Thanks to Simone Biles, Mental Health and Sports are front and center, and rightfully so. With her public admission she received  both praise and criticism from around the world. Personally I feel it only made her stronger.
A light needs to be shone on Mental Health especially at the High school level.  Athletes are always under pressure in one way or another, but young athletes need to understand the signs, and know how to deal with it. That is why I invited Coach Brady from Elite QB to be on the show. He makes sure that not only are the boys that he helps enhance their athletics abilities, he also makes sure he discusses with them, and their parents, how important it is to be mentally prepared to be on the playing field as well.

This is our first episode of the new season and we are hoping to start it off with some insightful information. Make sure your following us on Instagram and you can also sign up for our weekly newsletter on our website: www. Suffolk Sports Media is excite to have high school sports back and in full swing. Our High School athletes are getting back on the fields and courts and we could be happier for them.

Football is starting back up in a few days and I was lucky enough to get Jack Cheshire, Sayville High school football teams quarterback, to answer a few questions as he and the entire team is getting ready for an exciting new season.

We are looking forward to talking with a lot of athletes this season and hope that each team has a successful year.

Jordan Milo took a few minutes out of her day to talk all with us about the Varsity Girls Volleyball team and the upcoming season.
Their first game takes place Monday March 8th at 3;30pm with a very special ceremony. They will be retiring the number of one of their former teammate, Maddie Mergl who passed away last year.
The entire ceremony as well as the game will be viewable though the Internet and as soon as we have the links to that we will post them.

I had the chance to sit and talk Dr. Jim Wright The AD for South Huntington School District, Associate Executive Director at NYSAAA, as well as being on the Board of Directors of NYS AHPERD.
He has been spending his time not just advocating to get high school sports back up and running again but he has been on Twitter trying to make sure that everyone understand what is going on in regards to high school sports here on Long Island.

It was a great conversation and one I hope clears the air some regarding Covid 19 and High School Sports.

Have a listen...

I had the pleasure of talking with both Brooke Hoss and Erin Scheafer, co-captains of the Sayville Girls Lacrosse team. We talked about what they have been doing during all this down time they have had, what and how their teammates are dealing with this, and what they have planned for their future. It was a fun afternoon and we are so looking forward to seeing them and then tire team back on the fields this year.

There're some other issue that I think this Executive Board didn't take into consideration when they cancelled high school sports until January, and that is their mental health.
I am by no means a professional in this field, but we are all parents and we do see how this is effecting our student Athletes.

I would really love to heard what you're seeing as a parent, student and yes, even a coach. I think that if we can give them more reasons as to why the cancelling of sports is a bad thing, the better it is to get them to revers their decision.
