We recorded this episode a couple of days after Kobe Bryant's passing. I'm editing this now a couple of weeks later, having listened to it again for the first time. I have a lot of apprehension about releasing this episode because it is such a hard topic to cover. There are so many different angles and people have such strong emotions, both positively and negatively, about Kobe Bryant. That's also why I thought it was important to release this episode. When we decided to do the Denverse podcast, I thought it wanted to start having conversations in different ways. I feel like this episode brings up a lot of complicated angles to Kobe Bryant's legacy. Our attempt may be imperfect. It may not say everything that I would like for it to say, but it is a raw, conversation done with the best of intentions. Thank you for listening to the Denverse. —Derek

I went to the last Rocky Mountain showdown, which was a success for the Colorado Buffaloes (1:00) Next up, CU will try to upset Nebraska. The Colorado Rockies are still on the hunt for their four wins in September to avoid 100 losses. Ian Desmond pitched a scoreless inning and then hit a home run against the Dodgers (8:00) A quick update on the FIBA World Cup, featuring Nikola Jokic (10:00). Bol Bol has signed a two-way contract with the Nuggets (13:30).
Avalanche rookie camp starts this weekend (16:15). Hockey season is almost here! The Broncos finalized their roster. Who is the Broncos backup quarterback? (17:30). Also, Empower Field at Mile High Stadium, it’s new Denver (21:00).
Altitude TV is off the air…forever? (24:15). I forgot to mention that Fox Sports is also a player in regional sports networks. Finally, we’re sad to see Adam Mares and Brendan Vogt leave Denver Stiffs. We can’t wait to see what’s next for the pair.

Derek and Quinn traveled to watch the Nuggets play in Vegas. The 36-hour trip to see the summer league roster was full of interesting stories, but the basketball was lacking.
Then they turned their attention to the Nuggets acquisition of Jerami Grant from the Oklahoma City Thunder and the tectonic shifts in the NBA’s Western Conference (13:00).
