As we step through our ministry resources and walk through God's Word, we want to encourage and equip you to go and make disciples - wherever God has given you an influence in the game of baseball. Hopefully, this podcast will give you all that extra boost in your discipleship groups (DGroups) as you meet together regularly. This is the Training for an Eternal Crown Podcast with Full Count Ministries.
Sin is consequential in nature. There has yet to exist a sin that does not inherently bring about consequence. We experience these consequences in numerous ways that we will unpack in "Sin's Consequence". Ultimately -- only one thing, or one person, can make it right.
Objectives for "Sin's Consequence":

See that the Gospel of Jesus overcomes all consequences of sin.
Sin is more than just a behavioral result, it is an identity issue. Sin dwells within mankind and works at causing us to self-destruct further and further into it's control. In "The Root of Sin", see how sin suppresses the truth and deceives us.

It doesn't take long for us to see that there is a fundamental problem in our world today. This problem we see all around us has a name, and that is sin. In "The Sin Problem", unpack some common questions regarding exactly what sin is.

God's character draws a unique type of authority in our lives. In "Worthy Authority" we will see what it really means to "fear God" and live our lives in response to who He is.

The Holy Spirit aids us in being image bearers of God.

God is ultimately our Creator, and created us for a specific purpose while we live our lives on earth. However, God is complete and without need. In "A Mirrored Image", see the love God has for us by creating us with great intent.

Our image is His purpose. We are to mirror the qualities that God possesses in our lives.

In "Hello, My Name Is..." we will begin answering the question "Who is God?". God is given a variety of names all throughout scripture, and these names actually help us better understand who He is. Examine the different names God is given in His Word to gain understanding of His character.

I want to go ahead and give you a head’s up on some content coming down the pipeline with Full Count before we get started here. We have the WE ARE study that will be available on the app in August, particularly for our annual fall league, but it’ll be available for you too! — which takes us through the gospel simply and gives our guys the opportunity to take an identity as a christ-following baseball player. Through these chapters, we’re going to talk about, in our initial thoughts, the effects of sin in Jacob’s life. It really comes to light as he goes to meet his brother Esau after they’ve been separated for years. And then we highlight a good character trait in Jacob in the Spotlight for this week – which will give us a great challenge for the week in our DGroups!

Why does scripture record all the nitty gritty details – the wrongs and pitfalls – of people in scripture? Lets talk about that as we prepare to read this week. We love how the Bible has the major theme and thread through the Genesis account, but also these mini stories that shed light on everyday life. We move on in the story of Abraham as he sends his servant to find a wife for Isaac, and he trusts in God as he has this encounter at a well. A well also pops back up in the New Testament storyline as Jesus encounters the Samaritan woman. What can we gather from these stories? How are they relevant today? ...Also, we want to send you away with a challenge for your DGroups in this episode!
The promised son, through whom all the nations of the earth will be blessed, is born! Isaac is born to Sarah. Finally! And then... God tells Abraham to sacrifice this son. Well, this is prophetic! This definitely points to Jesus Christ on the cross, but let's talk a little more about what this story means before you present this story to your Dgroups this week.
We're moving on in the life of Abraham and take a moment in Week 8 of the Genesis Journal to read the story of Sodom & Gomorrah through chapters 18 and 19 in Genesis. In this grim story, what can we learn about our relationship with Jesus? What are the tangible takeaways as Christians today?
Today's episode went a little long, but that's because we wanted to give you a quick recap of where we've been in the Genesis story so far. At about 6:30 into the episode, we pick up at chapters 15-17. We tell you what to look out for in this week's readings, but also jump into the spotlight in Galatians chapter 3 focusing on those who believe in works-based salvation and lean on their works to prove themselves. Then, we give you a challenge at the end of our discussion. Enjoy!
Okay, God has set the stage and given us a background on the history of the world and its foundations - and now we start the story of Abraham that will take us through the rest of the Bible! When God says, "all nations of the earth will be blessed through you," how does God accomplish that? Let's talk about it!
Hey guys! Let's dive into week 5 of the Genesis Journal on page 60 and talk about what the pouring out of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost (recorded in Acts chapter 2) has to do with the Tower of Babel.
So Noah built the ark, and now we see that God does what he says he will do - bringing the flood. This week in our spotlight, we want to specifically talk about how this story relates to the second coming of Christ.
This week, we begin to dive into the story of Noah and the ark through Genesis 5-7:5. We answer two conversation starter questions on page 36 of the Genesis Journal. How does Jesus being the door relate to Noah's ark and the flood? How much faith did Noah have in God? We hope you get encouragement as you listen!
