A podcast where Taylor Kang, a tiny, Asian-American gets "ChatTay" with her guests about real, hefty topics: the struggles of balancing college, finding your dream major/career, managing your mental health, being Christian, and more! Tune in to hear how she is navigating the pressure of needing to "get her life together" just because the world expects her to. SPOILER ALERT: there's no secret tip to success, but just honest, feel good, heart to heart conversations with the people that inspire us.
After a LONG hiatus, I’m kicking off a new episode with Jenica, Lyla, and Christina, three lovely ladies that I met in my first year of college who have since started their own small businesses! While pursuing a degree is already challenging enough, adding a side hustle into the mix can sound like a recipe for disaster. However, when you have a strong passion for something, the sleepless nights editing an Instagram post or the time spent shipping orders out can start to become...worth it. Tune in and hear how these incredibly hard-working women started their businesses, Fiorre and Darling Joy, during a pandemic while juggling the complexities of being a college student.

About a month back, I had the privilege and honor to meet Beatričė, aka The Bliss Bean on YouTube! In April 2017, The Bliss Bean was brought to life through a blog that has since expanded to a YouTube channel with over 163k subscribers and 6 million views and a Podcast (where we recorded another episode together!) With content centered around productivity, self-improvement, journaling, and other habits/routines, Beatričė strives to be a helpful friend through her cozy, personal, and high-quality content. Grab a tea and join us as we spill the tea about what it means to be a YouTuber, how we perceive gap years, as well as our experience with eating disorders + losing our periods!

Today's episode features the extremely talented, Maia Mayeshiro! I've been following her on Instagram for five or so years now and have watched her grow up from her bedroom playing the piano + singing mashups of her favorite songs (#iykyk), to winning the crown as Miss Hawaii's Outstanding Teen 2017, to re-creating her popular YouTube cover, "Wipeout" on the ukulele alongside her brother. While this was my first time having a full-on conversation with Maia, there was absolutely no difference between the bubbly persona she puts out onto social media and the just as genuine personality I finally witnessed first-hand. Join us as we talk about when her passion for playing the ukulele started, why she graduated from high school at age 16, and what her overall experience of being a beauty pageant queen was all about! Welcome to the first episode of the Let's Get ChatTay Podcast! In this first solo episode, I dive into the reasons for starting a podcast this year (out of all years) and how the topics I want to cover in future episodes aligns with my interests and overall personality. Towards the end, I read a letter addressing my younger, 13-year-old self while reflecting on how I underwent depression, self-loathing, loss of friends, etc. in order to get to where I am today. Like most things, dealing with your inner demons is a work in progress, so I hope that I can give you some reassurance that it is okay to undergo hiccups with your mental health even after you've learned to let go of the past.
