With five days of thrilling action set against the magnificent backdrop of the rolling Sussex countryside, The Qatar Goodwood Festival – popularly known as 'Glorious Goodwood' – is one of the highlights of the flat-racing season.
Goodwood Racecourse is often described as the most beautiful racecourse in the world and, now in their seventh year, the Three Friday Nights fixtures have gained a reputation as some of the most exciting events on the south coast. Thousands flock to see internationally renowned acts in the intimacy of this unique setting.
Each of the Three Friday Nights feature six quality horse races in the evening, before the sun goes down and lasers light up the dance floor in the Parade Ring. The acts perform on an elevated stage, overlooking the crowds who gather in the hallowed Winner’s Enclosure. The atmosphere is always electric!
The Goodwood Family Race Day returns this summer, in association with the NSPCC for the second year running.
On Sunday 11th June, families will be able to explore the famous racecourse and learn about the sport of horseracing, whilst supporting the leading children’s charity.
Goodwood Racecourse is delighted to introduce a three-day artisan food festival in 2017. The Festival of Food and Racing, in association with Great Taste, will take place from Thursday 25 to Saturday 27 May and will feature a fabulous combination of award-winning food and drink alongside high-quality horseracing.

Frankie Dettori is 10 winners short of 3,000 in his career in Britain and was heading to Sardinia for a couple of day in the sun with his family after Monday’s press conference. Though he could well reach the milestone before Glorious Goodwood opens on 26 July, he concedes that the Sussex course would be an appropriate place to do so as it is also where he rode his first British winner in 1987.

Hayley Turner, the most successful female jockey in British racing history, will take up the role as ambassador for the 6th Magnolia Cup. Turner, who retired at the end of the 2015 season, will be providing the riders with guidance and support along their journey before they ride in the charity race.
Galileo Gold and The Gurkha, the two main protagonists for the latest Duel on the Downs in the Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood, were both confirmed as on course for the race and in good form after recent outings at a press event to launch this year’s meeting in London on Monday

Three thrilling days of racing in May - Set your pulses racing and begin summer in style as the eyes of the racing world turn towards the Sussex Downs. With a number of races acting as trials for the prestigious Qatar Goodwood Festival in late July, the May Festival provides a cornucopia of racing over three thrilling days with total prize fund exceeding £450,000.
Laylaleigh will be creating a Goodwood collection for the forthcoming season – which starts with Opening Saturday on 30 April – with each hat being named after a woman who has been significant to the Goodwood Estate’s history. French aristocrat Louise de Karoualle is celebrated with a piece named ‘Duchess of Portsmouth,’ while the ‘Lady Emily’ hat takes its name from the lively and head-strong Lady Emily Lennox.
As preferred milliner, Laylaleigh will lend its skills to helping shape the image of the Racecourse, leading the style and setting the trends for racegoers to follow.

William believes that his best chances lie with Gavlar in the 2m5f Goodwood Stakes and Solar Flair, who may go for either the The Natwest Stakes or The Qatar Stakes, both over 7f.
Goodwood Racecourse is very pleased to announce Harry Bentley as the new ambassador for the 2014 season. Bentley, who grew up locally to Goodwood Racecourse in Sullington just outside of Storrington, is one of the leading young jockeys in the UK who has already achieved a number of wins domestically and internationally. Bentley has spent the first three months of the year riding for Ismail Mohammed’s Millennium Stables during the Dubai International Carnival. Since returning to the UK for the start of the flat season, Bentley is retained second jockey to His Highness Sheikh Fahad Al Thani, retained rider to trainer Olly Steven’s Robins Farm and first retained jockey to Ahmed Al Shaikh.
January this year proved very successful for Bentley internationally when he achieved a six timer on a nine card race in Doha. Bentley is set to also ride in his first Classic when partnered with Lightning Thunder in the 1,000 Guineas next month for trainer Olly Stevens.
Goodwood Racecourse announced award-winning British Hat Designer Vivien Sheriff as Official Milliner for Glorious Goodwood 2014. Following traditional millinery practice combined with cutting edge design, Vivien has created three bespoke limited edition Goodwood panamas for ladies and gentleman. Each retailing at £275, t he panamas can be purchased from the Goodwood Shop whilst the women’s will also be sold through luxury British department store, Harrods.
