Alston, deals with NCAA student athletes receiving the same benefits that would extend to non-student athletes on campus and how the Supreme Court laid the groundwork for Student Athletes to make money off their respective NIL. Student athletes, in football and men's and women's basketball, are now immediately eligible if the student athlete wishes to transfer. Also, as of June 1, 2021, the NCAA is lifting the recruiting dead period, which allows coaches to start having official and unofficial visits.
After an investigation by the NCAA into the bribery scandal the FBI initially investigated, the NCAA infractions committee placed USC basketball on two years probation and imposed a 3-year show cause order for the assistant coach. Was this penalty too light or just right?

In this episode, we interview Conor McCullough, a former NCAA champion in the hammer throw, and an olympian in the 2016 Rio Olympics. We talk to him about his journey between his time at Princeton to USC, to winning the national championship, to understanding why hammer throwers always grunt when they throw! In the case between the former West Virginia football players versus the NCAA, the players have alleged that the NCAA cannot limit the players from making money off their name, image and likeness. In the second case, the NCAA has moved to dismiss the HBCU class action lawsuit alleging discriminatory practices against by the NCAA against traditionally HBCUs. The NCAA alleges that not only do they provide grants - last year $19mil - to help traditionally HBCUs, but the NCAA also allows flexibility in enforcing the rules and routinely grant waivers.
