The first customer today reports that the previous night, his right nipple had moved away from its usual location. He noticed its absence when he looked in the mirror and found it in his armpit.
‘Wow,’ I say with a slight frown. I have never heard of a migrating nipple before. ‘Let’s have a look.’ I slide the door shut and motion to him to pull his T-shirt off.
‘Oh, it has moved back now,’ he says.

In this episode, I chat with Dan about his book and his journey so far.
Dan Moyane was ten years old when he lay on his back on a patch of grass at his parents’ home in White City Jabavu, Soweto, looking at the moon and thinking, ‘I don’t want to die unknown.’ The year was 1969, and Neil Armstrong and his team had recently achieved immortality by completing the first moon landing.
It was the knowledge that the astronauts would be remembered as long as the world turned that made Dan realise that he, too, would like to be remembered by people outside of his immediate community, just as he would like to find out more about what lay beyond his horizon.
Dan’s insatiable curiosity and love of learning have ensured that his name has, indeed, become known throughout South Africa. This is the story of how he achieved his goal – from his days as a student at the apex of South Africa’s political turmoil to his years in exile in Mozambique and his first job in media, and the trajectory of a career that would see him become one of South Africa’s most highly regarded and influential broadcasters. It is a career that led Dan to interview prominent leaders in Mozambique and South Africa and become acquainted with the likes of Nelson Mandela and Graça Machel and saw him cover the country’s birth into democracy and help shape South Africans’ understanding of the changing world around them.
I Don’t Want to Die Unknown delves into these experiences, giving a glimpse into the inquisitiveness and desire to know more, do more and be more that has driven Dan Moyane. It offers a rare insight into the man behind the microphone – his ambitions, trials, and motivations.
Part memoir, part legacy, this book bears testimony to the fact that far from dying unknown, Dan is one of South Africa’s most important, high-profile media players, and his story provides the framework for his next significant question: How best to use his public profile to benefit his countrymen.

In this episode, I chat with Alex about how he built Capital Legacy. We also talk about why Wills are so important.
Testament to their mandate of making it easier to get your Will in place is the 380,000 clients they have assisted over the last 10 years. This number grows monthly with, on average, 11,000 new clients placing their trust in Capital Legacy to ensure their Legacies are protected too.Passing away without a Will is problematic in quite a number of ways. Shortly put, though, it means that the deceased dies intestate and his/hers last wishes will most probably not be adhered to.
Capital Legacy draws up Wills at no cost to their clients, puts plans in place to cover legal fees and takes care of deceased estates. Because of the company’s focus on wills and its specialised processes, it finalises estates on average much quicker than industry standards.Word of mouth regarding Capital Legacy has been a big part of the thousands of enquiries the company gets every month and is a testament to their focus on good old-fashioned client service.

In this episode, Mills and I have a frank and open chat about South Africa and where we are heading or where we could be heading.
At the core of the dismal state of the current world order is the failure of global governance … the seismic global economic power shift – from industrialised to emerging economies … is taking place within the context of a glaring leadership vacuum.’ – Mills Soko.
Over the past 20 years, the global political economy has experienced its most profound shifts since the industrial revolution. In South Africa and the World, Mills Soko reflects on some of the salient issues that have pervaded public discourse during this time, analysing them within the context of the contemporary South African political economy and the country’s position in the world.
Arranged thematically, the essays were all written during a defining period in recent history, a period that has witnessed, among others, the accession of China to the WTO, the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the US, the invention of the iPad, the birth of Facebook, the 2008/9 global financial crisis, Brexit and the global coronavirus pandemic which began at the end of 2019.
The turbulent multipolar world demands visionary political and economic leadership, supported by institutions well attuned to contemporary conditions. Such leadership is in short supply. Nor is the existing institutional architecture sufficiently equipped to deal with a complex array of economic, social, environmental, technological and demographic challenges.
Mills Soko highlights what has not worked in politics, leadership, foreign policy, the economy, the African development trajectory, corporate ethics, international trade, global governance, and the thread which underlies all these issues – the importance of strong, decisive and accountable leadership. He counters his criticism with what has worked and offers views on how some of the problems that have constrained progress in South Africa and the world can be solved.
A central message emerges from his writings: leadership and governance matter, whether in the national or international context. It is a message that permeates all the chapters in the book. And it goes to the heart of what South Africa has gone through over the past two decades and where it is today.

In this episode, I chat with Carryn about the future of work and how this may impact corporate companies.
There is no denying that the world - and the workplace - has shifted significantly since the start of the pandemic and has left lasting impressions. A new South African report has tracked the new trends around ‘The Great Disruption’ which includes the following: - The #MeToo and #BlackLivesMatter social movements have spilled over into the workplace. Many employees are no longer willing to work endlessly towards a purpose that doesn't resonate with them. - Mental wellness is top of mind with companies responding with digital detoxes, 4 day work weeks and mental health days - Only 10% of employees say they don't have the proper internet connection to work remotely effectively. 42% say they lack the office essentials required. - The average time spent in work meetings is 10 minutes longer with virtual meetings than with face to face meetings. - It is estimated that 50 million people consider themselves to be content creators. More kids want to be YouTube stars than Astronauts. - Employees are rethinking when, where and why they work leading to mass shifts in skills, jobs and locations.
In this episode, I chat with the CEO of Future Forex Harry Scherzer. We discuss who Future Forex is and dive into what they do.
Crypto Asset Arbitrage is the process of buying a crypto asset on an offshore exchange and instantly selling it on a South African exchange at a profit. This is possible because crypto assets typically trade at a 2-5% premium in South Africa.
With Crypto Asset Arbitrage you’re not directly investing in the crypto asset, but rather capitalising on inefficiencies that exist in the local market.
In this episode, I chat with Tramayne about his book The Shepherd And The Beast, the hero's journey for leaders.
The hero’s journey is for everyone. We all need to be leaders in a world awash with people’s opinions and personalities. We are hyper-connected, but we are becoming less human.
We are all stepping into the journey and finding the guidance and lessons to grow as a leader and a person. And along the path, we find our mentors and face our trials. We are distracted, and we fail – we are human, after all. In the chaos, we eventually find the balance required to grow. This is a book about facing demons and meeting mages.
The Shepherd and The Beast is about the universal truth that binds us; we are all the same, just on different parts of the same mythological journey.
The Tyranny of Growthis a modern epic that exposes the lie of economic growth. It provocatively recounts how the 2008 global financial meltdown and COVID-19 pandemic have become the leading cause of governments’ and multilateral institutions’ global spectacular failure. It brilliantly explains how a single number – GDP – came to have such bewildering power over our lives, despite its ruinous consequences. But ultimately the book strives to illuminate a new way of imagining the world.
An extract from Unlocked by Tracy Loubser
“Trapped in a passionless marriage.
So, we become liars. We become liars trapped behind scriptures and moral facades. We learn to hide ourselves behind our reputations, as long as we look good to society. We put others and their aspirations before our own. We are taught that if we make a promise before God, then that covenant is cast in stone, even if your feelings do not align. That if you were once out of integrity, you can never go back. Even if it means you become a blatant, perpetual liar. We learn that there is no point of return; and no turning forward either. We learn that where we make our bed, we sleep. We learn that there is no justification solid enough to even tempt squeezing our new, evolved, wiser self through the cracks of a promise once made.
We are told that we are warm when we are cold; that there are many things to be happy about, when we feel sad.
When we cry out that we are hungry – hungry for more – we’re told we should be grateful for the fill we already have on our plates.
We are told how to feel. And we are told how not to feel.
We are moulded into an expectation of uniformity; homogenised into a fictitious ideal of normality.
So, we stay. And we pretend.
We mask and we ache. With a smile. We laugh when all we really want to do is cry. We close our eyes and focus on the positive and turn away from the knowing – a constant gnawing groan from somewhere deep inside of us. We tell ourselves that we’re being silly – a hopeless reiteration of what we’ve been told is silly. We turn a deaf ear to the loud hungry pangs from our gut.”
n The Rise of the Sharing Economy, Kevin Govender shares his insights and expertise on the evolution of the sharing economy, consumer behaviour, and alternative business models, and empowers consumers to rediscover and realise the enormous benefits of access over ownership, and the potential savings in time, money, space and the opportunity. Access is a cultural and socio-economic phenomenon that is transforming businesses, consumers, the way we live, work, learn, consume, commute and play.
Access is the new ownership.
In this episode, we discuss the state of South Africa and what we as ordinary South Africans can do to start a movement for positive change.
In this episode, I chat with Terry about her book White Trash My Year As A High-Class Call Girl.
This is an incredibly raw and real account of a year in the life of the author. In my opinion, a book that took incredible bravery to write and is a must-read.
About this book:
Raised during the Rhodesian bush war and immigrating to SA at the age of 11, Terry is shaped by a white culture that is racist, unstable and deeply divided. Her childhood is bizarre as adults around her insist on living their version of normality while the world falls apart. White Trash is a remarkable memoir told with savage honesty as the narrator unravels what it means to be a white African. It's also a story about finding a shard of light amidst the depravity in a quest to reinvent the self. http://www.nb.co.za/en/view-book/?id=9781990973383 https://www.wattsinvolved.com/
In this episode, I chat with Phakamisa about his latest book entitled Native Merchants The Building Of The Black Business Class In South Africa. This is a fantastic book and has a look at history not many of us are aware of.
Dispossession of fertile, mineral-rich land is correctly repeated as the root cause of the economic precarity of Black people in South Africa. Colonial wars are rightly foregrounded but in a way that frames black people as having existed outside of the organised enterprise.
This book builds and adds dimension to the picture of black people’s economic participation, taking the narrative from pre-colonial mining and spanning the colonial and apartheid periods, detailing tactics of economic exclusion.

So join Allen Ambor on a rock ’n’ roll ride through the restaurant business and pioneering days of franchising in South Africa. Allen's exuberance for life and exacting management style shines through on every page of this memoir of a man who went from being a hippy waiter to opening the first Spur in 1967 and growing it into an empire that included more than 500 franchises under the Spur, Panarottis, John Dory’s and RocoMamas brands.

On this episode I chat with Johan about his latest book Our Long Walk To Economic Freedom. It must be said that economics scare me and I have never really been able to grasp the various aspects of economics. So when I came across Johan's I was a little hesitant to read it. Boy am I glad I did, Johan uses catchy chapter titles and explains things in an easily digestible manner. Well worth a read.
How did Einstein help create Eskom? Why can an Indonesian volcano explain the Great Trek? What do King Zwelithini and Charlemagne have in common?
These are some of the questions Johan Fourie explores in this entertaining, accessible economic history spanning everything from the human migration out of Africa 100 000 years ago to the Covid-19 pandemic. Our Long Walk to Economic Freedom is an engaging guide to complex debates about the roots and reasons for prosperity, the march of opportunity versus the crushing boot of exploitation, and why the builders of societies – rather than the burglars – ultimately win out.
Johan Fourie is Professor of Economics at Stellenbosch University. He is a founding member of the African Economic History Network and president of the Economic History Society of Southern Africa. He has published award-winning peer-reviewed articles and is a regular columnist for local newspapers. On this episode I chat with Ali about some of the Myths around Covid and the various vaccines.
On this episode I chat with Tracy about her accident, her becoming a quadriplegic and her journey to date, we also discuss her book Brave Lotus Flower Rides The Dragon.
From Tracy: It is difficult to imagine what I had to overcome in a tough and often lonely journey. At the age of 28 my life was turned upside down when a horrific road accident left me a quadriplegic, paralysed from the neck down. My life as an athletic, marathon-running young mother and teacher was abruptly shattered.
Despite months of rehabilitation, I often found myself wondering if life was worth living. Everything I had taken for granted was now beyond my reach and the frustration at my helplessness threatened to overwhelm me.
Against the odds, I chose to live. My strength of character and determination prevailed and, sustained by the support of my son, family and friends, my care assistants and an unbelievably caring community, I started my journey to regain my sense of self-worth and independence. I rebuilt a life in a different, immobile body and reclaimed my identity. I am proud to say I managed to do this with grace and dignity.
Today I am a mother, a wife, inspirational speaker, writer and business woman. I’m most proud of my memoir, Brave Lotus Flower Rides the Dragon, which was published in 2017. I’ve received countless messages from around the world from people who’ve been inspired and touched by my story in many different ways. I hope that you too will read it. http://tracytodd.co.za/ https://www.wattsinvolved.com/

On this episode I chat with the visionary Mic Man,
Mic is a storyteller, futurist, entrepreneur and speaker on how exponential technologies can help to #futureproofAfrica. I believe that the future will be abundant, as the convergence and potential of exponential technologies increase and their price gradually drops to zero. This will ultimately democratise numerous industries and improve the lives of all.
After completing his honours degree in scriptwriting, directing and producing film at AFDA, Mic joined as co-owner of the family business, Mann Made. This Sandton-based award-winning experiential brand agency has worked with top global and local Fortune 500 companies. Mic has 19 years of experience in the media, marketing and eventing industry.
After completing the Singularity University Executive Programme in Silicon Valley in 2015, Mic realised that in order to #futureproofAfrica we need to embrace exponential technologies. In 2016, he established the non-profit SingularityU Johannesburg and Cape Town Chapters to help build the local community, so that South Africans can create employment, drive education and stimulate the economy with new opportunities.

From Robin:
There’s a new way to be, a new humanity. It’s not new to me but I’m feeling it freshly. I’ve been personifying it steadily since late last century and bringing it to the global community, yet it is still coming to me, ever-more amazingly. It’s reached a zenith of clarity as it tips into universal reality. The rest is history. I’m so happy. Like a lotus rises from the mud, so an enlightened species is emerging from the madness. Like a phoenix is born from the ashes, so a transformed consciousness is coming out of the cremated remains. Like the new needs the old to die, so the discontinuous human is surprising itself. I’ve written this body of books along the way to usher it all in. Here’s your ticket and your seat. Stand tall and enjoy the whole experience.

On this episode I chat with Adii about the companies he has founded, his Latest Book Life Profitability, and his latest business venture.
Adi shares the following with us:
I'm not a great fan of labels. For as long as I can remember there has been three labels which I have strived to achieve and make my own: family man / dad, entrepreneur and writer. Looking back at my journey, I can find evidence where I accelerated my pursuit of these things, even when it wasn't the most prevalent path. Hindsight is an exact science, right?
I have also valued learning and regard myself is a seeker. Today that mostly manifests itself in the way that I try craft my life and business with my highest value in mind: my family. Doing so has been a journey of self-discovery, making mistakes and re-connecting with the artist in me. Less science, more art.
Writing I'm an impulsive writer and I always write for myself first: writing has been one of my best, therapeutic tools over the years.
When I share my writing, it's because I am seeking connection and I hope that someone learns or realizes something that could contribute to their own journey. I also write as a way to leave a legacy and breadcrumbs for those that want to learn more about me.
In the past, I have published two books: Rockstar Business and Brandiing (free download from the archives). In future, I'd love to be a "traditionally published" author too. It just feels like I have a couple of books in me. 🤓
My latest book, Motion, is also my first collection of poetry. Motion is a somatic journey and is dedicated to poems about the challenge of creating something of value and putting oneself out there without selling out or losing oneself. Grab it on Amazon (Kindle or paperback).
Work My current commercial gig is CM Commerce after Campaign Monitor acquired Conversio in August 2019.
Conversio, which I founded in 2014, and where I'm trying to do things a little differently. It is also through my experience in building Conversio that I stumbled onto this idea of creating a business that could be life- and family-first.
Before Conversio, I co-founded WooThemes way back in 2007 when I was still calling myself "Adii Rockstar" (a quick Google should guarantee a good laugh). Before, in-between and alongside Conversio & Woo, I have worked on many other projects / ideas / startups that just didn't work out (this was the highest profile shutdown of one of them).

A serial entrepreneur since childhood, Marais and business partner, Gareth Leck, co-founded the highly successful Joe Public advertising agency in 1998. The agency’s Take-Away Advertising concept disrupted traditional advertising agency models and resulted in the agency winning the coveted Financial Mail Emerging Agency of the Year award in its first year of operation.

Yet I have seen hundreds of normal ‘everyday’ people like you and me, discover within them an ability to do what they once believed was the impossible.”

On this episode I chat with Gaynor about her business and we find out more about the world of virtual assistants.
Gaynor has a wealth of knowledge and is happy to help and assist those wanting to become part of this lucrative industry.
ABOUT GAYNOR:
Who is the person behind Typewrite Transcription and Typing Services CC?
I was born on the 21st of March 1975 in Kensington, South Africa, and, with the exception of a few years after I was married in 1996, I’ve lived here my whole life.
I went to school at Leicester Road Primary School and Jeppe Girls High where I matriculated in 1992 with a university exemption and half colours for chess (I was the captain of the chess team and was on the tennis team too).
After studying graphic design for a year, I decided it wasn’t for me and did a secretarial diploma at the then Germiston Technical College (in which I obtained a distinction in Information Processing, a fancy name for typing).
I always had an entrepreneurial flair. During school I sold artwork through advertising in the Top 40 Music Magazine, for R5 a piece! (Lots of drawings of Michael Jackson were done at the time!) I also worked part time in the local Checkers.

On this episode I chat with Ross about data privacy and the storm in a teacup that is WhatsApp. We also look at Telegram and Signal and discuss the implications of WhatsApp for business.
Ross specialises in data protection and information security, raising awareness and educating staff on the human aspect to what can, and does, go wrong in data protection. As an international speaker, facilitator, and consultant, Ross demystifies technical, security, and legal topics to make them accessible at all levels of the organisation.
He started as a paperboy in 1999, perhaps subconsciously influenced by the video game of the same title… His skill improved with practice (both at video games and real life), and his love for games saw him move into the field of IT. He then moved through a range of technical positions, with a brief dalliance in software development. Since then, Ross has spent numerous years in strategic management for a multitude of multinational software companies.
Ross has a particular passion for data privacy, having been a victim of identity theft and seeing first hand the impact of data breaches on both individuals and organisations. He aims to help organisations manage their data effectively, avoiding the pitfalls they may not be aware of.
His “happy place” is the intersection between business, technology, and people. He has a passion for helping companies get the best out of their business process and technology, all while improving the way that teams of people interact with these systems and each other. Ross loves simplifying the mysteries of technology and enabling people across the business spectrum, be it via speaking, training, or consulting.
Ross holds a Masters Degree in the Management of Technology and Innovation, is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/E) and is an EC Council Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH). He is a past National President of the Professional Speakers Association of Southern Africa (PSASA), and is a Professional Member of the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers (CAPS) and the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).

On this episode I chat with Dr Anne Biccard author of Saving a Stranger’s Life. The Diary of an Emergency Room Doctor
Fair warning this book will make you laugh and cry, and you will not walk away from it without a newfound respect for our frontline health workers.
Anne Biccard has worked as an emergency doctor in Johannesburg for more than 30 years. It is a job that is both terrifying and thrilling, where death can be outwitted by skill and quick thinking, and the pressure eased by dark humour. The coronavirus, however, has added another dimension of fear. In this heartwarming and at times hilarious memoir she recounts some of the cases that have burst in through her doors, such as the woman who mistook her Dettol for beer and the man who tried to run down his cardiologist. There is sadness, too, as she remembers the patients who didn’t make it. Above all, she writes of the camaraderie and dogged determination of health workers holding fast in the face of the Covid-19 nightmare as they battle, every day, to save a stranger’s life.

On this episode I chat with Michael about his book 2020 The Year that Killed Retirement
2020 The Year that Killed Retirement is a delightful book. Michael Hook believes that retirement as we know it is dead and urges the older generation, the Platinum members of society, to re-invent themselves.
In the second half of the book, nine South African contributors share their experiences of lockdown. They ruminate on ageing, adapting and reflect on disruption and change. The essays are as follows:
The Futurist – Thinking about our Thinking by Graeme Codrington
The Logotherapist – We are all Storytellers by Klasie Wessels
The Guardian Angel – What can I do to make things better? By Khanyisile Motsa (Mam Khanyi)
The Veteran Sportswriter – Sport in a time of lockdown by Colin Bryden
The Prisoner – Experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown from a prisoner’s perspective by Inmate 211289224
The Buddhist Monk – Through the eyes of the Corona Buddha by Antony Osler
The Scientist – Reinventing Ourselves in an Uncertain World by Anthony Turton
The Financial Planner – I believe that everyone should have a plan – Kim Potgieter
The Untimely Traveller – No Way Home: A South African’s lessons of courage and resilience after being locked out during COVID-19 level 5 lockdown by Julia Kerr-Henkel
A certain goodness shines through these stories. Michael hopes that some positives may come from this defining period, and that for seniors the best period of their lives is yet to come.

On this episode I chat with Lwando about her book Made in South Africa - A Black Woman’s Stories of Rage, Resistance and Progress
This is probably the most important book published in 2020.
Like so many of her generation, Lwando came of age alongside the beginnings and growth of South Africa’s constitutional democracy. Her journey into adulthood was a radically different one from that of earlier generations, marked by hope that changing perceptions would usher in a new and free society.
As a young lawyer intent on climbing the corporate ladder, Lwando’s life’s direction was changed by a personal experience of the oppressive capacity of a supposedly democratic government when it unjustly fired a close family friend and mentor from a senior government position. She found herself on his legal team and the turmoil the case created within her led her to further her studies in constitutional law, and to pick up her pen and share with a wider audience her views of what was happening in her beloved country.
Her outlook was further shaped by her experience of clerking at the Constitutional Court for Justice Edwin Cameron, which deepened her respect for the South African Constitution, and what it really means for a resilient people to strive continually to live up to its moral and legal standards.

On this episode I chat with Alison about her book My Best Worst Year - A Breast Cancer Story.
We talk about life, work and the journey from being diagnosed with breast cancer to the subsequent treatment and the lessons learned along the way.
Once the shock had settled, Alison decided that she would take charge. Not only would she take ownership of the dreaded disease, but she would do so with a positive mindset and prepare herself as best she could for what was to come. She did detailed research and paid close heed to what she was told by others who had walked the path before her.
As she navigated her way through surgery and the chemotherapy and radiotherapy that followed, Alison’s determination paid off. Not only did she make new friends, but she learnt valuable life lessons too: acceptance of the illness for what it was, the amazing impact of ongoing advances in medical science, and the importance of being able to ask for – and receive – help.

On this episode we chat with Kathryn about her journey and how she ended up creating the Money Savvy Group.
About Money Savvy Kids:
Born out of the need to teach our kids that money is something to be understood and respected, Money Savvy Kids (MSK) is the beginning of the end of financial mismanagement and misunderstanding.
MSK makes learning easy through fun ways to teach kids money matters.
The MSK financial curriculum ranges from grade 0 to grade 7 and combines real-world education with easy-to-understand modules to further enhance the children’s learning.
MSK is not just a product. It is a pathway to developing mind-sets that will ensure South Africa’s children not only work their way out of poverty, but that they have the tools to stay out.
MSK promotes in youth the skills, knowledge attitudes and behaviours required to be financially independent. This is critical to South Africa’s future because each person’s informed financial decisions help shape the country’s economy into the powerhouse it has the potential to be.

On this demo episode we chat with Chef Koo Pillay and Sarah Gray about the SA Chefs Association. What does the association do and what some of the plans are going forward.
On this episode I chat with Rob about his life and journey and Nootropics.
In 1995 a young boy was reading a book given to him by his father called Mega Brain Power, by Michael Hutchison. This was the book which started his journey into the wonderful world of nootropics. Mega Brain Power was far ahead of its time. It introduced the idea of nootropics a good 20 years before they become a mainstream subject. In fact, that's where he came across the term "nootropic" for the very first time. All the while he devoured any book he could find on the topic of self-help, and read many of the classics. This early interest in the mind and in self-improvement, together with his love of biochemistry in school, as well as his interest in health and nutrition from his mom's side, led him to go on to complete a BSc in Biochemistry at the University of Pretoria. It was whilst he was at university that he started developing his first supplement, a multivitamin. From University he entered into the field of personal development. He learned a lot along the way about human behavior, the mind, the flaws of the mind, counseling and critical thinking. He then moved into consulting as a healthcare practitioner, where he learned much about what people desire from supplements. From the wealth of customer feedback he could see for himself which supplements worked, what didn't work, and what was needed but was not yet available. All during this time he was developing many different supplements. Whilst each supplement he developed seemed to be very different from the other, the making of each was teaching him all the valuable things he needed to know in order to finalize his ultimate creation, The Nootropic Multi. Inspired by a mix of intuition, knowledge, personal experience, a genuine intention to bring about healing; and perhaps a touch of divine intervention, he created something extraordinary. This was the alchemical process, the transmutation of the intangible, the spiritual, into the physical. https://thenootropicmulti.com/ https://wattsinvolved.co.za/

Two years after handing over the reins Brett is now embarking on the next stage of his journey, starting a personal investment platform called CAMPAN. On this episode I chat with Travis about his journey, and his book The Middle how to keep going in pursuit of your goals.
On 1 January 1999, Travis Gale (aged 17) and Stephen Bonaconsa (aged 27) left Johannesburg on a mission to cycle across four continents and raise R1 million for children living with, and affected by HIV/AIDS in KwaZulu-Natal. They pedalled out of Johannesburg, riding mountain bikes equipped with panniers, carrying the basic requirements for an adventure. They rode unsupported. No Instagram or Facebook. It was just the two of them and the open road. The pair successfully cycled over 16 000 kilometres, across four continents, through 16 countries, raising R1.7 million for their cause.
When asked to share about his experience, Travis very rarely spends time talking about the start or the finish of the tour. The stories Travis shares are from The Middle. It’s The Middle that tests us with challenges, yielding a multitude of emotions. It’s The Middle that involves the raw and often painful need to dig deep, to push through the barriers that stand in our way, and show ourselves what we are capable of. The Middle is what we, as human beings, were designed for.

Digital media has opened up the options available for communication, and over the past few years, Norma has particularly enjoyed multimedia content creation and production. From podcasts to bespoke video channels to social media stories, she’s found it to be an exciting time to be in the field of communicating and connecting.
Most recently, Norma headed up the digital department for Ndalo Media, a South African publishing company that focused on business news, career and entrepreneurial content. One of her career highlights was interviewing former public protector and TIME 100 honoree, Thuli Madonsela. This was for the October 2016 cover of Destiny magazine. Unfortunately, Ndalo Media became insolvent and is currently under liquidation.
Consequently, since February 2019, Norma has been freelancing as a Writer and Editor.

On this episode we take a slightly different angle as we chat to Lucy about her life, work and journey.
Lucy says "my work involves working closely with others, as their transformation coach. Through my own journey, I have learnt valuable insight as well as tools to implement in order to bring about positive shifts in life. The journey is a very sacred inner process; whereby one needs to honor the healing process, forgiveness of self and others. To identify the energy “blockages” and better understanding of its relevance. I help others shift their perspective and understand things from a higher place of awareness and love. The mind is a beautiful tool, yet many do not understand the importance of positive mental health. The importance of all that you think, feel and project ... is all that you attract into your life. My programs and work are all remote, which means I can work with anyone regardless of where they are located geographically. The process begins with healing of self, awareness of self, loving of self. Releasing of all that is not if your highest good, shifting to a more positive mindset. Implementing daily tools, to bring about positive changes etc. In short; as within...so without. There are no mistakes in life; everything and everyone has a vital role in the journey. By working closely with each, I am able to help them heal, grow, learn and empower them to choose better for themselves."
On this episode I chat with Ross about purpose and his passion for people and his work.
Why should anyone care about what your company does? With a wealth of choice and information available at the click of a button, what puts you ahead of anyone else? 90% of companies fall into the trap of talking about themselves too much and not talking about the value they create in their target market’s lives. There's a good chance you've done it, too. You need to be able to effectively and consistently communicate the difference your company makes in the world and the lives of its customers in a way that makes people care enough to take action.
