A choir themed mix with a dash of ambient. Always loved a dark choir. Ever since I heard Daevid Allen's Euterpe gratitude piece, 2001 Space odyssey and snippets of the Orb. A personal indulgence this one but still classes as ambient in my humble.
Ambient musician Delicate Noise (aka Mark Andrushko) returns with his latest masterpiece of cinematic sound in the form of hence EP. It follows on from five previous albums and yet again this four-track EP is saturated in mystery, spaciousness and imagination, which the artist himself describes as “best enjoyed with headphones, listening to it at night, with a glass of cabernet…”
We have been granted permission to showcase his works in this mix.
Soon as we heard 15 seconds of the first track we knew he would be a great fit to our mixes.

I think there has been a productive spurt in the last few months when it comes to music production in this genre, and it is great to see.

Little about the artists ....
This is the first collaborative release of Alpha Mound and Tidsrymd, and the topic of this particular sonic meditation is the altered state of dreams. Combining our resources we have made two pieces combining synths, electric piano and processed guitars, somewhere in the realm between ambient, doom-jazz, post rock or ethereal, minimal shoegaze. It's a slow building wall of sound, meditative but forceful, emerging in spacey, atmospheric, rolling melodies.
The EP is accompanied by a music video created by Alpha Mound (a.k.a. Joakim Westlund). The video takes the viewer on a colourful journey through space, using original video material from the ESA/Hubble-telescope, manipulated, combined and overlayed with still images by Joel Filipe, Gaetan Othenin Girard, Anfal Shamsudeen & Casey Horner (which are further manipulated and animated).
About the artists
Alpha Mound is the recording project of Joakim Westlund, who, since 2012, has released many albums, EPs and collaborations. His style is focused in the ambient genre and sometimes mixed into more deep going indie-electronica and kraut sounds. The sound design is always a main feature where you can find complex melodies alongside slow drones and spare rhythms.
Tidsrymd is the moniker of recording artist Johan Ohlsson. So far two digital EP:s have been released on Stålverk Records dabbling in neo-kraut, ambient and minimalism. Johan is also a member och the lo-fi electronic duo A Farrago.
