One of the most difficult, but rewarding parts of djing early doors is setting the tone of the evening, and allowing the first guest DJ to take centre stage without bashing out big tunes before hand. It is, in my opinion an art and not everyone can do it.Here's a 60min mix I made the other day, with some old and new tunes to give you a flavour of what I would look to play earlier on in the night. Introducing Drewsta. Drewsta started DJ'ing in 1999 on a pair of Citronic Turntables - progressing in 2006 to the Industry Standard 1210's. During this time he was mainly doing House Parties and Online Radio where he fell in love with classic House and Trance music, then getting his first club set in a local night club. JFK is today mainly known for playing trance music. A challenge came in asking him to play a 2020 version of house music that JFK would play today. Here is the result, what do you think?
I was challenged to recreate a full on '99 vinyl only set.
The brief was to keep the energy, and get as close to the 1999 feel as possible.

This is the set I had prepared for PaSSion's 25th Birthday on March 14th 2020. I have recorded it in its entirety as a tribute to the fallen DFOP David Shuttlewood. The first track is extremely poignant for many reasons, and this was due to be the last time I was ever going to play this version at Passion as I had decided to retire it so that it wasn't overplayed. I have thought long and hard about whether posting this set was the right thing to do, in the end I decided that the love that is shown at Passion needs to be shared. This was an event that will be remembered for many reasons, some will never be forgotten. This ones for you Dave, a true DFOP Love & Kisses JFK x

JFK's NuOldSkool House Mix. We were all house DJs once. I am known more recently as a trance dj I wanted to record a one off mix of what I would play today if Trance never existed. Ive used some new tracks, bootlegs and remakes, I had a great time recording this and going back to my roots. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it. New trance on the way too.. this was just a bit of fun!

Gatecrasher's visit to the Coventry Cathedral Ruins to host the latest GC Outside was nothing short of spectacular. This venue was the ideal setting for an outdoor event in conjunction with the Gatecrasher Classical Orchestra and headline DJs as well as being of historical significance.
With the weather at a wonderful 26 degrees for most of the day and the superb Gatecrasher Classical Orchestra showcasing an ensemble of the very best Trance anthems, who else could possibly follow on?
Well....Scott and I have known each other for far too long!!! 🙂 From early days of DJing to promoting and producing for respective club brands, our paths have frequently crossed. We've always had this friendly rivalry which has seen no end to our capability to deliver some of the most memorable sets on a night! Synergy is a combined effect which is greater than the sum of separate parts which in this case is Scott Bond + JFK.
From the intro tune, I just knew it would be something special. As each track was played, our competitive spirit brought out the very best in us. The music flowed naturally as we were both feeding off the positive energy of the crowd whilst the sweet release of pumping Trance vibrated off the cathedral walls. Personally, those 90 minutes just flew by and we didn't want to stop!
