Brit gives us the science behind HIGH feminine energy to become magnetic, empowered and balanced, again!🤍

As women, we power through so much—mood swings, PMS, cramps, energy crashes at 3PM, insomnia, poor mental health and low self-confidence + low self-esteem—but these symptoms are NOT NORMAL!! They are products of us suppressing our feminine, because we were taught to lean into the masculine to build credibility in this patriarchal system.

Time to reclaim our power with my Hypnotherapist + Mental and Menstrual Coach, Brit. She says: "You're not lazy, or crazy for feeling depressed. It's your feminine energy that is suppressed. It's why you struggle with burnout, low self-worth, confidence, and self-trust. It is ALSO the root cause for many health and hormonal imbalances. All of this is blocking your magnetism!"

*stay till the end for the guided hypnosis to set your magnetism + abundance on 🔥!

We want to do work smarter, but how can we, if we’re stuck in a hamster wheel going 120mph? We need to spend more time with our feminine energy—sitting with ourselves, getting to know what's happening inside, shedding light on our triggers that are influencing our subconscious mind and our decision making. Your triggers are a gift: To know, sit and reflect on your triggers makes you more intentional, connected with your intuition, and it gives you your energy and time back.

I share a journaling prompt that helps me, because we're being invited, as a collective, to learn to self-regulate, regenerate, and be aware of when we're disconnecting by spending more time with our feminine energy.

I used to tell people that my biggest fear was waking up at the age 40 and realizing that I hadn't been living life for myself. That I'd somehow been chasing the wrong things, living in everybody's opinions at work and disconnected from my own desires. We get so stressed out at work trying to be the most for everybody. I don't think we take enough time to be "selfish" and just connect to ourselves.

I've come up with a new format on here to take a moment and connect to ourselves. It's a work in progress, I already have a few new ideas on what to incorporate next time. I'm very excited, because it feels like I can connect more intimately with you this way.

Shoot me a message if you have any topics you'd like me to do a soundbite on to help you feel connected, grounded, reflected and ready to go out and be passionate about life again.

I manifested my move to LA— I thought I'd figured out the energetic space to live from to manifest my purpose & dream career. Reality hit harder than I thought. My confidence took a massive hit. I'm learning that confidence leads to uncertainty, but that's the point.

If that's true, how can we trust ourselves and feel confident when we're anxious? How can we slow down and take care of ourselves to see uncertainty as a place of infinite possibility instead of living from a place of fear and scarcity?

Key elements I dig into:

  1. Flexible Mindset: Self-confidence fluctuates. Stay open minded and be compassionate with yourself.

  2. Self-Care: Extreme “performance” requires extreme self-care—nutrition, physical, and emotional well-being—they all influence our confidence.

  3. Slow Down: Are you leading from a place of ego and need for validation? Confidence stays when we’re mindful, present, and grounded in who we are.

  4. Connection: Where are you making decisions from? What’s your intention? Are you trying to impress or are you respecting yourself, your thoughts, your mind?

  5. Awareness: Being aware of our emotions, energy levels, and cycles can help us make decisions aligned with our personal flow & rhythm.

Feeling stuck or lacking the drive to make this year the best of your life? This is for you: My guest David Ulrich breaks down the secrets to success and staying energized in a world full of uncertainty. David was ranked #1 management guru by Business Week, profiled by Fast Company as one of the world’s top 10 creative people in business, a top 5 coach in Forbes, and is recognized on Thinkers50 as one of the world’s leading business thinkers.

Whether you're aiming to skyrocket your career, level up your business, or simply upgrade yourself and your life, we've got your back. From aligning your values with your hustle, accelerating personal growth or growing your business, David's insight will reignite that fire within you! 🔥 It's time to step out of survival mode and thrive!❤️‍🩹✨

Key lessons to live your best life, stay energized & find success:

  1. In a world full of uncertainty, focus on certainty
  2. New age leaders focus less on what they want to say, and more on how they make others feel. Self-actualization in isolation was selfish to begin with.
  3. The future is NOT a linear progression from the past: There's no guarantee that your health or income will keep getting better.
  4. The mindset for a better future: "When you live in the past you're depressed, when you live in the future you're anxious. The only way to improve is by staying PRESENT by being curious and learning." You learn by leading a life of experimentation.
  5. Your business' culture should focus on: "What do we want to be known for by our best customers?"

Key lessons on reinvention from our conversation:

  1. The worst moment in your life, can also be your best: You can use devastating times to build necessary momentum for change to create opportunities. Adversity can lead to new paths and self-discovery.
  2. Experimentation over comfort: If you never try, you will never know what works for you. The key for high-performers lies in setting realistic expectations, and embracing self-love unconditionally amid imperfection.
  3. Confidence despite fear of failure: Your people-pleasing tendencies push you towards perfectionism and hinder you from trying. True confidence lies in owning your uniqueness, celebrating small wins, turn comparison into motivation, and giving yourself grace when you fail. External validation wasn't sustainable to begin with.
  4. Authentic is strong: Being a successful content creator or a successful model and actor in the competitive market of LA requires standing out. You can't stand out if you're a carbon copy of everyone else and trying to fit in. Dare to be different.
  5. Happiness is on the Other Side of Fear of Failure: Facing your fears is like finding the keys to doors that lead you into rooms you never thought existed. Reframe your relationship to discomfort and your whole life will change.

Key take aways:

  • Say "I Am" instead “I will be” to step into that "future you energy"
  • More micro-habits reduce decision-fatigue
  • Planning is great, but useless without understanding your current emotional state
  • Being adaptable requires more discipline

Topics Discussed:

  1. Embrace the Power of "I Am": Act as if you have already achieved your goals, embody the energy and confidence of your future self. This mental shift can significantly impact your actions and outcomes.
  2. Micro Habits for Success: Establish routines, especially in the morning, to create a structured foundation for your day. Limiting the number of daily decisions allows you to focus on priorities and higher-level thinking.
  3. Reflection and Goal Planning: Identify recurring challenges and limiting beliefs. Plan for the future by setting clear goals, both personally and professionally, and create a roadmap for success.
  4. Prioritize Health and Well-being: Recognize the foundational importance of health in reaching your goals. Prioritize habits that contribute to well-being, including adequate sleep, nutrition, exercise, and mindfulness.
  5. Adaptability and Discipline: Acknowledge the need for adaptability. While external factors, such as having children, may introduce unpredictability, maintaining discipline and having anchor points in your routine allows for flexibility without sacrificing progress toward your goals.

We can unleash our potential without sacrificing our health, if we're open to

  • uncovering how labels influence and limit us,
  • learning about the different systems and games at play in life,
  • prioritizing who you want to become rather than fixating on milestones.

Key Insights & Topics Discussed:

  1. Redefining Self-Worth Beyond Work: Our self-worth should not be solely tied to our work or achievements. The world brings uncertainty, and our identities should transcend traditional career definitions.
  2. Shifting from Finite to Infinite Games: Recognize the difference between finite and infinite games in life. Traditional career paths represent finite games with winners and losers, while embracing an infinite mindset allows for continuous personal growth. Shift your mindset from pursuing finite achievements to enjoying the journey and embracing the infinite possibilities for personal and professional development.
  3. Building Trust for Meaningful Relationships Fosters Growth: Meaningful connections in the workplace require trust. Superficial relationships hinder growth, and trust is crucial for opening up, sharing, and navigating challenges together.
  4. Balancing Growth and Patience: The pursuit of growth is essential for happiness, but impatience can lead to stress and burnout. Finding the right balance involves slowing down, being patient with oneself, and making choices aligned with current life situations. Strive for growth but be mindful of pacing.

5 key take aways on the transformative power of facing challenges, embracing uncertainty, and continuously growing:

  1. Build Trust In Yourself: Doing the hard thing builds confidence and the trust in yourself. This comes from persevering through challenges and staying true to yourself.
  2. Authenticity Comes From Ego-Death & Transformation: Embracing the unknown leads to a shedding of old skin, ego-death, a painful but crucial part of becoming an authentic leader.
  3. Relationship Change When you change: Not everyone will understand the path you're on and that's ok. Nurture yourself, and stay compassionate. Find your tribe, the people that support your growth.
  4. Adversity Is Part the Process: It gets easier if you're open to new experiences, and reframe your definition of success, and learn to give yourself what you need in order to feel more comfortable as you work through adversity.
  5. Ideas For Extreme Self-care: The quality of the seed dictates the quality of the tree it will grow into. Learn what tools, e.g. self-awareness, energy management, exploration, that enhance your learning and transformation process. I share mine in this episode.

We get real about our limiting beliefs during change, idealizing other people’s lives, the limitations of self-reflection, the illusion of dream jobs, and why it’s a bad idea to choose money and comfort over making change in life. Because when life hits you hard, you learn a few lessons on how to grow. My co-host, Philipp lost a family member a few years ago. And our jobs moved us from Europe to the US and we both work at startups. We sit down to talk about handling change in life.

Key Points That Tirza Talks About:

1. High Performance vs. Future Readiness: High-performing teams are like finely tuned machines, but they can become brittle and inflexible. Future-ready teams focus on performance and learning, making them more resilient in the face of change.

2. The Need for Learning AND Innovation: Dedicate time for learning without fearing a decrease in output. Efficient use of time learning can lead to more effective output in the long run.

3. Measuring Output and Value: Shift the focus from measuring time spent to measuring output and value created. Reward efficiency and effectiveness, not just busyness.

4. Building a Culture of Feedback for Team Learning: Foster psychological safety by encouraging feedback both in group settings and one-on-one. Embrace challenge and criticism constructively.

5. Understanding Culture: Recognize that organizational culture is not just about team-building exercises but how work is done. It plays a significant role in driving strategy and outcomes.

6. The Importance of Continuous Development: Continuously develop foundational cultural capacities before diving into innovation processes.

7. Psychological Safety and Feedback: Psychological safety and feedback go hand in hand in creating an environment where experimentation and exploration are encouraged.

8. Striking a Balance: Strive for a balance between delivering efficiently on known tasks and experimenting with new ideas for the future.

What I love about these LinkedIn lives is that they are so closely connected with what I talk about on my podcast: focus on people, the rest will follow.

If you too want to reduce the stress on your team, and set yourself and your people up for success in a world that's constantly changing, reach out and we can talk about how developing leadership capacities, skills, and mindset helps you manage uncertainty and ongoing change with more ease, enabling faster innovation and collaboration. Here are my take aways:

  1. Ownership & Accountability: It goes beyond mere participation; it involves a deep sense of commitment and dedication. Accountability is built on clear commitments and the fulfillment of those commitments. Organizations should foster a culture of commitment making and keeping, where individuals are held accountable for their promises. The focus should be on learning from missed commitments and improving future outcomes rather than placing blame or punishment.
  2. Empowerment: Traditional notions of empowerment can be disempowering as they imply that power is granted by someone else. True empowerment comes from within and should be cultivated through a self-management mindset. Leaders should empower their team members by providing them with the power to learn, acquire resources, build relationships, and collaborate effectively.
  3. Continuous improvement is at the heart of self-management and organizational success.
  4. Talent with Self-Management skill set: When hiring, look for individuals who demonstrate a self-management mindset and a willingness to take ownership. Assess candidates' self-awareness, collaboration skills, and ability to work autonomously. Seek individuals who are adaptable, embrace change, and are motivated by personal growth and the success of the organization.
  5. Decision Making: Distribute decision-making authority to individuals closest to the action. And foster a culture where decisions are made based on expertise and input from those affected by the decision. Embrace decision rights and empower individuals to make decisions within their areas of responsibility.

Key Takeaways::

  1. Pursue Your North Star: Gain the confidence to pursue your dreams by aligning your decisions with your passions and surrounding yourself with supportive people who encourage growth. Embrace failures as stepping stones to success and persevere until you achieve your goals, both personally and professionally.
  2. Embrace Risk: Overcome risk aversion by reframing its perception and understanding that calculated risks are vital for growth. Allocate a portion of your efforts (e.g., 10%) in business and in your personal life to pursue ambitious, innovative endeavors while safeguarding core operations. There is no success without failure. No failure means mediocrity.
  3. De-Risk Ventures With Customer-Centricity: Re-risk by speeding up the time it takes to test, fail, learn and try again. Prioritize customer feedback over pride and predetermined plans. Embracing this mindset fosters disruptive innovation and separates market leaders from the rest.

Key Insights We Touch Upon In This Conversation:

  1. SaaS companies need sales skills along the entire customer journey to manage digital touch points on social media to building long lasting relationships to retain customers. Susan shares how Siemens DI SW built a sales hub to manage all touch points.

  2. Change happens when leaders understand what market challenges sales faces. Susan built connections and dialogue between the sales organization and leadership with reverse mentoring. This helped leadership understand and support the sales hub's evolution by addressing frontline workers' real challenges instead of just creating awareness presentations around their meta-level WHY.

  3. Transforming a traditional sales organization into a sales hub that covers the customer journey requires collaboration among the different sales roles, which requires a focus on designing team culture, first.

  4. The future of sales lies in automation. And the question becomes: Can you shift  sales people out of a fear of job loss and enroll them into a future where they can seize more opportunities as automation frees up their schedules?

I share my journey towards understanding my purpose and creating from a place of authenticity. I also talk about my partner's approach to creation as an artist and what I’m learning from him about the process of creating from a place of uniqueness without getting in our own way, and finding peace in uncertainty.

Key aspects I talk about:

  1. Embracing Change: I share my intense six-month journey, from leaving her corporate job to embracing the entrepreneurial world. She discusses the higher stakes, faster pace, and overwhelming nature of this shift, while also acknowledging the opportunities it brings.
  2. The Artistic Influence: My partner, an artist, becomes an essential source of inspiration. I admire his ability to let creativity emerge without forcing it, leading me to question how this concept applies to my own business world. I explore the power of getting out of my own way and allowing my true self to shine.
  3. The Sweet Spot: I’ve always strived to find the sweet spot where mu skills, strengths, and passions intersect to make a meaningful impact. I share my experiences interviewing corporate leaders and I reflect on the importance of aligning personal purpose with the organization's mission.
  4. Peeling Back Layers: I emphasize the significance of introspection and self-discovery. And I delve into the process of shedding limiting beliefs, understanding strengths, and recognizing areas for personal growth. By following my heart and stepping into the unknown, I learn to challenge societal expectations and embrace my true self.
  5. Embracing Uncertainty: I discovers the power of embracing uncertainty and surrendering control. I realize that despite my best efforts, I cannot control every aspect of my entrepreneurial journey. By reframing uncertainty as an adventure rather than a challenge, I learn to navigate ambiguity with grace and resilience.

Downsizing office space, repurposing the space, or implementing hybrid work concept are opportunities to improve collaboration. I led the change management for developing and executing the Hybrid Work strategy and concept at Siemens Smart Infrastructure's. Our team was to merge the global and European headquarters, downsize and repurpose the office space. Seeing this as an opportunity to improve how we collaborated, I needed to include the voice of the employees and apply an agile, human-centric approach to change management to co-create the office space vision and solution, increase change adoption, and motivate people to go back to work.

Here's why change management is critical to success and here's what to focus on:

  • Make change management part of your hybrid work strategy and project team. The change team will act as a sounding board between employees and leadership, grow a change community, communicate, and create the change story to inspire people and help move people into action
  • Develop an agile structure that allows for co-creation of the office space vision, solution, and change story
  • Employee engagement requires regular communication on the change progress but also continuous communication on the vision. Use storytelling to inspire people on the vision
  • Change ambassadors enable bottom-up change, but focus on enabling the frozen middle, management/team leads also. These questions may help:
    • Are there team leads that can be recruited as change ambassadors? What will you do about the other team leads?
    • What training and toolkits do team leads require to break down the change with teams, "make the change actionable" ?
    • Teams will realize they have knowledge gaps to improve how they collaborate in a hybrid setting with, e.g. digital tools, or creative problem solving techniques. How are you capturing the knowledge gaps?
  • Up-skilling requires more investigation, time and resources. Use the insight you gain from implementing hybrid work strategies to strategies on up-skilling your employees.

When done right, hybrid work concepts / back to office strategies are opportunities to foster collaboration. But they're just the beginning. Fostering more collaborative work environments is a learning journey. Incorporating a change management team with time and resources will help you lay the right foundation.

Leaders ask the wrong questions when they digitize: “How can we dissolve silos to be more innovative? Build a “trust culture” for more ownership? How can we be agile, faster, and more competitive?” Leaders tackle symptoms instead of identifying root causes that hinder speed, innovation, collaboration, and growth.

Key insight from the conversation on where our thinking goes wrong when we don’t understand:

  • The market problem: What’s changed? What new market problem is the organization confronted with?
  • The type of problem: Do we face a complicated problem? Or a complex problem?
  • The structure to solve the problem: If it’s a complicated problem, process and knowledge will solve it. If it’s a complex problem then group intelligence and smart experimentation is required, which can be attained through agile, scrum, and/or self-organized teams.

Answer these questions to empower your teams by providing the right structure.

Experiences and stories I talk about:

  • LA attracts people who are willing to put themselves out there and try on a new skin: many people here have skin in the game, they go out and just try, they learn to pivot, and learn how not to crack under pressure
  • Driven by a go getter mentality and seeing the need to fail forward: people allow themselves to just start and figure it out as they go
  • Having skin in the game produces anxiety: you’re always thinking "What’s next?" It’s easy to not relax into the now, because there is no finish line, no certainty. Progress requires work and repetition and a strong network of people that will help you work towards progress, success and collaboration. People in L.A. really rely on that network, it's all about who you know, and being like-able to do business with.
  • Detach to reduce stress: the highs are high, the lows are low. Surrendering and acknowledging that part of the process is to let go of this feeling that we are in control of everything, and to trust that the right thing will happen and come our way, eventually.

My Key Take Aways from this conversation:

  1. Saboteurs have many origins: our childhood, upbringing, and what people tell us. Working through them can help to build character and resilience
  2. Build confidence and trust in yourself to reduce the effects of external sabotage. Remember small successes and give yourself credit for them.
  3. Spot a saboteur by paying attention to when you use “should” or pay attention to when you feel regret or shame. Swap your “shoulds” with “coulds”
  4. Educate yourself and take the saboteur test by Chizard Chamine: https://www.positiveintelligence.com/saboteurs/ or read his book on positive intelligence / saboteurs: https://www.goodreads.com/en/book/show/13221308-positive-intelligence

Creativity is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration. Here's how to get a good sweat in and love the process:

  • Disruptive innovation requires us to value and focus on “how” (team & problem solving), less on “what” (product)
  • Spend digging into a problem and get comfortable in that space by letting go of perfectionism, and being ok with the discomfort that arises
  • Ideas arise from being in stand-by: Slow down, and use play and relaxation so your subconscious mind can push ideas into your consciousness
  • Seek environments where you aren’t the expert, be curious and open, accept people who are different to you, this will heighten your/team’s creativity
  • Don't wait for a perfect plan, scenario, environment, or reason to do / create. Start and allow your first few steps to be wobbly

This episode’s invites you to reflect on:

  • What’s your intention when you face conflict and need to negotiate? Try to set the intention to listen to find similarities, and use the differences to expand and build bridges between parties
  • Do you have a common purpose that drives the agenda? Or is your own agenda running the show and blocking your ability to learn or find consensus?
  • Get curious about people's interests, their backgrounds, their experiences, and ask yourself, how can we pursue a common purpose that contributes towards an outcome that’s better for the greater good of society/this team and not just benefiting me/them?
  • What’s your approach to diffuse conflict? Can you ask for help? What about trying to ask the other person you’re in conflict with for help to resolve the problem? Vulnerability is a powerful tool that disarms people during conflict
  • How do you invite others to embrace conflict? Are you as a leader publicly rewarding people that oppose your opinion?

Throughout the episode we refer to Friedrich Glasl's Nine-Stage ModelOf Conflict Escalation.

How are we enabling people and the business to stay relevant and resilient during transformation and change, and to succeed? Empowerment leadership and culture are tools to ensure resiliency, relevancy—success. But, developing empowerment culture requires a shift in mindset: "Your success is my success." Ma Qing elaborates on this. Here are my key take aways:

  • Ensuring the success of others ensures my success
  • I work to stay in touch with the people I work with, so that I know what matters to them. The feeling of togetherness is powerful, it brings us closers, and allows us to succeed together.
  • Empowerment is about empowering every person in the ecosystem, not just my employees
  • I work on becoming the best version of myself, so that I do a better job at empowering others
  • Self-development means I am open to learn, and I use self-compassion to stay motivated when my confidence takes a hit from making mistakes

I hope you enjoy!

"It's not about what we have, it's about what we do" Barbara says. She understands how creating a culture of empowerment to advance electrification, automation, digitalization and sustainability requires her to become the best version of herself, first. It depends on how you view your role as a leader and that of your people–not as mere resources, but as individuals who can grow.

Here are my top take aways on personal growth to foster the best version of ourselves:

  1. Know your strengths and that of your team–learn to rely on and trust your experts. You have to give trust to build it.
  2. Uncover your subconscious biases to enable inclusiveness in diverse teams. You want people to feel like they belong, feel comfortable speaking up, and bring their full selves to work.
  3. Keep your ego in check: Where are you engaging in someone’s process or someone’s business? Where are you undermining someone’s ownership?

I hope you enjoy!

  2. Embracing storytelling to inspire requires that you tap into your personal story--what makes you unique?
  3. Understanding our uniqueness often requires us to do some work on accepting what we often are ashamed of, because that sets us apart from others, but that's what we need to learn to embrace

Look at all the yoga classes, spiritual retreats, meditation apps that are booming to experience momentary states of bliss and consciousness. How can we keep this state of consciousness and connection–stepping out of auto-pilot–to lead more authentically?

My take-aways that we discuss deeper in the podcast:

  1. Tune in to areas that are out of balance emotionally, physically, and mentally to address the imbalance. Tuning in helps to cultivate inner peace and shift out of victimization
  2. Imbalance can occur in different areas. Nicole discusses 7 leadership dimensions from her book “Leadership Intelligence” that she uses to coach leaders on heightening their authenticity. The first step is to increase consciousness, balance and connection in order to work on each dimension.
  3. Keep your batteries charged helps you manage your saboteurs, work towards imbalance and progress. It will also help you work through the emotional triggers that arise when you grow more conscious.

Renée shares her experiences enabling leaders who lead digitizing firms in different industries. We discuss:

  1. How leaders can show up and hold space for people during change
  2. How to engineer the plane as it flies with trust
  3. How to lead constructive dialogue to help establish a speak up culture

My top 3 learnings on how leaders can build trust for a speak up culture:

  • Reflect on your role as a leader and ask yourself: How can I better be of service to my people? What's my role during change?
  • Earn trust by working on your relationship with people: show up, and build security during change--people need to see you, feel your emotions, and know that you’re there for them if you want them to speak up
  • Stay in consistent, in presence and in speech, and combine this with a willingness to be authentic and expose yourself--model the behavior you expect of them

Insights from philip on following your purpose and creating your future:

Birds fly in the sky, fish swim in the sea: What feels natural to you? What are you supposed to be doing?

1 Make life your own: What are you here to do? Answering these questions will help you kick-start your journey to finding your purpose (or your Dharma):

  1. What do you enjoy doing? What would you do for free?
  2. Are you good at it? What does it take to master your craft?
  3. Who will benefit from this?
  4. How can you do this sustainably?
  5. Follow your intuition and synchronicities

2 Eager to transform: A journey of emancipation and transformation awaits you, where you question socialization, detach from key figures and attain a new level of consciousness that allows you to find your purpose and create a meaningful life.

2 Find the courage, and be ready for rejection: The odds are stacked against you when you do things differently, it can be scary. Find the courage, do it anyway, and get ready to face failure, setbacks, and rejection.

3 Speak about the challenges: The journey of self-discovery is tough, but rewarding as you learn so much. Dealing with failure, setbacks and rejection is easier if you open up and share your struggles; it allows you to connect with others who may experience the same. We musn't journey alone.

4 Enable others: Leaders in any field have the most important jobs: help people connect to their purpose. They can do so by focusing on what's there and already works, and amplifying that by creating further fields of purpose and permission.

How does cybersecurity help leaders to take more risk? How do you unite industry players to drive digitalization in an industry and increase digital adoption? And how do you build a culture that allows each individual to unfold and contribute to innovation?

Natalia speaks on overcoming the fear of implementing digital products and services, how to increase adoption by building trust, and the inner work required to become an inclusive, industry leader.

My Key take-aways and Learnings from Natalia:

1 Cybersecurity is complex and not easy to grasp: Educate your stakeholders by stepping into their shoes—ask more questions and listen—to understand their reality and to close the knowledge gap.

2 Create a catchy, compelling value proposition to connect your stakeholder’s reality with cybersecurity or any digital service or solution and use storytelling to drive your message home.

3 Think collaboration over competition: There’s no time to reinvent the wheel—partner up and collaborate! Focus on your strengths as you unite players to contribute under a common goal, and focus on small wins to spur momentum .

4 Build a culture of belonging for equity, social justice, and innovation: The change starts within yourself. Inclusive leaders enhance satisfaction, and collaboration. This requires that we connect with our emotions, share our feelings, be honest to ourselves on our shortcomings, yet focus energy to build our strengths, and build trusting relationships with the people we work with through honest, respectful feedback.

Digitizing companies struggle with finding the right solution for customer ecosystems or socio economic challenges. Why is it so hard? Because we are trying to reduce complexity alone and in silos. We need bridges across silos to collaborate and find ways break down complexity to serve ecosystems and create interrelated solutions and services.

Insight from Julia on Leveraging Silos And Build Bridges

1 Learn to Leverage Silos: We need silos, but we also need to build bridges across silos to leverage the expertise inside silos

2 Which Silo is right? All views are right. The challenge is to get silos to focus on the customer's ecosystem and to guide conversation and value creation along the customer journey.

3 Closing the Skill-Gap to Work Across Silos: We often work in silos, because we don't know there are smarter ways to collaborate. And hiring one Design Thinker with human-centric problem-solving skills won't change the culture alone.

4 Resiliency: Are you able to ask yourself: Have I chosen the right approach? Will a silo approach suffice to solve this customer's problem? Putting our egos aside, reflecting and challenging ourselves and our intentions is key to working across silos.

Why do we vicitimize during change? Many learned they have little control over change, as it happens for the betterment of the firm's economic value. How we invite people to change has to be rethought if we want them to participate and own the change.

Insight from The Storytellers on Inspiring Change Ownership with Story:

1 Change Cynicism: Many don't believe the company will actually change. Storytelling helps convince people of the changes.

2 Stories Connect Change to People's Reality: Stories provide insight on the journey and they help people understand how the change connects to their job.

3 Participation in Change: We participate in the story when we relate with the story's protagonist and their journey of overcoming the change-challenges. This participatory experience teaches us learn how to own the change.

4 Enabling Middle Management for Change: Managers receive strategy slides and a high-level story, but they don't embrace it, because they lack the time to make it relevant to their teams. Managers must be equipped with tools to quickly break down the story for their teams.

5 How Story Works Top-Down: Leaders connect with people when they embody the story, let go of polished speeches, and speak from the heart. This requires a strongly aligned leadership team with consensus on how to overcome the hardship the company will face for consistency and conviction in messaging.

"I create my future, because I’m willing to learn and take risks" is the mindset of thriving employees. At Baloise, leaders struggled to inspire employees to adopt this mindset. The insurance company faced a dying clientele and desperately needed employees to take risk to acquire younger, high-risk customers. Beat shares how to change the culture to adopt a new growth strategy.

Key Take Aways:

#1 Identify change roadblocks: For people to shift into “I can create my future” mentality requires cultivating an understanding of where the company stands and addressing the underlying uncertainty.

#2 Mobilize people for change: Change requires a bottom-up and top-down approach. The company's strongest influencers are inside the organization, tap into them to develop the change narrative to take people on a journey and move them past uncertainty.

#3 Use story to bring strategy to life and inspire change: Fact-based presentations don't achieve buy-in, stories will, as they inspire people to interact with the strategy and change narrative.

#4 Inspiring leaders are relatable: Sharing a personal experiences on overcoming obstacles related to the change allows leaders to break the glass ceiling between the ivory tower and the people.

My Key Learnings

1 There's no conceptual blueprint of “fit for purpose workplaces” and it's a constant work in progress.

2 New work is about bringing out the best in people by considering their needs and engaging with them to understand them.

3 Considering needs requires being vulnerable: Feeling ok with not having all answers and having the courage or confidence to reach out to your people to find them.

#11 in short:

Do you ask yourself: "How can we nurture creative environments for innovators? How do we foster creativity and innovation in work spaces that are designed to execute? " Then this episode is for you.

5 Key Take Aways for Nurturing, Creative Environments:

.1. Test ideas as much as you can before building the business case.

.2. Establish a culture of experimentation by focussing working sessions around producing prototypes. Start small and with the end in mind. Let the prototype test results guide your decision-making on the next steps.

.3. Mindfulness is staying open and curious by exploring your feelings, accepting them, and moving on, key to creativity and empathy.

.4. Transformation starts at the individual level: nurture mindfulness within yourself first and develop self-compassion to alleviate fear and reduce pressure from inner judgement. This helps embrace the learnings during experimentation in the creative process.

.5. Apply mindfulness to create safe spaces for others to feel comfortable with the learning process during experimentation. Listen and invite people to discuss insecurities.

#9 in short:

Change is tough and at times confusing. How can we make it fun?

We discuss the importance of doing the foundational work to find consensus on the problem to be solved—defining a strong why—, and how mindset ensures sustainable transformation. Through our conversations it becomes clear that including our emotions is paramount to innovation, whether it's in workshops or in daily work activities. He provides insights and tools to develop growth mindsets, and leverage emotions for creativity, making change a more fun and inviting process.

Take Aways to Make Change Fun:

#1 Strong Why: Engage people to discuss "Why are we digitizing, innovating, or changing?" Consensus and clarity help avoid frustration.

#2 Growth Mindset: Get excited to learn and take others along with you by modelling openness and growth mindset behavior.

#3 Mindfulness: Tap into emotions to uncover doubts and insecurities to un-block fear and heighten creativity: Lego Serious Play is an option inclusive of emotions by storytelling; another are meeting check-ins, allowing for "emotional offloading” to reduce cortisol and cool our brain.

Questions to Leaders Who Seek to Heighten Trust and Change Buy-in:

1 How are you modelling behavior that allows people to trust you?

2 Are you putting your employees' needs first?

3 How are you showing that you're working on yourself?

4 Is your leadership team modelling desired behavior changes?

How can you empower yourself and your team and build inclusive leadership culture?

Key take aways:

  1. Inclusive leadership bridges old and new ways of leading with empathy

  2. Learn to trust your team with experimentation and observation

  3. Leaders guide their teams and help make difficult decisions

  4. Embrace your uniqueness so you can empower others

Can't wait to share my next story with you!
