Ok, this is a complete Rant. I don't do it often but this one takes the cake.

The CEO of @expensify @dbarrett decided to send out a political email telling all customers of his company to vote for VP Biden. While I completely support his right to opinion, using his company email and marketing list and alienating at least half of his customer base (sorry David, it may actually be more than that) was the biggest BONEHEAD move that I have seen all year.

Too many of this new generation of CEOs and Founders have had it too easy and have not had the hands slapped for doing things that could potentially damage their company's reputations. It is time for this to stop! This is not cancel culture, this is feedback on how you run a company.

While we can have our own opinions, that should not be reflected by our companies. They need to be Switzerland. This may or may not go anywhere or be heard, but it had to be said.

One of the challenges of every business is trying to stay focused in the face of all the distractions and craziness of every day. This is even more prevalent when it comes to small businesses and solopreneurs.

How do you stay on track? A way to look at this is the analogy of a beehive.

In each hive, there is one Queen bee. The responsibility of the queen bee is to lay eggs for the hive. If the Queen bee stops laying eggs the hive will die.

In all of our businesses, there is a queen bee role that is the most critical part of our business. If that role is not focussed on, the business dies. Just like a beehive, we need to protect and support the queen bee role. Do you know the queen bee role in your business? Leave us a comment. We would love to hear.

Today's episode is all about how you spend your time. Jeff is at the point in the process of reviewing what he is doing each day and how he is breaking down how he allocates his time every day. In the book Clockwork (https://amzn.to/3m4zWC8), Mike Michaelowicz describes time within your business as:

  1. Doing

  2. Deciding

  3. Delegating

  4. Designing

An entrepreneur should be spending their time in the designing realm as much as possible. Jeff describes what each of these levels is and how to track them using the Time Allocation Sheet that was developed for Clockwork which can be found on the http://Clockwork.Life site.

Episode 38 of Entrepreneur Essentials (Freedom Day Chronicles) focuses on explaining the concept of #FreedomDay and what it means from a retirement alternative. The concept refers to the point of our lives where we have enough income or enough assets to replace our work income. That is the first day that you go to work and not have to be there.

For some, Freedom Day may be reached sometime in their 60s while for others, Freedom day maybe next year. This depends on savings, investments or starting a business that replaces income. Freedom Day is not about a date as much as it relates to that transitional time.

On the schedule for today, Jeff is working on his instant assessment from the book PROFIT FIRST (https://amzn.to/2Hryyuj). The assessment analyzes the Real Revenue, Profit, Taxes, Owners Pay and Operating Expenses for a business.

Jeff also is also continuing his Time Analysis from the book CLOCKWORK (https://amzn.to/3jpta8F).

Tomorrow we will discuss the components of the Time Analysis worksheet developed by Mike Michaelowicz.

This Podcast was meant to be launched prior to the Coronavirus Pandemic and was designed to highlight successful entrepreneurs, bring on experts and talk about entrepreneurial finance topics. Well, we all know how that was thrown out the door over the last month.

I decided to launch this podcast to help fellow entrepreneurs find their way back from the economic destruction that this disease caused and help them find some new paths for their business.

We intend to help business owners understand what resources are available to them through the government, help them find alternative ways to grown their businesses through online marketing, and help navigate the financial challenges that we will all face as business owners.

Our companion websites and social media will be a resource for all of you. Please feel free to share these podcasts with friends that are also business owners.

We are going to be publishing these episodes on all major podcast channels as well as our website at www.entrepreneuressentials.net.

We will get through this
