Jeramiah Dickey
Jeramiah Dickey was named Boise State University’s Director of Athletics on Jan. 2, 2021, joining the Broncos from Baylor University, where he had served as Associate Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics since February 2017.
Dickey’s tenure at the helm of Boise State Athletics is best encapsulated as “What’s Next,” a phrase that expresses both the athletic department’s strategic plan and its forward-thinking mindset. The success of “What’s Next” has translated into 42 team and individual conference championships since Dickey’s arrival, record-breaking academic performance and fundraising support, facility improvements that have impacted every Bronco student-athlete, and a reimagined experience for Bronco student-athletes and staff.
In March 2025, Dickey was named a NACDA AD of the Year. He was also named a nominee for the 2025 Sports Business Journal AD of the Year.
When Boise State unveiled the What’s Next Initiative in November 2021, it provided a strategic roadmap to enhance the trajectory and sustainability of Bronco Athletics. The multi-year plan cements Boise State as a leader in the industry by strengthening four key areas: infrastructure, revenue generation, student-athlete experience and marketability.
The revenue generation element received an immediate boost with Dickey’s arrival and has sustained itself throughout his tenure. The enhanced fundraising efforts are a direct result of the reimagination of the athletic department’s external units. Boise State added an outbound ticket sales team and invested in expanding its major gifts staff. The former has led to attendance records, including leading the entire Mountain West Conference in total attendance for the first time ever in 2023-24 and then again in 2024-25, and the latter has helped usher in more than 280 members of the Lyle Smith Society, accounting for more than $30 million in philanthropic commitments over the next five years. The Bronco Athletic Association (BAA) has also raised more than $100 million over the last four years and had four straight years of $20+ million in annual support.
The vision for Boise State’s future was brought to life with the April 2022 announcement of the Athletics Master Village, a plan for facility improvements and additions that will impact all 18 sport programs, as well as the department’s loyal fans and stakeholders. The plan includes 12 key priorities that have been deemed critical to Boise State’s future success. In August 2022, additional renderings and cost projections were released for the potential projects. In January 2025, Boise State broke ground on the North End Zone project at Albertsons Stadium, the first step toward realizing the Athletics Master Village. The North End Zone project will impact every Boise State student-athlete, in addition to revenue-generating opportunities with new premium seating options at football.
The Broncos partnered with AECOM’s sports practice to conduct a comprehensive facility assessment that led to the recommendation of and concepts for the Athletics Master Village. Boise State has also undergone a zero-based budgeting process department-wide and for all programs, and a Title IX assessment.
Overall, more than 100 facility projects have been completed under Dickey’s watch while another 31 are ongoing as Boise State enters the 2025-26 academic year. These projects included the Installation of lights and scoreboards at multiple sports venues, the largest locker room modernization and upgrades in department history, and several gameday improvements for fans cheering on the Broncos.
Boise State Athletics also launched Broncos United, an internal initiative that focuses on the investment in its most important asset - its people. The initiative keys on three areas, combining to create a holistic environment of supporting student-athletes, coaches and staff. The three components include physical and mental health, personal and professional growth, and community and campus engagement.
Under Dickey’s guidance, the athletic department has increased its focus on engaging with multiple constituencies, including the Treasure Valley community and former student-athletes. In the community, the Broncos volunteered at more than 220 different events and more than 50 local charities and schools impacted in 2024-25. The Bronco Athletic Association partnered with Athlete Network, a digital platform that expands the impact of the Varsity B Letterwinners Club by allowing alumni to effortlessly stay connected with teammates, fellow alumni and current coaches, student-athletes and staff.
Boise State has also used its focus on the student-athlete experience by expanding into several areas, including nutrition education for all student-athletes with two full-time performance nutrition staff members, fueling stations throughout to support all 18 sport programs, and supporting mental health with the BroncoBOLD initiative.
In Dickey’s time so far, through the end of the 2024-25 academic year, the Broncos excelled in competition and in the classroom. The Broncos have won 16 team conference championships, 26 individual conference titles, made 44 team postseason appearances and 22 as individuals, accumulated 25 All-Americans, 45 coach and student-athlete conference awards, and 298 all-conference honorees. Academically, the Broncos had a department-record 3.46 cumulative GPA in Spring 2025, which helped them turn in a department-wide GPA of 3.3 or higher in each semester since the start of the 2021-22 academic year. Boise State also sported a Graduation Success Rate (GSR) of 94 percent in 2023-24, which set a new record, and has an Academic Progress Rate (APR) of 991 or above in all four-plus years under Dickey, which is tops in the Mountain West.
Dickey has made seven head coaching hires in his tenure, including head football coach Spencer Danielson in December 2023. Dickey led a national search for the next head football coach at Boise State, but Danielson earned the job after leading the Broncos to a Mountain West title as the interim head coach to close out the 2023 campaign. Danielson went on to helped lead the Broncos to a second straight Mountain West title in 2024 and take Boise State to the College Football Playoff for the first time in school history.
Other head coach hires include conference coaches of the year Justin Shults (softball) and Luke Shields (men’s tennis). Shults led the Broncos to the 2023 regular season championship in his second season at the helm, while Shields has lifted Boise State to three-straight Mountain West (2023-25).
The success throughout the athletic department has driven the marketability of Boise State Athletics. The Broncos have launched the Bronco Sports App, partnered with Fanatics for merchandise, and instituted an award-winning NIL program to support student-athletes. In 2024-25, in addition to record licensing and merchandise, Bronco Sports Properties – a partnership with LEARFIELD – had its best year ever in terms of corporate sponsorships.
An El Paso, Texas, native, Dickey also previously spent time at the University of Akron, serving as Assistant Athletic Director for Development (2007-10), and at the University of Texas at El Paso (2003-06), working primarily in development and marketing and promotions.
Dickey earned a bachelor’s degree in sport management from the University of Texas in 2004 and a master’s of sport science and coaching from Akron in 2018. He and his wife, Elizabeth, have a daughter, Emerson, and two sons, Elijah and Easton.

We’re more than clean water.
Our mission is to bring hope and life to communities around the world facing water scarcity and spiritual hardship. We provide clean, safe, drinking water and share the Living Water in places with limited access to both.
We give away clean water to quench thirst for the day. And then we introduce Jesus to satisfy it for eternity.

Tommy AhlquistAhlquist CEO Tommy Ahlquist can best be described as a visionary who gets things done. Tommy’s work ethic paired with his inherent ability to see opportunity and turn it into something tangible and profitable has enabled him to practice a successful medical career as an emergency room physician, start and operate several successful companies and run a campaign to serve as the Governor of Idaho.
A self-described serial entrepreneur, Tommy first tried his hand at business as a teenager. While running several companies, Tommy worked his way through medical school at the University of Utah and residency at the University of Arizona in emergency medicine. Tommy went on to practice as a full-time ER doctor for 18 years, treating over 45,000 patients over the course of his medical career. It was during his time practicing medicine and discovering his aptitude for business that Tommy coined the phrase “you better have kerosene in your veins”— a mantra he has lived by throughout his career.
Tommy went on to found Stat Pads in 2001 after witnessing the life-saving power of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in his experience as an ER doctor and identifying the market space for service-based program oversight. Stat Pads is now the premier defibrillation service company in the country.
In 2005, he started Ahlquist Development, a commercial development company. Under Tommy’s leadership, Ahlquist Development developed and owned over two million square feet of office and retail space. Tommy’s inspired projects have patently transformed a number of cities in Idaho.
In 2018, Tommy partnered with Ball Ventures, one of the nation’s most successful development and investment companies, to found Ahlquist Development. Ahlquist is a commercial development and strategic capital investment company that delivers excellence and value to tenants, investors and partners. Because of the exceptional work done by Ahlquist, the company tagline is “Ever Onward.”
In addition to his resolute commitment to his work, Tommy is a deeply devoted family man and dedicated volunteer for his community. As such, while he isn’t working Tommy can be found with his wife Shanna and their four children in Idaho’s beautiful outdoors riding RZRs, motorcycles, snowmobiles, surfing, fishing and shooting guns. Tommy also gives time to dozens of community boards and has served as a lay minister in his church.
Whether it is related to his work, his family or his community— Tommy believes in ending every day with doing just one more thing— a principle he learned from his late grandmother that inspires his hard work, giving back and maximizing every day to its greatest potential.

Patrick Cleburne “Clebe” McClary was raised on a 10,000-acre plantation in the South Carolina Low Country. Young Clebe grew up hunting, fishing and excelling at sports. After fulfilling his dream of becoming a college coach, Clebe had plans to marry a beautiful Southern belle. Life was very good. But only weeks before the wedding (March 26, 1967), Clebe witnessed a startling event on a college campus that changed the course of his life forever – the burning of an American flag by students protesting the Vietnam conflict.
Dismayed by the lack of support for the country he loved, Clebe resigned from his coaching position and volunteered for duty in the Marine Corps.
Completing Officers Training School in Quantico, Virginia, First Lt. McClary said goodbye to his bride and became platoon leader of the 1st Recon Battalion in Vietnam. On his 19th recon patrol, deep in hostile territory, Clebe and his unit engaged in hand-to-hand combat with the enemy. Suffering devastating injuries, which included the loss of his left arm and left eye, Clebe continued to lead his men.
Clebe’s valiant battle with the pain and disabilities that followed is nothing short of amazing. He spent over two years in military hospitals, undergoing over 30 major surgeries and countless hours of physical therapy. Since then Clebe has used his powerful story of courage, determination, and strength to motivate audiences the world over.

McVicker’s vocational musical journey began by working with the late, great Rich Mullins. They performed concerts and wrote songs together. The two were roommates.
Shortly after a car wreck killed Mullins and badly injured McVicker, a song the two penned together, “My Deliverer,” was given the GMA Dove Award for song of the year…all while Mitch was going through a lengthy and difficult process of recovering from a coma-causing brain injury, collapsed lungs, broken bones, and nerve damage.
McVicker’s solo career has spanned nearly 2500 concerts in 49 states and 13 countries. Along with recording 13 full-length albums, he has made 2 EPs, released 9 official music videos and 2 live concert DVDs.
McVicker seems determined to make sure his musical journey continues to grow. In creating Where the Earth Makes No Sound, he returned to a recording situation he had previously thrived in and loves.
“A number of years ago, I recorded several albums at Greenjeans Studios,” says McVicker.
“Over the last few years, I decided to look into other recording situations and see what else was out there. And, while I learned and grew a lot from those experiences, I discovered that there is no better place for me to record than Greenjeans.”
So McVicker went back. He says, “I wanted to apply my growth to the rock-solidness and high-levelness of Greenjeans. I’m doing something completely new AND something I’ve done before.”
Both.
Mitch set out to capture the same spirit of his live concerts – using his signature construction of unique percussion tracks by looping junk, household items, and children’s toys.
“With my last couple of albums, I had been dabbling in recording perc loops the way I create them in concert…and not using drums,” McVicker explains. “But never, ever has it come together like it has on this new album.”
McVicker’s concert is a little bit Mark Twain meets MacGyver. His quirky and inventive approach includes insightful song lyrics, unconventional instruments, and profound storytelling. His concert connects the everyday with the otherworldly.
In 2024, McVicker will again embark on a full concert tour in support of Where the Earth Makes
No Sound.
McVicker’s theology is daringly simple – God’s love washes over and through us regardless of us and our circumstances.
“Instead of mindlessly thinking we have some control over God’s involvement in us and with us, let’s accept the truth that God IS,” McVicker says.
“God is everywhere…in our light and dark. God is in our ugly and beautiful. In our simple and complex. In our hairy and shorn.”
Both.

Athlete, Advocate, Woman
Riley Gaines is a leader defending women’s single-sex spaces, advocating for equality and fairness, and standing up for women’s safety, privacy, and equal opportunities.
Gaines graduated from the University of Kentucky, where she was a 12x All-American swimmer.
Riley has made waves for speaking out after tying UPenn’s Lia Thomas, a biological male swimmer on the women’s team, at the 2022 NCAA Division 1 Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships.
After Riley directly experienced competing against a man in women’s sports, being forced without warning or consent to undress before the fully intact male, and subjected to discrimination by the NCAA, she became one of the most powerful voices to speak out against the injustice, challenging the rules of the NCAA, USA Swimming, International Olympic Committee (IOC), and other governing bodies.
Riley now works for the leading women’s organization making real and lasting change, legally defining ‘woman,’ protecting Title IX, and defending women’s rights to single-sex spaces and equal opportunities. She has traveled the country speaking and has testified before the U.S. Senate, U.S. House, and countless state legislatures.

The World Health Organization estimates that roughly 785,000,000 people around the world lack access to clean, safe, drinking water. Over 800,000 die every year due to health complications caused by unclean drinking water. 300,000 of those are children under the age of five.
This reality of clean water scarcity is commonly endemic to regions of the world that also lack any evangelical presence or knowledge of the gospel message. Where there isn’t clean water, there usually isn’t any Living Water either.
The mission of The Bucket Ministry is to provide underprivileged communities around the world with both.
When we first meet an individual’s physical needs, they become much more open and receptive to their spiritual needs being met as well. It’s through this holistic approach that we’ve been able to watch God move in the hearts of thousands around the world and help end the physical suffering of even more.

Spencer Danielson was elevated to the full-time head coach of Boise State football on Dec. 3, 2023 following a three-week stint as interim head coach where he guided the Broncos to three consecutive wins and a Mountain West Conference Championship. Danielson becomes the 12th head coach in Boise State’s history as a four-year institution, subject to board approval.
“I am excited to announce Spencer Danielson as the next head coach of Boise State football,” Dickey said. “I value process over results. As exciting as it was to win the last three games and reclaim the conference championship, from the standpoint of hiring a head coach, it was more exciting to me to hear Spencer’s vision for the future and how he is going to approach the job full time. I am grateful for the work of our search committee to ensure we made the best decision for our student-athletes and Bronco Nation. I am extremely confident Spencer is an elite leader, a man of great substance and a rising star in the coaching profession who will lead Boise State football to a bright future.”
“I am so delighted to welcome Spencer Danielson as our next head football coach. From the first time I met him, I saw his powerful positive spirit and love for our student-athletes — something that all of Bronco Nation has now seen. This makes him an ideal leader and role model for our players, both on and off the field,” said Dr. Marlene Tromp, Boise State president. “Bronco football is a point of pride for our entire community, and Coach Danielson has the character and passion to impact the young men on our team and lead our program forward to great heights.”
“I am so honored and excited to be able to stay at home here at Boise State and to keep guiding these incredible young men,” Danielson said. “It is truly a blessing to be here in the Treasure Valley and to lead this program. This place has become home for me and my family. I am incredibly thankful to Dr. Tromp and Jeramiah Dickey for their faith in me to lead the Broncos. When you play together and you love each other you can accomplish amazing things, and we’re just getting started.”
Danielson and his wife Raechel have two young daughters, Eleanor and Rosalie.

Over the past 20+ years, a progressive neuromuscular disease has slowly taken away Justin’s ability to use his arms and legs. From each morning until night, Justin requires daily assistance in every aspect of life such as eating, getting dressed, bathing and even using the restroom.
Though immensely challenging, Justin continues to live life to the fullest and maintains a positive attitude through it all!
In the spring of 2012, Justin learned about the Camino de Santiago while watching Rick Steves on Public Access TV. Soon after, Justin asked his lifelong friend, Patrick, what he thought about tackling the ancient pilgrimage. Patrick's response was simple and direct. He said, “I’ll push you.”

Often we can see pastors, who are in the ministry for years, all of sudden get burnt out and feel the need to step down from their ministry. This is very likely due to a lack of proper energy management. We need times of stress to grow and learn but we also need times of refueling and a chance to recover from the stress.
