The idea that men are often seen as problem solvers while women may prioritize the need for someone to listen is a generalization that does not apply universally to all individuals. However, it does reflect certain societal expectations and communication patterns that are observed in some contexts. Let's explore this concept and its implications:

1. Communication Styles:Traditional gender roles have often shaped expectations around communication styles. Men may be socialized to be more solution-oriented and task-focused, seeking to analyze and solve problems efficiently. On the other hand, women may be encouraged to express emotions and connect through empathetic listening.

2. Problem-Solving vs. Emotional Expression:In some situations, men may feel a natural inclination to provide solutions when faced with a problem. They may see this as a way to be helpful and supportive. Conversely, women may value the emotional connection that comes from sharing their feelings and having someone listen without necessarily offering solutions.

3. Emotional Support:Women, in general terms, may place a higher value on emotional support and understanding. They might prioritize the need for someone to empathize with their feelings, validate their experiences, and create a space for emotional expression. This doesn't necessarily mean they don't appreciate problem-solving; it's more about the order of priorities in certain situations.

4. Empathy and Validation:Women often seek empathy and validation in communication. They may find comfort in having their emotions acknowledged and understood. Men, on the other hand, may be more inclined to demonstrate care by actively attempting to resolve the issues at hand.

5. Societal Expectations:These patterns can be reinforced by societal expectations and stereotypes. Men are sometimes expected to be assertive problem solvers, while women are encouraged to be nurturing listeners. These expectations can influence individual behaviors and preferences in communication.

6. Recognizing Individual Differences:It's crucial to recognize that these generalizations don't apply to every individual. People are diverse, and their communication preferences are shaped by a combination of personal experiences, cultural influences, and individual personalities. Some men may highly value empathetic listening, while some women may naturally gravitate toward problem-solving approaches.

7. Effective Communication Requires Both:Healthy communication in any relationship often involves a combination of problem-solving and empathetic listening. Successful partnerships involve a mutual understanding of each other's communication styles and needs. Effective communication requires a balance, with both partners feeling heard, understood, and supported.

In summary, while there may be tendencies for men to lean toward problem-solving and women to seek empathetic listening, these are broad generalizations. It's essential to approach communication in relationships with an awareness of individual preferences and to recognize the value of both problem-solving and emotional expression in fostering understanding and connection. Ultimately, effective communication involves finding a balance that meets the needs of both individuals in a relationship.

The statement "How a woman feels can dictate how a home feels and functions" underscores the significant role that women often play in shaping the emotional climate and overall dynamics within a household. While it's important to recognize that feelings and responsibilities within a home should be shared by all family members, this statement highlights the unique influence that women, typically mothers and caretakers, can have on the family environment. Let's explore this concept further:

1. Emotional Tone-Setting:Women often contribute significantly to the emotional atmosphere in a home. Their mood, demeanor, and emotional well-being can set the tone for the entire household. A woman who feels content, fulfilled, and emotionally balanced is likely to radiate positivity, creating a harmonious environment that fosters emotional well-being for all family members.

2. Nurturing and Supportive Atmosphere:Women are often the primary nurturers in a family. When a woman feels emotionally supported and nurtured herself, she is better equipped to extend that care to others in the household. This nurturing atmosphere contributes to a sense of security and comfort, making the home a welcoming and supportive place for all family members.

3. Organizational Skills and Household Functioning:Women are frequently involved in managing the practical aspects of a home, from meal planning and household chores to organizing family schedules. How a woman feels about her responsibilities can impact the efficiency and functionality of these daily tasks. A woman who feels empowered and organized is more likely to create a well-run and smoothly functioning home.

4. Communication and Connection:Women often play a central role in facilitating communication and connection within a family. When a woman feels emotionally connected and communicative, it tends to foster open lines of dialogue among family members. Effective communication is crucial for resolving conflicts, understanding each other's needs, and building strong, supportive relationships.

5. Role Modeling for Children:The emotional well-being of a mother can significantly influence the emotional development of her children. Children often look to their mothers as emotional anchors. A woman who models resilience, empathy, and healthy emotional expression provides a valuable example for her children, shaping their own emotional intelligence and well-being.

6. Balancing Work and Home Life:Many women manage the delicate balance between work and home responsibilities. How a woman feels about this balance can impact her energy levels, stress levels, and overall well-being. A woman who feels supported in achieving a work-life balance is likely to contribute positively to the overall atmosphere in the home.

7. Creating a Safe Haven:Women often take on the role of creating a safe and comforting space within the home. When a woman feels emotionally secure and supported, she can extend that sense of safety to her family. This safe haven becomes a place where family members can seek solace, share their thoughts and feelings, and find comfort.

It's essential to note that while women can play a significant role in shaping the emotional climate of a home, the responsibility for emotional well-being and household functioning should be a shared endeavor. Open communication, mutual support, and a collaborative approach among all family members contribute to a healthy and thriving home environment.

Choosing to be the best parent is undoubtedly a challenging yet immensely rewarding journey. Parenting is a multifaceted role that demands time, patience, understanding, and a continuous commitment to personal growth. While the path to being the best parent is not always easy, the rewards are profound and enduring. Let's explore some aspects of this journey:

1. Unconditional Love and Bonding:**Being the best parent involves cultivating a deep and unconditional love for your child. This love serves as the foundation for a strong parent-child bond. The joy of witnessing your child grow and develop, forming a connection based on trust and affection, is one of the most rewarding aspects of parenthood.

2. Emotional Development:**The best parents actively contribute to their children's emotional development. By providing a secure and nurturing environment, parents help their children develop emotional resilience, empathy, and a healthy understanding of their own emotions. Witnessing your child navigate life's challenges with emotional intelligence is incredibly gratifying.

3. Educational Support:**Supporting your child's education is a key element of being a great parent. This involves not only assisting with homework but also fostering a love for learning, curiosity, and critical thinking. Celebrating your child's academic achievements, both big and small, brings a sense of accomplishment and pride.

4. Setting Boundaries and Teaching Values:**The best parents strike a balance between love and discipline. Setting clear and consistent boundaries helps children understand expectations and navigate the world around them. Teaching values, such as honesty, integrity, and kindness, contributes to the development of responsible and compassionate individuals.

5. Personal Growth:**Being the best parent requires continuous personal growth. It involves self-reflection, adapting to new challenges, and learning from both successes and mistakes. This journey of self-improvement not only benefits the parent but also sets a powerful example for the child, demonstrating the importance of lifelong learning and personal development.

6. Celebrating Milestones:**The joy of witnessing and celebrating your child's milestones, whether they are first steps, academic achievements, or personal accomplishments, is unparalleled. These moments serve as a testament to the positive impact you've had on your child's life and contribute to a sense of fulfillment.

7. Building a Supportive Community:**Recognizing the importance of a supportive community is integral to being the best parent. Connecting with other parents, seeking advice when needed, and sharing experiences contribute to a network that can provide guidance and encouragement throughout the parenting journey.

8. Legacy of Love:**Perhaps the most enduring reward of being the best parent is the legacy of love you create. Your influence shapes your child's character, values, and outlook on life. As your child grows into adulthood, the impact of your positive parenting resonates through the choices they make and the relationships they form.

In conclusion, choosing to be the best parent is a demanding yet profoundly rewarding endeavor. The love, growth, and shared experiences that come with being the best parent create a legacy that extends beyond the immediate family. The rewards of parenting are not only found in the joy of raising a child but also in the positive impact that extends into future generations.

When it comes to The gospel of Jesus Christ the biggest thing that goes wrong is culture gets in the way.

Uncommunicated expectations in relationships refer to the set of assumptions, hopes, or desires that individuals have but do not express explicitly to their partners. These expectations can cover a wide range of aspects in a relationship, including communication styles, behaviors, roles, responsibilities, and even long-term goals. When these expectations are not communicated openly and clearly, they can lead to misunderstandings, conflicts, and potential strain on the relationship.

Here are some key points to understand about uncommunicated expectations in relationships:

  1. Assumption vs. Reality: People often enter relationships with certain expectations based on their beliefs, values, past experiences, or societal norms. However, these expectations might not align with the expectations of their partners. When assumptions remain unspoken, there is a risk that the assumed expectations will differ from the actual actions or behaviors of both individuals.
  2. Communication Breakdown: Effective communication is the foundation of a healthy relationship. When expectations are not communicated, there's a lack of clarity about each other's needs and desires. This can lead to misunderstandings, frustration, and a breakdown in communication.
  3. Unrealistic Expectations: Sometimes, uncommunicated expectations can be unrealistic or unfair. For example, one partner may expect the other to fulfill all their emotional needs without expressing these expectations explicitly. Unrealistic expectations can set the stage for disappointment and resentment.
  4. Conflict and Tension: As uncommunicated expectations build up over time, they can contribute to conflict within the relationship. Partners may become frustrated or hurt when their implicit expectations are not met, and this can create tension and distance between them.
  5. Undermining Trust: When individuals feel that their expectations are not being met or that their partner has undisclosed expectations, it can undermine trust. Trust is crucial in any relationship, and uncommunicated expectations can erode it over time.
  6. The Importance of Open Communication: To avoid the pitfalls of uncommunicated expectations, it is vital for partners to establish open and honest communication. This involves expressing needs, desires, and expectations clearly and actively listening to each other's perspectives. Regular check-ins and discussions about the evolving nature of the relationship can help ensure that both individuals are on the same page.
  7. Setting Boundaries: Open communication also involves setting and respecting boundaries. Both partners should feel comfortable expressing their limits and discussing what they consider acceptable or unacceptable in the relationship.

In summary, uncommunicated expectations in relationships can be detrimental to the overall health and well-being of the partnership. Open communication, active listening, and a willingness to express needs and expectations can contribute to a more understanding and fulfilling relationship. Regularly checking in with each other and addressing any unspoken expectations can help build trust and strengthen the connection between partners.

Segment 7 – Do the Shit That You Love

“I believe the singular reason that I have been financially successful is cause I don’t care about financial success. Like, find your process. Find your thing. Live within your means. This goes back to a lot of the things that I’m thinking about. When people do things for other people’s affirmation it makes them incredibly emotionally vulnerable. We’re in a very special time here. Find the thing that makes you happy doing it. Not because of any other part. And so if you can find something you love, when shit hits the fan you’re not going to be looking for the next trend. You’re going to be chilling here for the next two, three, four years waiting for it to flip back up. That’s a beautiful feeling. It’s fun to be in the shit when it’s the shit you like being in.”

-Gary Vee

(Theme music plays, pencil scratching in the background)

in a whispered tone P: Transcripts

D:Mr. Gary Vee

F:Dude, that’s pretty profound

D:You know, so, he brought up a lot of…OK. He brought up a lot of things that people need to do. You know one…something my grandfather always told us, uh, you know, he said ‘Find what you love doing and people will pay you to do it.’ So, it’s true. And he’s saying ‘Find what you love.’ Actually his exact words were ‘Find the shit that you love.’ So, now, he also mentioned if you’re doing things for other people’s approval, my words, well, why are you doing it? Cause you’re just making yourself vulnerable to…cause here’s the thing: (sighs) when it comes to people’s approval, you don’t need anyone’s

approval but your’s.

F:That’s taken many years for me to learn that for myself.

D:Um, quick story, cause I like telling stories.

F:Everybody on the carpet. Story time.

D: (laughs) Um, so, 21, almos…almost 22 years ago, um, I married a young lady. Still married to her, obviously. And, um, went and got married and we eloped. Then we went to go see my parents.

F:How did that go over? Or is that part of the story?

D:Oh it’s coming…

F:Sorry. I didn’t mean to get ahead (laughs)

D:You’re like ‘Wait a second’

F:Well you kinda looked at me like…

D:Yeah…well…so we went to go see my parents and, you know, walked in the house and Shannon came with me, and my parents were…long story short: my parents, I’ll, I’ll backtrack a little before we got married. My parents received a letter from, I guess, my step-grandma. Yes…Shannon’s, Shannon’s step-grandma, cause her grandfather remarried. Um, and my step grandmother in law, this is while we were dating, wrote a letter to them saying how bad of a person that my mother…future mother in law…was and then pretty much closes it out in a, in a sense of saying ‘…and Shannon is gonna be just like her.’

F:I’m sure that created a lot of stereotypes for your parents.

D:There was a rift in the family. Me…and my parents were like ‘You’re not marrying her.’

F:Oh, really?

D:Yes. I was told that I’m not going to marry her.

F:They told you that you couldn’t do something (laughs)

D: (laughs) And you know me. Don’t tell me I can’t do something, right? So, um, fast forward, um, actually, so we broke it off, actually we, we broke it off for a, for a year and so I could try and figure out how to make everybody happy. And you know what? You can’t make everybody happy. It’s impossible. Nothing can happen. So, I go in and uh, she’s down in Florida and I’m up in Georgia, and then I’m like ‘This is stupid’ and I call her up and I’m like ‘Hey. You love me?’ She goes ‘Yeah’ ‘Well, I love you too. Let’s get married.’ She’s like ‘OK’ I literally left…

F:Wait, wait, wait. That’s how you proposed?

D:No I proposed…so I proposed before.

F:Oh, so there was a, OK

D:So fast forward there…There was a proposal before. We broke it off. She gave me the ring back.

Literally, I got the ring back.

F:Gotcha

D:Everything, and it was like that for a year, and, and then, you know, a year goes by and I’m like ‘This is Stupid.’ You know, I’m gonna, you know

Segment 6 – Dream Big

“Don’t you give up on your dream. I don’t care if you don’t have the money, you don’t have the help, and you don’t have the family for it. And you don’t have the background for it. And you don’t have the friends for it. Don’t you give up on your dream. Don’t you do it. Don’t you do it. Don’t you do it. It may take you twice as long. You may have to take courses and classes. You might not read as fast. You might not move as quick. You might not have as much but don’t you quit.”

-

(Theme music plays, pencil scratching in the background)

in a whispered tone P: Transcripts

D:Dream big. So, (sighs)

F:But dream honestly as well.

D:OK, so, when I was a kid, I wanted to be a fireman. Also, when I was a kid I wanted to be an astronaut. I’m pretty sure, somewhere in the mix of all of that, I also wanted to be a dinosaur.

F:The first prehistoric astronaut that’s putting out a fire on (laughing) your space station? You go! Whooooo!

D:I mean, so, dreams are relative.

F:Yes

D:Then you have to have dreams that are reality. Now, if you wanna reach for the stars, you can do that, and that’s ok. Being a dinosaur, not gonna happen.

F:I think you said it right though. They need to be base din reality, so, um…

D:But, OK, but what’s reality? Do you think Elon Musk dreamed to be a billionaire?

F:He possibly did.

D:Maybe

F:But at the same time…

D:I don’t think that was his dream, though.

F:I don’t it was his dream either.

D:I just think that, that was a result of his dreams and his actions.

F:Right. And the reason I bring up the base din reality thing is because, so,

Segment 5 – Change Your Mindset

(0:00)

Steve Harvey: If you could change the way you wake up in the morning, stop saying ‘I got to go to work. I got to work out. I gotta get this weight off of me. I gotta go and meet with the people at the school. I gotta deal with my co-workers.’ Change one word in that sentence and everything about your life changes. ‘I get to wake up in the morning. I get to go to work.’ When you say ‘I got to…’ you take all of your opportunities and all of your blessings and you wrap ‘em up in stress by saying ‘I got to.’

(Theme music plays, pencil scratching in the background)

in a whispered tone P: Transcripts

D:Change your mind

F:Speak it Steve!

D:You know it, it’s funny and you…this, this video that we’re using the audio from is him on the, um,…

F:Family Feud set…

D:Family Feud set. Yeah.

F:I couldn’t believe it when I first saw it.

D:So, it…

F:I was thinking he was maybe doing a TED Talk or something. (Laughing)

D:Steve Harvey is an amazing guy. He, going from where he came from to where he is, he is a very, very successful man. And honestly, if anybody can look at his life and mimic it, they would be amazing. But then take it to the next level. Change your mind. Change the way we think.

F:That, that mindset that I think a lot of us get stuck in…

D:I gotta go do this. I get to take my kid…my son to practice.

F:That’s making it sound like it’s a, a difference between being a chore…

Moderator: “Why are weak men such a problem?”

Jordan Peterson: Well weak people are a problem, in general. And I don’t mean physically weak. I mean cowardly, let’s say, and deceitful because, I’m thinking it more in terms of moral weakness. Well, there’s a variety of reasons, is, first of all if you can’t support your own weight, let’s say, and someone else has to do it. And that’s not good. And then if you don’t make your pathway, if you don’t pick a forthright and useful and noble pathway through life then you’ll become bitter and, and, and too hurt by the tragedy of existence then you tend to seek your revenge wherever you can get it. And that’s not good. So, it’s a, it’s a mistake on all fronts, it’s not good for your it’s not good for your family, it’s not good for the community, um, it’s certainly not a good medium to a long term strategy because life is very, very difficult.

(Theme music plays, pencil scratching in the background)

in a whispered tone P: Transcripts

D: (inhales) There was a lot there

F:That hit me (pause) to the very core

D:Well…

F:And it’s just because based on that, based on Jordan’s words, I look back on my life and Iv’e seen a lot of times where I have been weak.

D:Well, I’ll go, so…

F:And I, I’m not taking judgement out on myself. I’m talking accountability and understanding WOW!

D:So, (sighs) we all have weak moments.

F:Correct

D:Um, you know, it, (sighs) I find it interesting that you know, that the question started off as why are men, weak men such a problem. And I know that this, this conversation went back to that later on, discussing the man side.

F:Correct

D:And we’ll, we’ll go to that another time too. But I think Jordan took it in the right direction. You know, He says, you know, weak people are a problem. And then he clarifies that, you know, you know, you know not talking about physical weakness, cause there are a lot more stronger people out there than me when it comes to physical strength. But, he, then he says cowardly. So let’s start there. What makes a coward?

(2:36)

F:A coward is someone who doesn’t make the choice to stand up to difficult situations

D:You know he…

F:They turn tail and run.

D:Well he…

F:I think that cliché is often used.

D:Well, and he…well, yeah. You know he, he talks, he, he, he, he said, you know, deceitful people, um, morally weak people, so let’s talk about morally weak. And no, we are not talking about keeping it in your pants. (Laughs)

F:Morality I think is something that …

D:We’ve forgotten about. Our society…

F:Yeah. Our society has forgotten about it.

D:They’ve pushed it to the side.

F:Because morality…

D:There’s multiple definitions of, of morality and being moral. Different, and, and each one of them are a valid definition. You know…

F:Right. In this sense are, I think we are talking about the morality of just the difference between what is right and what’s wrong.

D:Yeah! That’s literally what this is about. And there is a right and there is, well, a wrong. This is not about My Truth versus Your Truth. So then, then we’re, so we’re separating the truth. I, I, I honed in a lot on the My Truth. That really irritates me, because all you are saying is ‘My Opinion’ What this is saying, what is actually morally right? We all, OK, we all know, take religion out of this completely, we all know I have no right to go up to anyone and kill them. That’s wrong. We were born knowing that.

F:here’s another one for ya. Can I walk into a bank and just tell the person at gunpoint that I want the money?

D:Yeah, you can.

F:No, is that morally right?

D:No. That’s the, again, so you’re taking something that doesn’t belong to you. And that’s the, that’s also the deceit side that he talks about.

F:Mm huh

Segment 3 – Stop Being Offended

(0:00) (Audience laughing in the background) “What happens if you say that and someone gets offended? Well, they can be offended. What’s wrong with being offended? When did ‘sticks and stones may break my bones’ stop being relevant? Isn’t that what you teach children for God’s sake. That’s what you teach toddlers :”He called me an idiot. Don’t worry about it. He’s a dick.” Then you have adults going ‘I was offended. I was offended, and I have rights.’ Well, so what. Be offended. Nothing happens. You’re an adult. Grow up. Deal with it. I was offended. I don’t care!

-Steve Hughes

(Theme music plays, pencil scratching in the background)

in a whispered tone P: Transcripts

D:Are you offended?

F:I’m so offended!

D:(laughs)

F:And you don’t care

D:I honestly, see, you, so I love comedy

F:(laughs)

D:and you, you know, comedy is one of the most amazing things if you think about it. With comics, comedians, and it’s getting harder for the comedians, it is getting harder and harder because of the way our world is and the way people react. Um, but comedians, they can take a serious subject

F:Like hot topic subjects

D:Very Hot topics

F:Ok

D:They can talk about racism, they can talk about sexual…

F:Politics

D:Politics, it doesn’t matter what the subject is and they can take it and they can discuss it in a way with humor because there is truth to everything, every, you know, we’re, (laughs) in being intentional, which we’re gonna talk about that , knowing what words mean, and understanding words…it’s an education thing. It, it’s all about …yeah, we just gotta be smarter people, we gotta keep learning. We stop learning. We do. So, yeah, this comedian, he talks about being offended. And it’s funny and you hear people laughing. Those people were laughing, they were enjoying themselves. And they were laughing because he was talking about being offended. What happens when you are offended? When you get offended. You’ve been offended before, right?

(2:21)

F:(laughs) Yes

D:I’ve been offended

F:Yes, I’m, I’m sorry I was just sitting there going ‘When, there, yeah, I sometimes

D:Yu took offense to something?

F:I sometimes have gotten offended way too easily.

D:People leave churches because of taking offense.

F:Yes

D:People cancel people, cancel culture, because they are offended

F:I’m gonna say this, marriages end because of offense

D:Marriage ends because of people getting offended. So, do we care? Some things we should care about. If a marriage is ending because people get offended then that’s because there is a lack of understanding. That’s a relationship issue, that’s a communication issue.

F:And honestly I think that anytime anyone gets offended it is because of a lack of understanding

D:OK

F:I feel that misunderstandings are what cause offense to come about

D:Yes, It is

F:And, and what he said though, what was his name, I’m sorry

D:I can’t remember his name, I’ll find it and we’ll post it

F:We’ll post it, anyway, but didn’t he say something to the effect of …

D:Ok, Ok, thank you, drive safe

F:Just want you to know you are gonna be n the book now. Because they heard you…(laughs)

D:(laughs) She’s ok with it

F:Transcripts

D:It’s all part of our…

F:It’s all part of life

D:It’s all part of the Youngblood Life Podcast, so it, it is what it is

F:But it’s going in the book now…anyway…what I was getting at…

D:You are going to have to put

F:Elizabeth…E:, yes, um But ultimately misunderstandings, I feel, cause offense, I think

D:Well, so what causes the misunderstanding?

F:Lack of, a misunderstanding is, in my opinion a misunderstanding is

D:Lack of education…

F:Not only lack of education but a closed off heart

D:Well…

F:And a closed off mind

D:Ok, now what I mean a lack of education, too, but the reason I say that, lack of education lack of book learning.

F:Correct

D:It is also lack of understanding the subject matter. So you need to have a …

F:Yes

D:So w

Segment 2 – Don’t Believe What You Think

F: Ochona Delwayo said “One who looks around him is intelligent. One who looks within him is wise.” Or in other words, don’t believe everything you think.

(Theme music plays, pencil scratching in the background)

in a whispered tone P: Transcripts

D:So that is actually from a book I am reading.

F:I need to read it.

D:I will get you the…I will get you a copy of it.

F:Ar you reading it or are you listening to it, audiobook

D:I’m cheating, yes

F:There’s no cheating in an audiobook

D:You know, I read a lot, but time is always a thing. And so because time is a thing, I have to do things…yeah

F:I need to read more because I used to be an avid reader and I always read like, not actual educational books, more of the Sci-Fi…Piers Anthony was one of my favorite authors as a kid, I read all his series, it was amazing, I just, I read a lot and now not so much, but as a Lyft driver, I need to put on those audiobooks

D:You should, audiobooks are seriously they’re amazing. Makes your life easier, makes your life…you can get a lot done, I mean have you finished “Greenlights?”

F:I have not finished it because it actually deleted off of my phone, I have got to find it again

D:I can add it back to your phone

F:Oh thank you for…

D:Matthew McConaughey…

F:Matthew McConaughey, “Greenlights”, amazing, amazing stuff,

kind of along the lines of what we are doing here with ‘Transcripts’

D:Yeah, I mean his is more of about his life

F:Yeah, I mean but…

D:But he talks about how it applies and if you listen to what he does and how it applies and how he has taken it and applied the things that he has done and you apply it to your life, on the Greenlights side, I mean this is a green light right here

F:This is true

D:Yeah, this book is, yeah, ‘Don’t believe Everything You Think’ by, uh, Joseph Nguyen. I probably destroyed his name, but it is what it is…but

F:How do you spell it?

D:Um…go back to it…N G U Y N, E N

F:Oh that’s Nguyen (w e n)

D:Ok

F:That’s pronounced w e n

D:There we go, Joseph Nguyen, ok, there ya go, I destroyed it, but that’s ok

F:You did destroy it

D:I don’t know, again…

F:Is Joseph offended?

D:Probably…we’ll get to that

F:We’ll get to that segment

D:Ok, so

F:That, that, when you showed me that quote, it really hit me because , um, intelligence and wisdom…

D:Well, so this is actually chapter 2 in the book, it says ‘The root cause…’ basically it is talking about the root cause of all suffering

F:Ok

D:And then go back into the title of the book ‘Don’t believe everything you think, ok, so we, we literally are coming off talking about religion.

F:Absolutely

D:And…

F:And how a lot of religions the culture takes over or the people within the culture take over and then they start taking their own ideas

D:People focus, so it, culture is easy to grab a hold of

F:Well because you want to belong

D:Correct and that’s part of it, now when you grab a hold of a culture then, (sigh) cause you wanna belong, what happens is you’re trying to fit in and you want to fit in. Now there comes a point in everybody’s life, and most people don’t get to this point, but there comes a point in life where you need to say ‘I’m ok not fitting in’ Yeah…

F:Is that more on the kinda, the self love/self care kind of…

(3:46)

D:I, I think it is

F:Aspect of things…

D:The only reason is cause, you’re you and, you need to be, everybody needs to be unique in themselves. We can have things in common, religion can bring us something that is in common, you know politics can bring us something in common, you know, school cars, you name it. Right? We, we we’r culturistic people anyway. We all are.

F:Correct. The challenge within those cultures, I think, is that cliques are formed.

D:Correct

F:Because you, you get those segments, you know. Like, think high school…

D:Ok

F:You know in high school you had the jocks

D:Yeah

F:You had the richy rich girls that were

Segment 1 – Why Church?

Moderator: Why do people go to church?

Jordan Peterson: Why should they…

M: Right

J:Because that’s a discussion…so lots of modern people say ‘well I don’t go to church because I don’t believe that. It’s like…who cares what you believe, like who the hell are you anyways? Do you even care what you believe? How’s that working for you, this belief set that you theoretically have? How sophisticated is that? Are you Plato or what? ‘Well here’s the church and here’s me and I’m right’ and it’s like well no you’re not, first, and second you don’t even want to be because that’s a great place to be, like a pinnacle of brilliant wisdom…

M: (laughs)

J:…completely solipsistic, and even if you are right that the bloody institution is chaotic and decadent in some fundamental sense, well it’s like ‘good, there’s something for you to do, well if the church is broken and you’re the genius to see it, why don’t you go fix it?’ Well then you might say ‘Well then we’ll just abandon it’ and it’s like ‘OK, well fine, you’re gonna get rid of that, eh, you’re gonna get rid of marriage, you’re gonna get rid of funerals, you’re gonna get rid of Christmas, you’re gonna get rid of sense of sacred time…How far are you willing to go with this? And believe me, that question is right in front of you…

-Jordan Peterson

(Theme music plays, pencil scratching in the background)

in a whispered tone P: Transcripts

D: (laughter) OK

F:Wow

D:Mr. Jordan Peterson

F:He..

D:Mr. Jordan Peterson

F:That’s one of the most Deerect, deerect? …direct um, and blunt

individuals I have ever heard.

D:It’s one thing, I so I’ve never met the guy, I’ve, that’s, that’s a bucket list thing, to meet Jordan Peterson…

F:To meet Jordan Peterson?

D:Yeah, and actually have him on a podcast

F:Can I be on a fly , be a fly on your shoulder

D:If, If I could have him on a podcast that would actually be more amazing too, but yeah, ok (laughter)

F: (laughter)

D:Uh, that’s a lot

F:So we’re really gonna talk about this…

D:I mean, yeah

F:Church, religion

D:Why…

F:Hello listeners…

D:Why go to church was the question…

F:Right. And actually it wasn’t why do you go to church, He then changes it…the real question is why should you

D:Yeah, Yeah, so, that was Jordan Peterson, he says why should you…um…here’s the thing: Everybody needs a belief system.

(1:42)

F:Of some sort, yes

D:Doesn’t necessarily mean, um you need to be religious…He’s trying very hard…

F:Yes, he is

D:Guys, we have a dog in the room while we are recording and he literally thinks that we should be playing with him all the time. He feels very neglected, but, yeah, anyway, we digress…Back to, but I mean, so,

F:And, And that belief system it, it, it obviously varies

D:Well, ok, so for me…I was raised in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, not in Utah, Now, we are recording this while we are in Utah, but I was raised in that church. So, I, I know a lot of people , I got friends and relatives, that are baptist ministers, Methodist ministers, um, you know, you name it, and I can say growing up in the church outside of Utah is different.

F:I will agree with that because I, too, was raised in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, but in Arizona.

D:OK

F:I mean my, my…

D:Different dynamic, different paradigm though

F:Exactly

D:Because you do, even in Arizona you do have a little bit of the runoff, my opinion, you correct me if I am wrong on this, you have, you have the runoff of, um, you’re close to Utah, so there is a bleed off of the bubble, if you will

F:Correct, the Mesa, the Mesa Arizona area

D:OK

F:I guess

D:Where me…people look at ya and they’re like ‘You, You’re part of that cult, OK

F:I never got that, so I’m ok

D: (laughter) Right, because growing up in the Bible Belt, that’s what you get, you get this is God, this is Jesus, this is how it’s all done, and without this you are gonna go to hell…

Preface

(0:00) (Audience laughing in the background) “What happens if you say that and someone gets offended? Well, they can be offended. What’s wrong with being offended? When did ‘sticks and stones may break my bones’ stop being relevant?”

-Steve Hughes

(Theme music plays, pencil scratching in the background)

in a whispered tone P: Transcripts

D: There we go

F:Are you offended?

D: (laughing) I don’t get offended

F: (laughing) Hey, so that’s Devin over there

D: And this is Justin F

F: (Whispered) That’s right

D:We focus on the F. F stands for focus

F:Sometimes. Sometimes other people use it for other words, and guess what…I, I actually got offended

D:Well…

F:Because I was younger and a little, a little less wiser than now

D:That’s a choice

F:I’ve learned that now

D:Yeah, well

F:Actually I learned that awhile ago, but

D:It happens

F:because, quite frankly, I don’t give an F

D:Very true

F:I keep it for myself

D:You should

F:That’s right

D:The F is yours, no one else’s

F:It’s just an F

D:Just an F…Anyway, welcome to Transcripts everybody! This is the Preface. It is.

(1:20)

F:It is the beginnings of where we came from, why we are here, and what you are about to get…

D:So, what we are, we are, technically I’m, I’m gonna call this a book, it’s a , I guess it is a podcast but I am gonna call it a book

F:Sure, is this like an anthology kinda…no, I, I mean thats in, that’s in music, sorry

D:Could be, I guess, if you want to consider it that way, but I mean, ugh, this is the ramblings of a madman with his best friend (scoffs and laughs) Well the thing is, is so…

F:(laughing) So who’s the madman and who’s the best friend?

D:Yes, that is where I was going with that one…well, I mean, so, so what this is, this is simple, this is a…audio version of the book, I guess we will call it that way, where, but it is uncut, it is unedited, it is what it is…

F:It’s raw

(2:04)

D:…and we discuss the things that piss people off, and make people feel good, and discuss the things that give people the opportunity to better their lives and think, maybe, their truth is not actually truth

F:Exactly, and, and it is not one of those things, we’re not, we’re not seeking to piss people off. We are seeking to provide more of the education that we have received

D:Well, and, and that’s what it comes down to, it’s all about education and I think that is where we have gone wrong in our country and have gone in our world. Everybody wants to say things, and…make their…everyone wants to be validated, and they, when they wanna be, but they also want their validation to be the end of everything

F: Well, and they are also seeking to have their validation be for their manner of thinking

D: Well, if we disagree, we just disagree

F: Correct

D: And we can still be friends, we can still talk about things, but that’s, that’s where we’ve I think as a society we have forgotten, and I think that’s what this whole Transcripts thing is where it is coming into play.

F:And I agree, and the, the thing to think about is, kind of, so, yeah, in a, in a nutshell kind of thing, and we’re not on video so you can’t see us in a nutshell

D:That’s coming, That’s coming

F:Oh, That’s coming

D:But not the nutshell, the video part

F:laughing…um, where did you come to get to this point

D:I’m an old fart

F:No,…(laughing)

D:(Laughing)

F:You can’t say that because I am older than you

D:Well, so…that means you are an ancient fart

(3:41)

F:Whew…that gives me more value…ancient versus

Learning to move forward and not dwell on the past is an essential aspect of personal growth and emotional well-being. While reflecting on the past can provide valuable lessons and insights, it is important to strike a balance and avoid getting trapped in a cycle of rumination and regret. Here are some reasons why it is beneficial to focus on moving forward:

  1. Embracing the present: The past is a collection of experiences and memories, but it does not define who we are in the present. By letting go of the past, we can fully immerse ourselves in the present moment, appreciating the opportunities and joys that exist right now. Dwelling on the past robs us of the chance to experience life's beauty in the present.
  2. Emotional well-being: Continuously reliving negative experiences or mistakes from the past can lead to emotional distress, such as anxiety, guilt, and sadness. It can create a cycle of negative thoughts and emotions that hinder personal growth and happiness. Moving forward allows us to break free from the grip of negative emotions and create a more positive and fulfilling future.
  3. Growth and self-improvement: Rather than dwelling on past mistakes or missed opportunities, focusing on moving forward enables personal growth and self-improvement. By learning from past experiences, we can identify areas for development, set new goals, and work towards creating a better future. Embracing growth and progress empowers us to evolve into our best selves.
  4. Creating new opportunities: When we are fixated on the past, we may miss out on new opportunities that present themselves in the present. By letting go and moving forward, we open ourselves up to fresh possibilities and allow ourselves to explore new paths. It is through forward momentum that we can discover new passions, forge new relationships, and seize promising opportunities.
  5. Finding forgiveness and healing: Dwelling on past grievances or holding onto grudges can be detrimental to our emotional well-being. Moving forward involves practicing forgiveness, both towards others and ourselves. It allows us to let go of resentment, promote healing, and create space for positive relationships and personal contentment.

Moving forward does not mean disregarding or forgetting the past. Instead, it involves acknowledging and learning from it while consciously choosing to focus on the present and future. It requires self-reflection, acceptance, and a commitment to personal growth. By embracing the opportunities that lie ahead and releasing the burdens of the past, we can cultivate a more fulfilling and joyful life.

The human desire to be awesome is deeply ingrained in our nature. We are driven by an inherent need to stand out, excel, and make a significant impact on the world around us. This longing for greatness can be seen throughout history in various aspects of human life, including personal achievements, social interactions, and professional endeavors. At its core, the need to be awesome is closely tied to our sense of self-worth and fulfillment. When we accomplish something extraordinary or receive recognition for our abilities, it boosts our confidence and validates our existence. Being awesome provides us with a sense of purpose and meaning, elevating our lives above the ordinary and mundane. One of the key factors driving this desire is the human pursuit of self-actualization. According to Maslow's hierarchy of needs, self-actualization represents the highest level of psychological development. It encompasses the realization of one's full potential, including personal growth, self-discovery, and the pursuit of meaningful goals. Being awesome, therefore, is a manifestation of our ongoing journey towards self-actualization.In addition to personal fulfillment, the need to be awesome often extends to our interactions with others. We seek to impress, inspire, or even lead others through our exceptional abilities or achievements. This desire for social recognition and admiration can be found in various domains, such as sports, entertainment, entrepreneurship, or scientific breakthroughs. By being awesome, individuals strive to leave a lasting impact on society and be remembered for their contributions. The modern world with its rapid advancements and global connectivity has further amplified the need to be awesome. Social media platforms, for instance, provide individuals with an unprecedented opportunity to showcase their accomplishments and gain widespread recognition. Likes, followers, and shares have become a form of social currency, driving people to curate an impressive online presence and cultivate an image of awesomeness. However, it is important to note that the pursuit of awesomeness should be balanced with authenticity and genuine self-expression. The pressure to constantly prove one's greatness can lead to a relentless pursuit of external validation, which may result in burnout, anxiety, or a distorted self-perception. It is essential to find a healthy balance between striving for personal growth and appreciating the value of humility and contentment.Ultimately, the need to be awesome is an inherent part of human nature. It drives us to push beyond our limits, explore our potential, and make meaningful contributions to the world. When channeled effectively, this desire can lead to personal growth, innovation, and positive change. However, it is crucial to remember that true awesomeness lies not only in individual achievements but also in fostering empathy, compassion, and collective well-being.--- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/theyoungbloods/messageSupport this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/theyoungbloods/support

Accountability Transcends Skin Color: Fostering a Fair and Just Society

In our pursuit of a fair and just society, it is imperative to recognize that true equality goes beyond the color of one's skin. Embracing accountability as a guiding principle can help us move away from a system that unfairly privileges certain racial groups. In this article, we will explore how accountability should be prioritized over skin color, highlighting the importance of personal responsibility, meritocracy, and equal opportunities for all individuals.

Embracing Personal Responsibility:

Accountability starts with individuals taking ownership of their actions and decisions. Regardless of race, each person should be held responsible for their behavior and its consequences. By emphasizing personal responsibility, we promote a culture of integrity, self-reflection, and growth, encouraging individuals to actively contribute to a better society.

Advancing Meritocracy:

Meritocracy is a system that values individual achievements, skills, and qualifications over factors such as race or background. By embracing meritocracy, we create a society where people are rewarded based on their abilities and contributions, rather than inherited privileges or biases. Meritocracy promotes fairness, allowing everyone to have equal opportunities to succeed and thrive.

Equal Opportunities for All:

Accountability demands that we actively work towards eliminating systemic barriers that hinder equal opportunities. It requires creating an inclusive environment where everyone, regardless of their skin color, has access to quality education, healthcare, employment, and other essential resources. By dismantling systemic inequalities, we enable individuals to fulfill their potential based on their capabilities, rather than their racial background.

Addressing Implicit Biases:

Acknowledging and addressing implicit biases is crucial in fostering accountability. These biases, often unconscious, can influence judgments, decisions, and behaviors towards individuals of different races. By promoting awareness, education, and self-reflection, we can challenge and overcome these biases, creating a more inclusive and just society that values individuals for their character, abilities, and achievements.

Promoting Dialogue and Understanding:

Open and honest dialogue is essential for fostering accountability and breaking down racial barriers. It is important to create spaces where individuals can share their experiences, challenge stereotypes, and engage in meaningful conversations. By fostering understanding and empathy, we can build bridges of trust and work towards a society where skin color does not define opportunities or privileges.

Advocating for Systemic Change:

True accountability requires addressing the root causes of racial disparities within our systems and institutions. It necessitates advocating for systemic changes that promote fairness, justice, and equality for all. This includes reforming policies, addressing discriminatory practices, and promoting diversity and representation in all spheres of society.

Conclusion:

Accountability transcends the color of one's skin. It is a fundamental principle that demands personal responsibility, equal opportunities, and the dismantling of systemic biases and barriers. By prioritizing accountability, we can move towards a society where individuals are valued for their character, actions, and contributions, rather than being judged based on their racial background. Let us strive for a world where accountability takes precedence over skin color, fostering a fair, just, and inclusive society for all.

Every generation brings its own unique characteristics and contributions to society. Generation X, born between the mid-1960s and early 1980s, is often regarded as a generation that embodies qualities that we can all aspire to. In this article, we will explore why Generation X is considered remarkable, focusing on their individuality, resilience, and adaptability. By embracing the values and mindset of Generation X, we can learn valuable lessons that can shape us into better individuals and create a stronger society.

Embracing Individuality:

One of the defining traits of Generation X is their celebration of individuality and independence. Growing up in an era marked by social changes, economic uncertainty, and technological advancements, Generation X learned to be self-reliant and resourceful. They understand the importance of staying true to themselves and pursuing their own paths, irrespective of societal pressures.

In a world that often favors conformity and collective thinking, we can draw inspiration from Generation X's commitment to individuality. By embracing our unique strengths, interests, and perspectives, we foster a diverse and inclusive society that values authenticity and allows everyone to contribute their distinct talents.

Cultivating Resilience:

Generation X faced numerous challenges, including economic recessions, rapid technological advancements, and shifting social dynamics. These experiences cultivated resilience and adaptability within the generation. They learned to navigate uncertainties, bounce back from setbacks, and persevere through difficult times.

In a rapidly changing world, resilience is an essential quality to develop. By embracing the Generation X mindset of resilience, we can better navigate the complexities of life, respond to adversity with resilience, and proactively seek opportunities for growth and personal development.

Balancing Work and Life:

Generation X was the first generation to witness a significant shift in work dynamics, with an increasing number of dual-income households and the rise of the workaholic culture. However, they were also instrumental in redefining work-life balance, emphasizing the importance of quality time with family, self-care, and pursuing passions outside of work.

In a society that often glorifies overwork and burnout, Generation X serves as a reminder that a balanced approach to life is essential for overall well-being. By prioritizing self-care, maintaining healthy boundaries, and creating time for personal fulfillment, we can lead more fulfilling lives and foster healthier relationships with ourselves and others

Embracing Technology Mindfully:

Generation X witnessed the advent of technology and the rise of the digital age. Unlike subsequent generations who grew up immersed in technology, Generation X experienced a transitional phase where they learned to embrace technology while still valuing face-to-face interactions and maintaining a healthy balance between the virtual and real world.

In an era dominated by constant connectivity, Generation X's approach to technology offers valuable insights. By adopting a mindful approach to technology, we can harness its benefits while also prioritizing real-world connections, nurturing meaningful relationships, and preserving our mental well-being.

While every generation has its unique strengths and contributions, Generation X stands out as a model for individuality, resilience, and work-life balance. Embracing the values and mindset of Generation X can guide us in becoming better individuals and fostering a more inclusive and adaptable society.

By celebrating individuality, cultivating resilience, embracing work-life balance, and adopting a mindful approach to technology, we can learn from the lessons of Generation X and apply them in our own lives. Let us appreciate the valuable qualities of Generation X and draw inspiration from their experiences as we navigate the challenges and opportunities of the modern world.

In today's fast-paced and ever-evolving world, it is more crucial than ever to critically examine and challenge societal norms when it comes to raising our children. Society often imposes rigid expectations and norms that can limit our children's potential, hinder their individuality, and compromise their overall well-being. In this blog post, we will explore the importance of redefining our approach to parenting, empowering our children to be their authentic selves, and fostering an environment that encourages growth, resilience, and emotional intelligence.

Society often promotes a homogenous idea of success and happiness, leaving little room for individuality and personal expression. As parents, it is vital to celebrate and embrace our children's unique strengths, interests, and talents. Encouraging them to explore their passions and discover their true selves will not only foster a sense of self-confidence but also empower them to navigate their own path in life.

In a world that often prioritizes academic achievements and material success, the development of emotional intelligence is often overlooked. Emotional intelligence encompasses self-awareness, empathy, and effective communication skills. By nurturing emotional intelligence in our children, we equip them with vital tools to navigate relationships, cope with challenges, and lead a fulfilling life.

Society frequently promotes conformity and discourages questioning or challenging the status quo. However, critical thinking skills are essential for personal growth and societal progress. Encouraging our children to think critically, ask questions, and develop independent thought fosters their ability to make informed decisions, challenge biases, and contribute to positive change.

In a culture that often values instant gratification, it is crucial to teach our children the value of resilience and perseverance. Resilience enables them to face setbacks, overcome obstacles, and bounce back from failure. By teaching them that failure is a natural part of the learning process and that setbacks are opportunities for growth, we empower our children to develop a resilient mindset and a strong sense of determination.

Society's obsession with virtual connections and social media can impede our children's ability to form genuine and meaningful relationships. As parents, we need to encourage face-to-face interactions, teach them empathy, active listening, and effective communication skills. By fostering healthy relationships, our children will develop a strong support system, navigate conflicts peacefully, and cultivate a sense of belonging.

Society often places a heavy emphasis on fixed abilities and innate talents. However, research has shown that a growth mindset, the belief that intelligence and abilities can be developed through effort and practice, is a powerful predictor of success. Encouraging our children to embrace challenges, persevere through failures, and embrace a love for learning will empower them to reach their full potential.

Society's relentless pursuit of productivity and success often neglects the importance of well-being and balance. It is essential to prioritize our children's mental, emotional, and physical health. Teaching them self-care practices, the importance of work-life balance, and the value of downtime will equip them with tools to lead a more fulfilling and balanced life.

As parents, we have the power to challenge societal expectations and raise our children in a way that fosters their individuality, emotional intelligence, critical thinking, resilience, healthy relationships, and well-being. By empowering our children to be their authentic selves, we prepare them for a world that needs compassionate, innovative, and empathetic individuals. Let us strive to redefine the norms, break free from societal constraints, and create a brighter future for our children based on love, acceptance

In the vast and complex game of life, it is time for us to reconsider our reliance on finite rules. Life is an infinite journey filled with constant change, growth, and adaptation. It is a dynamic process that defies rigid boundaries and predetermined outcomes. Instead of imposing strict rules, we should embrace the fluidity and flexibility that life demands.

Finite rules attempt to provide structure and predictability, but they often restrict our potential and hinder our ability to fully explore and experience life's possibilities. Life is not a static game with fixed rules; it is an ever-evolving, open-ended adventure that invites us to be creative, resilient, and adaptable.

By embracing the infinite nature of life, we acknowledge that circumstances, challenges, and opportunities will continuously arise. We understand that there is no one-size-fits-all solution and that what worked yesterday may not work today. Life requires us to be nimble, open-minded, and willing to adapt our strategies as we navigate its complexities.

When we free ourselves from the limitations of finite rules, we open ourselves up to new perspectives, ideas, and approaches. We become more attuned to the subtle nuances of the game, recognizing that there are multiple paths to success and fulfillment. Embracing the infinite game of life means recognizing that there are no ultimate winners or losers, but rather an ongoing process of growth, learning, and self-discovery.

In this infinite game, we can cultivate a mindset of curiosity, exploration, and continuous improvement. We can let go of the fear of failure and embrace the lessons and opportunities that come with taking risks and stepping outside of our comfort zones. By embracing uncertainty and change, we unlock our potential for innovation and personal growth.

Let us liberate ourselves from the constraints of finite rules and instead cultivate a mindset that embraces the infinite game of life. Together, we can navigate the ever-changing landscape with courage, resilience, and an open heart. By doing so, we unlock the vast potential that lies within us and create a life that is rich, fulfilling, and aligned with our truest selves.

The idea of love languages was introduced by Dr. Gary Chapman in his book "The 5 Love Languages". According to Dr. Chapman, people express and receive love in different ways, which he calls "love languages". These love languages are words of affirmation, quality time, receiving gifts, acts of service, and physical touch. Learning your spouse's love language is essential to building a strong and lasting relationship.

One of the most significant benefits of learning your spouse's love language is that it can improve communication in your relationship. When you understand how your partner prefers to receive love, you can communicate your love in a way that resonates with them. For example, if your spouse's love language is words of affirmation, telling them how much you appreciate them or complimenting them on their accomplishments will make them feel loved and valued.

Another benefit of learning your spouse's love language is that it helps to avoid misunderstandings and conflicts. Often, when we communicate love in a way that is not our partner's preferred love language, they may not feel loved or appreciated. This can lead to frustration and misunderstandings, which can eventually turn into conflicts. However, when you understand your spouse's love language, you can avoid these misunderstandings and communicate your love in a way that they understand and appreciate.

Furthermore, learning your spouse's love language can strengthen emotional intimacy in your relationship. Emotional intimacy is crucial to a healthy and fulfilling relationship. When you communicate love in your partner's preferred love language, you create a deep emotional connection that can strengthen the bond between you. This emotional connection can lead to increased trust, respect, and love.

Finally, learning your spouse's love language can enhance the overall quality of your relationship. When you communicate love in your partner's preferred love language, they will feel valued, appreciated, and loved. This can create a positive cycle of giving and receiving love, which can enhance the overall quality of your relationship. When both partners feel loved and valued, they are more likely to invest in their relationship and work together to overcome challenges.

In conclusion, learning your spouse's love language is essential to building a strong and lasting relationship. It can improve communication, avoid misunderstandings and conflicts, strengthen emotional intimacy, and enhance the overall quality of your relationship. By understanding and communicating love in your partner's preferred love language, you can create a deep and meaningful connection that can last a lifetime.

As individuals and as a society, we face many challenges that require us to be strong and resilient. Whether it is coping with personal struggles like illness, financial stress, or relationship problems, or facing broader social issues like inequality, discrimination, or climate change, we need to be able to confront these challenges with courage, determination, and compassion.

To become stronger as people and as a society, we need to take a multifaceted approach that addresses our mental, emotional, physical, and social well-being. Here are some key steps we can take to build our strength and resilience:

First, we need to build resilience. This means developing the mental and emotional toughness to handle life's challenges and setbacks. We can do this by cultivating a growth mindset, which allows us to see failures and mistakes as opportunities for learning and growth, rather than as reflections of our worth. We can also practice self-compassion, which involves treating ourselves with kindness and understanding when we face difficulties. By building resilience, we can become more adaptable and better equipped to handle whatever comes our way.

Second, we need to foster empathy. This means developing the ability to see things from other people's perspectives and to feel compassion and concern for their well-being. We can do this by listening deeply, asking questions, and seeking to understand the experiences and needs of others. We can also engage in acts of kindness and generosity, which help us build connections and strengthen our social bonds. By fostering empathy, we can build a more compassionate and cohesive society, where people feel seen and valued.

Third, we need to practice self-care. This means taking care of our physical and mental health and prioritizing activities that bring us joy and fulfillment. We can do this by engaging in regular exercise, eating healthy foods, getting enough sleep, and engaging in stress-reducing activities like meditation or yoga. By taking care of ourselves, we become more resilient, energized, and better able to face life's challenges.

Fourth, we need to engage in community-building. This means participating in activities that bring us together with others and working collaboratively to address the social and environmental issues that affect us all. We can do this by volunteering, joining community organizations, or participating in political or social movements that align with our values. By engaging in community-building, we can create positive change and build a stronger, more equitable society.

In conclusion, becoming stronger as individuals and as a society requires us to take a holistic approach that addresses our mental, emotional, physical, and social well-being. By building resilience, fostering empathy, practicing self-care, and engaging in community-building, we can develop the strength and resilience to face life's challenges with courage and compassion. Let us commit to this journey of growth and transformation, and work together to build a stronger, more resilient society for all.

In New Hampshire, a woman found herself in a legal battle after she dared to ask about her child's curriculum. The teachers' union sued her for requesting information about the materials used in her child's class, claiming that she was harassing teachers and causing a disturbance.

This incident highlights a growing concern about the lack of transparency and accountability in our education system. Parents have the right to know what their children are learning and to have a say in their education. In fact, it's their responsibility as caregivers to ensure that their child's education aligns with their values and expectations.

The fact that a parent can be sued for asking about the curriculum is alarming and sets a dangerous precedent. It sends a message that parents are not allowed to question what their children are being taught, and that the education system is above scrutiny.

As a society, we need to prioritize transparency and accountability in our education system. Parents should be able to ask questions and receive honest answers without fear of legal retaliation. They should be able to trust that their child's education is in the hands of competent and responsible professionals who have the best interests of the child in mind.

In conclusion, the case of the woman in New Hampshire who was sued for asking about her child's curriculum is a troubling example of the lack of transparency and accountability in our education system. It is essential that parents have the right to ask questions and receive honest answers without fear of legal action. As a society, we must prioritize the education of our children and ensure that the system is held accountable for their development and well-being.

The case of the Arizona woman who stalked and texted a man 65,000 times made headlines across the country, capturing the attention of the public and law enforcement alike. The bizarre and alarming behavior of the woman, whose name has been withheld for privacy reasons, left many people shocked and concerned about the dangers of stalking in the digital age.

The story unfolded in a quiet suburban neighborhood of Phoenix, Arizona. The victim, John (name changed for privacy), a 34-year-old professional, had met the woman, whom he knew from his gym, briefly at a social event. They exchanged phone numbers, but John was not interested in pursuing a relationship with her beyond a casual acquaintance.

However, what started as innocent communication quickly turned into a nightmarish ordeal for John. The woman began sending him a barrage of text messages, initially expressing affection and admiration. But the tone of the messages soon turned obsessive and threatening. She bombarded him with messages throughout the day and night, often sending hundreds of texts in a single day. She also sent explicit and disturbing messages, including threats to harm herself and John if he did not respond to her messages.

As the volume and intensity of the texts escalated, John became increasingly alarmed and fearful for his safety. He tried to ignore the woman and block her phone number, but she continued to find ways to contact him, including creating multiple fake social media accounts to send him messages. She also started showing up at places he frequented, such as his workplace and local coffee shops, leaving him feeling constantly watched and harassed.

Despite John's repeated attempts to distance himself and seek help from law enforcement, the woman persisted in her stalking behavior. Over the course of several months, she sent John an estimated 65,000 text messages, averaging more than 700 messages per day. Her relentless pursuit of him caused John severe emotional distress, impacted his personal and professional life, and left him in a constant state of fear and anxiety.

Eventually, John sought a restraining order against the woman, and with the help of law enforcement, she was arrested and charged with stalking and harassment. She underwent a psychiatric evaluation and was found to have a history of mental illness, which may have contributed to her obsessive behavior. The case brought attention to the serious and often devastating consequences of stalking, both in person and through digital means, and highlighted the need for effective legal measures to address and prevent such behavior.

The incident serves as a cautionary tale about the dark side of modern technology and the potential for abuse in digital communication. It underscores the importance of setting boundaries, protecting one's privacy, and seeking help if one becomes a victim of stalking or harassment. John's experience also raises awareness about the psychological impact of stalking on victims, and the need for greater understanding, support, and legal action to prevent and address this type of abusive behavior. In the end, John's courage in speaking up and taking legal action against his stalker serves as a reminder that stalking is a serious crime that should never be tolerated or ignored. Whether it's through traditional means or in the digital realm, stalking is a violation of personal boundaries and can have serious and lasting effects on the victim's mental health and well-being. It is crucial for individuals to seek help and take legal action if they become victims of stalking, and for society to raise awareness and take steps to prevent such behavior from occurring in the first place. The case of the Arizona woman who stalked and texted a man 65,000 times serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance in protecting one's personal safety.

The notion that Children are a Burden

Raising children is undoubtedly one of the most challenging and demanding responsibilities a person can undertake. From the moment they are born until they reach adulthood, children require constant care, attention, and guidance. It is a significant undertaking that can be overwhelming at times, but it is one that is ultimately rewarding and fulfilling. Although it can be hard, children are not a burden, and it is worth it in the end.

One of the main reasons why raising children can be hard is the sheer amount of responsibility that comes with it. Children rely on their parents for everything, from basic necessities like food and shelter to emotional support and guidance. Parents must be vigilant in their care, ensuring that their children are healthy, safe, and happy at all times. This can be exhausting, and it requires a great deal of time and effort.

Additionally, children can be unpredictable and challenging to manage. They may throw tantrums, refuse to cooperate, or act out in ways that are difficult to understand. Parents must navigate these challenges with patience and understanding, always keeping their children's best interests in mind. This can be a daunting task, and it requires a great deal of emotional resilience.

Despite these challenges, raising children is not a burden. Children bring joy, laughter, and love to their parents' lives. They provide a sense of purpose and fulfillment that cannot be found anywhere else. Children are a source of pride and satisfaction, as parents watch them grow and develop into independent, responsible, and caring adults.

Moreover, children teach their parents valuable life lessons, such as patience, forgiveness, and empathy. Through their interactions with their children, parents learn to put their needs aside and prioritize their children's well-being. They learn to be selfless and to make sacrifices for the sake of their children. These lessons are invaluable and can benefit parents in other areas of their lives.

In conclusion, raising children can be hard, but they are not a burden. The rewards of raising children far outweigh the challenges. Parents must be patient, dedicated, and willing to make sacrifices for their children's sake. Children bring joy, love, and a sense of purpose to their parents' lives, and they teach their parents valuable life lessons. Therefore, parents should embrace the challenges of parenting and enjoy the many rewards that come with raising children.

There is a long-standing debate about whether spanking as a form of discipline is an effective method of teaching children right from wrong. Some people argue that spanking can be an appropriate and necessary form of discipline, while others believe that it is an outdated and harmful practice that should be avoided. In this essay, we will examine the arguments in favor of spanking as a parent and how it can help children know right from wrong.

Firstly, proponents of spanking argue that it is an effective way to discipline children because it creates an immediate consequence for their misbehavior. When a child misbehaves, they are immediately punished through a spanking, and this helps them associate their behavior with a negative consequence. Over time, children learn that certain behaviors are not acceptable, and they will avoid them to avoid punishment. This can help children develop a sense of right and wrong as they learn to associate negative consequences with negative behavior.

Furthermore, spanking as a form of discipline can be seen as a way to teach children respect and obedience. By spanking a child when they misbehave, parents can demonstrate that they are in control and that there are consequences for negative behavior. This can help children understand that there are rules and boundaries that must be respected, and that obedience is important. By teaching children to be obedient and respectful, parents can help them develop a sense of morality that will guide them as they grow older.

Moreover, spanking as a form of discipline can be seen as a way to teach children about responsibility. When a child misbehaves and is spanked, they are held responsible for their actions. This can help children understand that their behavior has consequences, and that they must take responsibility for their actions. By teaching children to be responsible for their behavior, parents can help them develop a sense of accountability that will guide them throughout their lives.

However, it is important to note that spanking as a form of discipline is not without its drawbacks. Opponents of spanking argue that it can be harmful to a child's emotional and mental well-being. Spanking can cause physical pain and emotional distress, and can lead to feelings of fear and anxiety in children. Additionally, spanking can be seen as a form of violence, which can lead children to believe that violence is an acceptable way to solve problems.

In conclusion, spanking as a form of discipline can be an effective way to teach children right from wrong. It creates an immediate consequence for negative behavior, teaches children respect and obedience, and helps them develop a sense of responsibility. However, it is important for parents to consider the potential drawbacks of spanking, including the emotional and mental harm that it can cause. Ultimately, the decision to use spanking as a form of discipline should be based on each individual child's needs and temperament, and should be done in a way that is loving and compassionate.

When creating a resume, it is important to be mindful of the language and words used in order to convey a professional and polished image. One common mistake that many job seekers make is using pronouns on their resumes.

Using pronouns such as "I," "me," or "my" can make the resume sound more casual and personal, which is not the desired tone for a professional document. Additionally, using pronouns can take up valuable space on the resume and make it appear cluttered and unprofessional.

Instead of using pronouns, it is recommended to use bullet points and action verbs to highlight achievements and skills. For example, instead of saying "I managed a team of five people," you could say "Managed a team of five people to successfully complete a project on time and within budget."

By avoiding the use of pronouns, the resume becomes more objective and focused on the accomplishments and skills of the job seeker, rather than their personal opinions or beliefs. This helps to create a more professional and effective document that is more likely to capture the attention of hiring managers and lead to job opportunities.

In summary, it is important to avoid the use of pronouns on a resume in order to create a professional and objective document that highlights the achievements and skills of the job seeker. By using bullet points and action verbs, the resume can effectively showcase the candidate's qualifications and increase their chances of landing their dream job.

Education is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. It shapes the way they think, act, and perceive the world around them. In modern times, schools have been the primary source of education for children. However, over the years, there has been a growing concern that the quality of education taught in schools has gone down. In this podcast, we will explore the reasons behind this phenomenon and its implications for the future.

One of the primary reasons why the quality of education taught in schools has gone down is the lack of funding. In many cases, schools do not receive adequate funding from the government, which makes it difficult for them to hire qualified teachers, provide the necessary resources, and maintain the infrastructure. This lack of resources can lead to overcrowded classrooms, outdated teaching materials, and inadequate facilities, which can impact the quality of education.

Another reason for the decline in the quality of education taught in schools is the lack of teacher training. Many teachers are not adequately trained to teach the subjects they are assigned to, which can lead to a lack of understanding among students. Moreover, the absence of regular professional development opportunities for teachers can also impact their ability to keep up with the latest teaching methods and technologies.

The focus on standardized testing is another factor that has contributed to the decline in the quality of education taught in schools. In recent years, schools have increasingly placed emphasis on preparing students for standardized tests rather than teaching them practical skills and critical thinking. This approach can limit the students' ability to think creatively, solve problems, and learn at their own pace.

Moreover, the lack of student engagement is another reason why the quality of education taught in schools has gone down. In many cases, students are not motivated to learn because the curriculum does not appeal to their interests or is not relevant to their daily lives. As a result, they may become disengaged, which can impact their academic performance.

The decline in the quality of education taught in schools can have significant implications for the future. If students are not adequately prepared for the workforce, they may struggle to find employment and contribute to society. Moreover, a lack of education can lead to increased poverty, crime, and social inequality.

In conclusion, the quality of education taught in schools has gone down in recent years due to several factors, including a lack of funding, teacher training, standardized testing, and student engagement. 309 The value of the right spouse and how it leads to success!

Finding the right spouse can be one of the most important decisions a person makes in their life. A strong, supportive partnership can provide a foundation for happiness, fulfillment, and personal growth. However, choosing the wrong partner can lead to feelings of loneliness, dissatisfaction, and even heartbreak.

In this podcast, we will explore the key factors that contribute to finding the right spouse, as discussed by hosts Devin and Shannon Youngblood on their podcast. Specifically, we will examine the importance of the woman a man chooses to be his spouse, impulse control, and the thoughts that occupy our minds.

  1. The woman a man chooses to be his spouse

According to Devin and Shannon Youngblood, the woman a man chooses to be his spouse is one of the most important factors in building a successful marriage. They stress the importance of finding a partner who shares your values, goals, and interests, and who is a supportive and loving partner.

This means taking the time to get to know a potential partner, and evaluating whether they have the qualities you are looking for in a spouse. It also means being honest with yourself about what you want in a relationship and not settling for less.

  1. Impulse control

Another important factor in finding the right spouse is impulse control. Devin and Shannon Youngblood stress the importance of developing self-control and making thoughtful decisions in the context of a partnership.

This means taking the time to think through your actions and decisions, and considering how they will impact your partner and your relationship. It also means being willing to make compromises and sacrifices for the sake of your partnership.

  1. The thoughts that occupy our minds

Finally, Devin and Shannon Youngblood emphasize the power of thoughts and how they can shape our relationships. They discuss the importance of cultivating a positive mindset and avoiding negative thought patterns that can damage a marriage.

This means being aware of your thoughts and actively working to cultivate a positive outlook. It also means being willing to communicate openly and honestly with your partner about your feelings and concerns.

In conclusion, finding the right spouse is one of the most important decisions a person can make in their life. By prioritizing the woman a man chooses to be his spouse, developing impulse control, and cultivating a positive mindset, individuals can build strong, healthy, and fulfilling relationships. Whether you are single and searching for love, or already in a relationship and seeking to strengthen your bond, these principles can provide valuable guidance on the journey towards a happy and successful marriage.

Welcome to today's episode of the podcast, where we will be discussing the topic of how finding the right wife can impact a man's ability to be successful.

For many men, the search for success is a lifelong pursuit. From building a successful career to achieving financial stability and personal fulfillment, there are many factors that contribute to one's success. However, one factor that is often overlooked is the impact that a man's partner can have on his ability to achieve his goals.

Research has shown that having a supportive and loving partner can have a positive impact on a man's mental and emotional well-being. A man who feels loved and supported by his wife is more likely to have the confidence and motivation to pursue his goals and take risks.

Furthermore, a supportive wife can also help to alleviate the stress and pressure that often come with striving for success. When a man has a partner who is willing to share in his successes and failures, he is less likely to feel isolated or overwhelmed by the challenges he faces.

On the other hand, a negative or unsupportive partner can have the opposite effect. A man who is constantly criticized or belittled by his wife may struggle to find the motivation and confidence he needs to succeed. Additionally, a partner who is not invested in their husband's success may even actively undermine his efforts.

In this episode, we will explore the importance of finding the right wife and the impact that a supportive and loving partner can have on a man's ability to achieve his goals. We will discuss the characteristics to look for in a partner, how to navigate challenges in a marriage, and the benefits of a healthy and supportive relationship.

So if you're a man who is looking to achieve success in all areas of your life, tune in to this episode and discover how finding the right wife can help you reach your goals.

Kim Kardashian is a well-known reality TV star, socialite, and businesswoman who has built a massive following for herself through her various ventures. Recently, she sparked controversy when she commented on the struggles faced by everyday people during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In an interview with David Letterman on his Netflix show, My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, Kardashian said that she believed people should work harder if they wanted to achieve success. She argued that while the pandemic had been difficult for many people, it was also an opportunity for them to reevaluate their priorities and work towards their goals.

While some viewers may have taken Kardashian's comments as a call to action, others saw them as insensitive and out of touch with the reality of the situation. After all, many people have lost their jobs, businesses, and even loved ones during the pandemic, and it's not as simple as just working harder to overcome these challenges.

Kardashian's comments also reflect a larger societal belief that success is solely a result of hard work and determination. While these qualities are certainly important, they do not account for other factors such as privilege, luck, and systemic barriers that prevent certain groups from achieving success.

Moreover, Kardashian's own success has been shaped by factors outside of her control, such as her family's wealth and connections. While she undoubtedly works hard on her various businesses and projects, it's important to acknowledge the role that privilege has played in her success.

Ultimately, Kardashian's comments serve as a reminder of the need for empathy and understanding during difficult times. While hard work is certainly important, it's not a panacea for all of life's challenges, and it's important to acknowledge the ways in which systemic inequalities can impact individuals' ability to achieve success.

As a society, we should strive to create a more equitable and just world where everyone has access to the resources and opportunities they need to thrive. This means recognizing and addressing the systemic barriers that prevent certain groups from achieving success, and working towards creating a more level playing field for everyone.

In conclusion, while Kardashian's comments may have been controversial, they serve as a reminder of the need for empathy and understanding during difficult times. While hard work is important, it's not the only factor that determines success, and we should work towards creating a more equitable and just society where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.

For those who grew up in the 90s, it was a time of change, growth, and excitement.

One of the most significant changes that took place in the 90s was the emergence of new technologies. The internet became widely available, and personal computers became more common. This paved the way for a new era of communication and information sharing. For the first time, people could connect with others from around the world and access information at the touch of a button.

The 90s was also a time of significant musical evolution. The decade saw the rise of new musical genres such as grunge, hip hop, and techno. Bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden paved the way for the grunge movement, while artists like Dr. Dre, Tupac, and Notorious B.I.G. dominated the hip hop scene. Electronic dance music (EDM) also emerged in the 90s, with artists like The Chemical Brothers and Daft Punk leading the way.

Popular culture in the 90s was characterized by a focus on youth and individuality. The rise of MTV and the popularity of music videos meant that music and fashion became more closely intertwined. Fashion trends of the 90s were unique and memorable, with neon colors, baggy clothes, and platform shoes dominating the scene.

For many people who grew up in the 90s, the decade holds a special place in their hearts. It was a time of change, growth, and excitement. It was a time when the world seemed to be full of endless possibilities, and anything was possible. The 90s saw the birth of popular culture as we know it today, and it will always hold a special place in the hearts of those who lived through it.

In conclusion, growing up in the 90s was a unique experience that will always hold a special place in the hearts of those who lived through it. Paternity testing, which involves the analysis of genetic material to confirm the biological relationship between a man and a child, is becoming increasingly popular among parents. While paternity testing was once a controversial topic, it has now become a routine procedure in many countries, including the United States. In this article, we will discuss why paternity testing should be a standard practice when children are born.

Firstly, paternity testing provides accurate information about the biological relationship between a father and a child. This information can be used for legal, financial, and emotional purposes. For example, a man who is unsure whether he is the biological father of a child may wish to have a paternity test to determine whether he has any legal rights and responsibilities regarding the child. Similarly, a mother who is unsure about the paternity of her child may wish to have a paternity test to provide closure and to establish paternity for legal and emotional reasons.

Secondly, paternity testing can prevent legal and financial complications that may arise if paternity is not established. If paternity is not established, the biological father may not be held legally responsible for child support, and the child may not be eligible for certain legal benefits, such as inheritance or medical insurance. In addition, not knowing who the biological father is can cause emotional turmoil for the child and the family.

Thirdly, paternity testing can be performed quickly and easily. Advances in technology have made paternity testing a simple and non-invasive procedure that can be completed within a few days. The testing is typically performed by collecting a sample of DNA from the father, mother, and child using a cheek swab, and then analyzing the DNA to determine paternity. This means that paternity testing can be done at any time, and does not require any special preparation or medical procedures.

In conclusion, paternity testing should be a standard practice when children are born. It provides accurate information about the biological relationship between a father and a child, and can prevent legal and financial complications that may arise if paternity is not established. Furthermore, paternity testing is a quick and easy procedure that can be done at any time, making it a valuable tool for parents and families. By making paternity testing a standard practice, we can ensure that children have access to the legal and emotional benefits that come with establishing paternity, and that families have the information they need to make informed decisions about their lives.

A healthy and fulfilling relationship requires a balance of multiple elements, including emotional intimacy, communication, trust, respect, shared values, and physical intimacy. It is important for each individual in the relationship to prioritize their own needs and for the couple to have open and honest discussions about what is important to them in order to maintain a healthy and satisfying relationship.

It is also important to note that sexual intimacy may not be a priority for every couple, and this does not necessarily indicate a lack of love or commitment. It is essential for individuals and couples to understand and respect each other's needs, boundaries, and preferences in order to have a healthy and fulfilling relationship.

In conclusion, while sexual intimacy can play an important role in a marriage, it is not the only factor and should not be elevated above all others. A healthy and fulfilling relationship requires a balance of multiple elements, including emotional intimacy, communication, trust, and respect.

Everyone has a "nemesis" within them - a voice that tells them they're not good enough, that they can't accomplish something, or that they're not worthy of happiness. This inner critic can be incredibly damaging and can hold us back from living the life we want. But the good news is, there are ways to fight this inner nemesis and take back control of your life.
First and foremost, it's important to recognize that this inner critic is not your true self. It may feel like it is, but it's simply a voice in your head that has been formed by past experiences and negative thoughts. Once you recognize that this voice is not you, it becomes easier to separate yourself from it and not take its words to heart.
Next, try to understand where this inner critic is coming from. Think about past experiences that may have shaped your negative thoughts and beliefs. Once you understand the root cause of these thoughts, you can start to challenge them and replace them with more positive and empowering beliefs.
Another effective way to fight your inner nemesis is to practice mindfulness. Mindfulness is the practice of being present in the moment and not getting caught up in negative thoughts or worries about the past or future. When you're mindful, you're better able to recognize when your inner critic is speaking and can choose not to listen to it.
Finally, surround yourself with positive and supportive people. Having a strong support system can help you to see things in a more positive light and can give you the encouragement you need to overcome your inner critic.
It's important to remember that fighting your inner nemesis is a process and it takes time and practice. But with the right tools and mindset, you can overcome this inner critic and live the life you want.

Hugs are one of the most simple yet powerful forms of human connection. They can provide comfort, support, and a sense of belonging. In fact, scientific research has shown that hugs can have a variety of physical and emotional benefits for both the giver and the receiver.
One of the most obvious benefits of hugs is that they can reduce stress. When we hug someone, our bodies release oxytocin, also known as the "cuddle hormone," which can lower our levels of the stress hormone cortisol. This can lead to a reduction in anxiety, depression, and overall feelings of stress. Hugs can also increase feelings of happiness, trust, and bonding.
Hugs can also have physical benefits. When we hug someone, we're also providing a form of touch therapy. Touch is essential for our physical and emotional well-being, and studies have shown that touch can lower blood pressure, improve immune function, and even reduce pain.
Hugs can also be a powerful tool for building and maintaining relationships. They can help to strengthen bonds between family members and friends, and can also be used to build trust and intimacy in romantic relationships. A hug can be an important way of expressing love, gratitude, and empathy.
It's important to note that hugs are not only beneficial for adults, but also for children. Children who receive regular hugs and physical touch tend to have better emotional and social development, as well as better physical health.
In conclusion, hugs are a simple yet powerful way of connecting with others and can provide a wide range of physical and emotional benefits. They can help to reduce stress, improve physical health, and strengthen relationships. So next time you have the opportunity, don't hesitate to give and receive a hug

I don’t want to say to much about this blog, because it’s just a great one to listen to about what it take to be a plastic surgeon. People seem to get the wrong idea on what someone chooses this profession. It was easy for Dr. Howland one day while sitting in class at the University of Utah and his biology teacher gave an example of how putting a bandaid on something heals it…  and it clicked, that helping people is what he wanted to do in the medical field. SOme say surgeons are good for what they do, some say they are bad, make people, especially women look like something they shouldn’t For instance, Someone asked me If I was getting my augmentation for my husband, my response was true.. “NO, I’m doing it for me, because I feel self conscious with my looks” and really, it’s made me feel better about my body. Sitting down with Dr. Howland and speaking with him was like sitting down with the Van Gogh of the body.  It takes someone who can look at someone and truly give an honest opinion on your wants and needs.  He’s worked on Cheiloplasty, a cleft lip repair. and his hardest was a surgery for a new jaw… You will definitely have to listen to the podcast for how that’s done, it’s so incredible. Before pursuing his undergraduate degree at the University of Utah, Nicholas Howland successfully fulfilled a 2-year church mission to St. Petersburg, Russia. During that time, Dr. Howland was selected as the lead interpreter and coordinator for volunteer efforts in the world-renowned Hermitage Museum. This volunteer effort was during the 300-year celebration of the founding of St. Petersburg as a city, and Dr. Howland further developed a profound love and appreciation for art and the human form as he gave countless tours of the museum. A graduate of the University of Utah, he graduated cum laude with a degree in Business Administration and minors in Chemistry and Russian Literature. This was on top of the difficult pre-med pathway. He was early accepted into medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. Recently, Dr. Howland along with his 2 children and his girl friends 3 children planned a surprise for Penny, his girlfriend.  Taking a trip up the West coast,  picking out the best spots to ask Penny to be his wife.  I don’t want to  ruin how that went, so you will have to listen to the podcast. Really, I could go on about how amazing Nicholas Howland is. How he gave me back confiance after having 5 kids. How he respects his patients or just how genuine he AND his staff is to everyone who comes in. If you’re looking  or thinking about getting any work done, and you live in Utah, visit him! https://howlandplasticsurgery.com/

Another school year has come to an end. For that, it’s time for another one of our children to graduate. I ask myself almost daily, “ when did my kids grow up “ ? It’s sad to think that my children are not the little kids they use to be. They don’t want me to push them on a swing, chase them or tickle them and hear the little laugh as they can’t help bet be a hostage to me yelling “ Tickle Monster” ..: but I guess all fun and games must come to an end. Jacob graduates on June 3rd. and unlike Parris, Jacob actually gets to walk and have a ceremony for his graduation. Last year, Parris was cheated out of her graduation ceremony and not able to walk thanks to the wonderful virus that will not be mentioned. So, even with Jacob being the 2nd. one to graduate, this is all new to us. The cap and gown, listening to the valedictorians give speeches and wait 2 hours to hear Jacob’s name called. ( you know, because our last name starts with a Y and his class has 100’s of kids graduating) This senior year was hard. Not just for Jacob, but for all seniors. With the “pandemic “ happening, it seems not many kids were motivated to do anything. You had the option to go to in learning classes if your grades were good, or you could stay home and do your work remotely. That’s where the “laziness” can in. It was hard to get him out of bed, he’s stay up late and just not care! Found out 1/2 way through the school year he had a few packets to do and that’s where I because a mama bear. Making sure they were complete. Making sure work was turned in. Making sure he got enough class time so he didn’t have to do attendance school… and I’m going to say it… if I didn’t do all the nagging and pushing, he would not have graduated on time with his class… and what is really crazy, is that the kid is smart! He got all A’s … so pushing him like that was not only exhausting, it was dumb because it was over pure laziness. Jacob is planning on serving a mission for our church. He also wants to go to college at BYU in Hawaii. He’s working a full time job on top of training for Nationals for rugby. Busy kid! Needless to say, Devin and I are very proud of our kids. Making it through 2 crazy school years with all the crap going on, changes in the school system happening and managing to finish what’s important to move onto the next chapter of life.

Side hustles are a priority when it comes to making a living. We do our fair share of them, from last year making Yardzee games to even this podcast. Making side money is essential.

Years ago I bought 75 violins and violas. Shannon was un aware of this purchase till they showed up at the door. All boxed up with extra strings, tuner and case. We had then everywhere, under the beds in closets everywhere. Shannon wasn’t a fan of the purchase but once she saw the cost paired back she was excited, especially since we made triple off of what I paid.

when it comes to buying things wholesale I’m no stranger to this either. I have imported my fair share of things and when it comes to buying from places that sale mystery packages I have done that too.

brings us to my most recent purchase it’s from a website called Wibargains.com. Wibargains claims “Each box contains between 10-12 mixed items that are home, kitchen, tools, electronics or other general merchandise.

Some boxes we will include 1 surprise BONUS item worth over $200 MSRP. ”

They of course want you to post about them especially if you get the said $200 value item. But as we do we will post anyway. We were let down when it comes to our box.. mainly because it didn’t hold up to what they said it would do. They claimed a premium Amazon box like what we ordered will come with 10-12 items. Ours came with 5. Yes five items. Then what we got wasn’t even close to what we paid for, retail value even though they say it is based off of new retail.

I reached out to them let’s see what they have to say about their product. Update coming soon.

Devin and Shannon Sit down with Courtney Earl.

We had the privilege to sit down with Courtney Earl last week and talk about her! You know what? She’s pretty amazing!

Courtney is a mom, wife, teacher and just because, she has opened up her home to kids to learn. She loves all things art and has made time out of her busy schedule to teach kids out of her home. On top of art, she really loves to make it fun for the kids. She includes story time. In my mind, I think of it as a mini Summer Camp for kids to go to a few times a week… although learning about art, she has the kids dig into their imagination and draw what they are feeling! That to me is really neat AND you get to know what the child is thinking and how they are feeling.

We have asked about art classes for older kids… well, not really older, but our son, Ethan loves art. He really loves to draw and color, use pastels and loves drawing with outdoor chalk. This is something that I think is right up Ethans alley. He can express hisself. What mood is he in? What is he thinking? What creativeness can he take out on that paper without mom looking over his shoulder asking “Watcha drawing”

We decided that when Courtneys summer classes open up, Ethan will be going.

Parenting is hard and sucks but it’s just something that has to be done. No matter now m any kids you have it could be 1 to 50 it comes with it’s challenges. But you have to do your best. Parenting is worth it in the end. You don’t always like your kids but you do need to love them.

Inspiration comes from all kinds of places. the amazing thing is with all these many different places inspiration can come fryour pet, yes I said that i said your pet. om you would think it would come from When Shannon reads this she will think im a huge softy because i pretend not to like our dog. But when you have a pet like Bentley. As i am writing this Bently is trying to climb on the couch and licking Logans hand like it is candy. yeah that isnt the Inspiring part um Gross hahaha.

Bentley is inspiring because no matter what he tries to talk to us and tell us what he wants. He is by far the most vocal dog we have ever had. when he needs to go out he comes over to us and tries his hardest to tell us he needs to go out.

It’s pretty amazing when a pet can be completely annoying attempt to talk to us and inspire us to for things like to keep going his persistence is outstanding. He thinks he is telling us something although he isnt speaking english there seems to be some kind of connection that we do know what he is actually saying.

He is funny. he comes up to us when he needs attention and tries to talk . it all comes out as growls and barks but he tries. He even has tried to say I love you. yes he has done pretty well at this.

But now that i have talked how our dog inspires us here is a podcast with Keith Mattix a man that provides inspiration of his own for the masses.

Today is surgery day! Did I eat? NO! Why? Because I didn’t get up when Devin’s alarm went off! I had the chance to eat, but did not! Totally Bummed out! I wasn’t supposed to eat anything past 5:30am due to surgery being at 1:30 pm. I am STARVING!!!!! Get me a Swig and a Jersey Mikes sub ASAP! hahaha… In all seriousness, I am hungry, but will be ok!  I’ll just watch everyone else eat. Nerves are kicking in. I have to remember to take my pre pain Rx. and a Tylenol so it eases the pain when I wake up from surgery. ( Ohhh, I get to have a sip of water when I take my medicine ) . I have my button down shirt ready to wear home, comfy pants on, hair washed! I know I won’t be able to wash my hair on my own for a week or so, so need clean hair the day of! Had to wash with “special” soap that the nurses gave me. I guess it helps with pre-opp stuff. Wasn’t the best smelling… and to top it off, I can’t wear deodorant today…..  SO. GROSS! Anywho, I’ve done all I can… I’m ready to “go under the knife” and get my boobs I’ve been wanting! Nervous, but excited! Stay tuned for post-opp pictures, how I’m recovering and what it’s really like!

It’s not often that you get a chance to sit down with your father and record a podcast with him. Especially since we live over 2000 miles away from either one of our parents. So, When we knew we were heading to Alabama, Devin got a great idea to bring his podcasting equipment so he could sit down with his dad and record stories.

This is definitely something Devin will cherish. It’s not just the stories, but the time of the two of them sitting down, laughing over these stories…. because really, they are good and they are funny.

What a Week it has been! It seems after a trip it is always to catch up . there is always a lot to do and you dont seem to have the time to get it all done. That is this week. from the minute we got back we had a list a mile long of things to get done, But like always time is very limited. with all the normal catching up with the normal routine we had rugby games almost every day practice everyday. I had to go to work  while shannon took care of everything else here at the house. Then to top it off Shannon had her Pre opp visit for her procedure, but i will let her tell you about all of that.  needless to say it has been a crazy week. and now currently as i type this i should be packing to go out of town for work but this all has to be done before i can get my stuff together and go. No matter how much we have to do we seem to get it all done and everything seems to work out just right. but i think that’s all because of how we are.  I was told once that my personality type is not the type that would be able to adapt to the way i am but this was forced on my because of getting older and my environment. i call bs to that because i have always been this way. its funny what people thing when they are trying to figure me out. but i guess i like to keep  people guessing. But anyway. back to what i was saying, this week of catch up has been interesting but nothing that we couldnt handle.  Confession time we usually have a clean house every night  before we go to bed but due to the nature of the week we let the dishes slide till the next morning hahaha i guess that may not see like a lot but for us to do something like that it just isnt in our nature, we love waking up to a clean house everymorning. just something about waking up to a clean home just makes you feel better about the day you are about to have..

It’s been years! I’m not joking when I say that! We as a family have not been on a family vacation in over 6years! I know, it’s sad and something that has taken a long time to do! we decided on a spur of the moment… actually, a month from leaving, that we were going to go on a vacation! it really started when Ethan was on a FaceTime call with his uncle and grandmama. He really thought that his grandmama and granddaddy were at his uncles and broke down after excitement that they were not… and that his uncle was at home with them. We made plans and didn’t back down. Parris, Jacob and Logan ended up flying out a week earlier than us ( who drove ) to spend time with friends… the boys in Tennessee ( luckily on the same town ) and Parris was actually 10 minutes from her grandparents for a week… we do g know how she didn’t end up not going. The drive out was ok… but I was ready to be done driving. It took two days, normally we would do 3, but  needed to make good time. The kids slept 95% of the time. Shocked us… Devins parents had no clue we were showing up! Really, the only people who knew were his brothers. What a great surprise! When we walked in on Saturday night the look s were priceless and his parents were completely speechless! We had Easter with them for the first time in years! We spent time with family… and we were even able to see old friends, record a podcast with Rob West ( check out his channel, Cigar Store Idiots ) Being back south makes me desperately want to move back. I miss the south so much, it just really feels like home. Devin being home hasn’t changed, he was able to help His parents with so much… like old times.  But like all things, they must come to an end. after being with them for a week, we had to head back to make sure we were home in time. We were able to head to Nashville, meet up with friends and had to enough time to drop the boys off to fly back home. Our friend Nathan met us in Nashville… we were supposed to go tour Jack Daniels but had over an hour wait for a tour… so off to BELL BUCKLE CAFE!!! YUMMMM! Met up with old friends and had a blast! From that, we went to Ohio to see Devins brother! What a BEAUTIFUL place he has! It was so nice spending 2 nights there. Kinda a nature get-a-way  needed.., even though we were in nature. We are now on our way home and I can’t wait! I want to see my kids!!! Yup, they made it back before us. I’m jealous.  Now I’m sitting here in the hotel knowing home is 12 hours away. ….until tomorrow

We all have the things that we all would love to change or things we struggle with. It’s the thing that prove that we are human.

I for one, have what seems most of my marriage life have struggles with my weight. It causes a lot of internal struggles and self confidence, and with that I have tried to not be so self conscious about how I look and focus on the health aspects of it.

So here I am 42 years old I weigh 250 pounds. The largest I have ever been. I have high blood pressure, don’t feel well a lot not because I’m sick but because I’m tired. I over eat, I stress eat… and then I usually hate myself because I keep going over and over in their vicious cycle. So a couple of weeks ago I decided to take control of my stupidity and treat it as it is. I did something I never said I would do.

If you know me you know I hate, actually… I loathe MLM’s (multi level marketing) companies. I think they are scams. They are only out for themselves and only out to take money away from the people that sign up for them. But here I am I found a product that will help with my weight loss goals. But it was tied to one of these companies. So after a lot of research I bit the bullet and bought in. So I bought in not for the so called money making opportunities but for my own needs. I bought into the company. If you don’t know who they are they have a product that aids in ketosis. Most everyone has heard of the keto diet. His company has a product called ketones that helps keep your body in ketotis. Which simple put causes you body to burn fat. I am now 10 days into using this product. I am down 12 pounds I feel great. It’s amazing I am on my way to being back in charge of my body. I have been using self control and every time I feel the urge to dive into the binge eating due to stress I drink some water. This is all a mind game. A game that if I do what I’m supposed to do I will win. If you would like to know about ketones feel free to message me I will get you set up with product so you can try it out. I bit the bullet to join this MLM so you don’t have to. Unless you see it is something you fee the need to do. But I will get you hooked up they the product and you can start your better health journey.

As you are reading this you probably are wondering about what all this has to do with Boobies well this is Shannon’s part to talk about that part. …. and, I’m going to explain! I, like Devin, have body issues. I have always said for the past ) years that I was going to get a breast augmentations. If I don’t do it now, I never will. I called a local Plastic Surgeons office and booked an appointment. Super excited! I went to my appointment and it was nothing like I thought. I met with an office assistant and she asked me a hole bunch of question about family history, illnesses, surgeries I’ve had and if I drink, so drugs or smoke. ( all a no )

After meeting with the assistant, I met with Doctor Howland. He went through the the details of what’s going to happen during surgery, how long recovery will take and whomping until they will start to look normal. I was sold! Yes, I will be in A LOT of pain after and during recovery… I will have A LIT of post op visits and I will be bruised. Not able to lift heavy items or do my normal day activities for awhile. I was able to “try on” implants to see what I liked best. What I felt comfortable I. And what size I prefer. That was actually kinda fun! after everything was talked about, talked over and my questions answered… I set my appointment for the 23rd! Can’t wait and I am finally, after ) years making ME.., not my husband happier about my body image issues I have!

If you have ready our past blogs, or even listened to our Podcast, you know that I ( Shannon ) am having surgery.

WHY? Because I went on a scooter ride! Something I told my kids I won’t do… because something stupid will happen if I do! Well, guess what? Something stupid happened! Elizabeth wanted to go up to the store one afternoon and I didn’t have our car… Devin had taken it to work. I have told the kids that I WILL NOT go on scooter rides because something like loosing control or getting hit by a car would happen… Well, I was hit by a car!

My gosh!

You know, some days a mom ( and a dad ) just wants the house to be quiet. I get it. People will most likely disagree with me and say “ Your kids will one day be grown and out of the house, then your house will be quiet”. OR… “ You’ll regret wanting quiet time now, you’ll miss the noise later”. While this is true…. I want quiet time now! We have been home with no car ( it’s in the shop getting fixed) the kids are not in school right now and all I hear is “ can I “ “Will You” “I don’t wan’t to” and “Can I later” NO!!!

After many years several hundred ideas and a ton of discussions, Shannon has decided what she wants to do and what she wants to live in… And no it’s not a bus! Although, that wouldn’t be a bad idea. We still may dive into the #vanlife sometime, this won’t be the time for that. As a couple, we have talked about many things and what to do when it comes to the home we will live in and raise 0ur kids in. We have gone back and forth many times. Ever since we moved from our amazing home in Tennessee it has been hard figuring out what we want to do. It has been a long hard process but Shannon found a place that she loves. Although this will come with a chore in itself for us it will be beyond worth it. Shannon will have the house she has dreamed of second to our old Tennessee home. IMG_5179.jpeg While browsing online the little home popped up. When I say title house I mean tiny home. Yes that is correct I said a tiny home. I know many of you may be thinking it. But how is a tiny home better than a remodeled bus. Well as cool as the bus would have been this is a permanent place this has a foundation it will be arched to the earth just like any other home. Bare in mind this tiny home wont be like many tiny homes you find out there. Most that you find are built on a trailer that is to be pulled behind a truck. Those are pretty amazing but we need something a little larger so we can house all of the kids.

I for one have loved tiny homes for a long time. I love the idea of them I love that it promotes the minimalist life I love he efficiency to them . Shannon on the other side hasn’t like the idea of them for most part… Well up until this little home popped up on social media. When she found he house, I had a job to do. I had to find out more about this tiny home I know if Instagram had a photo of it there was more photos out there with information about it. It took me a couple of hours, but I found it. Funny enough the home is actually back in Tennessee. Not to far from where we lived. To be exact it is pretty much in the huddle between Chattanooga Tennessee and Nashville Tennessee. In a small town called Tracy city. In fact you can rent this place on Airbnb for a by reasonable price.. here is the LINK so you can check out the listing. And possibly even book a night.

As Adam Sandler said in "Billy Madison”… “Back to school, back to school to prove to dad I’m no fool” … That’s right! My kids are going back to school tomorrow! Hallelujah, Amen! happy dance happening now Winter break just seemed WAY. TO. LONG. Maybe it’s because of Covid? Maybe it’s because when the kids are home, they eat us out of all our food… I never shop so much than when kids are on school breaks! UGH!

This year, I believe 2021 is going to be a great year! Why? Because I am going to make it a good year and we have a lot of HUGH ( Donald Trumps voice) HUGE things planned for this year! But, that’s in another blog!

I am going to try my best, if it kills me or not be set limits with the kids… less phone for Ethan. Less video Gaming for Logan and ESPECIALLY Jacob! It seems like that kids lives and breaths XBOX Call of Duty! I’ll admit it, he’s amazing at the game and does a lot of streaming with another gammer live. But, we need less electronice and more family.

Also, I'd like to make a request that we start FHE and dinners together, UNLESS… someone has work, then that’s and exception! For those that don’t know, “FHE” is Family Home Evenings. Oh, and I’d like scripture reading and family prayer daily! I really don’t think that’s too much to ask, do you?

The time from December to the beginning of February kinda kicks our butt! From getting 7 people in out house Christmas gifts, do friends and family and dinners and birthdays… I am exhausted!

Jacob turns the BIG 1 8 on the 10th. I have no clue what to get the kid… most likely Van shoes and something Nike… I don’t know! Anyone what to help a mom out? I know he’s wishing he can go do a lot, but he’s still in High School, graduating in June… but, he’s still under our roof, so curfew and rules and respect still apply. ( Even if he’s out of the house, I expect respect,) Just throwing that out here!

Anywho.. ( yup, I said that ) That’s that and Big things are going to happen!

It is that time of the year again. People are going to be making making goals for the coming year. This isn’t a bad thing, goals are good. We have done this but we have stopped making goals like this. Not down playing everyone out there that makes New Years goals or resolutions. Since we set goals throughout the year we have started something new…We do challenges instead. Challenges for us seems more of a race or urgency to get it done. It’s like starting on the first of the year the gyms are always full with people that want to better their fitness and health goals. But after a few weeks, most of those people have given up on their goal and that chocolate cake has won them back over. Challenges seem to make us work harder because we trick our brain to think a challenge is easier and only a short task.

Challenges are simple, they are small tasks in a larger goal. This year we are taking our challenges to the next level. Part of this is personal growth because with COVID, we have become as a people less friendly.. we smile less, we say hi less, we just avoid people. With technology, like we have it shouldn’t be that way.

This past weekend, Elizabeth had the opportunity to participate in an outdoor Winter Market where we live. It was freezing cold outside! She had spent all week and on Friday night she was up until 1:00 am finishing everything she need to do for Saturdays Winter Market. She was beyond If you have not read our blogs in the past, Elizabeth has been running a business since she was 11 years old. She started to make and sell All Natural dog treats. She figured since we couldn’t have a dog, she would find a way to be around dogs.

She spent quite a few months working on recipes and tweaking them to make them perfect. She did research on what is good for dogs, what is bad for dogs… different foods that pair well together… coming up with about 10 treats that would be the winners. Bacon Cheddar. Carrot Zucchini. Peanut Butter Banana Pumpkin. Pumpkin Apple. Apple Cinnamon. Apple Chi. Mint. Sweet Potato. Sweet Potato Apple.

I am sure she has more, but these are the main treats she makes. She also makes Pup Cakes, they are cup cakes, but for dogs. as well as dog birthday cakes. People love these for birthdays for four legged members.

Her big goal is to have a car by the time she turns 16… which is in February…. But back to the beginning of this blog.

Everyone has traditions. Maybe it’s something that has been passed down from generation to generation. Maybe it’s something that you started when you were a young child, or when you got married. For us, we have since we have had children had the tradition of pajamas. Every year, without fail, we get everyone in our family pajamas. They know what they’re getting… just just don’t know color, style… ect. Every year, Devin and I take notes on everything the kids say. “can i get shorts” “can they be soft” “no buttons” “not this color”… you get the point. Also, every year, without fail… the day after Thanksgiving Day we get our Christmas tree. To us, that’s when Christmas starts. Even though Christmas has been out in the stores for about 2 months now… we wait until the day after Thanksgiving.

Last year we got a permit and we drove what seemed like FOREVER to cut down our own Last year we got a permit and we drove what seemed like FOREVER to cut down our own tree. It was great doing it once, but the kids and I decided it was not a new tradition we wanted to do. What are some traditions you do with your family? Some people have told us:

Have a cookie exchange party. Every guest brings their favorite holiday cookie to share with the rest of the party guests. ...

Go Christmas caroling. ... Elf on the Shelf. ... Check out a local light display. ... Pick out a new ornament for each child. ... Angel Tree. ... Donate food to your local food bank. ... Make Christmas candy. This year , we are starting a new tradition. Back in Tennessee, we went to this place called Jelly Stone park. they would put up lights and you would drive around looking. You would be in you car. The kids loved it. This year, we are starting “Christmas in Color” same concept. The people have spent hours making Christmas in color memorable. They put up millions of lights and you sit in your car and drive around. You set your car radio to a certain station and Christmas music is playing. So cool!

I love that this is going to be new for us. I love that we will be making new memories. Even though our kids are all older ( 19-10 ) it’s still fun to start and make new traditions and memories. I even can’t wait until out family of 5 grows larger, We will get to start more new memories to share.

Can’t wait for making new memories. &. If you ‘d like 15% off your Christmas in Color tickets use promo code:

One thing for sure both Shannon and I know it’s that we have freedom and bondage in this life. Our freedoms are a God given right that sometimes we take for granted, But that all comes down to the choices we make. Yes, your freedom to choose can continue to give you freedom or bondage.

I just read that the Chicago Mayor has canceled Thanksgiving for the people in Chicago! Yes, I know why he feels he has the power to do so. Yes, I know we are in the middle of a pandemic. One that has a survival rate better than the flu, but still a pandemic. To tell the people in Chicago you can’t have family over to celebrate a day of giving thanks is pure over reach of power. I know Shannon and I don’t get to political on our blog, but when we see injustice and people blindly giving into tyranny we have to throw our two cents in. First thing we need to remember is our freedoms, they weren’t given to us by our government, they were given to us by God. This is the biggest issue people don’t understand. Even if you don’t believe in God, doesn’t make it less true. This is why it is so important to stop electing power hungry idiots assigned to a political group. We need to elect based on our personal beliefs. Sadly many of the people out there don’t even know what they believe they just blindly follow the cool kids. This isn’t high school, you have a brain you can make decisions based off of facts and truth... And no, you cant use the term “my truth.” There is no such thing as “My truth “ it is either true or not. When you say “My truth” all you are saying is my opinion is. Don’t get tangled up in these falsities.

Good question. What is a traditional Thanksgiving dinner? For me and my family, it’s home cooked, fresh, cooking all day long. We cook from about 6am, getting the turkey ready for later on… once that’s finished, we start breakfast. It’s a long day. It’s really non stop. I really enjoy holiday dinners. I know my kids will be home with Devin and I ( at least until they are married.. then it’s switching holidays ) but for now, we will be all together. We go all out for holiday dinners. Turkey, homemade cranberry sauce ( recipe will be below … you’re welcome ) rolls made by our daughter ( she’s a pro at rolls and biscuits ) green bean casserole, homemade mashed potatoes and maybe sweet potato casserole and corn ( no, not mixed together )

We always invite friends over that are not close to family, or have no one cooking for them. This year, we invited a few friends and I’m so glad they will be joining us! What’s the best part about Thanksgiving also? I’d have to say the left overs! SERIOUSLY! I love left overs from any holiday meal! The ideas are endless! We really don’t have a tradition for Thanksgiving dinners, ( besides inviting friends ) but, I’d definitely like to start one. Maybe a “Thankful Jar” where you write down what you’re thankful for the seal it up and open it the following year. I think that would be cool. For now, I’m thankful for family and waking up everyday to a new day. Days may be stressful, but that’s why you always get the chance to start a new one. But if not, always be thankful for the one you had.

Several months back I’m browsing my Instagram feed, I’m scrolling through all the amazing pictures when something catches my eye. I stop on DRock holding a few collectors cards. Pokémon cards to be exact. I start thinking we have a few of these cards in the house. So I comment on his picture and tell him about our cards. As he does he replies back saying message me. So I do. He asks if we have had them graded. Both Shannon and I aren’t sure where to start for this. We message back and forth send him a few pictures of what we have to which he says well they could be worth from a few hundred to thousands depending on how the grading goes.

As y’all know Shannon and I have been wanting to buy a house. We have actually several plans on how we are going to achieve this goal. Some of them we have shared on here. We have had a lot of skepticism from a lot of people both publicly and privately. That is the nature of life when you share your life with the general public. It seems haters and trolls are always out there to watch you fail and make sure they tell as many people as they can even though their opinion isn’t worth anything.

If y’all didn’t know, these amazing cards to the right collector are quite lucrative. Especially when Youtubers like Logan Paul get involved in this awesome trading card world.

If you didn’t know Logan Paul, according to his YouTube channel he got a text from Gary Vee asking him about if he has seen this sports cards thing. He replied of course I have. But he doesn’t know anything about sports cards. But he did collect Pokémon cards. Gary vee in a nutshell tells him this is the new art ironically Pokémon is at the top so get educated on Pokémon!

Fast Forward to now. Devin has spent countless hours sorting our Pokemon cards in to years and sets… then sets by numbers. Then, spending time putting them in the correct order into the selves of the card holders so non of them get ruined, lost or trashed in anyway. Trying to hold the value and keep them looking nice.

This was by far no easy task and a lot of the time he has to take out cards to replace ones that went in the missed spot… meaning all cards had to be moved down by 1 or 2 spaces. Again, very time consuming. If you knew how many cards we had, you’d understand.

Are you into collecting cards? Action figures or Legos? maybe Hotwheels…. let us know. Was it something you had as a child and still do? We’d love to know!

I’m sure you have read it before in our blog somewhere… but if not, let me say it again,

A CLEAN HOME IS A HAPPY HOME!

Our kids know that when ma’am’s happy, everyone is happy. We all do our part in keeping the house clean. We take about 15-20 minutes a day and focus on what needs to be done. We also assign our kids daily chores, something that they will have for the entire day. Most of the time, it’s not fair that one kids has trash, and another kid has dishes. We go through a lot more dishes than trash. We hear it daily “that’s not fair” yes.. it’s fair… because eventually said kid will have chore that’s not fair and other child will have a harder chore or a chore that they will do more than once. It all comes around full swing.

Yes, we have days where we don’t want to do anything and just be completely lazy! That’s why we like going to bed with a clean house. Once the house is clean, it tends to stay clean .

Teach your children to clean up after themselves. If they play with something, put it away before getting another toy. Put clothes that are dirty away in the laundry hamper. It’s not hard… kids can start doing chores as young as 2.

If you’d like to have an easy chart to help get your cleaning organized, visit cleanmama.com she’s filled with amazing charts for daily chores, monthly and weekly. • • • • •

Way to often we hear people say I can’t make money I can’t find a job. I will never be able to reach my goals because there just doesn’t seem to be enough money. Well the problem 99% of the time isn’t that you can’t find a job but it’s that you don’t want to do the job that is available. When it’s comes to not enough money it’s most likely that you have way to many unnecessary expenses and aren’t saving.

One of the answers to the solution is to create a side hustle. Yes you have heard it before, a side hustle will require you to not binge that next Netflix series. You will have to be more aware of your time and you will need to be better task oriented. In fact if you were to cancel your Netflix and create a side hustle you will not only save $12 to $14 a month but you could add sever thousands to your budget.

We are like every other family. We have full time jobs. We work our butts off, provide for our family each month and like some families, still want more. We have 5 kids, and even though we make good money, it never seems to be “enough” I think that’s the issue with a lot of families.

We only want the best for our families, and we try to give our kids what they need and a lot of times what the want… if they deserve it. ;)

I had a friend a few years back who made Yardzee games. They are like Yahtzee , but yard size and fit into a 5 galon bucket with a lid. I thought I could sell a few, so Devin ran and bought a 4x4 and cut the wood into dice. We then burned the circles into each side with the help of our daughter, Elizabeth… stained the blocks, labeled the bucket and got all the bells and whistles done to get ready to sell. Takes roughly 1 hours from start to finish (not including drying time for the polyurethane on each die)

I started out by listing them on the facebook market place and within an hour, Devin was calling me into the living room with a crazy look and said something like “ uh, Shannon, you’ve sold 17 so far” I didn’t believe him, so I stopped cleaning and checked my phone. Sure enough, I had message after message asking for my Venmo and when they would be available.

A lot of hard work went into making these games. The most time consuming part was the burning of the dice… man, Elizabeth was a trooper. She sat downstairs for HOURS burning for us. Of course, Devin paid her and that made her very happy.

When it was all said and done, we had sold 166 Yardzee games. Why? Because we were hustling to make money. People were loving the product and we were happy to keep offering them as long as they wanted them.

I don’t think people realize they have so many was to make money, you just have to find out what people like and make it. It’s not impossible. Set a goal and work at it. Find something that is popular that seems interesting and go for it.

What’s something you’ve done to make money? Share with us your ideas.

I’m taking on a lot and it’s ok. I am a 40 year old wife/mom who needs “Me” time and I need a schedule! I have a lot to take on, and it’s ok! You know why? Because I am going to make it work and set a schedule!

Their is no doubt that a mom of 5 has a crazy busy life! Heck, a mom of one has a crazy busy life! We are trying our darnedest to get things running. Trying to focus on what needs to be important, besides our family… what we want to do. on-a-scale-of-one-to-rugby-mom-how-crazy-are-we-talking-here-cb248.png I have, as of today taken over being a “Rugby team mom” for an amazing group of young men at our High School and I have some big shoes to fill. The previous team mom just stepped down because her son has graduated and will be serving a mission for the church… I have always helped out, so I know what to expect, and I have some amazing help hopping on board with me... On top of that, I need to schedule working out, even from home for now. Writing blogs, posting to social media, taking kids to school, cleaning, picking up from school, taking to work and sports practices… and everything in between.

Parents, teachers and coaches devote countless hours into helping kids build skills that they think will help them have a brighter future. But, reading aptitude and soccer skills don’t guarantee a happy adult life.

In fact, a 2015 study published in the American Journal of Public Health found that social and emotional skills are the biggest predictors of future success. Researchers discovered that the more emotionally, mentally and socially competent kids were in kindergarten, the more likely they were to go to college and be employed full-time at age 25. Kids with the lowest social and emotional competency scores were at the highest risk for dropping out of school, legal problems and substance abuse issues.

But just because a child goes to college doesn’t mean they’ve got all the emotional skills they need to succeed. In fact, a 2015 nationwide survey of 1,502 college students found that 60 percent of first-year students felt emotionally unprepared for college and were more likely to report poor academic performance and a negative college experience.

Fortunately, social and emotional skills can be taught (I include more than 100 exercises that teach these skills in my book “13 Things Mentally Strong Parents Don’t Do ”). A few simple strategies incorporated into your daily interactions with your child can make a big difference.

Here are five things smart parents do to raise successful, mentally strong kids:

  1. They validate their feelings Kids’ responses often seem out of proportion to the circumstances. But saying, “Calm down! It’s not a big deal,” or “Don’t be scared. Everything will be OK,” does them a disservice.

Their feelings — no matter how dramatic they seem — are real. Smart parents teach kids that their feelings are OK and it’s what they do with those feelings that matters. They say things like, “It’s OK to feel angry but it’s not OK to hit your brother.

Charming, fun, and yet just the right amount of salty, curse words from the 1950s have a certain extra somethin' that many modern day insults seem to lack. Our four letter words and other caustic phrases get the point across, and they certainly have a place in our vocabulary. But it can be effective to throw in the occasional "get bent" or "oh, fudge" as well. Full article here: https://www.bustle.com/p/11-curse-words-from-the-50s-we-need-to-bring-back-16765036

Listen to Devin and Shannons Take on if the school should teach kids to do laundry!

University of Virginia cognitive scientist Daniel Willingham sparked a lively Twitter conversation about the purpose of school with his tweet about whether schools should teach kids how to do their laundry. He wrote: Why in the world shouldn’t kids learn this at home? Is it really the school’s job to teach children to do laundry?

Willingham, a well-regarded psychology professor who focuses his research on the application of cognitive psychology to education and the author of several books (including “Why Don’t Students Like School?”), was referring in his tweet to an article in Forbes magazine titled “Five Things High Schoolers Need To Know More Than Computer Science.” Full Article here: https://www.washingtonpost.com/education/2019/02/20/why-world-shouldnt-kids-learn-this-home-is-it-really-schools-job-teach-children-do-laundry/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.702ca4dd9adb

Devin can relate to this so much It is something all new Dads should relate to but the cool thing is it makes us grow and be better.

I love my kid’s mom, but I miss my wife When we slowly emerged from the familiar fog of new parenthood, it occurred to me that I longed for the person my wife was before she was a mother. BY MATTHEW BUILDER | JAN 29, 2019 About a year after our son was born, my wife, Akiko, and I vowed that we would have a date night every month. It was the kind of commitment made by thousands of couples every day, with the very idea of a date night now so cliché, it was made into a middling movie of the same name that thousands of couples have wasted at least one date night watching. (To be fair, Tina Fey was pretty good in it.) After the turmoil of childbirth, months of sleeplessness, hormonal whiplash and, most significantly, the sudden re-arrangement of your lives around the simple but incessant needs of a fragile new human being, the idea that you might want to regularly reconnect with the person with whom you embarked on this journey is a no-brainer. But you can’t: That person doesn’t exist. When Aki and I went on our first date night (dinner and a movie, with my in-laws babysitting), we made some familiar rules: We wouldn’t talk about Owen. We would not look at photos of Owen. We would not talk about our favourite photos of Owen. But it was our first night away from him, and we kept our phones on. A few minutes into dinner, Aki’s phone buzzed. Her father texted a photo of Owen asleep in his grandmother’s arms. We cooed. Aki put her phone away. Fifteen minutes later, another picture—this time of Owen asleep in his grandfather’s arms. More cooing. Aki put her phone away again. Full article  can be read here: https://www.todaysparent.com/family/family-life/i-love-my-kids-mom-but-i-miss-my-wife/

Shannon and Devin discuss some of the many bad pick up lines and wonder if they actually work. Let us know your bad pick up lines ! Shipt.com Promo Code: THEYOUNGBLOODLIFE For as long as there have been single people looking for a relationship (or at least a date for Saturday night), there have been cheesy pick-up lines. Our Neanderthal ancestors used them—you can be sure some Caveman tried a line like “Can I hiber-mate with you through the Ice Age?”—and we continue to use them today, even though apps like Tinder and Bumble have replaced face-to-face first encounters for many singles. Why have pickup lines survived, even though they make us cringe? Well, probably because they make us cringe. Introducing yourself to someone new is always scary—the possibility of rejection is part of the deal—but if you use a pick-up line that’s just cheesy or silly enough, you might make them laugh, and that’s at least a step in the right direction. Here are 50 of our favorite pick-up lines that are so unabashedly cheesy that you’re almost guaranteed to get a smile. But if you attempt them with an actual person, use with caution, and don’t hold us responsible for what happens next. Original Article: https://bestlifeonline.com/pick-up-lines/

Being a Parent can be challenging especially mentally. But we just have to do it. Here are 13 things that Mentally Strong Parents don’t do. Original article from Forbes. Link Below  1. They Don’t Condone A Victim Mentality Getting cut from the soccer team or failing a class doesn’t make your child a victim. Rejection, failure, and unfairness are part of life. Rather than allow kids to host pity parties or exaggerate their misfortune, mentally strong parents encourage their children to turn their struggles into strength. They help them identify ways in which they can take positive action, despite their circumstances. 2. They Don’t Parent Out Of Guilt Guilty feelings can lead to a long list of unhealthy parenting strategies — like giving in to your child after you’ve said no or overindulging your child on the holidays. Mentally strong parents know that although guilt is uncomfortable, it’s tolerable. They refuse to let their guilty feelings get in the way of making wise choices. 3. They Don’t Make Their Child The Center Of The Universe It can be tempting to make your life revolve around your child. But kids who think they’re the center of the universe grow up to be self-absorbed and entitled. Mentally strong parents teach their kids to focus on what they have to offer the world — rather than what they’re owed. 4. They Don’t Allow Fear To Dictate Their Choices Keeping your child inside a protective bubble could spare you a lot of anxiety. But keeping kids too safe stunts their development. Mentally strong parents view themselves as guides, not protectors. They allow their kids to go out into the world and experience life, even when it’s scary to let go. 5. They Don’t Give Their Child Power Over Them Kids who dictate what the family is going to eat for dinner, or those who orchestrate how to spend their weekends, have too much power.  Becoming more like an equal — or even the boss — isn’t healthy for kids. Mentally strong parents empower kids to make appropriate choices while maintaining a clear hierarchy. 6. They Don’t Expect Perfection High expectations are healthy, but expecting too much from kids will backfire. Mentally strong parents recognize that their kids are not going to excel at everything they do. Rather than push their kids to be better than everyone else, they focus on helping them become the best versions of themselves. 7. They Don’t Let Their Child Avoid Responsibility You won’t catch a mentally strong parent saying things like, “I don’t want to burden my kids with chores. Kids should just be kids.” They expect children to pitch in and learn the skills they need to become responsible citizens. They proactively teach their kids to take responsibility for their choices and they assign them age-appropriate duties. 8. They Don’t Shield Their Child From Pain It’s tough to watch kids struggle with hurt feelings or anxiety. But, kids need practice and first-hand experience tolerating discomfort. Mentally strong parents provide their kids with the support and help they need coping with pain so their kids can gain confidence in their ability to deal with whatever hardships life throws their way. 9. They Don’t Feel Responsible For Their Child’s Emotions It can be tempting to cheer your kids up when they’re sad or calm them down when they’re angry. But, regulating your kids’ emotions for them prevents them from gaining social and emotional skills. Mentally strong parents teach their children how to be responsible for their own emotions so they don’t depend on others to do it for them. 10. They Don’t Prevent Their Child From Making Mistakes Whether your child gets a few questions wrong on his math ho
