Join us on where we delve into the inspiring journey of student entrepreneurs Collin and Lucas. Together, they turned their dreams of launching a clothing brand into a remarkable reality. During an afterschool program at McCown High School in Staten Island, under the mentorship of Teaching Artist and Stereotype Co-founder Dave Noodlez, these young men achieved their goals in just eight weeks.
Crafting a business plan, designing logos, creating shirts, hand-painting one-of-a-kind beanies, and even producing a commercial were among their accomplishments. Their story showcases the power of mentorship and community support in nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit among young individuals.
Through the collaborative efforts of Collin, Lucas, and Dave, their ideas were transformed into a tangible reality, thanks to Stereotype Co., which brought their vision to life with final graphics and innovative products. This partnership serves as an inspiration for young individuals nationwide, emphasizing the importance of mentorship, community support, and access to resources in fostering the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs.
Tune in as Lucas and Collin sit down with Dave to share their creative process and discuss the exciting launch of Faded Minds Clothing.
Thanks, Sundog Theatre & McCown High School for the opportunity.

"Descendent is a champion of Black culture, at home and abroad. Through songwriting and filmmaking, the Bronx-based MC seeks to illuminate and celebrate the cultural strength of the Pan-African diaspora, specifically of African American art. Starting from his hometown of Newport News, Virginia, he dives into the roots of African American storytelling: music and oral history. They become his vehicle to not only remember the history of his ancestors but also connect with the communities around him.
He believes that through history, African Americans can liberate themselves creatively and financially. And furthermore, that it can relate to African people worldwide. He follows in the footsteps of his Hip-Hop forefathers. Both musicians such as Mos Def and Tupac, but also directors like John Singleton and Spike Lee. He invites you to join him on this journey.
Descendent has toured numerous times across the United States and his work has brought him to the likes of Sway in the Morning’s “A&R Room”, A3C Festival, Empire State Music Festival, and Chuck D’s two radio shows "And You Don't Stop" and "Songs That Mean Something”. Born and raised in the New Dorp section of Staten Island, John is a staunch example of sweat and hustle. Since 2007, he has barreled his way up and down the East Coast, from clubs to lodges to resorts to firehouses to casinos to festivals and everything in between. John has a Bernie Williams soul with a Don Mattingly work ethic and it all shines through the second his voice hits the mic.
