Ronnie Wood made a surprise appearance at the Black Crowes’ concert in L.A. on Friday night, joining them for a rendition of Faces’ “Stay With Me.”
The Black Crowes kicked off their 2024 tour earlier this month at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, which included a cover of the Velvet Underground’s “White Light/White Heat” for their encore. They’ll be on the road until early June, promoting the recently released Happiness Bastards, their first album in over a decade.
“Chris and I were stuck in this submarine for 24 years — and that’s what being in a band is like,” Rich Robinson told Howard Stern in March, referencing the fact that he and his brother Chris’ relationship has not always been easy and led to periods of estrangement. “And then you get away, and you can have more of a 10,000-foot view of what just happened.”
“It was like a kettle someone left on in a kitchen,” Chris added, “and I’m like, ‘Someone please turn the heat down.’ We needed that break.”
The Stones, meanwhile, are gearing up for their own tour, which begins April 28 in Houston, Texas, and will presumably showcase songs from their newest album, Hackney Diamonds.

It’s been 13 years since Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera topped charts with “Moves Like Jagger,” and still nobody loves it more than Mick Jagger himself.
On Wednesday, he posted an Instagram Reel of himself dancing to the song as played by a covers group in a bar with a decent crowd on the dance floor. But the band performs the song as if it’s too a stadium full of rabid Marooniacs, and Jagger responds by showing how, at age 80, he’s still got the moves.
The Stones singer waves his arms, and smiles for the camera, laughing at the irony with his friends in the clip. He crouches and grabs his crotch, strutting around like it’s the “Start Me Up” video, while everyone else in the place remains completely oblivious. “Moves like who !” Jagger captioned the video.

Roger Daltrey wrapped up his 24-year stint as the curator of the Teenage Cancer Trust Sunday night with a grand ‘Ovation’ concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
The bill featured longtime Teenage Cancer Trust supporters Eddie Vedder, Robert Plant, Paul Weller, and Kelly Jones of the Stereophonics. The Who played two Teenage Cancer Trust shows earlier in the week, and Pete Townshend was originally on the bill for the ‘Ovation’ event, but he had to travel to New York for the opening of the new Tommy on Broadway.
The show wrapped up with Daltrey singing the 1971 Who classic “Baba O’Riley” alongside Eddie Vedder, Robert Plant, Glen Hansard, Kelly Jones, Simon Townshend, and members of the Who’s touring band. As you can see from this fan-shot video, the guests allowed Daltrey to cover all the vocals himself.

While the sports world was rocked by the shocking scene involving Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin, it has sparked a conversation about emergency response when it comes to amateur athletes and traumatic injuries.
CPR is credited with restarting Hamlin’s heart, even before he made it to a nearby trauma center. The emergency responders at Paycor Stadium in Cincinnati on Monday night showed the importance of having lifesaving equipment and training at your fingertips, at every level of competition.
“The coaching staff, the strength and conditioning staffs, even just basic parents at all different levels, do go through required trainings for certain degrees or advanced life support training or basic life support training,” said Dr. Marie Schaefer, a sports medicine physician at the Cleveland Clinic.
According to the CDC, about 350,000 cardiac arrests happen outside of hospitals each year, with many patients unable to get help from bystanders before an ambulance arrives.
“If you’ve trained on an AED, never be shy to try it, because remember, that person has already collapsed. Their heart has already stopped. Something needs to be done,” Dr. Schaefer said. “I think it’s really important that members of the community really watch out for each other.”
CPR and AED training are just some of the ways local school districts are working to keep athletes safe. Many schools utilize courses to handle sudden cardiac arrests.
“Our coaches are trained every year on CPR and AED. There are about ten certifications you need to be a coach. So, all the coaches are trained,” said St. Ignatius head football coach Ryan Franzinger. “We have a great medical staff that’s at every practice, every game. We have doctors, we have a whole team of doctors. Coaches are certified in those in those areas. We are ready to respond.”
It’s that type of training that was used last January, when local referee and Mentor native Tim Radley suffered a heart attack on the court during a women’s college basketball game between Baldwin Wallace and John Carroll. Fortunately, quick thinking and an AED brought Radley back to life, illustrating just how important the life-saving measures can be.
“I collapsed — Dr. Bree and Michelle, my two angels, were right there,” Radley said. “They’re just wonderful people here, they really are.”
Sports officials are encouraging everyone to brush up on the technique. It’s important to remember to act fast. Without anyone stepping in, brain damage can start to occur within minutes.
“That’s why I think is so vitally important that we keep training our youth, sport coaches and athletes and parents to be able to identify these situations, because no one ever expects it to happen because it’s rare. But it does happen,” said Dr. Schaefer.
A representative for Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin reportedly offered an update Wednesday on the player’s health as he remained in the University of Cincinnati Medical Center following a medical emergency.
Doctors at the hospital got “promising readings that they had been hoping to see,” ESPN reported, citing Jordon Rooney and the Hamlin family. Rooney reportedly added that it appeared “progress” was made. Hamlin was still in the ICU sedated and considered to be in critical condition.
Rooney also clarified to the outlet that Hamlin needed to be resuscitated only once – at Paycor Stadium. Dorian Glenn, Hamlin’s uncle, told CNN on Tuesday night that Hamlin’s heart needed to be restarted for a second time.
Rooney also cautioned that Hamlin still had a “long way to go in his recovery” but the family was optimistic.
“They are elated right now,” he added to the Associated Press. “Damar is still their first concern. But for them, they always look at how they can turn a somewhat troubling situation into a good one. The bounce back from this, for him and his family is going to be incredible.”
Rooney has said he is Hamlin’s friend and marketing rep. He released a statement on behalf of the family on Tuesday afternoon. It is unclear how close he is in touch with the medical doctors working on the player.
Glenn talked to the NFL Network on Tuesday night and offered more optimism on Hamlin’s condition. He said Hamlin improved to 50% oxygen on a ventilator.
Rian Johnson‘s latest whodunit Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery has made a splash at Netflix, securing the top spot on the streamer’s English-language film charts for the week of December 26 to January 1.
The Benoit Blanc mystery managed 127.25M hours viewed in its first full week since release, in addition to the 82.1M viewing hours it took home in the first two days it was on the platform.
In 10 days, the film has skyrocketed to become Netflix’s third most-watched film within 10 days of release, behind Red Notice (364.02M) and Don’t Look Up (359.79M). Netflix measures its most popular lists based on the first 28 days of viewing. Glass Onion is currently at No. 10, but it still has time to make its way even higher.
Knives Out is also on last week’s film list at No. 3 with 16.76M hours viewed. Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical made its way on to the list at No. 2 with 41.1M hours viewed. Noah Baumbach’s White Noise debuted to 14.75M hours viewed, putting in at No. 4.
Green Day waved goodbye to 2022 by playing a set with their covers side-project The Coverups – watch them cover Nirvana, Ramones and more below.
The side project, made up of Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt, began in 2018 as a covers band. The group also features Green Day touring musician Jason White.
Most recently, they paid tribute to Jerry Lee Lewis during a special gig last October. As part of their gig at Los Angeles’ Moroccan Lounge, the band shared a rendition of ‘Great Balls Of Fire’ as a tribute to Lewis, who passed away the week before aged 87.
On New Year’s Eve, they played Hollywood’s legendary Viper Room, playing a 23-song covers gig across two sets, with versions of tracks by The Cure, David Bowie and more.
See the full setlist from the gig and footage below.
After 18 months of change and uncertainty, you definitely deserve something to look forward to in 2023. While kissing a stranger as the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Eve is going to be off the table for most of us, you can still kick off the new year with a new, meaningful connection. And if you don’t want to leave things to chance, you may be interested to know that there’s actually a tried-and-tested “best” time to get back on dating apps after Christmas, according to research.
If you want to bag yourself a new boo for 2023 then Sunday, Jan. 8 is the date you need to put in your diary to start swiping. The first Sunday of the year has historically been the busiest day of the year for online dating, with Tinder, Inner Circle, Match.com, and Bumble all recording record numbers.
As Tinder’s in-house sociologist Jess Carbino has previously explained, “The end of the year is really a good time of reflection. People have the opportunity to really think about what they’ve done in the past year and what they want to do in the future. And for many single people, finding a partner is something that they really want to establish as a goal for the new year.”
And if you want to go one step further, Inner Circle has even more specific instructions for potential daters. CEO of the app Masha Kodden told Refinery29 that you can maximize your matching potential by logging on between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. “With so many rushing to the apps on Dating Sunday, it’s the best time for daters to break their cycle, and put their best foot forward and meet someone new” rather than settling with “a familiar ex for cuffing season.”
Despite face-to-face social plans being impossible over much of 2020 and 2021, Tinder has reported that lockdown hasn’t stopped people from matching. Far from it. With introductions of features like in-app video dating, video sharing, and extended user verification, people were able to continue dating without too much trouble.
The family of Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin released a statement on Tuesday expressing their “sincere gratitude” for the outpouring of support that followed a terrifying scene in Cincinnati on Monday that has left Hamlin in critical condition.
Hamlin’s family asked for continued prayers and support in their message, while also thanking the more than 150,000 fans that have donated nearly $4 million to his charity toy drive fund.
“On behalf of our family, we want to express our sincere gratitude for the love and support shown to Damar during this challenging time. We are deeply moved by the prayers, kind words, and donations from fans around the country,” the statement read.
“We also want to acknowledge the dedicated first responders and healthcare professionals at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center who have provided exceptional care to Damar. We feel so blessed to be a part of the Buffalo Bills organization and to have their support. We also want to thank Coach Taylor and the Bengals for everything they’ve done.”
The Bills said early Tuesday morning that Hamlin was “currently sedated and listed in critical condition” after collapsing on the field following a tackle on Bengals wideout Tee Higgins. He was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center at around 9:25 p.m. ET after receiving CPR on the field.
“Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest following a hit in our game versus the Bengals. His heartbeat was restored on the field and he was transferred to the UC Medical Center for further testing and treatment,” the Bills’ latest update read.
Hamlin’s family added that they will provide updates on his condition “as soon as we have them.”

Listen as Richard Todd announces our 5th & final hometown hero, Dedra Bennett! She was nominated by her friend, Kacie. Here’s what she had to say…..
“Dedra is a one of a kind individual. She has one of the biggest hearts of anyone I have ever met. She is a woman who deserves recognition but doesn’t go down that path. She does from the good of her heart instead of what she can get from it. She is a front line worker in health-care and has been in the clinical setting for over 20 years and we all know how tough it has been over the last couple of years with COVID. She is a loving, giving, nurturing, intelligent, funny, kind, resilient, dedicated, mother, grandmother, and friend. I’ve had the pleasure of knowing her for 5 years now and I admire her more and more each year. She wouldn’t want this known and you wouldn’t know it by her personality because she is a beam of light and so jovial, but she is also a person in need. The things that she does for others, she needs too. There are hardships that she puts up with too, she works two jobs, and is putting herself through nursing school. She has been through a lot and has overcome a lot and she wants to make sure she sees others through those tough times. She would give you her last dime if she knew it will help you. I say all of that as a prelude to this- she has organized so many functions to help those in need and donates to those functions. Those functions being: helping coworkers in need (with food, clothing, even gas money), getting together a drive for food and toys for our patients and their children in our office to give during the holidays, she has even purchased and picked up and taken medication to patients. She is known by many people and they all love her. If she isn’t there at the office, patients will specifically ask “where is Dedra?”. She provides support physically and emotionally. The world is a better place because of her. She has a beautiful soul, a kind and generous heart, a radiant spirit. It would just be nice if she could have one night of something good for her.”
Listen as Richard Todd announces today’s Hometown Hero, Maddy Mordenti. She was nominated as a hometown hero by her boyfriend. Zach!! Here’s what he had to say.
“I would love to nominate my girlfriend of 8 years, Maddy Mordenti. She is the Marketing Director for Chick-fil-A North Mount Pleasant, and does such amazing things to impact our community. She has hosted Shop with a Cop- where kids in need can enjoy a free CFA meal and then head over to Walmart to shop for Christmas gifts. She helps host Cops on the Coop where she helped set a stage to collect $54,000 for Special Olympics. She nominated and advocated SO hard for E.C.C.O to win the Chick-fil-A True Inspiration Award of $175,000 to use to help poverty in the Mount Pleasant community. She partnered with the Blood Connections last year- and through her marketing efforts- her Chick-fil-A is now the largest blood drive site in the Coastal Carolina. There was a Special Needs boy, Owen, who dressed as a CFA worker for Career Day at his school. She immediately contacted the family to see if she could host him in the store as a “honorary team member”. He got a full tour of the restaurant, his own name tag and goody bag, got to make his own ice cream- and distribute items for a giveaway she was hosting that day for St. Patricks Day. The smile on his face throughout the day was all the ‘thanks’ she ever needed. Yesterday she found out there was a child going through his last round of chemo in the Mount Pleasant community- and she immediately tracked the family down so that she could write an encouraging note and send along some coupons for free meals to send to him. She regularly honors teachers, students, nurses, sports teams, foster care children at Windwood Farm, busy parents- and even pets through donations/giveaways that come out of her budget She is selfless, generous, kind and endearing. She only wants to spread positivity and care to all she comes in contact with. She never expects or wants recognition- and I know the impact she’s making is sometimes overlooked. I would love for her to have a relaxing stay-cation weekend and for her to know how truly proud I am of all she does for Charleston/Mount Pleasant.”
Listen as Richard Todd announces today’s Hometown Hero, Katelin Love! She was nominated as a hometown hero by her husband, Bennett! Here’s what he had to say.
“Kate is a 1st Grade Teacher at Sullivan’s Island Elementary School. She shows up each day (currently 4 months pregnant) for her kids with an enthusiasm I will never be able to match. Teaching during a pandemic has created new stress and hurdles for teachers, especially those in early childhood. Kate creates engaging lessons for the children that get them moving and interacting with each other despite the covid restrictions and truly loves each one as her own.”
Listen as Richard Todd announces today’s Hometown Hero, Troy Bladholm! He was nominated as a hometown hero by his wife, Sarah! Here’s what she had to say.
“My husband has been in the Air Force for 11 years and is currently at Joint Base Charleston. We was activated as a reservist in August and had 2 days notice before he was sent to rescue the Afghan refugee’s as a flying crew chief on our local c-17s. He left his wife and to young boys for 5 weeks. He is our hero, we also love The beach club along with harborside as our staycation spot.”
The Cal Ripken of Radio outworks the competition during a whirlwind of weekend activities! Friday, it’s Hockey Night with the Stingrays at the North Charleston Coliseum. Then it’s a short trip over to Riverfront Park for the Charleston Wine & Food Festival with Lake Street Dive. Saturday begins with a special Acoustic Rock Performance at Half Moon Outfitters with the 502’s, followed by Saturday Shenanigans with attorney David Aylor, the Aylor Army, & News Team 2’s Hanna “The Power Chord” Powers. The antics continue Saturday night at CHSWF with St. Paul & the Broken Bones. And Sunday Funday kicks off with Charleston’s most acclaimed music show The Critic’s Choice, & one final day of fun at the Charleston Wine & Food Festival!!!

Listen as Richard Todd announces our 1st Hometown Hero, Breanna Burnett! She was nominated as a hometown hero by her husband, Andy! Here’s what he had to say.
“My wife is truly my hero! She is not a first responder or nurse but a stay at home mom/teacher to our 9 year old son with autism. Everyday I am amazed with what she continues to do with our son, and also sharing ideas and suggestions online from her experiences with other people in similar situations. I am so very proud of her, not only for being an amazing mom but and amazing teacher as well!”
