How wonderful is giving birth to a new life!?

Stories about how mothers give birth aren’t unheard of. Perhaps, you yourself know the story of your birth or have already experienced giving birth. Birth is painful, and very much uncomfortable for anyone. Yet at the same time it holds such a powerful effect in revealing how adaptable the female reproductive system is and how strong a woman can become as she fights to birth that life.

Other women give birth to their kids with a no-brainer labor, and one helpless push, but a labor for two days is definitely no joke. Listen to Lola Light as she shares her extraordinary 42 hours of labor, which includes a mix of contractions, natural inducing methods, uncomfortable rides, epidural shots, new speechless experiences, and take away some of the lessons she learned with it.

If you are a mother and you also had long hours of pain, then congratulations for making it! However, if you are a preparing mother and you’re checking out preparation tips, then tune in because whether you are to undergo the same labor hours or shorter, there will be no harm getting materially prepared. Meanwhile, if you are to assist someone who is giving birth, know that your efforts in helping the mother prepare are heartily appreciated.

Here are some advices from this episode:

  • If the baby is not ready to come out, expect to undergo different inducing methods: Stretch and sweep, acupuncture, and massage.
  • No birthing classes, books, or self-help videos for birth can “mentally” prepare any mother to give birth.
  • Prepare for a horrible car ride.
  • Have a doula to assist you or any support person, literally everywhere, every time even after you give birth.
  • Have a dry run of how you’re going to get to your car and all the way to the hospital.
  • Have a backup route.
  • Have a backup hospital.
  • Pack solid food for energy for when you’ve already given birth.
  • Pack toiletries and cleaning materials.
  • Pack Tylenol and Gravol and bring it with you anywhere.
  • Just be honest about how you feel, and especially if you don’t understand what the doctor is saying.
  • Have a mirror to see your child’s birth.
  • Ring the bell for every time you need to breastfeed.
  • Every step from the labor to lactation is very important.
