red carpet. lina is exposed for not actually singing or talking and don and kathy sing another romantic duet. blackout, bows begin.
“would you” is recorded. lina and zelda see don and kathy hugging and lina gets really mad. l + z gossip in the dressing room and lina sings once again.
everybody hates the dueling cavalier because it sucks. cosmo comes up with the idea to make it a musical and then realizes that kathy can just sing for lina. singin’ in the rain is sung and don is really happy. (DO NOT SCOOP IN SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN. THIS IS YOUR FINAL WARNING.)
diction lessons. recording starts for the dueling cavalier and lina has trouble with her mic. simpson yeets lina off the bench. moses supposes + moses reprises are in this scene.
everybody was a dope. don is a stalker, cosmo is once again great at cheering people up. make ‘em laugh. simpson shuts down the studio and announces the dueling cavalier news (it’s gonna be a talkie). kathy meets don again and simpson is very scared of lina’s wrath. don sings kathy a love song despite having met her once. kathy falls for him out of the blue for some reason? this is such a long scene but it adds so much to the plot!!
party. lina gets caked, there’s singing and dancing from kathy’s girls, simpson introduces the idea of talking pictures. cosmo almost gets killed by lina.
