVE hearing from Julie about what it was like to grow up steeped in diversity and cultural richness and how that is so different from the experience of her own children. We talk tradition, Jewish youth group, Israel, and so much more!
Julie is active in the Super Stars Hangout group, or you can leave a comment here on Patreon in the comments section.
Thank you for your ongoing support of Sorta Awesome! Super Stars like you make series like this one possible!

Hi Super Stars!! For the first time EVERRRRR, we had so much to say in an Awesome Overflow, we had to make it TWO episodes! You get Part One today, and Part Two will drop into your Super Stars feed on FRIDAY, JULY 2nd. (Note: This episode - Part One - will drop into the main/non-Patreon Sorta Awesome feed on Friday, July 2nd. But you guys still get a brand new episode that day, just over here in the Patreon feed. Clear as mud? LOL)
This month, I'm joined by my sister and SA regular Emily Harris and we are giving our BEST ADVICE to the Awesomes! We asked the Awesomes of Instagram what they need advice on - serious or silly. Emily and I both like to boss each other around, so we thought, why not try bossing around the Super Stars? ;) We've got lots of skin care and body care talk, we talk about difficult sibling situations, when it's time to find a new pet, how to change your eating plan, breakfast and lunch ideas, so much more, and that's just in Part One!
NOTES:
1) Have you ever been listening to an episode of Sorta Awesome and thought "Gosh, I wish I could tell them _______!" or "Why don't they know that the name of that movie is _____?" Have you ever wondered what TikToks I text my friends, or what I text my friends when I find a new favorite mascara?
We are THRILLED to announce that our latest Super Star perk is texting with us! Well, mostly me, tbh. Through the Community app, we are able to send texts to our community and communicate back and forth via texting. No bots, no AI, just me or someone on the team, real-life texting with YOU!
Send us a hello message at +1 (405) 251-8330 and we will get you all set up!
2) Also, here's the foot care kit on Amazon that I mention in my advice to Kate!
3) ALSO also - we will probably wind down the Sorta Spicy series soon. I have a new episode ready for you that will drop early next week (SA Regular Julie talking about growing up Jewish in a Christian-majority culture. It's so GOOD, you guys!). Are there other S P I C Y topics you want us to try to take on before we bring this series to a close? Drop a comment over on Patreon or track me down on SA social media and let me know!!
Okay, I think that's everything! HAPPY LISTENING. Love you, Thank you, We couldn't do this without you (wouldn't WANT to do with this without you!!).

It's the end of March and that means it's time for our Awesome Overflow! If you are new to being a Super Star, first of all, WELCOME and THANK YOU for joining us! The Awesome Overflow is a monthly bonus episode that we create just for our Patreon supporters. This month, Rebekah and I checked in with the Super Stars in your exclusive Facebook group to see what burning questions we can answer for you. We assess signs of (maybe?!) returning to (sorta) normal life, we tease a brand new look for Sorta Awesome, and Rebekah finally reveals the name of the book that left her in tears on Super Bowl Sunday.
Happy listening! And as always, thank you for all that you do to keep the message of Sorta Awesome going strong!

The Sorta Spicy series is back, and in our latest installment, Kelly joins me to talk about purity culture: what it was/is, when it began, how can we heal from long-term damage it caused, and how do we teach our kids about sex going forward? That is a LOT to pack into one hour of conversation, but we managed to get in a LOT of thoughts (plus a few Awesomes of the Week!).

Welcome back to the SORTA SPICY series! This is episode four in a series we created just for you, Super Stars, where we cut loose and get a little spicier than we would ever let ourselves be on the Friday episodes of Sorta Awesome.
In this installment, we go deep into some confessions about how the COVID quarantine has changed us over the past year. And by we, I mean me, Kelly, Rebekah, AND past Sorta Awesome co-host Laura Tremaine! Hold on tight, because these confessions get REALLY REAL.
PLEASE NOTE that we had some major audio/technical difficulties getting this episode recorded, so it doesn't have the usual Sorta Awesome sound, AND there's some language that isn't fit for little ears, so keep that in mind as you listen. When it comes to all things COVID-related, you just never know what you're gonna get. ::wink::
As ALWAYS, thank you so much for your support of Sorta Awesome. Thank you for letting us trust our most closely-held secrets from the past year to you. Thank you for continuing to bring Awesome to the world with your generous support!
Yes I really did cuss on mic,

Your brand new edition of Awesome Overflow is here! Join me and Rebekah this month as we dish on all KINDS of behind the scenes stuff - more on AJ's green hair, what's up with teens these days NOT wanting to drive, the shaky line between fanfiction and published novels, and commentary on the very first Black Bachelor on ABC's The Bachelor. PLUS a big update on Sorta Spicy!
Cozy flannels and cabincore,

Welcome back to the Sorta Spicy series, Super Stars! This week it's MY turn to reveal a topic that I never (seriously, NEVER) talk about with anyone else, and it's one that you're certainly not going to hear me dive into on Friday episodes of Sorta Awesome!
Rebekah was down to talk all about fandoms with me. We talk about fanfic, fan vids, shipping, non-canon pairings, and the gender and sexual identity politics that have formed the modern world of fandoms! This is the most ::nervous:: I've been about sharing part of my life with anyone in a long time, but I'm so hoping you'll enjoy going down this little rabbit hole with me.

Hi Super Star Awesomes!
We've wrapped up November 2020, but before we did, I grabbed my sister and Sorta Awesome regular Emily to record a new edition of Awesome Overflow for you! In our conversation we talk about the podcasts we are loving these days, why Emily had some BIG FEELINGS about the self-care vs. self-comfort episode of Sorta Awesome, and the good and the bad of diagnosing yourself via TikTok.
As always, THANK YOU for your support of Sorta Awesome!! Thank you for lighting up the world with YOUR Awesome!

Hey Super Stars!
We are on day 6 with no power here in OKC, and so this month's Overflow is a little late and is WILDLY unedited! I recorded this conversation with Rebekah back in mid-October, and we were delighted to have questions from our Super Stars to answer this month.
As always, THANK YOU THANK YOU for supporting our mission of bringing and BEING Awesome to this world.
Happy listening!

Super Stars! It's finally here - we're kicking off our Sorta Spicy series today!
Sorta Spicy revisits an idea we had earlier in our Patreon years - the Sorta Taboo series. We're back with full-length episodes covering topics we normally would never discuss on the Friday episodes of Sorta Awesome.
I am THRILLED to launch this series with a conversation with one of my most favorite people in the world - my sister Emily. In this episode, she tells her story of recovery in a 12 step program. I know I'm biased, but you guys, this is one of my FAVORITE conversations I've ever recorded. Emily is so candid and brave in telling her story, and I just could not be more proud of her.
CONTENT WARNING: as you can tell from my description, the topic of substance abuse is discussed, so if this is a sensitive area for you, please be advised.
We have more great conversations coming up in this series. Thank you so much for your ongoing support which makes series like Sorta SPICY possible!
One day at a time,
Meg

Well, Super Stars, here we are! We rounding out September and fully into Autumn 2020, and that means it's time for the September Overflow episode!
This month, Kelly and I sit down for a big catch-up on all things LIFE related. Kelly updates us on how things are going with her family after her father's sudden death two months ago. We laugh about driver's license testing fails, and I share a BIG epiphany about how the Enneagram-flavored story I was telling myself was the opposite of self-care. #showerthoughts And I share that one of my favorite self-comforts right now is beautiful bullet journaling videos on YouTube including:
AmandaRachLee
Plant Based Bride
Caitlin's Corner
I hope you enjoy our Overflow conversation this month!
ALSO! Sign-ups for the SUPER STAR FALL SWAP will start October 1st (that's this week!!). Stay tuned for that information right here in Patreon and in our Super Star Hangout on Facebook.

Hi Super Stars, we've got your July 2020 Awesome Overflow for you!
This month, we take a little different direction as Kelly shares a significant update from her family life. We talk about personalities, grief, and the specific heartache of aging parents.
But! Since neither of us like to end anything on a sad note, we both share little lists of the happy stuff that is saving our lives right now.
As ALWAYS, your ongoing support of Sorta Awesome absolutely means the world to us, especially in these incredibly challenging economic times. We honored to have an Inner Circle of Awesome like the Super Stars are, and we are so thankful you let us trust so much of our lives to you (and that you trust so much to us!)

Hi Super Stars!I'm late to one of my New Year's resolutions, but thanks to our current quarantine, I'm finally getting to it. As I shared at the end of 2019, one of my goals for 2020 is to show up for our community more frequently and in-person on video. I'm accompanied by my surly, reluctant, long-time love interest Kyle.
(Just kidding about reluctant - he's helped me stay motivated, he's producing and editing it, all because he wants me to know that despite my Enneagram Nine reservations, it really does make a difference whether or not I show up!)
So with less fuss about the editing and more realness about the muss of our daily lives, we hope you enjoy Sorta Awesome + ... A new series that for now is exclusively for the Super Stars!
Believing that done is better than perfect,
Meg

Overflow in the time of quarantine!
Hey Super Stars!
It's the end of March and time for another round of Awesome Overflow. This month, my sister and Sorta Awesome regular Emily Harris joins me for an episode we've been promising since ... last fall? Yeah.
This is the second part of the Q&A episode that Emily and I recorded last October. In it, you'll hear us talk about social media choices when you feel like people are watching, if we've always (always?!) been so close, and how we entertained ourselves as kids in the 80s.
At the end of this episode, you'll hear me mention that things are shifting rapidly in the podcasting industry. Please know we are SO THANKFUL for your ongoing support - even and especially in these unpredictable times! We appreciate you SO MUCH.
Sidewalk chalk and Spotify dance parties,
Meg

Spring 2020 is shaping up to be far different than anything anyone could have expected. We are, as a global community, just beginning to feel the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. At Sorta Awesome, we know it's a struggle to find anything to be joyful about right now. But we believe that humankind can survive in the darkest of moments when we are able to find something we can look forward to.
In light of this, we do have an awesome list for Spring 2020, but Meg and her sister Emily adapted it to make sure each item on the list represents something that can be enjoyed even if many of us are living in isolation for the time being. Tune in to hear them talk beauty products, Eastertide, sunscreen, an oral history of The Office, and more.

Recipe similar to Meg's bierocks recipe
Meg’s secret to stovetop popcorn: In a pot with a lid, melt 1 T. coconut oil over medium-high heat. Add ½ c. popcorn. Put lid on pot, shake kernels so they are coated with coconut oil. Keep lid on as corn pops, occasionally shaking pot to keep bottom kernels from scorching. When popping slows to 3 seconds between pops, remove pot from heat, pour popcorn into bowl. Pour over ½ c. melted butter. Sprinkle with sea salt. Toss and enjoy!

Hey Super Stars!! February 2020 is winding down, so it's time for a brand new Overflow episode!
This month, Rebekah joins me to dish on what's new in our lives. Rebekah has a happy update about her Harry Situation (but not her Hairy Situation) (just to clarify), and I am a little bummed to face the reality of why I'm already failing on one of my 2020 goals. We talk about how The Bachelor became a breeding ground for wanna-be Influencers, and how Rebekah ended up becoming an accidental influencer of the spicy books variety.
Here's the article at the Ringer we referenced: How The Bachelor Franchise Became An Influencer Launchpad
Your support means so, so very much to us. Thank you for cheering Sorta Awesome on! As we head into the intensity that 2020 is sure to bring, we're going to need all the Awesome we can find!

Hi friends!
Episode 233 dropped last Friday, and first of all, can I just tell you that this episode itself was haunted? It took us three - THREE - attempts to get this thing recorded. We had one technical fail after another. Mercury in retrograde TO THE MAXIMUM. If it even makes sense at all, it's because our editor Nicholas is a miracle worker.
But because recording it was so crazy, we lost track of how much time we spent telling our true crime/missing persons stories. Before we started that segment, we thought it would be fun to tell about some spooky happenings in our own homes. I ended up cutting this altogether for the sake of time, but I thought maybe our Super Stars might like to listen in!
Chill bumps and things that go bump in the night,
Meg

Needing something to take your mind off of the winter blues? This week, Meg is joined by her sister Emily and they have another volume of Something Bad Happened! The next installment in this not-too-scary series features two missing persons cases that leave some big question marks at the end. What did Brianna Maitland see out of a storefront window on the day she disappeared? What does law enforcement know that would lead them to list Bryce Lapsisa’s whereabouts as “voluntarily missing?” Tune in to hear these stories, plus a great read and cozy jammies in Awesome of the Week!

Well Awesomes, it’s been a long, yucky season of sickness for Meg and Rebekah this year. But one awesome thing to come out of all the coughing, sniffling, and even a hospital stay is that they both have had a LOT of time to catch up on all the television and movies they’ve been meaning to get to, and this week, they are here to tell you what’s good in watching right now! Find out which once-favorite series has been a bummer lately, which celebrity behind-the-scenes documentary is worth your time, and who they think will win the heart of The Bachelor this year. All of that plus an app to help you make sense of your cycle and a true crime podcast series that will get you hooked from episode one in Awesome of the Week!

Surprise, Super Stars!
We know we've been skimpy with the Overflow episodes lately, but we wanted to make sure we finished up 2019 with one last bonus episode for the year. Tune in to hear me and Rebekah talk about some good stuff that won't make it to a Friday show. We share more thoughts on invisible labor, I talk about doing the one parenting thing I swore I'd never do, and Rebekah unleashes some MAJOR fan girl talk (including a book recommendation so spicy, she couldn't share it on a Friday episode!).
Happy listening and happy end of 2019!

We all know that one way to be an Awesome is to be generous with giving to others, and the holidays are filled with ways to practice generosity! But sometimes giving to others can get a little messy, no matter how good our intentions may be. This week. Meg is joined by Rebekah and her husband Nate who returns to Sorta Awesome to give us some fresh perspectives on having the right mindset when it comes to giving to those in need at the holidays. As the executive director of a homeless shelter, Nate has seen it all when it comes to the responses of both the givers and the recipients of gifts at the holidays, and his wisdom and experience are so valuable. Then Meg shares some Dos and Don’ts to keep in mind when it comes to giving internationally. All of that plus a cute party dress, junk food on YouTube, and feeling strong as a mom in Awesome of the Week!

Mental load. Emotional labor. Invisible work. You’ve heard these terms and how they describe a sometimes un-awesome part of life - the work that many women do to keep everything running in homes, families, and in the workplace. Hello Super Stars!
Here we are! Just hours away from the beginning of November, and in our culture, that means we are moments away from launching into the holiday season.
This is the time of year when we on the Sorta Awesome team notice an uptick in conversations in our community about all of the stress, strain, and heartache that the holidays can bring. And it's no wonder - when you stop to consider all that these last two months of the year require of us on top of our already booked-out, maxed-out, hearts-out lives, it's natural to feel like you need someone to hold your hand a little bit to get through it all.
This year, I wanted to hold your hand in the best way I know how.
I created nine affirmations for you, nine statements to help you remember who you are and what you bring to this world, even when the season is asking so much of you. I hope this small gift is something that will speak to you now and in the weeks ahead, particularly in those moments when the reality of the season doesn't quite match up to your much hoped for plans.
I genuinely believe that affirmations can help us to figure out how to write a new story for ourselves and our circumstances. It is my hope that these nine statements will help you craft a story of the holiday season 2019 that is one you'll look back on with fondness for years to come.
Thank you for your generous support of Sorta Awesome!
And THANK YOU for being an Awesome.
Sugar plums and spiked cider,
Meg

Hey Super Stars!
I'm going to be totally honest with you - over the summer, I accidentally overbooked the ads for Episode 216 of Sorta Awesome. Like WAY overbooked! I should not be trusted with show logistics when I'm in the haze of newborn days.
I had to make some cuts to my conversation with Rebekah to fit all those ads in and keep this episode at a (somewhat) reasonable length. So, today I'm sharing with you guys the ad-free, uncut version of ep. 216 complete with show notes below.
Happy listening!
Meg
You know how sometimes in life a thing is TOTALLY AWESOME … until it’s not? This week, Meg and Rebekah explore what to do when the awesome wears off. They revisit some past Awesomes of the Week that have lost their sparkle and shine, and they also explore some real life examples of things that are no longer all that great. Meg shares five tips for how to bounce back when the awesome is gone, and they talk clear complexions and a hot new release in awesome of the week!

Oh my GOODNESS, you guys.
Turn up the volume on that classic song Love Shack (thank you, B-52s!) because I am TIIIIIIIIIIIIIN ROOF. RUSTY.
Getting back into the swing of production after some much-needed maternity leave/time-off has taken me a little longer than I thought. Every week, I'm surprised by all that I've forgotten to do. It makes my very strong Enneagram 1 wing HIGHLY uncomfortable. Thank you all for patience!
I am so thankful for the way each of you have continued to support Sorta Awesome through these summer months, both as Super Stars and in the bigger Sorta Awesome community. Each and every one of you truly are the shiniest!
We hope you enjoy getting to hear the rest of the overflow of our awesome from this summer. As always, make sure to join our Super Stars group on Facebook to share your thoughts, or leave us a comment right here on Patreon!

Kelly and Rebekah answer your questions and commiserate about summer expectations vs summer reality. And Kelly also has a cocktail to share: look for Joia Spirit at a liquor store near you.

This is why you pay the big bucks. Exclusive access to the most popular podcast host on the planet. (Meg, we can hear you snorting.)
Also in this extra shot of Awesome goodness: what Kelly and Rebekah are reading and listening to, what Rebekah DOESN'T want you to watch, and a recipe for rhubarb bars. Because Kelly.
Spoiler links below. We are SO GRATEFUL FOR YOU, Super Stars. Not even maternity leave could keep us apart.
"Maybe You Should Talk to Someone" by Lori Gottlieb
"The Sun Does Shine" by Anthony Ray Hinton
"At Home in the World " by Tsh Oxendreider
Pantsuit Politics
The Viall Files
Rhubarb Bars 2 cups large diced rhubarb
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp vanilla
Directions:
Combine rhubarb chunks and 1/2 cup sugar in a medium-sized bowl. The sugar will pull some water from the rhubarb while you make the dough, to make a syrupy mixture.
In a large bowl or the bowl of your stand mixer, cream butter, the other 1/2 cup of sugar and the 1 cup of brown sugar. Mix until light and fluffy.
Add egg and mix well.
Add dry ingredients and mix. Dough will be thick.
Add the 1/2 tsp vanilla to the rhubarb mixture, then pour rhubarb into the bowl with the dough. Mix just until combined.
Spread in the bottom of a greased 9x13 pan. Use an offset spatula or your hands to evenly flatten the dough. It will be thick.
Bake at 350 for 40-45 minutes. It's fabulous with ice cream, or for breakfast as a coffee cake.

Hi Super Stars!
skiing into summer like
Here is your May 2019 installment of the Awesome Overflow! In this bonus episode just for our Super Stars, I'm joined by Rebekah and we share with you all the things going on behind the scenes that won't make it to a Friday episode.
A few show notes:
Reign on Netflix
Thai Coconut Chicken Curry at Averie Cooks
Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend: Bill Hader
And a few programming notes:
1) This episode was recorded just days before I received the news that Sorta Awesome is being released from the Wondery network, so there's a little chatter about Wondery at the end of this episode that is already out of date. Funny how quickly things can change, right?
2) I cannot believe I completely forgot to mention on this episode that we'll soon be getting started on our next Super Star swap - this one will be our summer edition of the swap! Look for details on how to participate in the Swap coming to you at the end of this week!
As always, thank you for being a Super Star supporter of Sorta Awesome! Need help getting the Super Star podcast feed loaded into your podcast app? Start here! Haven't joined our exclusive Facebook group? Join us here!

As anyone who has ever even dabbled in the Enneagram knows so well, it's a way of looking at ourselves that forces us to confront some stuff that may be ... difficult.
In the conversation for the Extra Awesome episode "Trusting your intuition (even when it seems dumb)," Laura and I talk about how the path of trying to follow your intuition is not always a straight line. We delved into a recent revelation having to do with her Enneagram type that we thought might be better trusted just to you all, our Super Stars.
Please enjoy these extra few minutes cut from that Extra Awesome just for you!

Hello Super Stars!
There's no new episode of Sorta Awesome this week, but you shiny golden supporters do get a full-length (and then some!) episode featuring me and Kelly sharing our very real, very vulnerable views on some matters of faith.
Last spring in the Super Stars Hangout on Facebook, we asked for questions from you all as we contemplated how to approach a follow-up to our faith shifts episode. We never have forgotten that you guys gave us SUCH amazing questions to consider, and we thought that this week would be the perfect time to share where we are as we both continue to grapple with these topics.
We hope you enjoy our conversation, and we would love to hear your thoughts on the Patreon page or in our Super Stars Hangout group!

Hello Super Stars! HAPPY APRIL!On Friday, April 6th, Laura Tremaine returned to Sorta Awesome in a special edition Extra Awesome to introduce us to her new project: 10 Things To Tell You. In that episode, we covered six conversation topics that we've been meaning to tell each other or ask about for months.
We saved a few conversation topics JUST FOR YOU. This unedited episode deep dives into true girlfriends-ONLY chat territory. We talk sex in marriage after two decades, how getting her face stuck with needles led to a bigger life lesson for Laura, and just how - EXACTLY - this listening to your intuition thing works.
This exclusive episode is straight-up conversation - in fact, we really forgot the microphone was even there!
Thank you, as ALWAYS, for your ongoing support of Sorta Awesome! We are so, so thankful for all you do to keep our community going!

Hello and Happy Valentine's Day, SUPER STAR Awesomes!
(And awkwardly, for those observing Lent - blessed Lent)
One year ago today, Kelly and I kicked off the Sorta Taboo series for our listener supporters with a frank discussion on sex. Today, we are bringing sexy back - sorta - with a follow-up to that conversation.
We don't often equate understanding and adjusting the expectations of ourselves and our partners to be HOT SEXY TALK, but honestly, in the reality of life, sometimes that's just what it takes to uncover a more awesome sex life.
We hope you'll enjoy this conversation! As always, we love to hear your feedback either in the comments here on Patreon or over in our Super Stars Hangout Group.
Here's to great sex for the long haul,

Hello, Super Awesomes!
Sorta Awesome episode 117 dropped last week, and in it, Rebekah and I talk all about our past jobs - highlights, lowlights, and more. We kept the recording going because I had a few more questions I wanted to ask her.
I had no idea that asking her what she wanted to be when she was younger, what her parents wanted her to be, and what her most embarrassing on-the-job story was would lead to such SCANDALOUS conversation!
This bonus episode is not safe for the littlest ears, but it does give you a little more (okay, a LOT more) insight into the stories that have made us the women we are today!
And don't forget - if you want to join us in our Sorta Awesome Super Stars Facebook group, we'd love to chat with you over there!
