Wessel Badenhorst's start in Australia was a bit rocky at first: losing his job, his marriage and struggling to see a way forward for himself.
But when he met Suzie, she helped him regain focus and see the wonderful opportunities that lay before him- a loving relationship, plenty career prospects, and an amazing country.
Fast forward five years, and Wessel says he would not want his life any different. He has built up his position in his current company and has helped the business flourish to even greater heights. He also runs a Springbok supporters Facebook group and have loved engaging with fellow rugby lovers in Australia.
Listen to hear how this lovely gentleman went from down in the dumps, to now being on top of the mountain.

When you plan to move to Australia, you need to take two main types of costs into consideration: 1. Your setting up costs, and 2. Your living costs.
These two will help you work out and budget for the biggest and best move of your life when you migrate to Australia.
Being in control of your journey starts by being well informed and planning for the journey. Your finances are a critical part of this!
Remember to also watch my other video in the series on the Living Costs in Australia for 2023, episode 137.
Considering coming over but not sure what you can expect to pay for everyday, every week and every month type things? This video is for you.
We break down the typical living costs for a family of 2 adults and 2 children in modern day Australia, taking into consideration massive covid and war infused inflation increases over the past two years.
Watch the episode to hear what our figure is that we think would allow you to live reasonably in a city in Australia, as well as what you could expect to expend for this like schools, daycare, car premiums, mobile phone packages, trips to the hair salon, children's activities and many more.
Knowing your expenses, will allow you to be in a better position to negotiate on a job offer when it gets presented, as well as provide an idea of what to be on the lookout for when you arrive, what you could consider expending for usual expenses for your family. Knowing these figures will boost your confidence and provide peace of mind in the often what-could-easily-become a world of migration madness!
Question of the day- how much is YOUR current living expenses as a family at the moment? Let us know in the comments below!

Life in Australia as an immigrant
If you have been finding yourself pulling out your hair or wishing you had known 'that thing' before you started, you need to watch this episode.
I tell you about the most important step that you can take for your migration journey that will help you smooth the way forward.
Make 2023 the year in which you move to Australia. The time is ticking, and you should be getting to Australia asap so that you can come and start living this dream life of freedom, opportunity and an incredible quality of life.
Why wait?
One of the most asked questions I get every week, is 'How do I get a sponsored job for Australia?'.
In this episode I provide 10 steps on how you can position yourself best to be able to land that dream Aussie job.
When financial advisor, Myan Subrayan, was held up at gunpoint in South Africa, he vowed that he would find a safer future for himself, his wife and their 8 month old baby.
Landing in NZ and finding himself out of any funds unexpectedly, he started a long intraspection as to why these unfortunate things were happening to him.
His unwavering faith in God and luck meeting with a NZ Maori elder brought new light to his way and paved his life forward as one of motivation, faith and courage to so many others he encountered from then on.
A job offer that he could not resist, saw him relocating his family back to South Africa in 2012 for 7 years. In 2019 with increased safety concerns for his family and load shedding now being a constant more than a per-occasion-occurrence, they decided to move back to NZ.
Shortly after their third overseas move, Myan and his family decided to follow their next calling and made their fourth overseas move, this time from NZ to Australia. First based in NSW as a church pastor, to now having taken on a teaching role in a Christian school in Perth in 2022, where he feels his family has found their forever spot.
Join me in this episode to hear not only Myan's inspirational story about his calling from God and his life living in all three of the Tri Nation countries, but also how Myan became involved in the All Blacks, Springboks and so many other sporting greats' inside circles and took them to even higher heights.
If you have ever wondered 'Now what on earth would be any factors that would influence my decision NOT to move to Australia?', this video is for you!
We dug deep and hard to come up with 5 reasons why you might want to reconsider making your permanent move to Australia.
Don't regret immigrating to Down Under- watch our video and make an informed decision!
Question of the day: Which of these factors would make YOU reconsider your move to Aus?

Life in Australia as an immigrant
Born in Zimbabwe, lived in Botswana for her primary school years, then South Africa for high school, then Ireland in her 20s, Maxine and her young family finally found their permanent home in Australia.
When they decided to move to Ireland initially, they said they were going to embrace the weather and make the best of it, but reality soon clouded that thought and they couldn't live in the cold and dark any longer.
They saved up just enough to buy tickets for all four of them (this time to Aus), plus their 3 furry babies (probably the most well-migrated four legged trio!), and landed in Perth with only their suitcases on hand.
8 months later, and they are thriving, have saved up enough to put down a deposit on a house and are loving the life they have found Down Under.

We always hear "Chamonix, you are so outspoken about loving Australia, but what are the WORST aspects of living there?" So Carl and I decided to dig deep, find answers and in this video we share our 5 most annoying things of living in this country that we always rant and rave about!
We still rant and rave about it, even though we managed to find 5 things to share that we thought, if we really did have to find something, these would make our top factors of things we would have liked to be able to change.
Remember to share below what your thoughts are on the things we mentioned, and if you think you would be able to live with these things compared to the annoying things you have to live with in your current home country!

It’s really a crazy time of the year, as we finalise work commitments before going on leave, with loads of Christmas planning and holiday activities to arrange, food prep, and all of course all of the last-minute Christmas shopping (which is always inevitable, even though we try our best to avoid mingling with the masses).
Do you find yourself getting so ‘wrapped up’ in trying to find that perfect gift for your loved one? It can certainly be a very stressful experience and may often revolve around very impractical, short-lived gifts and gestures being exchanged in the process.
But it may also be a time of year when you start reassessing what is important in your life. Maybe you find yourself questioning and reflecting on what it is that gets you up in the mornings.
Following on in the spirit of Christmas, I may have the best solution for you. And it involves something a little more than just focusing on the ‘present’ (and the ‘here and now’).
I’d like to offer you not only the TOP gift suggestion for this Christmas but an opportunity too for you to give the gift of life. I’m talking about giving you and your family the opportunity to realise your dream of making that prospective move over to Australia. I want to help you turn that into a reality - and making your journey over, one that is easier, faster and more probable. Let’s make your migration plan actionable and start your New Year off with your goals set in place.

In our 113th episode, I have a chat with Chamonix Higginson, a Transformation Mentor. Yes, can you believe it – and we have so much more in common than just our names!
In this episode, we chat about authenticity and "Cha" shares with us how she helps others in discovering who they are and how they can show up by being truly authentic to themselves. No matter where you are in your life's journey, it’s always a good reminder to be true to yourself and to those around you, and I feel that this serves as an important reminder for us always.
As we may not always understand the bigger picture of what lies ahead in our pathway, it’s important for us to be able to sometimes just trust the process and take that huge leap of faith. Of course, it’s much easier to look back and have that epiphany moment as opposed to when you’re down in the trenches waging the struggle that you’re facing.
You may have already made the decision to migrate, or you may just be testing the waters – no matter what phase of your life you are in right now, I’m hoping that this episode may inspire you in one or many ways.
Some of the topics we chat about are:
How we got our name
How we ended up in Aus
What we love about Aus
Our journey balancing work and family life
Where the ideal spot in the world would be to raise kids (if money and a visa were no issue)
What we have learned from travels through Aus, having a family
*What it is like running an ‘influencer’ type business
I'd love to know what helps you to stay true to yourself (and others) when you’re going through something difficult?

I thought of having some fun in this week's episode and wanted to introduce you to the Terblanche kiddos! Yup, that's right - you get to hear it all from my crazy bunch and have the opportunity to hear the delightful conversations we had while I interrogated them with my questions! Anyone with young children will know how entertaining this can be.
My kids were all born in Aus, but they're fluent in Afrikaans. Monaco likes to read a little bit of Afrikaans, but we'd just like to foster the love of being able to speak a second language with them, more so than anything else (or any specific language).
I often receive many questions regarding our kiddos! 😁 So here's our list of the 10 questions you can expect to hear each of our kids answering in this video:
Monaco, 8 years
Bordeaux, 6 years
Everest, 5 years
Capri, 3 years
I asked them all the following questions:
What is your name?
How old are you?
What is your favourite colour?
What is your favourite food?
What is your favourite sweet?
What is your favourite song?
Can you sing it to us?
What is your favourite sport /activity?
What do you want to be when you grow up?
What do you love about Australia?
I thought it would be a nice change to add a little light-hearted fun to my channel, as opposed to the more serious videos which I've done previously. I hope that you enjoy watching this amusing video - just as much as we enjoyed making it for you!

If you are planning to move to Australia, you definitely need to think about your tax implications (financial emigration) and how you might be getting money to and from Aus whenever you need to move some around.
In this video I speak to Currency Assist, specialists in this field, and they share their insight and advice on the best options available to make the process as easy as possible (and as cost effective as possible!) to you.

An interior designer in South Africa, Debi decided to take a work opportunity in the UK for a better income.
Later, on a holiday trip to Australia to visit some loved ones, she met her now-partner (Ex-Zimbabwean) and Debi has been calling Australia home since April 2020 after applying to be a de-facto on his visa. Her two adult children still reside in South Africa.
Debi and her partner live in Mackay (Queensland) near the Great Barrier Reef, and Debi is a Disability Support Worker. She even managed to study her Cert 3 in Disability Support Work for FREE in Australia, one of the perks Aus has to offer for students wishing to study in certain industries.
In our 102nd episode, I bring you the van den Berg family's migration story. Leigh-Roy, and occupational hygienist, came over on a 482 visa to Perth and are now considering applying for their 190 visa.
Before they departed for Australia, they sold and packed up everything then had to wait 7 months before their visa was granted, living in an apartment during that time.
They are both now permanently employed (she is an accountant) and sharing how they are finding their feet 'fresh off the plane' and their view on the difference between the Australian and SAfrican work cultures.
There are three major mistakes that migrants make when wanting to move their pets over with them to Australia.
In this episode, Shirley-Ann Kukard from Animal Travel Services shares those mistakes with us so that you don't have to make the same mistakes in your journey!
If you would like to get a quote for taking your fur babies with you to Australia, hop onto www.chamonixtv.com.au/resources and pick 'I want help with pet migration' from the drop down box and we'll organise that for you.

One of the most asked questions when someone considers moving to Australia, is whether they are able to also move their pets with them.
Now if you've been considering including your pets in your big move to Down Under, it'll take a lot of planning- undergoing medical tests, making ends meet with the budget and organising their plane tickets.

All The Tips You Need To Convert your SAfrican CV To An Australian CVI remember how confusing it was to 'Aussie-Up!" my CV for job applications when I first moved over to Aus.
"Where does my personal detail go?"
"What is the correct Aussie CVformat?
"Should I even include EVERYthing I did since I Ieft school, what about that holiday job I had that one time....?"Gosh it took me a few years to get used to the lingo here and then to figure out an ideal way to represent myself on paper.
It sucks that you have to introduce yourself in such an almost impersonal way! But hey, that's what we've got to work with so let's make yours the best it can be.
I want the person looking at your CV to get a good feel for who you are and how you can positively contribute to that organisation's bottom line (i.e. 💲💲💲 ) that you're trying to land that job for!
So I asked my amazing friend and Aussie recruitment specialist, Jolande van Nispen, to give us her best advice this week on how to 'Aussie-Up!' your CV and get you into the shortlist pile so you can join us here in A-M-A-zing Aus Aus Aus asap.
Head down to our webpage to download your free CV template.

From their first grocery shop on the day of their arrival, to buying their first car on day two in Australia – Annarien and her family embraced Australia with their arms wide open. From Adelaide to the Outbacks and then Perth to Port Hedland and back to Perth, the Robbertse family have truly experienced the opportunities that were granted to them in 2014 – the day they left South Africa to make a new home in Australia. They chose to do it right, by applying for a visa that would grant them Permanent Residency, to avoid the fear of having to be sent back to South Africa.
Hear how Annarien speaks from the heart of how her family dealt with this ‘momentous, scary and exciting occasion’ of emigrating to the Outbacks. It has been 6 years since she left South Africa and refers to Australia as the ‘land of milk and honey’. A land filled with a magnitude of opportunities, where South Africans thrive easily.
Emigrating to Australia may seem like a daunting process but we are here to help guide you through it all. Visit our website www.chamonixtv.com.au and I’ll be able to provide you with all the tips, advice and better yet, put you in touch with a great migration agent who made the move themselves from South Africa. It is much easier to start a life in Australia than we all think, we just need to take the plunge and do it. So let us help you get the process started.
Just when we thought South Africans weren’t able to emigrate during lockdown, Albert and his family proved us all wrong. He’s living proof and hope for many of us, that nothing is impossible! Having received a sponsored 186 Military PR Visa and within less than a year, Albert, his wife and their two beautiful daughters packed up their life and headed to the land ‘Down Under’, one they had never visited before and a place they had never considered to be their next home.
Hear how Albert conquered lockdown and got his family to Australia. As fresh as a newly “South African Aussie” can be, after only being in the land “Down Under” for 5 – yes 5 mere days – we get to chat to him about how his family persisted at the given opportunity, lived out of their suitcases for 2 months and waited for the phone call to say that they could finally Emigrate regardless of Covid-19.
You would be simply surprised by the amount of support that is waiting for you when you arrive in Australia. From all the Facebook support groups, to the friendly laidback Australians and even the odd South African store here and there. There is no need to ponder if you are seeking a ‘peace of mind’ future for you and your family.
Australia is waiting for you! And we are here to help you get there!
There is always a first for everything… Like a South African Aussie having to explain the concept of load shedding to their Australian colleagues, where it is described as “suburbs taking turns to have electricity”. We chat to Nadia, a single mom from the Sunshine Coast who made the bold move 10 years ago on a Spousal de facto Visa. Having been given the opportunity to live not only in South Africa and Australia, but also adding the UK to the list – with no regrets, she is not going back to either and is proud to call Australia her home.
Listen now and find out how Nadia and her two incredible boys live a stress free life. One where it’s ok to go to bed without locking the doors, or one where she can go to the grocer, buy her groceries, scan and pay for them and be the teller herself.
Now is the time when everyone is under pressure and the need to discuss a family’s future is very much becoming a dinner table discussion. Don’t fall behind and be last to get on the bus, because it might be too late.
There is no time like now. Don’t even think twice. I can guarantee that your friends are already one step ahead and getting the process going….!
So get on the bus and let us help get you to Australia!
