We're back after a long absence. In this show, recorded back in July, Lucy rambles a bit, but talks about a movie that she recently saw ("Enchanted"), in which a princess cleans house. Then we talk a bit about thunderstorms and the wisdom of avoiding swimming pools because of the lightning. Finally, Lucy answers Dad's question about when she thinks the sweet corn will be ready for harvesting.
We were in the car when we recorded this, so the quality is a bit poor and it's more of a monologue, rather than our normal back and forth discussion. But we're trying to get back on a regular schedule for the podcast and will post another show soon.

We start the show by saying silly words like "blubber" and "mukluks". Lucy then talks a bit about the coming of Spring and how Grandpa John used to be able to do the splits on roller skates. Finally, we talk briefly about our visit to the zoo with Lucy's cousins.

We talk a bit about how trucks move cows and other animals from place to place. And finally, we talk about using trucks to move all of your stuff when you move from one house to another.

This week, instead of a live discussion with Lucy, I'm publishing a recording from 2-1/2 years ago, when Lucy was 2 years old. I try to get Lucy to say a few things. But, though she is a chatterbox when not recording, she's a little bit shy with the recorder.

We finally get our Lucy Show podcast off the ground. In episode 1, we trot out a recording from a year ago--January of 2008--with Lucy and Sean talking about farms, boats and tools.

Ok, maybe blogging has floated up on my list of projects just the tiniest bit--from 990 to maybe around 100. I do intend to get our audio Lucy Show podcasts up and running sometime soon. I have all the raw content for the first show, chatting with Lucy. I just need to find some theme music, do a little editing, and then post the first episode.
Well, I'm incredibly excited that I was able to create my first episode of the "Lucy Show" podcast last night. I was surprised at how easy this was. I downloaded Audacity and very quickly recorded a test podcast (me reading The Cat In the Hat). And I then just followed the excellent instructions in Making a Podcast with Blogger and FeedBurner. And after setting the RSS 2.0 feed up in FeedBurner, it was like magic to be able to subscribe to the feed from iTunes and see my episode come down. The final satisfaction was playing the feed for Lucy on the iPod this morning while driving into work. (We often listen to music or watch kid shows, plugging the iPod into the car stereo).
The bottom line on this stuff is that blogging and podcasting is so easy these days, everyone should do it. Blogging especially easy, with the great support from Blogger. But creating an actual podcast only marginally harder. Makes me want to rush out and teach community ed classes in podcasting!
