Highly skilled in the mix and with a wide bpm range to adapt to many situation (125 to 160), his music is a blend of different Psytrance substyles: DarkProg, Darkpsy, Nightpsy, Psy Techno and Zenonesque, that he plays according to the time and the music that surrounds him, creating bridges between the different subgenres. BIO Basilisk is the founder of the Ektoplazm label group and distribution portal, co-founder of psychedelic techno label Techgnosis Records, and a veteran DJ with broad musical interests and an uncompromising commitment to quality. More than two decades of experience inform his practice, which emphasizes harmonic mixing theory and open-minded yet meticulous curation. He is currently based in Taipei, Taiwan.

CONCEPT My intention with this guest mix for Psybient.org is two-fold: to expand the horizons of what we consider "psychedelic downtempo" by exploring a wide range of adjacent and compatible styles of electronic music; and to demonstrate advanced mixing techniques in a chill out set, where many DJs just make brief transitions between tracks.

This mix contains multitudes: ambient and modular dreamscapes, bucolic IDM and futuristic electro breaks, quirky nu-disco workouts, deep and organic house and trance, bubbling acid experiments, shimmering slabs of dub techno, and more than a few references to the origins of psychedelic trance culture on the beaches of South and Southeast Asia. A careful selection of harmonically compatible source material allows for long, layered transitions, sometimes with three or four tracks playing simultaneously. Ideally this creates a sort of auditory illusion where tracks meld together and time collapses, making it effortless to lose yourself in this musical microcosm. Finally, on an emotional level, this mix is often more hopeful and perhaps even inspirational, though it is not without melancholy and sadness at times, a reflection of the global zeitgeist.

The concept of the mix :

"Most people know Anoebis for uptempo goa-trance music, but my love for ambient is also very big, so it was a pleasure to record something more slow and deep again! 🙂 As I believe music is a powerful tool that can stand above politics and hate, I had 1 thing in mind with this set: Unity! 🙂 That's why I chose certain tracks of certain labels and ended the mix with a track called "Prayer". I believe this type of music brings us together! We are all one"!

bio:

Anoebis is an old school goa-trance addicted international dj, playing this kind of music as much as possible for people that love to dance hard and float around on classic goa-trance! 🙂 But thats not my only love... I also like to play very floating melodic ambient and melodic forest music once in a while. Besides that I (and Mars) are also the managers of Suntrip Records! :)

The story of Anoebis starts in 1998. In that year I discovered goa-trance. Immediately I was SO convinced of that music that I bought all the cds I could buy! Pretty soon I had 200 cds which resulted in a first dj-set during newyear 2000. Around that period I didn’t dj alone. Mostly I played together with a friend called Dave (dj name Paprika) and together we were called PaprikanoebiS. Because Dave was too busy with his studies I played alone since 2001 and before I realised I was playing more or less every weekend.

The first years of the new millennium were hard. Around that period I was one of the last djs playing “melodic goa trance”, the old school style. Because I loved that style so much and it seemed more or less dead, I and a good friend (Mars/Fabien) deceided to start our own music label called Suntrip Records. Not much later melodic goa-trance started to revive in Belgium and some other countries in the world, and this resulted in many parties with only “old /newschool goa-trance” 🙂 This meant little sleep for me, but lots of joy! And for some obscure reasons this love for melodic goa trance continues untill today! Since 2010 my career also exploded more internationally...So I hope many more mindblowing experiences will come soon! :)

I have checked on how many parties I played by now, and in 2022 it must have been around 800 parties in my life… Mostly in Belgium of course, but in a lot of other countries as well... In more or less every European country, but also in Israel, Japan, Brasil, Egypt and more... Also, I am lucky to say I played on many festivals with a big name such as: Boom Festival, Psy Fi, Lost Theory Festival, ZNA Festival, SUN Festival, Apsara, Samsara, Freedom,... 🙂

Altough I’m doing this for a long time now I still love this music (it’s so deep in my heart, you can not imagine) and I still love dj-ing. Nothing fulfills my heart more then a crowd dancing and smiling in the first rays of sunshine! :)

About mix: Astral Dude is a Germany based DJ. In the past he had his own label for traditional electronic music. He also works as a music producer and radio presenter for a local broadcaster.

From 2007 to 2012 he produced the mix series "License To Chill" for an internet radio station. In 2018 this series continued until today. From an idea to produce a new mix series in which new tracks are then used, it was first published in 2015 under the name "Psybient News Mix". In this series you can find among the well-known artists also those who do not yet have a big name.

He has produced a total of 150 mixes so far, most of which can be found on Youtube / Mixcloud. There is a new mix on YouTube every 4 weeks. In 2020 his Youtube Channel was voted on place six on Psybient.org.

Hello everyone, DJ Khromata here, I am honored to have been asked to do a mix for the wonderful psybient.org. Most people know me as just a psytrance DJ, but I play many different styles of music, from progressive house, to psybreaks, to psychill/psydub. I have a series of psydub/psychill mixes called Apson Psydub that I started almost 10 years ago. It has been some years since the last one, and I consider this set for psybient.org the 9th in the series. The meaning behind the name Apson is inspired by the Apsara, or in Thai อัปสร (Apson), the beautiful dancing supernatural female beings of the clouds found in Hindu and Buddhist mythology. I hope you enjoy this set as we venture into the cosmic realm of the Apson where they dance sensually through dubby fractal space palaces floating in the sky... :) much love!

She has played at top festivals like Lightning in a Bottle, Symbiosis' Oregon Eclipse, Ozora California, Electric Daisy Carnival, Tribal Gathering, Astral Harvest Festival, Psytribe's Spring Frequency gatherings, four Dreamstate SoCals, Dreamstate Mexico, Dreamstate SF, and more. Shantiago is the electronic music project of Santiago Nieto. His work and intent is guided by the universe vibration, the love of music and the art of dancing.

As Dj, he started to play during mid-90s at clubs in Spain, delivering vertical and dancefloor oriented rhythms as techno and trance. Influenced by a versatile mindset, he started later to research a wider range of rhythms and felt in love with more calming sounds.

Fluffy Dimension is the Chillout Project from Doktor Fluffy. Music took allways a very important role in his life. First he learned to play Drums and also how to play guitar. 2001 he experienced his first psytrance event and was directly hooked from that energy of that music and the freedom at this event. In the following years was he a regular guest at many partys all over europe. He got close with a group of people in Switzerland and they also started to create own small events. AT one of this party`s, in 2008, he also made his first steps at Dj and again was he directly hooked. Since then has i played in Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Croatia, Poland, Netherlands and Belgium. The biggest events he delivered his music was at Psy-Fi Festival (NL), Waldfrieden Wonderland, Voov Festival and Synaptic Eclipse Festival. Since 2016 is he also stage-manager of the Chillout Stages from Waldfrieden Wonderland, Hai in den Mai festival and Synaptic Eclipse Events.

At the moment is he working in the studio to release soon his own music. But Djing will allways have a special place in his heart. The connection between DJ and Dancefloor is something really special for him and so long possibel will he play tunes for body and soul.

This year i refreshed it with new intro and outro featuring Hoffman voice

(*) technical part As you might now, i am “old” school DJ, i started mixing and scratching hiphop on vinyl, then after a break i started over again with DVS and controllers, for me real DJ MIX has to be “live” : recorder in one take with no editing.

Recently i started to learn music production and Ableton DAW software, and to practice this new tool i decided to make this mix “offline” as audio editing. Many DJs do this, and it was interesting for me to try. I am not confident i like this approach, however total control of timing and possibility to fix errors , overlay many samples are very interesting. It looks like it is possible to do perfect mixing. For now, I am not comfortable with beat matching / synchronizing in Ableton, so i just played tracks in original BPM.

As a result, this DJ MIX is very different from what i usually do, there is almost no FX, no LOOP, almost no EQ and no beat matching. I did very basic fade in / fade out, used High and Low pass filters and delays. I also didn’t work well enough on HARMONIC track selection.

some of you will be surprised to know that i play not only downtempo music :) I hope is a good surprise. This mix was at Burning Man 2016 at Disorient camp. This burn was great for me, and i was happy to spend 2 weeks in the desert and play this set on Friday 5 am. For my personal taste, techno music was not well represented at Burning Man, and i was glad to play a bit harder, more groovy and bassy techno rave set. I would add some music tags to explain what is inside “minimal / rave / psychedelic / pumpy”.

You can consider this as my Techno music demo. As you know, i am totally and fully in love in psychedelic chillout / ambient music, and this will stay the main focus of my project and this soundcloud page.

Gagarin Musical Background: I have been listening to all kind of different music, in the end 90s i discovered clubbing and had very interesting experience on dance floor (techno / jungle / dnb). Since that time i regularly attended clubs, raves, free parties, squats, warehouses all over the world. I love to dance to electronic music.

in the 2008-2010 i discovered psy chillout music on the internet and few years later i had my first psychedelic festival experience and discovered trance. With time i started to understand and feel better psychedelic trance music. Still, I have to say that there is only a VERY small fraction of the psytrance music that i enjoy. So even i attend main floor, i rarely stay there long :) And i would rarely go to a party with no chillout stage.

As for Techno music, i also have troubles in finding the one i really like, and i rarely go out to listen to other artist and DJ’s playing.

As all my previous "psybient / psychill" mixes published here, this is a live mix, recorded from 1st take and there is no editing except for a “Gagarin Project” voice sample that i added to protect this mix from being played by other DJs. Believe me strange things happen in this world.
