Thanks so much for tuning into the show – we've got a lot more in store, but all distilled into the one true podcast feed... Byteside.
A big new year for Hearthstone. Unquestionably biggest yet. So The Scrapyard gets some Hearthstone specialists together to talk shop. Demon Hunters. Outland. Priest reworks. Ranked ladder changes. New / returning player experiences. And lots more! Come share our excitement at what's coming next for Blizzard's fantabulous digital card game.
Seamus is joined by Stirling Coates (@stirlingcoates) and Kosta Andreadis (@toadovsky).
We talk about why we're not angry, we're disappointed, when it comes to Warcraft 3: Reforged – but how the issues with the remake don't mean it's a terrible game. And how we hope there's light somewhere at the end of the tunnel. And speaking of tunnels, how about that coronavirus? It comes up not once, not twice, but in THREE different aspects of Blizzard news this week.
Plus somehow we talk way too much about the movie Outbreak. Kosta seems to really, really love it.

This week we've got Seamus, Zhiana and Kosta together to dig into some of the juicy details delivered by the Diablo team in the February quarterly update. So many details!
While Diablo is on our mind we also take a look at Season 20 for Diablo 3 and some of its cool new features, and we ask that age old question - what is the actual deal with Diablo Immortal at this stage?
Finally, a spoileriffic look at the conclusion to the Year of the Dragon in Hearthstone and a look at the WoW Classic Phase 5 timing news and what that might mean for running out of content sooner than we thought?

Seamus and Zhiana catch up after a long break to find they've been two sides of the WoW coin – getting a lot done in Retail and Classic. So this return episode goes deep on recent WoW efforts, from the grind to 60 and raiding in Classic, to cleaning up Allied Races and mount hunting in Retail. With diversions galore along the way, of course!

Dave Jansen stops by to dive deep on 8.2 and the state of the raiding scene just as Mythic Eternal Palace gets set to drop. With a fresh Race To World First kicking off, we look at the controversy around Method and Red Bull falling out, wanting to see more guilds being involved, and what we hope the right way to run this all might be.
Plus we enter a big old rabbit hole around the lore of the expansion and where we think, and where we hope, things will take us as we head toward the next expansion.

A fun chat with Zhiana, a great cosplayer and part of the Geek Bomb brigade, about all the latest developments in World of Warcraft. What have we been up to? What are we hoping for in 8.2 and where the story will go next? Why did Seamus make a Dark Iron Monk? All this and plenty more random Warcraftery so tune in and catch up.

Liv Breeden is part of the initial design team, so she works on concepts and ideas from their earliest stage and prototyping, while Stephen Chang is in Final Design, so he’s all about perfecting ideas, making sure they’re well balanced, and bringing the final package together.
From concept to finished cards, with a particular deep dive into the evolution of Twinspell, we explore some of the latest arrivals in the newest set, Rise of Shadows, as well as the general art of creating cards for the game. Wait ’til you hear how excellent their concepting tools are! That should be a game all its own…
This week I popped into the IGN studio to get face to face with Cam Shea and geek out about all the latest news around Hearthstone. We dive into the Year of the Dragon, the Specialist esports format, the Rise of Shadows announcement and the idea of a whole story threading through the year ahead. Plus how important this year's rotation is as well as those early Hall of Fame moves.

Over at IEM I caught up with two of the Aussie casters covering all the action from the Starcraft stage. Usually we only ever get one of these great Australians calling on the world stage at a time, so it was special to be able to catch both Jared 'PiG' Krenzel and Leigh 'Maynarde' Mandalov behind the scenes on the other side of the world.
The guys were great to squeeze me in between Starcraft quarter-final calls, so we were catching up backstage from the great Spodek Arena. And that's why there's a lot of noise in the background.
We explore the state of Starcraft esports, being Aussies behind the casting desk and sharing the stage with a very international line up of talent, and plenty more about what's on their minds.

We’re back for 2019! A delay after a fractured collarbone, but we’re here once again, starting off with a quick update to look at the big picture of 2019. Blizzard had a tough end to last year and there’s no question that this year will be very important - what can they come up with to get their mojo back?

With Rastakhan's Rumble going live on December 4 we're lucky to have Hearthstone Creative Director Ben Thompson in town and I got to sit down with him to talk about the game. From arriving at Team 5 as the first artist on the team with the job of making a prototype digital card game look good, through his hopes for how fans react to any new expansion and how he feels about a surge in competition out there, we get into some interesting turf on his philosophy on doing Hearthstone the right way. Plus a concluding as I make him pick favourites from Hearthstone history, it was a really fun chat and I think you're going to really enjoy what Ben has to share.
