We are using the metaphor of a garden in our discussion of the psalms. For these psalms can lead us into the bliss of paradise, the garden from which we were once banished. The psalms are a garden of various types of flowers and our insertion into the psalms can only lead us to that garden paradise. St. Athanasius, Our Holy Father, Archbishop of Alexandria (295-373), in his letter to Marcellinus on the interpretation of the Psalms describes the Book of Psalms as a garden containing all the fruits of the Scriptures.
