“What if God is not waiting at the end of our deconstruction with a test, but with a lantern?”

In this honest and hopeful message, Dan Minor speaks directly to the complicated journey of faith deconstruction, church hurt, and what it means to find something worth keeping in the ruins.

Rather than framing deconstruction as destruction or abandonment, Dan invites us to consider a deeper possibility: redemption. Through the stories of Adam and Eve, Jacob, and Jesus cleansing the temple, this message explores how our theology, spirituality, and sacred community can be reimagined through a healthier lens.

Not everything from our past needs to be rebuilt. Not everything needs to be thrown away. Some things need to be redeemed.

Listen in for a message about shame, pursuit, spiritual searching, religious harm, and the God who meets us in the ruins with light.

“Humility is not thinking less of yourself. It is moving into what the Spirit is trying to do right now.”

In this bold and deeply moving message, Rev. Dr. Erin Edwards brings humor, honesty, and holy fire to a conversation about Pride, humility, justice, and what it really means to follow Jesus.

Preaching during Pride Month, Rev. Dr. Edwards challenges the idea that humility means shrinking, hiding, or becoming less than who God created us to be. Instead, she calls us into a deeper kind of courage: knowing we are beloved, walking humbly with God, serving without needing recognition, and becoming a church where healing, restoration, and transformation are actually possible.

With stories from her own life, her family, and Jesus washing the feet of his disciples, this message asks a powerful question: What could happen if we were proud of who we are, but humble enough to let God keep changing us?

Listen in for a message about belovedness, service, Pride Month, and the kind of humility that can change a church, a community, and a life.

What happens when religion stops seeing people as people and starts using them as ammunition?

In this sermon, Pastor Dan uses the story of the woman caught in adultery to confront one of the cruelest habits of modern Christianity: turning vulnerable people into talking points, culture-war targets, and proof texts for someone else’s agenda.

But Jesus refuses to play that game.

When the religious crowd drags a woman into the center to make a point, Jesus sees what they refuse to see: a human being. Not a prop. Not a scandal. Not a sermon illustration. Not ammunition.

This message is a call back to the heart of Jesus, a Jesus who stands between the accused and the accusers, between the vulnerable and the stones, between the person being used and the people using them.

Because if people cannot find mercy, grace, and hope in our communities, whatever else we are defending, we are not defending it in the way of Jesus.

What if Jesus was bad at starting a religion because he was never trying to build a machine?

In this sermon, Pastor Dan Minor reminds us that Jesus did not come with a five-year plan, a brand strategy, a headquarters, or a hustle-culture blueprint. He came with twelve friends. He came with dinners, stories, weddings, walks, children, bread, wine, and the unhurried work of connection.

At Harvest Sarasota, we are not trying to build a church that runs people over in the name of results. We are trying to follow the way of Jesus, where belonging comes before mission, connection comes before service, and people matter more than efficiency.

Because things can grow and still be unhealthy. Things can work and still wound people. Things can look impressive and still have nothing to do with Christ.

The kingdom of God is not a machine. It is a table. It is a community. It is the slow, sacred work of being with God and with one another.

In this Pentecost Sunday sermon, Pastor Stan Mitchell invites us into one of the most tender and disruptive moments in the resurrection story: Jesus telling Mary Magdalene, “Don’t hold on to me.”

For anyone who has ever lost the Jesus they once knew, this message offers a startling word of hope. Maybe losing an old understanding of Christ is not the failure of faith. Maybe it is faith growing up. Maybe Jesus is always lovingly uncurling our fingers from the version of him we have clung to, not because he is leaving us, but because Spirit is leading us into a larger, freer, more inclusive revelation of who Christ is.

Pentecost reminds us that Jesus does not ask to be preserved in the past. He keeps returning in new ways, expanding our consciousness, disrupting our certainty, and inviting us to stop clinging so tightly to what we have known, so we can receive what love is revealing next.

What if the story of the 99 and the one isn’t just about a lost sheep coming home, but about whether the 99 have become the kind of community anyone would want to return to?

In this sermon, Pastor Dan Minor reimagines repentance not as shame, humiliation, or moral failure, but as metanoia, a change of mind, a reorientation toward belonging, joy, and love. This message challenges the church to ask harder questions: Who has been pushed to the margins? Who left because they felt unsafe? And what would it look like for the 99 to repent too?

In this Mother’s Day sermon, Pastor Dan Minor continues the conversation around the 99 and the one, asking what love looks like when it refuses to stay comfortable. With humor, honesty, and a deeply pastoral challenge, this message reframes community as something active: noticing who is missing, moving toward pain, refusing disconnection, and becoming the kind of people who go with Jesus to the margins.

Because when Jesus goes searching, love does not just make room. Love makes joy.

What if the version of Jesus we’ve been following…
is the version that costs us the least?

What if we’ve gotten so comfortable, so certain, so in control…
that we literally can’t see the parts of Jesus that challenge us anymore?

In this message, Dan Minor takes aim at a hard truth:
the Church didn’t lose the Bible—
we lost the lens to read it.

From the Beatitudes to the rich young ruler, from refugee camps to American Christianity, this sermon pulls no punches:

  • Why “blessed are the poor” doesn’t work from the top
  • How certainty can replace truth and control can replace faith
  • Why the biggest barrier to following Jesus might be… what you’re not willing to lose
  • And the one question Jesus keeps asking that we keep avoiding:
Who is this not working for?

This isn’t safe.
It’s not polished.
And it’s definitely not comfortable.

But it might be the clearest invitation you’ve heard in a long time
to actually follow Jesus.

In this message from Harvest Sarasota, we rethink one of the most familiar phrases of Jesus: “Follow me.”

What if it was never meant as command and control? What if it was never about pressure, coercion, or falling in line? What if “follow me” was always an invitation into close companionship?

In this episode, we explore Luke 9:23 through a fresh lens and consider how Jesus invited people not into fear, but into relationship. Along the way, we confront the ways faith has too often been used to burden people, control people, and pressure people, and we reclaim a more faithful vision of the gospel: one rooted in presence, dignity, belonging, and love.

This is a conversation about carrying heaven with us. About what it means to embody good news. About why witness is less about making a case and more about making space.

If you’ve ever felt burned by religious pressure, exhausted by performative faith, or curious about a more compassionate and Christlike way, this message is for you.

What if doubt isn’t the problem… but pretending is?

We’ve turned “Doubting Thomas” into a warning. Don’t question. Don’t wrestle. Just believe. But what if Thomas wasn’t weak in faith—what if he was the only one being honest?

In this message, we dismantle one of the most misunderstood stories in Scripture and expose a deeper truth:
faith that can’t handle questions isn’t real faith.

Thomas refused to build his life on someone else’s experience. And Jesus didn’t shame him for it—He met him in it.

This episode explores:

  • Why doubt isn’t disbelief—it’s the beginning of real faith
  • How church culture rewards silence but punishes honesty
  • The danger of living off borrowed belief
  • Why your questions might actually lead you closer to God

Here’s the tension:
We’ve normalized quiet doubt… and condemned the people who say it out loud.

But the one we labeled “the doubter” ends up seeing Jesus more clearly than anyone else.

If you’ve ever felt like you had to fake it to belong, this one’s for you.

You don’t need less doubt.
You need a real encounter.

Let’s be honest—“holiness” has been weaponized.

For years, it’s been used to divide, exclude, and label people as “clean” or “unclean.” But what if we’ve been getting it wrong the whole time?

In this bold message, we flip the script.

Jesus didn’t define holiness by who you avoid—He defined it by how you love. And that changes everything.

Walking through Mark 7 and Acts 10, we confront a hard truth: holiness isn’t about distance from “those people.” It’s about refusing to become the kind of person who harms others.

This episode dives into:

  • Why “unclean” was never about categories of people
  • How Scripture has been misused to justify harm
  • What holiness actually looks like in real life (hint: it’s not behavior control)
  • Why love—not fear, not rules—is the clearest evidence of God in you

If your version of holiness creates division, shame, or harm… it might not be holiness at all.

This is a call to something better.
A faith that looks like Jesus.
A holiness that actually heals.

What if everything you were taught about holiness…
was backwards?

For a lot of people, holiness has meant distance.
Distance from “those people.”
Distance from anything messy.
Distance from anything that doesn’t fit the mold.

But in this message, Dan Minor flips that idea on its head:

Holiness was never about who you avoid.
It’s about who you move toward.

Because if holiness means “set apart”…
the real question is:

Set apart from what?
Or set apart for who?

When Jesus showed up, he didn’t build distance.
He built tables.

He didn’t avoid outsiders.
He identified with them.

He didn’t protect his “holiness” from people.
He brought it into proximity with people.

And that’s where things get uncomfortable.

Because maybe the issue isn’t “them.”
Maybe the issue is how quickly we decide who them is.

This message goes straight at the tension:

  • The people the church has written off
  • The labels we’ve used to exclude
  • The theology we’ve twisted to justify it

And it calls out something we don’t like to admit:

We’ve used holiness as a weapon…
when it was meant to be a bridge.

Dan unpacks what words like holiness and sin actually meant, exposing how far we’ve drifted from their original intent. Because what if “sinners” weren’t who we think they were?

What if they were just…
people who didn’t fit the system?

And what if Jesus didn’t come to reinforce that system…
but to tear it down?

Because here’s the reality:

If Jesus was sitting at the table today…
he’d still be with the people religion pushed out.

And if we’re honest—
that might make us uncomfortable.

So this message forces the question:

Are we becoming more like Jesus…
or just more like the people who questioned him?

Because true holiness doesn’t create distance.
It creates proximity, dignity, and belonging.

And if it crushes people…

it’s not Jesus.

What do you do when the words we sing in church get caught in your throat?

What do you do when “God is good,” “He reigns,” and “He’s on the throne” don’t land like comfort anymore, but feel like a collision with the world as it actually is?

In this message, Robyn Minor puts words to a tension a lot of people feel but rarely say out loud.

Because the truth is, for many of us, worship has not always felt honest. Not when we’ve watched systems protect themselves instead of protecting people. Not when grief gets turned into debate. Not when violence gets dressed up as order. Not when religion keeps trying to explain suffering before it’s willing to sit with it.

And that’s where this message goes straight for the nerve:

A theology that moves faster than grief has already moved too fast.

This is not a message about unbelief.
It’s a message about refusing shallow faith.
Refusing worship that numbs.
Refusing language about God that sounds too much like empire.

Because Robin asks a necessary question:
When we say God reigns, what kind of reign are we talking about?

Not a king who consolidates power.
Not a ruler who protects the throne.
Not a god made in the image of nationalism, domination, or control.

But a King who wears thorns.
A throne that looks like a cross.
A God who does not silence the wounded, but joins them.

Using the honesty of Habakkuk, this message holds the tension between horror and hope, grief and faith, protest and worship. It refuses to shrink suffering to make faith feel easier. And it refuses to shrink God just because the world is unbearable.

This is worship redefined, not as denial, but as resistance.
Not as emotional escape, but as oxygen for advocacy.
Not as pretending everything is fine, but as declaring that cruelty is not sovereign.

If you’ve ever stood in church and wondered whether you could still sing with integrity, this message is for you.

Because maybe worship isn’t about avoiding the pain.
Maybe it’s about telling the truth in the middle of it.
Maybe it’s about standing between though and yet and refusing to let darkness have the final word.

What if the thing you’re trying to survive…
is actually the thing that’s trying to save you?

In this message, Stan Mitchell walks us into a truth that isn’t flashy, but it’s devastatingly real:

God rarely shows up the way we expect.

Not in the obvious moments.
Not in the clean, predictable, “this must be God” kind of ways.

But in the messy.
The unwanted.
The misunderstood.

In the moments we would never choose.

Using the story of Joseph, Stan reframes one of the most familiar narratives in scripture and exposes something we all do:

We mistake what God is doing for what’s going wrong.

Joseph wasn’t a bad man.
He was a good man.
And he was still completely wrong.

Because pain has a way of distorting what we see.
And sometimes the very thing we’re pushing away…
is the very thing heaven is trying to give us.

This message hits deep places:

  • When life blindsides you
  • When your theology doesn’t match your reality
  • When someone you love tells you something you don’t understand
  • When everything in you says, “This is a disaster”

And quietly, underneath it all, there’s this possibility:

What if it’s not the worst thing that’s ever happened…
but the beginning of something holy?

From personal loss to family tension, from faith deconstruction to walking with marginalized communities, this message doesn’t stay theoretical. It gets painfully practical.

Because sometimes the “curse” is a disguise.
Sometimes the heartbreak is the doorway.
Sometimes the thing you’re grieving… is the thing that will heal you.

So before you shut the door…
before you walk away…

Leave it cracked.

Because it might be God.

What’s the most dangerous thing Jesus ever said?

Most people guess, “Love your enemies.” Or “Pick up your cross.” Or something about judgment.

But I don’t think that’s it.

I think the most dangerous thing Jesus ever said was this: “The kingdom of God is at hand.”

Because in the first century, that wasn’t a spiritual fortune cookie. That was an act of resistance.

Rome already had a kingdom.
Rome already had a lord.
Rome already had a “gospel.”

When a new Caesar took power, heralds would go city to city announcing the “good news” of Caesar our lord. And then this Jewish rabbi shows up and says, in effect: That’s not the real kingdom. That’s not the real Lord. That’s not the real good news.

That sentence was explosive. And it’s a big part of why Jesus ended up on a cross.

In this episode, we talk about the two competing gospels still fighting for our hearts today:

  • Caesar’s gospel: be stronger, be wealthier, be more armed, dominate to stay safe.
  • Jesus’ gospel: blessed are the poor, the meek, the merciful, the peacemakers. Serve. Lift the lowly. Free the oppressed. Feed the hungry. Visit the sick. Stand with the marginalized.

We walk through the New Testament arc:

  • the announcement (Mark 1:15)
  • the definition (Luke 4)
  • the values (Matthew 5)
  • the lived reality (Matthew 25)

And we get honest about “Christianity light,” the version that stays clean, avoids discomfort, and doesn’t get its hands dirty. The problem is: the real gospel is always going to confront an empire.

Not with weapons. Not with domination.
But with mercy, justice, courage, and a refusal to dehumanize people.

Because when you tell people the last are first, debts can be forgiven, God sides with the marginalized, and power doesn’t get the final word, you destabilize systems built on control.

That’s dangerous.

And that’s exactly the point.

Heaven is not the point.

Before you panic, take a breath. I’m not taking heaven away from you. I’m not denying eternity. I’m asking a harder question.

What if we’ve reduced the gospel to an exit strategy?

For a long time, many of us inherited a version of Christianity that feels like an escape room. Just hold on. Stay clean. Survive long enough to get out of here. Heaven is the prize.

But Jesus didn’t talk like that.

No one in the Gospels asks Him how to get into heaven. They ask why the sick are being healed. Why the poor are being centered. Why the outcasts are being welcomed. Everywhere Jesus went, things changed. People were better off.

He didn’t hand out maps to the afterlife.
He handed us instructions on how to love while we’re here.

In this episode, I wrestle out loud with what it means to pray “Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” Not someday. Not after we die. Here.

We talk about why a disposable view of the world leads to disposable compassion. Why silence from pulpits is costing us our credibility. Why justice can’t wait for eternity. Why the church is wounded. And why I still believe healing is possible.

I share a story from this week that left my hands bleeding.
I talk about righteous anger.
I talk about scars.
And I ask whether God’s dream is bigger than escape.

Because if what we do here doesn’t matter, Jesus wasted a lot of breath.

Heaven may be real. I hope it is.
But the gospel is not about getting out.
It’s about bringing heaven here.

Let’s talk about it.

When people are being targeted, “neutral” isn’t neutral.

In this urgent message, Pastor Dan Minor exposes a tactic as old as history: strip people of dignity, and harm starts to sound reasonable. You’ll hear why the phrase “I don’t like what’s happening, but…” should set off alarms, and why the church’s instinct to “wait for all the facts” can become a permission slip for cruelty.

Dan also reclaims a word many of us have seen misused: honor. Not honor as silence. Not honor as compliance. Not honor as protecting institutions. But honor as Jesus taught it — publicly recognizing someone’s full humanity and acting like it matters.

This episode is both a wake-up call and a practical blueprint: refusing neutrality when it benefits the powerful, turning our attention toward those being erased, and living at the urgency of love — not just in posts, but in priorities, relationships, and everyday choices.

We were told that love never fails.
But what happens when you loved deeply and still lost the relationship?

In this honest and unflinching message, Pastor Dan Minor confronts one of the most damaging ideas many of us inherited in faith spaces: that if love is real, it will fix everything. Drawing from Scripture, lived experience, and hard-earned wisdom, Dan reframes what “love never fails” actually means and what it doesn’t.

This episode challenges the belief that:

  • Leaving means you didn’t try hard enough
  • Boundaries mean unforgiveness
  • Walking away means love failed

Instead, Dan offers a different vision of love, one rooted in truth, integrity, and wholeness. A love that doesn’t demand denial. A love that doesn’t require self-erasure. A love that may not save every relationship, but refuses to destroy the person offering it.

If you’ve ever stayed too long, gone quiet to keep the peace, or believed that suffering was proof of faithfulness, this conversation may help you finally exhale.

Because love doesn’t fail when a relationship ends.
Love fails when we lose ourselves trying to save it.

Some of the most harmful words you ever heard in church may have started with, “God said.”

In this message, Pastor Dan Minor challenges a church habit that’s done quiet damage for decades: turning Scripture into a ranking system and metaphors into measuring sticks. Using Job 39 and the tired “ostrich vs. eagle” trope, Dan exposes how spiritual hierarchies are built, how shame gets preached, and how people leave faith spaces believing they’re inferior when God was never saying that in the first place.

If your faith has ever made you feel small, it might not be God you’re hearing. It might be someone’s lens.

This episode is a call to unlearn toxic certainty, stop projecting control onto God, and quit using the Bible to sort people into winners and losers. Because Scripture was never meant to grade you. And the animals aren’t on trial. Our assumptions are.

What happens when a culture decides it needs an enemy to survive?

In this unforgettable conversation at Harvest Sarasota, Stan Mitchell sits down with Paula Stone Williams pastor, counselor, author, TED speaker, and international advocate for gender equity for a candid, deeply personal dialogue on fear, faith, and the future.

Paula shares her story of coming out as transgender after decades of ministry and leadership, and what it cost her professionally, financially, and relationally. Together, Stan and Paula explore why humans so often organize around fear and anger, how minority groups become targets, and what it means to live with courage when the ground is shifting beneath us.

This episode doesn’t offer easy answers. It offers wisdom forged in pain, hope rooted in faith, and a clear invitation for the church and for all of us: choose proximity over projection, listen before speaking, and tell better stories in fearful times.

What if silence isn’t neutral?

In this raw and urgent episode of Harvest Sarasota, we wrestle with one question that refuses to leave us alone:
Who is paying the cost of my silence?

In a week heavy with grief, outrage, and injustice, this message cuts straight through spiritual platitudes and political avoidance. We talk about when staying quiet causes harm, when speaking up becomes holy rebellion, and how faith can be used either to protect power or defend people.

Drawing from Scripture, lived experience, and moments the church often avoids, this episode challenges the idea that God is done speaking and confronts the cost of comfort, tradition, and certainty. From Acts to today, from the pulpit to the streets, this is a call to choose compassion over convenience and courage over silence.

This episode isn’t safe.
But it might be faithful.

Listen if you’re ready to ask harder questions, hear God’s voice beyond tradition, and decide what kind of church you’re helping write into today’s chapter of Acts.

Before you get to the manger, before the angels and the shepherds and the Christmas cards with the glowing baby Jesus… you have to meet his family. And the truth is, his family is nothing like the polished nativity sets we put in church lobbies.

In this episode, we take a hard, honest look at the lineage of Christ — a family tree overflowing with scandal, trauma, exploitation, infidelity, murder, refugees, widows, immigrants, corrupt leaders, victims of injustice, survivors of sexual harm, and people who were counted out by everyone except God. The genealogy of Jesus reads less like a sacred scroll and more like a reality show gone off the rails. And that is exactly the point.

Because before scripture gives us the gift of Jesus, it gives us the reminder of where he came from: the broken, the messy, the unexpected, the unqualified, the ones society tried to erase. This is God saying to all of us who feel disqualified, ashamed of our past, or uncertain about our story: You belong here. Your story matters. And none of it disqualifies you from being part of something miraculous.

If you’ve ever wondered whether your family history, your mistakes, your identity, your trauma, or your lineage somehow puts you outside of God’s plan, this conversation will breathe hope back into your bones.
Because the Christmas story doesn’t begin with perfection.
It begins with people like us.

There’s a plan to divide us. You can feel it in the air, in the news, in the way we size each other up without even knowing it. But what if the real strategy behind all this tension isn’t political at all? What if the root of our cultural anxiety is spiritual – and ancient?

In this episode, we dig deep into the scriptural critique of scarcity, the lie that convinces us there’s not enoughcompassion, not enough belonging, not enough safety, not enough God… and therefore not enough room for one another. We walk through Jesus’ parable of the rich fool, the Greek roots of anxiety that literally mean “to divide,” the radical justice of the Torah, the generosity of the early church, and the explosive truth behind Jubilee.

This isn’t about charity. It isn’t about politics. It’s about waking up to the way fear is weaponized to turn neighbors into threats, blessings into competition, and survival into a justification for harm.
And it’s about reclaiming a better path – one rooted in abundance, shared dignity, and the courage to say: Not on our watch. People first.

If you’ve ever felt pulled into the game of who deserves what, who belongs and who doesn’t, or wondered why fear seems to spread faster than truth, this episode will remind you of the deeper story running through scripture. A story that calls us back to abundance, dignity, and the simple belief that there really is enough for all of us.

What do you do when hope feels more dangerous than despair
When every time you believed for something good, life proved you wrong
When your nervous system has learned to flinch at the very idea of hope

In this raw and tender message, Pastor Dan Minor continues his exploration of reconstruction after spiritual trauma and asks a question few churches ever dare to ask:

How do you hope again when hope is the very thing that once hurt you

Using a viral Facebook post about unexpected political civility as a launchpad, Dan uncovers the emotional and spiritual pattern so many of us live in

Controlled hopelessness...
not despair
not joy
just spiritual airplane mode
a state where hope feels too risky and neutrality feels safer than faith

This episode walks us through:

• How disappointment rewires our nervous system
• Why deconstruction was the easy part
• Why reconstruction requires courage, softness, and risk
• Why every miracle in Scripture starts with someone daring to hope
• Resistance to hope after church trauma
• The tiny moments of hope that rebuild a life
• What Scripture teaches about hope after exhaustion
from Abraham hoping against hope
to the bleeding woman risking belief one more time
to the disciples on the Emmaus road saying “We had hoped”
to Peter lowering his nets after catching nothing
to the priests stepping into the river before it parted

Dan argues that:

When we stop hoping, we stop healing
When we stop healing, we stop changing
And where there is no change, there is no resurrection

If your heart has learned to brace for disappointment, if you have lived in the rubble of deconstruction, if you are afraid to trust anything that looks like faith, this episode is for you.

Not to force hope
Not to fake hope
But to offer you one tiny, sacred moment of it

Maybe that is all resurrection needs to start.

In this deeply moving and provocative episode of The Harvest Sarasota Podcast, guest speaker Stan Mitchell challenges centuries of inherited theology by reframing the story of Eve not as the origin of sin but as the beginning of shame. With tenderness, wit, and piercing insight, Stan invites listeners to see Genesis 3 through new eyes: what if humanity’s greatest fall wasn’t disobedience but disconnection from our own belovedness?

Through a powerful retelling of Eve’s story and a hauntingly beautiful story about his daughter, Stan exposes how shame, not sin, remains the true barrier between us and the divine. This conversation will unsettle, heal, and ultimately reawaken your sense of inherent worth.

Listen in and rediscover a gospel that heals rather than condemns, a gospel where we were never truly separated from Love.

Jesus didn’t hoard the loaves and fishes. He didn’t eat in front of the hungry to “teach self-reliance.”
But if you look at how our nation treats refugees, immigrants, and the poor, you might think that story was in the Bible.

In this fiery and heartfelt message, Pastor Dan Minor takes aim at the gospel of self-preservation, the theology that baptizes greed, weaponizes scarcity, and calls fear faith.

From Sarasota to the southern border, from the parable of the rich fool to the sin of Sodom, this episode confronts the brutal truth: we have turned protecting our interests into a religion and called it holy.

Dan calls the church back to its real calling, radical hospitality, open tables, and enough for everyone. Because every miracle of bread is God saying it again and again:

“There is enough.”

This isn’t politics. It’s the gospel.
And the gospel still feeds people.

We’ve named the harm. We’ve pulled down the old house. Now it’s time to plant again.

In this follow-up to “The Seeds Were Good, The Soil Was Sick,” Pastor Dan wrestles with two haunting lines from Spencer LaJoye’s song “Plowshare Prayer”:

“I pray that you are heard. I pray that this works.”

This episode is for anyone who’s ever whispered that same prayer while stepping into something new — hoping this time will be different.

Here, faith looks less like certainty and more like courage. It’s dipping your toes into rushing water before it parts. It’s casting your net again after years of disappointment. It’s believing that the soil of love, inclusion, and honesty can grow what the soil of fear and shame never could.

We have named the harm. We have pulled the old house down. Now what?

This week, Pastor Dan invites us to do something daring: not just vent about what broke us, but remember what blessed us. Prayer that felt human; worship that felt alive; communion that felt like belonging; community that felt like family. Maybe the problem was not the seed; maybe the problem was the soil.

What if we replant the best of our evangelical past in better soil: love instead of fear, inclusion instead of gatekeeping, generosity instead of manipulation? Not a return to what was, but a reconstruction of what was good.

If you are tired of living on the demolition site, this episode will hand you blueprints and set a table.

Tired of the Disney version of Jesus? Same. This message rips the glitter off the Feeding of the 5,000 and asks a dangerous question: what if the miracle wasn’t supernatural bread popping out of thin air but people finally stopping the hoard and sharing what they had?

Pastor Dan pushes us from miracle watching to community building. Scarcity isolates. Fear blames. But faith sets a table. Maybe the sign wasn’t bread multiplying. It was hearts multiplying. If you’re done waiting for someone else to fix it, this episode will push you lovingly into action.

Listen and then bring your lunch and feed somebody.

Pastor Dan calls out a Christianity that looks more like empire than the Gospel. It’s raw, uncomfortable, and exactly what we need to hear.
If your version of Jesus blesses your politics, your comfort, and your outrage—but never asks you to love your enemies—you’re following anybody but Jesus.

From the pulpit of Harvest Sarasota, this message dismantles the idols of power, nationalism, and comfort that have hijacked the name of Christ. It’s not left or right—it’s the radical, inconvenient way of the cross.

Be warned: this one might wreck your assumptions, but it could also save your faith.

What if “on earth as it is in heaven” isn’t a wish, it’s a mandate? In Part 2, Pastor Dan Minor pushes the Lord’s Prayer from kingdom longing to kingdom living. Daily bread becomes a direct challenge to scarcity and hoarding. Forgiveness moves from private piety to public liberation, canceling moral shame and calling out predatory systems. And “deliver us from evil” names the evil for what it is: dehumanizing ideologies and unjust structures that keep us divided and afraid.

This isn’t about worshiping personalities or waiting for heaven someday. It’s about following Jesus now, loving enemies, resisting empire, and putting bread on every table. Prayer as protest. Faith with teeth. Heaven, dragged down into policy, paycheck, and neighbor.

What happens when the most familiar prayer in Christianity gets flipped on its head? Pastor Dan Minor takes Harvest Sarasota into a raw, communal breakdown of the Lord’s Prayer—line by line, through a radical lens that challenges nationalism, patriarchy, elitism, and exclusion.

This isn’t the “safe” Sunday School version. This is prayer as uprising. This is dismantling “my Father” to embrace “our Father,” even if it includes the refugee, the addict, the outcast, and the enemy. It’s hallowing God’s name by refusing to let it be hijacked by war, greed, or political power. It’s asking what justice looks like when it collides with empires, and whether heaven on earth means dismantling racism, sexism, and homophobia right now—not someday in the clouds.

Last week we asked if we’ve misdiagnosed the human soul. This week we get practical.

Pastor Dan unpacks how inherent union with God reshapes everyday life—moving us from defensiveness, scarcity, and exclusion to compassion, joy, and radical inclusion. If shame isolates and estranges, union restores dignity and brings us home to who we’ve always been.

From Jesus standing with the marginalized to how we parent, argue, forgive, and show up for our city, this message shows what happens when we stop earning love and start living from it. Less fear of punishment. More fearless love.

What if the deepest wound in the human soul isn’t sin—but shame?

In this stirring message, we dive into one of the most radical shifts in Christian thought in two thousand years: moving from a doctrine of inherent separation from God to a vision of inherent union with God.

With raw honesty, the sermon wrestles with the Garden story, the cross, and the very heart of the gospel. What if salvation is not about clawing our way back to a God who left us, but awakening to the truth that God never left? What if our shame, not our sin, is the lie that keeps us hiding in the bushes?

This episode doesn’t just challenge centuries of teaching—it offers healing. It dares us to imagine a Christianity that begins not with fear, but with belovedness. A faith not obsessed with fixing what’s “wrong,” but resting in the God who has been with us all along.

If you’ve ever carried the weight of religious shame or wondered if you were ever truly “safe” with God, this conversation liberate your soul.

What happens when we stop begging for a seat at the table—and build our own instead?

In this provocative and hope-filled conversation, Pastor Dan sits down with Brandan Robertson—pastor, activist, and author of Queer and Christian—to talk about what it means to move beyond fear-based religion into a faith rooted in love, liberation, and authenticity.

From unpacking the infamous “clobber passages” to challenging the ways institutions weaponize scripture, Brandan invites us to imagine a Christianity that looks more like Jesus and less like fear. Along the way, we hear stories of religious trauma, the lingering grip of shame, and the radical power of God’s love to set us free.

If you’ve wrestled with your identity, questioned the Bible you were handed, or longed for a faith expansive enough to hold both truth and love, this episode will meet you right where you are.

What if uncertainty wasn’t a weakness in your faith but the very thing that makes it real? In this powerful episode, Pastor Dan invites us into a raw and honest conversation about growing up in rigid religious systems, the suffocating demand for certainty, and the guilt that comes when life doesn’t fit into neat boxes of right and wrong.

Through humor, storytelling, and hard truths, we confront how fear of being “wrong” has divided families, harmed communities, and pushed many away from the church. But here’s the radical shift: what if God actually meets us in the gray? What if love, justice, and mercy are less about absolute answers and more about choosing compassion over control?

From childhood stories about “sippin’ saints” to the woman caught in adultery, this episode peels back the layers of dogma to reveal a faith that breathes, bends, and dares to love in messy places.

The Fast God Actually Chose

We’ve been told fasting means giving up food for a set time to get closer to God. But in Isaiah 58, God says something very different—and far more disruptive.

In this message, Pastor Dan reframes “fasting” as a radical commitment to justice, compassion, and action. This isn’t about religious rituals or empty traditions. It’s about breaking the chains of injustice, feeding the hungry, sheltering the unhoused, and refusing to stay silent when the vulnerable are under attack.

🔥 Why God ignores “religious” fasting while people are oppressed
🔥 How early Christians became known for nursing the sick and fighting systemic injustice
🔥 Why churches must stop focusing on the wrong “enemies”
🔥 What fasting looks like in Sarasota today—food banks, housing, mental health care, and more

This episode is for anyone tired of performative religion and ready to follow Jesus into real, tangible, life-changing love.

Jesus Never Said “Good Luck With That, Poor People”

What if revival looks like prenatal care and insulin access?
What if the most miraculous thing we can do… is build a healthcare system that heals everyone?

In this fire-filled sermon, Pastor Dan dismantles the narrow, harmful theology that’s told generations of Christians that real healing only happens with oil and hands-on prayer—and instead paints a stunning vision of what “greater things” might actually mean.

Spoiler: It’s not another tent revival.

Instead, this message calls out hypocrisy in pulpits and politics—from the pastors demonizing medicine to the lawmakers quoting Scripture while gutting healthcare for the poor. Dan unpacks the church’s long, rich history of compassion-based medicine and asks why we’ve strayed so far.

🚨 Featuring:

  • The truth about Medicaid opposition and who’s funding it
  • Martin Luther King Jr.’s take on healthcare injustice
  • The shocking reality of pregnant women in Sarasota without OB care
  • How Harvest is showing up with real solutions—including 4,000+ hours of free mental healthcare

This sermon is for anyone tired of empty words and looking for a gospel that actually heals bodies and spirits.

Will freedom feel like treason because war is all we know?
What if the real treason is staying silent?

In this bold, gut-honest sermon, Pastor Dan breaks open the toxic war narrative embedded in American evangelicalism—and calls it what it is: spiritual manipulation designed to control, divide, and dominate.

🔥 From pastors threatening kids who wear nail polish
🔥 To churches applauding violence from the pulpit
🔥 To ICE raids that go unchallenged by "Christian" leaders

This message dares to say no more.

You’ll hear the historical roots of this siege mentality—from Constantine to January 6—alongside a fierce defense of doubt, questioning, compassion, and actual Christ-like love. This is a sermon for the disillusioned, the deconstructing, and the determined.

Whether you’ve walked away from the church or are searching for a faith that makes sense in today’s world, this episode is your rallying cry:

Recorded during Pride and Juneteenth, this gathering becomes sacred ground as individuals—young and old, queer and disabled, once-pastors and once-rejects—stand up to say: We’re still here. We still believe. And we will overcome.

Dan Minor turns the mic over to the people, and what unfolds is holy disruption. A 17-year-old recalls being bullied and dismissed at church camp. A gay parent finds sanctuary for her son at last. A former holiness pastor loses everything when he tells the truth and finds real love on the other side. A disabled activist reminds us: This too is worship.

If you've ever been hurt by the Church or wondered if there's a place for you in faith, this episode is your invitation to come back home.

This one will shake the pews. Pastor Dan dives headfirst into a story the church has tiptoed around for centuries—the radical inclusion of the first queer convert in scripture. What does Isaiah really say about eunuchs? And why did we skip Acts 8:37 in most modern Bibles?

This isn't just about theology—it’s about justice, Pride, and reclaiming a gospel big enough for everyone. Whether you’ve ever felt on the outside looking in, or you're ready to challenge everything you’ve been taught about who’s “in” and who’s “out,” this message is for you.

Get ready for:

  • A divine door kicked wide open
  • Spiritual rewiring from Isaiah to Acts
  • A gospel that breaks the rules to welcome the marginalized
  • A baptism that skipped the checklist
  • A queer outsider’s joyful liberation

It’s bold. It’s raw. It’s the gospel!

What if everything you’ve been taught about love is… wrong?

In this daring, soul-stretching episode of the Harvest Sarasota Podcast, Dan Minor rips the leash off the way we weaponize love — in religion, romance, parenting, and even in how we see ourselves. Get ready for a raw conversation that fuses science, psychology, scripture, and sacred truth to expose how we’ve traded authentic connection for comfortable control.

✨ Ever felt "loved" in a way that left you ashamed, anxious, or bound?
🌱 What do fungi, forests, and mitochondria teach us about the Gospel?
💔 Could your trauma be trapped in your fascia?
🔥 And what if resurrection isn’t about escaping death… but inhabiting life?

Dan dives deep into the gut-level truth that healing doesn't mean spotless perfection — it means integrating the scars, reclaiming your wholeness, and living from your fully loved, fiercely free self.

It’s time to stop calling coercion “compassion,” shame “spiritual,” and control “Christ-like.”

Love is not a leash. Love sets the captive free — even if the captive is you.

💥 This episode will challenge your theology, crack open your heart, and maybe… just maybe… change how you love — forever.

What if everything you were taught about the nature of God was only half the story?

In this bold, challenging, and deeply restorative Mother’s Day message, Pastor Dan Minor flips the script on centuries of patriarchal theology. Drawing from Numbers 27 and the courageous protest of the daughters of Zelophehad, he reexamines how the Bible — and the church — have historically erased the feminine from the divine.

From the silenced wisdom of women to the gendered erasure of terms like El Shaddai, Ruach, and Shekinah, Pastor Dan exposes how empire and control distorted the image of God into a one-dimensional male authority. With historical insight, scriptural depth, and honest repentance, he invites listeners to rediscover a God who nurtures, comforts, and empowers — not just as a Father, but as Mother too.

Whether you're a mother by birth, by spirit, or simply someone who's ever felt unseen in church spaces, this episode is a clarion call to speak, to stand, and to reclaim your place in the sacred story.

God didn’t rebuke the daughters of Z — God affirmed them. And maybe it’s time the church did too.

In this soul-shaking, unapologetic episode of the Harvest Sarasota Podcast, Pastor Stan Mitchell delivers a raw and redemptive message that strips away the polite pretenses of church tradition and dives deep into the radical inclusivity of the Gospel. With the storytelling brilliance of a weathered preacher and the urgency of a prophet, Mitchell walks us through John 9—not as a theological text, but as a living, breathing cry for justice, belonging, and visibility.

Mitchell doesn't merely preach; he exposes the wounds of religion, the pain of families divided by doctrine, and the betrayal felt by those cast out by the very institutions that claimed to love them. He elevates the story of the blind man healed by Jesus as a holy mirror, reflecting the experience of countless LGBTQ+ individuals who have been seen as problems instead of people. The message is piercing: Jesus saw a person. His followers saw a theological issue.

This episode is not just for the deconstructed or the disenfranchised. It's for every parent caught between church and child. Every pastor afraid to step into the full light of truth. Every listener longing to know if there’s still a place called home where healing isn’t questioned and identity isn’t up for debate.

If you've ever been told your story doesn't fit inside the church—this episode will tell you otherwise. This is not just a conversation. It’s a commissioning. A wake-up call. A reintroduction to a Jesus who still turns around and comes looking for the ones left behind.

"You're not tolerated here," Mitchell declares. "You're celebrated."**

Forget the comforting traditions—this Easter, Harvest Sarasota boldly asked, "Are we denying the resurrection with our lives?" In this provocative sermon, we unpack the revolutionary reality of Jesus' resurrection beyond mere belief, challenging our complicity with injustice, inequality, and oppression. Pastor Dan Minor urges us to confront uncomfortable truths: when we ignore racism, homophobia, sexism, poverty, and every form of exclusion, we're effectively denying the transformative power of resurrection itself.

Drawing inspiration from Mary Magdalene—the overlooked woman whose radical solidarity defied societal norms—we're called to revolutionary living, fierce advocacy, and persistent compassion. It's not enough to celebrate a historical event; it's time to embody it by standing boldly with the marginalized and silenced.

Join us as we reject hollow proclamations and affirm a faith that demands action.

What if the Bible has been used often to destroy instead of to redeem? What if sticking to "biblical precedent" can at times actually puts us at odds with the Spirit of Jesus? In this bold and unfiltered episode of Harvest Sarasota, Pastor Dan is taking a sledgehammer to the toxic theology that has justified everything from condemnation to oppression—all in the name of scripture.

"Just because the Bible says it doesn’t mean you should do it."

We’re diving deep into Luke 9, where Jesus shuts down the disciples’ fiery vengeance inspired by Elijah. Because here’s the hard truth: You can be backed by scripture and still be completely out of sync with Jesus. And history proves it—slavery, segregation, religious wars, the suppression of women, and the exclusion of the LGBTQ+ community have all been biblically justified but spiritually misaligned.

If it’s not bringing redemption, restoration, and love—it’s not the Spirit of Jesus.

So, what spirit are YOU operating in? Join us as we confront the ways the church has missed it, challenge harmful interpretations, and call for a radical return to grace, inclusion, and the redemptive heart of Christ.

In this fiery and unapologetic episode of Harvest Sarasota, Pastor Dan Minor takes on one of the greatest threats to our faith and purpose: distraction. With the chaos of today’s world—political turmoil, cultural clashes, and endless noise—it’s easy to lose sight of what really matters. But distraction isn’t just an accident; it’s a weapon. And it’s being used to keep us divided, defeated, and paralyzed.

Pastor Dan pulls no punches as he challenges the lies we’re told, the fear we’re fed, and the fights we’re baited into that lead us nowhere. Through Philippians 3, the powerful legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and some personal stories that will have you laughing and gasping, Pastor Dan reveals how to cut through the noise, refocus on the prize, and fight for what truly matters: people, justice, and a world transformed by the radical love of Jesus.

This isn’t your typical Sunday message—it's a rallying cry. If you’re tired of the madness and ready to reclaim your purpose in the storm, this episode is for you.

In this episode, we explore a universal truth that transcends time and belief systems: the quest for identity. From the earliest stories of humanity, like Adam and Eve in the garden, we see how a single deception shifted our understanding of ourselves and the world. The serpent's lie wasn't about breaking a rule—it was about distorting our sense of who we are.

We'll revisit the Genesis narrative, where Adam and Eve hid from their source of love, creating a false image of themselves and of God. This ancient story echoes through time, speaking to the way we still grapple with questions of identity today.

Drawing from wisdom across various spiritual traditions, we reflect on how our distorted self-image has led to separation, fear, and confusion. But the journey doesn’t stop there. This episode explores how wholeness and true identity can be rediscovered, not by following rigid rules, but by embracing the deeper truth of our oneness with the divine and with each other.

We are reminded that identity is not something we have to achieve—it's something we are born into. This episode invites listeners of all backgrounds to reflect on their own journey of identity, wholeness, and belonging. No longer nameless or formless, we are each part of a greater whole, connected in love and purpose. Listen as we explore what it means to move from separation into unity, and from fear into freedom.

In Order, Disorder, Reorder, we explore the transformative spiritual journey that every person and community must undertake. Drawing from biblical wisdom and the evolution of human experience, this podcast dives into the universal pattern of growth: moving from a place of security and structure (Order), through the challenges and disorientation of change (Disorder), to the enlightened peace that comes with renewal (Reorder).

If you are journeying through deconstruction or questioning your traditional faith, this wisdom pattern will allow you to brush off the opinions of the people around you and stay focused on the beauty of discovering new life on the other side of evangelicalism.

Inspired by John 12:24, we examine how spiritual growth requires the death of old ways to bear the fruit of transformation. Like the journey of Israel, the "womb of the Incarnation," each stage of life reveals deeper layers of faith, wisdom, and understanding. Through stories of suffering, success, and everything in between, we learn to embrace the paradoxes of life—where darkness and light coexist, and where everything belongs.

Join us as we unpack these stages of life and faith, discovering how love, faith, and hope guide us through uncertainty toward the only thing that endures: the deep, indestructible presence of God in every moment.

“Righteousness” without justice always manifests as hate. Explore the 2 commandments that Jesus told his disciples that replaced the law of Moses and how for generations we have cherry picked Mosaic laws to justify shaming people into conformance. Meaningless conversation is often disguised in religious eloquence. Just because it sounds sincere, doesn’t make it true.

What if love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control are the the only laws for spiritual governance and everything must flow from that. Anything that doesn't resemble these attributes is indeed not Godly and never will be.
