PRMv2 Ep 013 Gunsite 270 General Rifle AAR Hey there Shooters,

I am very excited to share this episode with you. Recently, I had the opportunity to attend the Gunsite 270 General Rifle Class. For those who are unfamiliar, Gunsite is the oldest civilian firearms training center in the world. It was founded by Colonel Jeff Cooper back in the 1970s, and is the birthplace of the modern pistol technique. That being said, I was attending for a different reason. I was hoping to learn more about firing a rifle from unconventional field positions and using a sling for shooting support. I was fortunate enough to be exposed to both of these topics in the class. In this episode wioth Ken Campbell and Gary Smith (of Gunsight) We discuss the 270 class itself, and I share some of my own lessons learned.

They discuss some of Scott’s background, what things were like in the early days of PRS matches and where things have migrated to.

Hey there shooters. This week we have a nice, low-key episode for you guys. Marcus catches up with his long-time shooting buddy Jeremy Collison. They discuss their starts in long range shooting. Jeremy provides some sage wisdom on priotizing the shooter over the gear and his real life expierence in not chasing the latest and greatest and making time for training. He discusses how the 109 Eld-M and 110 Atip offer exellent interchanability and how settling on a specific load has allowed him to spend less time at the reloading bench and more time at the range. Finally, Marcus and Jeremy both emphasize the importance of having a pre-stage checklist and how following it every time until it become automatic frees up mental bandwidth for the shooter.

Hope you guys enjoy it!

Hey Shooters we are back. In this episode, Scott Whitehead (Multi-time Mammoth Winner) and I have a conversartion about Mammoth Sniper Challenge, 3D printing, Rangefinders, Rimfire shooting and more. He is an amazing shooter/ competitor and very methodical about his approach to shooting. In addition to the information he shares, he lays out some elements we can all focus on to become better shooters. (I intend to make this a regular addition to the show)

  1. Shoot your rifle from various positions in a variety of conditions. What is your honest average group size? Is this affected by using factory ammo? If not, maybe you would be better served by practicing positional shooting than time at the reloading bench.
  2. Shoot a pistol. Focus on shooting tiny groups through smooth, deliberate trigger technique.
  3. Spend time with your gear. Understand how to service all of the critical components. Become intimate with everything you use to execute a shot. Dryfire and practice setting up your tripod ect.

GO TO A MATCH
