In this episode of Pack Unleashed, the founders of Pack Matt, John and Dom delve into the world of perfection OR, rather, how striving for perfection can ultimately hold you back.
From day dot weโre programmed to strive for perfection in everything we do.
But is perfection something we can really attain?
And how does perfection affect the way we think about our work and the products we create?
AND...what on earth does all this have to do with Johnโs Nan and Duke Nukem 3Dโฆ
Youโre going to have to listen to find out!

Settling into Season 2 of our podcast, we have the great Erika Hall joining us for an awesome episode, where we talk about the importance of research and how you can benefit from including it in your product business.
Weโll also be jumping into the Pack Delorean to take a leap back in time, to discuss how Erika got started in the design industry and what first got her interested in the subject of research.
Erika is Co-founder and Director of Strategy at Mule, a consultancy which focuses on helping organisations make better, more evidence-based decisions.
She is also a prolific writer and the author of Just Enough Research, now in its second edition, and Conversational Design, both from A Book Apart.
She writes about topics that challenge the conventional wisdom of the field, which encourage designers to think more deeply about the implications of their work.

For our sixth episode, we explore the case for when itโs time to stop thinking around your product ideas and time to put things into action. Design doing!
A lot of the time it can be easy to snuggle up in the 'comfort blanket' of endless research without committing to making anything other than documents full of theory.
We argue the point, that while design thinking is definitely valid, design doing is the way forward. Get out there earlier and test your ideas.
We discuss the Design Sprint, the ultimate hybrid of thinking and doing, and how Matt learnt the importance of getting practical while baking sourdough during lockdown.
You do not want to miss the knowledge bombs within.

For our fourth episode, we have an extra special guest in the form of Matt 'Mills' Miller, co-founder of global product studio Ustwo and our Pack Matt's old boss!
Matt and Mills talk about the often taboo subject of giving yourself 'permission to fail'.
Expect a gritty account from the front line of running an agency, the ups the downs and everything in-between.
โโโโโโโโโ
Matt โMillsโ Miller founded digital product design studio ustwo with John Sinclair in 2004.
In the 16 years since, ustwo expanded to include an independent games studio and ustwo adventure: a startup fund and incubator that supports early-stage startups and digital companies. The companyโs driving ethos is to create meaningful products and services. Alongside designing products for the likes of Sky and Facebook, it developed Google DeepMindโs Streams app, which can be used to remotely monitor patients from hospitals, and created the phenomenally successful mobile and tablet game Monument Valley.
Mills stepped away from his operational duties at ustwo to head up adventure โ which provides support, investment and a workspace for startups at its London studio โ in 2017.

For our third episode, we dial things up to 88mph and land smack back in 1985, for a retrospective look at how things used to be, why the decade means so much to us and what lessons we can learn from then, to apply to product design now.
Expect big hair, even bigger rose-tinted memories of Matt's 186 PC gaming, Doms 3 hours in a blockbuster video store and a look into why John thinks Rocky 4 is without a doubt the quintessential 80s blockbuster that created the art of the Montage.
Where we're going, we don't need roads!

For our second episode, we have an extra special guest in the form of John Zeratsky, co-author of Sprint (the bible on Design Sprints) and Make Time.
Our John speaks to JZ about how to embrace the new normal we're living in and make the best use of our time while everything is different, using this time to reprogram our habits and make a better version of ourselves for the future.

For our first episode we look back at our video series โThe New Normalโ, a conversation led look into how things have changed for a variety of people from different walks of life and professional backgrounds during lockdown, and what the future might look like once weโre out the other side
We discuss the insights weโve learnt from those conversations, how John bagged a celebrity author of Sprint and Make Time (John Zeratsky!) for a chat, and why Dom thinks everyone should throw in the towel and fire up Tiger King on Netflix.
