Since the last podcast David has become a father and has continued to perform in the Maryland area. Stephen and Sean are joined by the good doctor himself Ryan Pressman and music sage Kyle Duncan to break down Peter Jackson's epic three part restoration of the Beatles Get Back sessions from January 1969.
Casey Edwards s a composer, producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. His work spans across the film, tv, and gaming worlds in addition to his own projects. In this episode, Ryan and Steve sat down with Casey and extort him into revealing his secrets to his success as a musician.
We are starting up another edition of Making The Scene. The focus this time is on the Beat Generation as we take a present day perspective on what the Beats did as well as the movements that followed in their wake.
The first of this recurring series will be with historian and writer Dennis McNally. Dennis is probably most well known for his work as the biographer and publicist for the Grateful Dead. You can see him prominently featured in the six part documentary series Long Strange Trip which is based on McNally’s book of the same name. Prior to his tenure working for The Dead, Dennis wrote one of the earliest biographies on Jack Kerouac and the Beat Generation titled Desolate Angel, which was influential in establishing his relationship with Jerry Garcia. His chronicling of both the Beats and Grateful Dead allows Dennis with the unique perspective to help us examine the cultural foundations to which these scenes could develop. Which is why he is our first guest to help us dive in to our exploration and celebration of the Beat Generation.
In this conversation, Stephen and Dennis discuss the conceptual foundations of both the Beats and countercultural movements at large, American definitions of freedom, Henry David Thoreau, and leadership qualities found in reluctant or egoless leaders. Much of this conversation covers material from his most recent publication, On Highway 61: Music, Race and the Evolution of Cultural Freedom.

This week were hanging out with Davey Allen who recently moved back to Indiana and has recently released a new solo record called Pisces.
Davey Allen is a versatile songwriter, musician, and artist. His work is deeply rooted in the vast American songbook. Though his family migrated north from rural Tennessee in the 1950’s Allen’s music retains a southern quality and grit.
Davey has toured extensively as a solo artist and as keyboardist for rock hall of famer Eric Burdon. In addition, he has toured as a member of the Stone Foxes and Johnzo West + The Wayward Souls. Allen also fronts LA-country band Davey And The Midnights. Davey is an advocate of many social causes and has previously donated a portion of his album sales to the Dolores Huerta Foundation.

Hailing from Houston, Texas, Bertrand Vellkey as gained the notorious reputation of being the “Mr. Rogers” of the community. An Impressive feat considering the talent pool for kindness is extremely abundant with this group of people. Bert has been playing guitar in the Alhambra/Los Angeles area over the past decade with his own project the Space Race, which soon evolved into the Crazy Brave. Bert has also been a member of the Everly Brothers Experience touring roster since 2016. Bert is currently now working on a solo record that is expected to be released this summer.

This week’s Making The Scene PLaNETS edition features musician, songwriter, and all around good guy Zachary Zmed. Known in community for his original work with The Janks, Zach and his brother Dylan (a LB6 Show Alum. Perhaps we will reissue that episode in the future…) have now been touring across the country and abroad preserving the legacy of the Everly Brothers in their Everly Brothers Experience show for the past five years.
