Washington's Summer Wine Festival! Kirkland Uncorked is Washington’s summer wine festival. Taking place August 27-29, 2021 in scenic Marina Park (25 Lakeshore Plaza Dr), the festival, a weekend long celebration of world-class Washington wineries, is a benefit for the Homeward Pet Adoption.
The festival is split into two parts, a 21+ Tasting Garden and an all ages Street Fair. The Tasting Garden features wine tasting, live music, and a Saturday Grill-Off. The Street Fair features the Uncorked Market, the CityDog Dog Modeling Contest, and a Saturday Food Truck Feast.

Kirkland Uncorked is a benefit for Homeward Pet Adoption Center. Homeward Pet Adoption Center is one of Washington State’s leading non-profit, no-kill animal shelters. Located in Woodinville and serving the greater Seattle area, we help homeless animals from all over the state find new loving, caring homes. Since our founding in 1990, more than 25,000 animals have been given a second chance through our rescue, shelter and adoption programs. Homeward Pet relies on the hard work of our over 350 volunteers, and the generous support of our donors, to help over 1,600 dogs and cats find their forever homes each year.

We Rock the Spectrum Kids Gyms was founded to provide a place for children of all ability levels to play and grow together. As the only kids gym that offers an inclusive philosophy we have found all children can benefit from our uniquely designed sensory equipment that is specifically designed to aid children with sensory processing disorders. However, in our experience, all children are able to benefit greatly from this equipment and by allowing children of all ability levels to play together they are able to learn a great deal from each other and become the best motivation for success on every level. The staff at We Rock the Spectrum Kids Gyms are comprised of the most caring, understanding and energetic people around. We have a host of staffers and volunteers who come to us in order to assist our gym and its goal of aiding children with special needs in growing beyond the expectations of doctors and therapists. Often a therapist for a child with special needs will attend the gym with the children in order to observe and provide their therapy while using the equipment in our gym. This allows kids the access they want to the amazing equipment while the therapist is able to take advantage of the support and availability of the staff and equipment which might not be present in other settings. Jen Chambers was born and raised in the Northwest. After obtaining her degree in interior design she recognized that in addition to expressing herself through design she could also enhance and convey her perspective through art. Jen found her true passion as a mixed media artist in 2005 and has never looked back. She is constantly viewing the world through her own artistic lens and is greatly inspired by textures that are found in the natural landscape. She draws from her interpretation of nature and strives to interlace movement with serenity through both common and abstract forms.
Jen works with acrylic mixed medias as well as encaustics. Her style, although always highly textural, ranges greatly, allowing her freedom in artistic experimentation, resulting in constant evolution.
Jen’s work can be found at Gray Sky Gallery in Seattle as well as Sorella Salon & Spa in the Issaquah Highlands.

Chef Kristen Schumacher, a graduate of Indiana University, the Seattle Culinary Academy, and a proud attendee of the Quillisascut Farm School of the Domestic Arts, Chef Kristen Schumacher (Chef Schu) feels fortunate to live and work in the Pacific Northwest, where she is surrounded by such abundance and inspiration for the food she cooks. As a restaurateur, farmers market coordinator, cookbook contributor, caterer, cooking instructor, and food product manufacturer, she has been active in many facets of cooking through the years. One of Chef Schu’s passions is being a sustainable food advocate and volunteer. She has offered her time and expertise to various Seattle & Snoqualmie Valley organizations to help promote and educate people about the local food economy and sustainable kitchen practices. She has also taken up farming in her own backyard. Growing food that she can cook with completes the circle of farm to table cuisine. She has served as a personal chef for local celebrities, a cooking instructor and in-house chef’ at The Pantry in Ballard Washington, as well as a guest instructor at a number of different cooking schools in the area. Her latest adventure was owner and head chef at the farm-to-table Heirloom Cookshop in downtown Snoqualmie. Anyone who went remembers it as a place to eat delicious food from the ever-changing menu, support the local producers and community, and make wonderful memories. Chef Schu plans to carry on that tradition at Heirloom Cookshop Collective Farm for events and dinners under the stars. Liz and David started Plant Life Meals in Summer 2019 after lots of soul searching. Author David Williams write about Mira Slovak who was born in Czechoslovakia and endured both the Nazi occupation and the brutal Russian liberation. He joined the Czech Air force, rising to captain by the age of twenty-one. When he could no longer tolerate life under the Communists, he hijacked an airliner and flew across the Iron Curtain to freedom. He went to work for the CIA and was eventually sent to the US and given a job as Bill Boeing, Jr.'s personal pilot. When Boeing began racing hydroplanes in the late 1950s, Mira was his driver. During his ten-year career as a hydroplane driver, he won many races and two national championships. He met presidents and dated movie starlets. After a serious hydroplane accident, Slovak switched to airplanes, and won another national championship. When he retired from racing, he became a stunt pilot and public speaker and talked about the value of freedom and how we should value it above everything else. He outlasted Communism and when it collapsed in 1990, he returned to his home, only to realize that his true home was, and always would be, the United States.
