Have you ever looked in the mirror and felt like you didn’t know the person staring back at you? Well here at the Nice 2 Meet U podcast, we are all about inspiring one another to BECOME the BEST VERSION of ourselves by being more self-aware and self-reflective. We celebrate and amplify black voices. You will also hear a little bit of this and that in between.

In this episode, I am discussing the lessons I have learned over the past few weeks and months. Some of the things I speak about are relinquishing control to God, learning how not to share my dreams with everyone, and having patience.

In season 4, episode 8, I am speaking about how to get out of our own way. I am reading the book, "Get Out of Your Own Way" by Mark Goulston, M.D and Philip Goldberg and in this book they talk about helping us to overcome self-defeating behaviors. Sometimes we are so guarded that we put up walls that will not allow others to get in. I am encouraging us to seek out help to tear down those walls so that we do not end up alone.

In season 4, episode 7, I encourage us to build our trust muscle. We will go through things in life that test that muscle or that can stunt that muscle. Sometimes it is abandonment issues and people who were not there for us in the past, so we have built up a wall of protection to avoid getting hurt again. In this episode, I talk about trusting God and also using discernment to let down our guards to trust those people who have good intentions towards us. We are deserving of love and good relationships.

In season 4, episode 5, I am encouraging us to not live our lives scared. Being comfortable is comfortable, however, I feel that we really start to grow once we allow ourselves to step outside of our comfort zone. Like the footprint poem goes, when we do not see our footprints in the sand, that is when God is carrying us.

In season 4, episode 4, I am speaking about stagnation and what to do about it. According to Arlene Ambrose, "stagnation happens when you don't have anything in life that motivates you enough to take sustained steps towards it." The feeling of stagnation is something I feel a lot of us go through, so I hope that I have said something to encourage us to continue to press towards our goals. In season 4, episode 3, I am sharing my final reflections on 2021. We are going into a new year, but I want us to know that just because the calendar year changes, it doesn't mean that things will automatically shift for us unless we make a conscious effort to shift our mindset. I am thankful to God for how he has blessed me in 2021, and I am looking forward to the next 365 days. Happy New Year!

In season 4, episode 2, I am speaking about projections. Sometimes we project things on others because we would like to see a certain quality in ourselves. For example, the article that I reference, in the episode, talks about a woman named Jasmine: who would like to be more vocally expressive being upset with her friend who speaks her mind. I feel like we all can relate to seeing something in others that we would like to see in ourselves. So in this episode, we will learn how to project in a positive manner instead of in a negative one.
I want to wish everyone a happy holiday season. Merry Christmas, and have a happy new year!

In season 3, episode 20, I am encouraging us to just be! To not try and figure it out, to not try to plan it out. I want to encourage us to sit with ourselves and to be in tune with what is going on in our bodies. I want us to feel all the sensations and cravings that are coming up for us. Doing these things will allow us to be fully present with who we are and what we need. In western culture, we are convinced that we need to be on all the time, but sometimes we do not feel like it and this is okay!

In season 3, episode 19, I am speaking about how we go through transitions in life. Making a transition can be positive such as changing careers, having a baby, getting married, or buying a new house. Making a transition can also be negative such as death, an accident, or getting fired from a job. I discuss the stages of making a transition and provide ways to cope with it. I also go over a few quotes from my boy TD Jakes' message, The Courage to Change Course, which helped to inspire this topic.

In season 3, episode 17, I am breaking down the topics of fate and destiny. Fate is something that unavoidably befalls a person. Destiny is something that is to happen or has happened to a particular person or thing. Fate tends to be the things that are out of our control, while destiny can be altered by our life choices. These words are typically used interchangeably in conversation so listen in as I attempt to decipher the differences.

In season 3, episode 15, I am speaking about why faith is important. Faith gives us the strength to withstand in hopes that something better is around the corner. Having faith is needed to propel us to become the best version of ourselves and to get us to the place we want to be. There will be days we may feel like the not-so-good version of ourselves or the worst version of ourselves, so we need faith to live with the expectation that it won't always be like this.

In season 3, episode 14, I am speaking about the TV show David Makes Man. David Makes Man is executively produced by Oprah and Michael B Jordan. It was created by the Academy Award-winning screenwriter Tarell Alvin McCraney, who is known for the movie Moonlight. The show is a coming-of-age story that centers on a teenage prodigy named David who lives in the Projects, Homestead Village, in South Florida but attends a magnet school for academically gifted students. David is struggling with living in two words. He must be tough to make it on the streets of his neighborhood, and he must be his best in school to make it out of poverty. I am sharing this story to show that not everyone has it easy when they are on the journey to becoming the best version of themselves.

In honor of Valentine's Day being on Sunday, February 14th, I decided to dedicate an episode to the topic of love. In this episode, I breakdown the Merriam-Webster dictionary definition of love, the Bible's definition of love, and my definition of love. I also share the results of Helen Fisher's personality quiz from the theanatomyoflove.com. It is the test to figure the degree to which we express four broad styles of thinking and behaving, each associated with one of four basic brain systems: the dopamine, serotonin, testosterone, and estrogen systems. Also, this week's black history moment is dedicated to the late and great Dred Scott. In season 2, episode 9, I speak about trusting your intuition, that inner voice that tells you something is off about a person, situation, or decision you are about to make. I am learning more and more to be my best advocate and to trust the things that I need and want. I wanted to share my journey and the things I have learned that have taught me to trust my intuition, that sixth sense that tells me I may need to look at what I am deciding to do a bit more. Maybe I need to pray more, meditate more, quiet my spirit, and listen to God more. Greatness is seeking after you, but will you trust yourself enough to accept it and believe you are worthy of the best! I found quite a bit of my information from the site listed below. In season 1, episode 13 I wanted to devote an entire episode to talk about new beginnings. Sometimes it is scary to take a leap of faith and to do something we have never done. It is much easier to keep things like they are because there is no uncertainty. Uncertainty can be scary, believe you me I know. But, in this episode, I speak about the beauty of uncertainty and stepping out on faith to walk into your purpose. Listen in as I promise you that will find the motivation to also take a leap of faith. I had the pleasure of being a guest on the Leadership Podcast with David Daniel. David is a citizen of Nigeria and in his podcast, he is encouraging leaders around the world to become better, serve better, love better, and lead better. Listen in on our conversation as we speak about goal setting. I apologize for the intermittent background noise, I tried to remove it in the editing process but wasn’t successful. Despite the quality challenges from time to time, I promise you that you will leave the conversation feeling inspired and motivated to start setting your own goals. This is Season 1, Episode 10. In this episode, I speak about self-acceptance and telling yourself you are enough, and that you matter. Sometimes, if we don't catch ourselves, we start living for the opinion and validation of others. Today, I encourage us to take that power back! We are enough and we matter! You are so important and the world needs your gift and this episode I am encouraging you to start shining your light because the world needs it. In this episode, I hit on the heavy topic of forgiveness. I am specifically focusing on forgiving our parents or guardian for what they did or did not do in raising us. Forgiveness is for us more than the next person because it releases us from the hurt and we can move toward becoming the best version of ourselves. Sometimes we may not even know we have allowed unforgiveness or bitterness to take up residence in our heart, so I wanted to discuss this topic so that we can begin to look within to see if this is something that has caused us to be in a rut. I encourage us to set aside some times with our parent or guardian and have those tough conversations so that we can get the answers that we need to find a place of healing and wholeness. If you all have any questions or would like to talk about anything that I have discussed, please feel free to send me a DM on the podcast Instagram page @nice2meetupodcast. I would love to hear from you all. Also, please let me know if you would like to be a guest on the show. Lastly, please find the link below to the book "Running On Empty Overcome Your Childhood Emotional Neglect" by Dr. Jonice Webb, Ph.D. I spoke about this book, during the episode, and how it helped me to get over some of the emotional wounds of my childhood. I purchased the book on Amazon for $14.28. https://www.amazon.com/Running-Empty-Overcome-Childhood-Emotional/dp/161448242X

How many of you all have heard about the Mamba Mentality? In season 1, episode 8 I am speaking about the late great Kobe Bryant and his quest to be the best. I talk about why he gave himself the nickname the "Black Mamba" and how he lived by the Mamba Mentality. Kobe defined the Mamba Mentality, as the constant quest to be better today than you were yesterday. He was relentless in wanting to be the best so he exemplified that in every game that he played. He didn't only keep his greatness to himself but he also wanted to help his teammates be the best version of themselves. The Mamba Mentality is a good process to follow in helping us to become the best version of ourselves. So please listen in and enjoy! Nice 2 Meet U. Let's get it, let's go! I want to hear how everyone's journey is going thus far, so feel free to reach out and send me a DM on the Nice 2 Meet U podcast Instagram page @nice2meetupodcast. Also, please send me a message if you are wanting to be a guest and would like to share your journey with the listeners.

Having a growth mindset is when you believe your gifts and talents can be developed through hard work, strategies, planning, and input from others. How do you know you have grown? What are the signs you are looking for to reflect a growth mindset? In season 1, episode 7, I speak about the signs I look for in my life to show I have grown. I haven't grown just because I say I have grown, but I require proof! The proof I am looking for is if I am responding to a situation, in the same manner, I use to or has my response changed. There is an old song by Rose Royce that goes, "Love Don't Live Here Anymore." When someone, that knew you when comes knocking at your door looking to get you to respond like the old you would, are you responding as they expected or are you able to say to them, "Love Don't Live Here Anymore?" I challenge you this week to make out a list of the ways you respond to certain situations and how you would like to respond. As these situations come full circle, take note if you are responding as the "old you" would, or are you responding as the person you want to be with the behavior you want to display? Don't forget to check out the Instagram page for the "Nice 2 Meet U" podcast @nice2meetupodcast. I would like to hear how your growth lists are going and what ideas you have come up with to change the way you respond to meet your desired behavior. Also, if you want to share any thoughts or questions about anything I have said in previous episodes. In the meantime keep being great, keep being amazing, and keep being beautiful until next time. Lastly, keep Jeremiah 29:11 on your heart, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Nice 2 Meet U, let's go!

I decided to devote an entire episode to allow listeners to enter my world and find out a little bit more about who I am. I feel that allowing you all to know a little bit about me, will allow you all to connect and know that I am a real person, I hurt as you hurt, I cry as you cry, I laugh as you laugh. I created this podcast to be as raw and authentic as possible and being vulnerable will help me build real relationships with my listeners. So, sit back and listen on how Lynette became Lynette because at one point in time she didn't know who she was. I hope and pray that the things I have gone through will encourage you to become more of yourself. Also, feel free to check out my YouTube channel "Lynette Farmer - Sowing Seeds of Love" so that you can have a background on how all of this began. I have also created an Instagram page for the podcast and it can be found by searching @nice2meetupodcast. Please feel free to follow me there as I look forward to engaging with you through posts, stories, and direct messages. Continue to be great, amazing, beautiful, and handsome until we chat again. Let's go!

The way we think, feel, and behave can sometimes cause stress, anxiety, and overwhelming emotions. In this episode I will be discussing the cognitive behavioral tools that I learned in therapy and from watching the “Cognitive Behavioral Tools” video by Dr. LuAnn Helms on YouTube. She is a psychologist of the Utah State University’s Counseling and Psychological Services. Practicing these tools will help us make better sound decisions and also help us to see things from the other person’s perspective. We sometimes have to change our thought pattern if we are going to become the best version of ourselves. I hope that after watching this video you can feel yourself moving in the right direction. I can feel us getting stronger and wiser. So, let’s continue on our journey to becoming more ourselves. Let’s go!

Sometimes you have to look back to move forward. As a child our brains are vulnerable and if we don’t deal with the trauma from our past, it can hinder us from being the best version of ourselves. In this episode we will look at developing cognitive behavioral skills to help us process our thoughts so we do not have emotional responses to situations that rub us the wrong way. Developing cognitive skills will help us make better decisions which will propel us into our destiny. We will discuss the topics of fear of abandonment and codependency. I hope and pray after you listen to this episode, you are inspired to continue working on being the best version of yourself. Let’s go!

This first episode is just to give you a little snippet of how my podcast will go. I talk about my background in how all of this really began. It’s crazy how someone asking you to do one thing leads to another. God, and/or the universe, knows how to get us exactly where we need to be, when we need to be there! So, come on as we go on this journey together. Let’s go!
