Our God is a Consuming Fire The Factory Youth The bible frequently refers to God’s presence as a “consuming fire.” Attributes of His presence include the purification and power of a jealous God, who wants all of ourselves, so that what is unnecessary goes, and the necessary stays.

The conquest of Joshua is a hard pill to swallow as God’s “holy nation of priests to bless the nations” walk into the nation of Canaan and destroy them. But in this story we see the way God deals with sin and compromise.
After being delivered from Egypt, the Israelites are taken into the wilderness. For 40 years the Israelites wonder I the wilderness under the protection, provision, and direction of God.
In the story of the Bible we are brought to the Mountain of God—Mt Sinai. Upon this Mountain God will reveal the Law to Moses for the people of Israel. God is fulfilling His promise to Abraham in making his descendants more than a family, but a nation. A Holy Nation. A Kingdom of Priests.
YHWH is a God who has authority over all kingdoms, nations, and even the laws of the universe, yet He identifies with the oppressed and the hurting. In the story of the Israelite’s miraculous exit from Egypt we see these characteristics of YHWH in balance and on full display.
The true story of the Exodus of the Israelites serves us as a picture of God’s redemption plan. In Exodus 3 that redemption story begins as Moses comes face to face with YHWH.
So far, in the story of the Scriptures, we have seen God as the creator, chief of all Elohim, perfect and mighty, in Genesis 12-21 we are revealed to another aspect of God’s character: His intimacy.
In this message we look at the combined rebellion from the heavenly realm and the human realm. This story seeks to explain the flood, giants, and the diving of the nations at Babel.
All of which is so that God can redeem the whole world through the sending of Jesus.
Genesis 6 & Genesis 11
As we continue through the biblical story, we get to Genesis 3—the end of life as God designed it to be. A serpent, temptation, tree, the fall, and banishment. This is the beginning of the story East of Eden.
In the Garden we meet a serpent. Who is this serpent? Why are they opposed to God and man? In this teaching we are introduced to the Adversary, the Devil.
Where did the universe come from? Where did the earth come from? Where did I come from? These are common questions that need answers. In Genesis 1:1 we see the answer: God. But who is this God?
When we become Christians a new life begins. Although we become new there are behaviors that we bring along from our old life into the new. Spiritual maturity is learning how to remove those old behaviors and exchange them for new behaviors that honor Jesus,
Pride is dressed throughout scripture as something God distances Himself from. In fact, it is something that God hates! Humility, on the other hand, is highly valued in the Kingdom of God. Modeled in the life, ministry, and person of Jesus we learn the tremendous value of humility.
We love to hold on to the promises of God for peace, purpose, and forgiveness but we often forget about other promises, like promise of trials, persecution, and difficulty. Because of this we are surprised by the reality of trials. Scripture tells us to rejoice in trials, because through them we grow more into Christ’s likeness.
We have all been tempted to do something that we should not do. And we have all given into that temptation. Temptation is a reality for all of us—we need to learn how to resist and grow through it.
Life is really hard sometimes and we often find super natural strength from God through difficulty… But life isn’t always hard. Sometimes life is easy. How can we make a commitment to be faithful to Jesus through difficult times and easy ones?
The feeling of anxiety is like a noise blaring in the background of our life. It often goes unnoticed and unchecked, but we see the affects of anxiety in our lives. What if we had a way to notice that noise and quiet it. Through directing our attention onto God and the things of God we can quiet anxiety and listen to the sound of peace.
Jesus gives us opportunity to bring all our burdens to Him—our anxieties, worries, stresses, fears, shame—Jesus can carry the weight that we ourselves don’t have the strength to carry.
Hate to break it to you but, your relationship with God is not about you. We need to think of creative ways to push others in the direction of affection toward God and Actions that glorify Him.
There is no act that embodies the character of Jesus more than engaging in forgiveness. But forgiveness is not natural to us, we need to learn to engage in the process of forgiveness.
In part 2 of our series One Another we learn about biblical kindness and how to walk in that kindness toward the body of Christ.
In the first week of our new mini-series, where we are taking a look at several of the 59 ‘‘one another’’ statements in the New Testament, we look at the command to the christian to “love one another.” Pastor Nate teaches through 1 John chapter 3 which defines love and directs us on how we ought to display love toward one another.
John chapter 13 Jesus displays a self-giving and sacrificial love to His disciples as He washes the feet of those He loves. In this action, Jesus invites all of His followers into receiving and displaying this kind of love.
If you’re not happy with what you have, you’ll never be happy with what you’re given. Our souls thirst for water, but we typically try to drink from wells which will not satisfy. Jesus invites us to drink from a well that will truly satisfy our deepest needs.
We have a natural draw, we could describe it as a need, for relationships. However, relationships aren’t natural to sustain. We need a framework to build our relationships on. In part three of our series, Cheyne gives us practical pillars and boundaries to ensure our relationships are built God’s way.
With relationships, a lot of questions come up into our minds. When should a relationship start? How should it be sustained? How and when should a relationship end? In this message Pastor Nate practically and biblically answers some of those questions.
In our new series, Check Yes or No, we are looking at the yes’s and no’s of christian dating. In this first message we see how to begin a relationship in a mature and biblical way.

What is the gospel? We, as christians, know that we have a responsibility to share the gospel but, what exactly is the gospel? In part 2 of this series we take a deep dive into scripture to fully understand what the gospel is.
The world is broken. People are hurt and hurting. The world can’t fix itself. The systems the world has designed, in an attempt to make things better, are actually causing more brokenness and pain. The only thing able to save the world is something (or someone) outside the world. Jesus came to reconcile a broken people and a broken world back to Himself in order to save the world. And He has given us the mission of bringing that Good News to people. You have what the world needs.
In the conclusion of The Life of David series we see David’s response to being confronted about his sin with Bathsheba. Psalm 51 records David’s repentance and apology to God, in it we learn how to repent and how to walk with God for all the days of our lives.
In 2 Samuel 6 we see David fall into a series of shocking and horrific sins. In the infamous story of David and Bathsheba we see how we can ruin our life, but we also see through his bad example how we can be people who follow God rather than our own desires.
2 Samuel chapter six, David has finally entered into his reign as king. His first order of business is bringing the Ark of the Covenant—representing the presence of God—into the center of the city. David’s first goal as king is to restore the worship of the Israelites.
In part 9 of our Life of David series Cheyne takes us through 2 Samuel 1:1-16, the death of Saul. Saul mistreated David. Yet, David still mourned the death of his king. In David’s reaction to Saul’s death we see two major principles we should follow as we follow after Jesus.
