Today we are all slaves because our destiny is not our own to direct and control as it should be. We vote, and representatives go to the state house and to Washington to represent us, but they vote not to please us, but to please their contributors, the men who supply them with money.
Our government is a system of legalized bribery and extortion, and if we don’t change it, like an appendix gone bad, it is going to kill us. I was a Democrat all my life but I have changed, now I am neither Democrat or Republican. I still believe in the same things, but circumstances have changed and we have to adjust. We must leave ideology and party behind and practice pragmatic realism in its place. We are in a post ideological world, all the ism’s of the past are dead, Communism, neoliberalism, political correctness, all the ideologies have failed. If we do not change and adapt we will fail as well. Our government elites have failed. No one says western civilization has to succeed or even survive.
Everywhere we have tried nation building, whether in Afghanistan, Africa, the ME we have failed. Even after the application of billions and free and fair elections, true Democracy, peace and prosperity, has failed to take hold. The answer to our failure lies in our culture and how it evolved. Democracy evolved 2,500 years ago and was perfected in Athens, Greece. The explosion of human creativity, wealth, and military prowess has never been equaled. Our culture of 2,500 years was formed by 5 major factors. Democracy, Romanization, Christianity, the Renaissance, and the Enlightenment. It appears there are few if any shortcuts or substitutes to cultural evolution.
