It is no help to your children to leave them money, but if you leave them education, if you leave them Christian and noble character, if you leave them a wide circle of friends, if you leave them an honorable name, it is far better than that they should have money. When you were born in the ’20s and raised in the early ’30s, you know what you learned? You learned you didn’t have anything but people. My father said, “Decision making is a fact of life, just like breathing. And then I realized that all my life I had judged God by the shenanigans and inconsistency of people. I’ve always known you can’t judge somebody by somebody else, but I didn’t apply that standard to God. Well, on that day, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, thank God, by His grace, I realized the Bible was true for me. I didn’t realize it was true for you, I didn’t realize it was true for my wife or kids, that’s their need, that’s their problem; for me I realized the Bible was true.
