10 Days is a tangible step of obedience toward the answer to Jesus’ prayer in John 17:21: “Let them be one as we are one.” This is about seeing Jesus receive the answer to His dying wish, for the John 17 unity of His followers. “Jesus gets what He prays for!”
Every year in cities around the world, believers come together in a citywide prayer meeting for 10 days in September. We take a break from what’s normal on earth so we can enter into what’s normal in heaven.
We hope you'll join us in the Global Upper Room this September.

10 Days of Prayer is built around a rather unattractive activity: Mourning. What does it mean to mourn and lament? Why would anyone want to enter into mourning voluntarily? When we mourn, we focus on what we have lost and what we lack. As the Bible makes clear, recognizing what we are missing is often the key to receiving what we most deeply need. This teaching covers three areas of mourning, as it relates to our personal life, mourning for the unrealized promises of God, and longing for the return of Jesus. In Episode 1, he defines prayer as communication with God. Prayer is an essential ability for every person and can happen in many different ways. They discuss the mystery of seeing so many miracles while at the same time seeing other prayers not answered and how to navigate painful losses with the Lord.

Having sequentially covered the years from 2004-2013, Gregg and Jonathan take a step back from the story-line to discuss difficulties they have experienced while pursuing this 10 Days calling. Episode 9 focuses primarily on difficulties related to financial provision and how God came through, but not always in the timing they would have preferred. They discuss how believers are called to share with Christ in suffering and how meditating on the love of God is necessary to persevere through trial. Support this podcast
Building on the success of 10 Days Boston in 2011, the movement begins to expand to new cities, first to 3 locations in 2012, and then to 12 in 2013. Jonathan and Gregg discuss notable stories from those years including how God connected them for closer partnership in 2013. Jonathan shares key words from the Lord in that season including how God taught Him to expand 10 Days to new locations and how the Lord began to redeem the first "failed" 10 Days vision casting road-trip of 2005. Support this podcast
2011 was the beginning of the 10 Days movement as we know it today -- city-wide prayer, worship, and repentance during the 10 Days of Awe. However, this new expression was built firmly on the more "hidden" experiences of the past seven years in small groups, retreats, and in smaller city-wide settings. After sensing God's calling and confirmation in the midst of answered prayers and strange weather phenomena, the 10 Days Boston team begins to pray into how God would have them call their city to extraordinary prayer, fasting, and repentance with John 17 unity as a primary goal. God leads them into new patterns and strategies, resulting in a significant move of God in the city of Boston. Jonathan and Gregg discuss notable experiences, both good and bad, from the first 10 Days in Boston. Support this podcast
While the original vision of 10Days was of a city that had stopped everything, until 2010, 10 Days had never successfully been done at a city-wide level. Having been "kicked out" of their retreat setting, Jonathan saw this as the Lord moving them out of the comfortable and into the next phase of developing the vision. 10Days had happened in a small group and in a retreat setting. Now, how do you call a whole city to prayer for 10Days? Jonathan and Gregg discuss how this happened for the first time (2010) in greater Salem, Massachusetts and the strengths and weaknesses of this new 10Days model. Support this podcast
From 2008-2009, there were four formative 10 Day retreats that still shape the movement today. Jonathan and Gregg discuss miraculous happenings, God encounters, mistakes made, and lessons learned from these early efforts. Shortly after the life-altering experience of the first 10Days retreat in 2007, Jonathan heads back to Yale to hear first hand from the Fijian "Healing the Land team", a team of revivalists seeing entire towns and villages transformed by the presence of God. The similarities between their strategy for village transformation and 10 Days encourages him that 10Days is intended to be a city-transformation blueprint. During 10Days Pentecost in 2008, God "comes to town" in America just as He did in the Fijian villages with signs and wonders and...rain. After hearing stories of transformation, they are now actually living out one of their own. Jonathan shares the process of learning through trial and error what it really means to "mourn" and what God meant when he said that "My people will mourn before I return". This mourning is not burdensome--it is not full of condemnation towards ourselves or accusation against others. It's focused on what we have lost and what we lack both personally and corporately and rooted in a deep longing for the Lord's Return. As he would powerfully experience at the end of 10 Days in 2009, the end goal of Godly mourning is Joy! Support this podcast
Following a "small but successful" 10 Days in 2006, Jonathan is inspired while at a conference at Yale University to enter a season of extended fasting. During the fast, he heard the Lord ask him to "call 120 to pray for 10 Days leading up to Pentecost." This new direction from the Lord led to an amazing faith adventure. Unexpectedly, the emerging 10 Days team began to converge with significant threads of revival and missions history. Ultimately, this led to the first 10 Days retreat in Northfield, MA in 2007 at an enormous, empty campus founded by evangelist DL Moody. This "revival lab" experience was full of firsts. This was the first time they saw what could happen when believers "stopped everything" to seek God for 10 Days. For Jonathan, this time touched on an even deeper desire--it was his first time experiencing what it feels like when believers are "one as the Father and Son are one", a small but significant measure of John 17 unity. This is the fourth installment in a multi-part series of interviews telling the story of 10 Days in depth from the perspective of the founder, Jonathan Friz, interviewed by 10 Days board member Gregg Healey. While many people have heard elements of the story of 10 Days, this is an in depth retelling that includes many stories that have never been shared before publicly. You'll hear it all--from amazing victories to dramatic and painful failures. Jonathan and Gregg are good friends and it comes through in the playful and fun conversational style of the interviews. In Part 3, covering events from May 2005- June 2006, Jonathan and Gregg discuss the fall out from the first "failed" attempt at calling believers to participate in 10 Days. After being on the verge of walking away from the Lord and navigating cripling depression, Jonathan makes the unlikely decision to go to seminary near Boston, Massachusetts. While he thinks God is angy at him and is sending him to "spiritual Siberia" in the Northeast, it's actually a divine set-up for restoration and revival. While reading Jonathan Edwards, who wrote about the First Great Awakening, he realizes that many people from that time period who experienced revival also made similar mistakes to his own. Finally, Jonathan finds help and salvation from an unlikely source...a gazelle! This is the third installment in a multi-part series of interviews telling the story of 10 Days in depth from the perspective of the founder, Jonathan Friz, interviewed by 10 Days board member Gregg Healey. While many people have heard elements of the story of 10 Days, this is an in depth retelling that includes many stories that have never been shared before publicly. In Part 2 of the 10 Days Story, Jonathan continues to share the "origin story" of 10 Days, following his visionary experience in September 2004. In 2005, Jonathan and a friend set-out on an epic roadtrip to share the 10 Days vision and bring revival to America. While they have amazing divine appointments and supernatural experiences and cast vision all across America, their faith journey for the ages ends in disappointment, discouragement, and offense after their first failed attempt to see a "city stop" for 10 Days of Prayer. This is the second in a multi-part series of interviews telling the story of 10 Days in depth from the perspective of the founder, Jonathan Friz, interviewed by 10 Days board member Gregg Healey. While many people have heard elements of the story of 10 Days, this is an in depth retelling that includes many stories that have never been shared before publicly.
